Chapter 75: Any Chance I Get, I’ll Seduce Him
Silence descended upon the courtyard. Everyone’s expressions shifted, none more drastically than Yan Zhen’s.
The script stated that after witnessing her most embarrassing moment, Xiao Xinyan would avoid Yan Zhen out of shame, unwilling and afraid to approach him.
And now she wanted to move in?
This wasn’t the first time events had deviated from the script. Yan Zhen remained calm, his mind racing as he searched for a possible explanation.
Based on his understanding of her character, Yan Zhen had initially assumed that after suffering such humiliation, the prideful Xiao Xinyan would seek revenge, not meekly accept her fate.
Spiteful retaliation was a classic villainous trope.
This meant the problem likely lay with the script itself. The writer hadn’t accurately captured her personality, resulting in a plot hole.
Xiao Xinyan’s current behavior made perfect sense.
— *She must be planning to use this opportunity to seduce me! Living under the same roof will give her ample chances to use her feminine wiles and lure me into making a mistake. Then, she’ll arrange for Instructor Yu Xuan or the others to “catch us” in a compromising position, ruining my reputation and driving a wedge between us!*
Of course, it might not be a seduction scheme. Perhaps she had something else in mind. Whatever it was, she wasn’t going to let this go unpunished!
As tempting as it was to play along and see what she was up to, the script didn’t include such a scenario. He had to prevent her from moving in.
Instructor Yu Xuan responded to Xiao Xinyan’s request with a wry smile. “I don’t mind, but this is Xue’er’s house. You’ll need to ask her permission.”
All eyes turned to Mi Xue’er.
“What do you say, Junior Sister Xue’er?” Instructor Yu Xuan prompted gently.
Mi Xue’er crossed her arms, her expression cold. “I’m sorry, Xiao Xinyan. While I sympathize with your situation, that’s a separate matter. I don’t want to live with someone I dislike. Seeing her every day would just ruin my mood.”
Her words were blunt, leaving no room for misinterpretation.
Xiao Xinyan’s face fell. She knew Mi Xue’er disliked her, just as she disliked Mi Xue’er.
They were both natives of Silver Moon City, living in the same district. Their rivalry had begun in childhood, their animosity growing with each passing year.
When she became Instructor Yu Xuan’s disciple, Xiao Xinyan had initially hoped to befriend Yan Ruyu. However, Mi Xue’er had beaten her to the punch, quickly befriending Yan Ruyu. Enraged, Xiao Xinyan had lumped them both together as objects of her disdain.
With her hopes dashed, Xiao Xinyan turned back to Instructor Yu Xuan, clutching her arm pleadingly. “Instructor, please, help me… I’m truly scared.”
Instructor Yu Xuan hesitated.
While she was closer to Mi Xue’er, Yan Ruyu, and Yan Meng’er, she harbored no ill will towards Xiao Xinyan. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have taken her on as a student in the first place.
Furthermore, while Xiao Xinyan clashed with Mi Xue’er, she was always respectful and obedient towards her, showering her with gifts on birthdays and holidays and always heeding her advice.
Torn between her students, Instructor Yu Xuan couldn’t bring herself to ignore Xiao Xinyan’s plea. Her fear was palpable. Her hands had been trembling ever since she arrived.
“Xue’er, there’s a spare room in the house. Why don’t we let Xinyan stay for a few days?”
Mi Xue’er sighed inwardly. Her instructor was too kind for her own good. A flicker of resentment crossed her face, but she replied, “Fine. Since you’ve asked, Instructor, she can stay for two days. But we’re making this clear beforehand. Once this blows over, she’s out. There are plenty of houses in the city. She can find her own place.”
“Then it’s settled.” Instructor Yu Xuan smiled. “Xinyan, are you alright with that?”
“I’ll do whatever Instructor says,” Xiao Xinyan replied gratefully.
“Good. The spare room is fully furnished. You don’t need to bring anything, Xinyan. Just a few essentials. After all, you’ll only be staying a few days.”
“Okay.”
“Have you eaten dinner yet?” Seeing Xiao Xinyan shake her head, Instructor Yu Xuan’s heart softened. “Then you’ll have to make do with some barbecue. Come on.”
“Thank you, Instructor.”
Xiao Xinyan’s unprecedented docility made Mi Xue’er’s teeth clench. She let out a disgruntled huff.
Yan Meng’er and Yan Ruyu exchanged glances but remained silent.
Yan Zhen’s expression darkened, but knowing she was only staying a few days eased his worries.
*This Miss High-and-Mighty can’t outsmart me or overpower me. All she can do is resort to underhanded tactics. But if she tries anything, I’ll make sure she regrets it!*
If she behaved herself, all would be well. But if she dared to play any games, he wouldn’t hesitate to retaliate. His newly acquired “Katō Eagle Finger” was just begging for a test run.
They resumed their barbecue, but the atmosphere was noticeably strained with Xiao Xinyan’s presence.
Mi Xue’er, in particular, attacked her skewers with a vengeance, her cheeks puffed out as if determined to prevent Xiao Xinyan from tasting a single morsel of Little Brother Yan Zhen’s cooking.
As they ate, Yan Meng’er suddenly spoke up. “Senior Sister Xinyan, you said earlier that Cousin saved you?”
Xiao Xinyan swallowed her mouthful of meat and nodded. “That’s right.”
“How did he save you?” Yan Meng’er frowned. “Don’t tell me he… you know…”
The implication hung in the air, the mood instantly shifting.
The four girls knew Yan Zhen had rescued Xiao Xinyan, but they were unaware of the specifics. Even Instructor Yu Xuan hadn’t pressed her for details.
While it probably hadn’t gone *that* far, the fact that Xiao Xinyan had been drugged with concentrated Dream Drop Dew while bathing meant she had been completely naked.
Had Yan Zhen taken advantage of the situation to… *look*?
The mere thought sent a pang of jealousy through them, as if Xiao Xinyan had somehow usurped their position.
Four pairs of eyes focused intently on Yan Zhen.
Yan Zhen’s face darkened. *Of all the things to ask about! Why did she have to bring this up?*
“I simply gave her a Detoxification Pill and used my cultivation to purge the drug from her system,” he replied curtly.
“That’s right,” Xiao Xinyan confirmed, her cheeks flushing as she spoke. “He didn’t… we didn’t do anything like *that*“
Mi Xue’er’s gaze sharpened, her next words piercing straight to the heart of the matter. “Xiao Xinyan, don’t tell me you’re trying to cling to Little Brother Yan Zhen just because he had to see and touch you while saving your life?”
Xiao Xinyan bristled, as if struck a nerve. “Nonsense! I would never! Do you think I’m like you, Mi Xue’er? I… I don’t even like him! Why would I cling to him?!”
“Good. That’s how it should be.” Mi Xue’er sniffed. “Little Brother Yan Zhen is *ours*. Don’t you dare try to steal him. I won’t let you get away with it!”
“Oh, if you put it *that* way, then I *definitely* have to try something. Any chance I get, I’ll seduce him!”
“You wouldn’t dare!”
“Oh, I would. He’s already seen and touched me. What’s a little more? Someone’s getting jealous, aren’t they?”
“You–”
Furious, Mi Xue’er jumped to her feet, ready to launch herself at Xiao Xinyan. Yan Ruyu and Yan Meng’er quickly grabbed her, restraining her.
Instructor Yu Xuan tugged on Xiao Xinyan’s sleeve, urging her to stop provoking Mi Xue’er.
Yan Zhen, caught in the crossfire, could only groan inwardly. *Can’t you two fight without dragging me into it? This is so embarrassing!*
