Chapter 99: A Girl’s Blush Speaks Volumes
The fish soup was salty.
But it was flavorful and delicious. Shen Shuanglian couldn’t help but have two or three bowls.
She ate slowly, taking small sips, savoring each mouthful.
While she ate, Chen Yin lay on the bed, casually flipping through a book from Shen Shuanglian’s bedside table.
“Have you figured out how to deal with the Canghe Sword Sect?”
“Yes.” Shen Shuanglian put down her bowl and nodded.
“With this hostage, there’s a lot we can do. Even if the Canghe Sword Sect is furious, they’ll have to swallow their anger.”
“Of course… that’s just on the surface.” She added softly, “Behind the scenes, Ju Canghe won’t let this go easily.”
“The Mist Spirit Sect needs time to recuperate. It’s best to lay low for a few years. Just make sure your disciples don’t give them any leverage.”
“I’m just worried… that he’ll come after you.”
Chen Yin chuckled disdainfully. “Let him come. I’ll see if he thinks I didn’t extort enough from him already.”
Shen Shuanglian asked curiously, “How much did you extort from him this time?”
Chen Yin told her the amount, and her expression turned strange. After a long silence, she sighed softly.
“…That’s definitely an irreconcilable grudge.”
“Did I cause you trouble?” Chen Yin ruffled her hair gently.
“No.”
Shen Shuanglian, her thin nightgown clinging to her curves, snuggled closer to Chen Yin on the bed.
“At least it’s better than the previous situation, where we were completely helpless.”
“The Canghe Sword Sect has been coveting the Mist Spirit Sect for a long time. They were bound to make a move sooner or later. There’s no need to be polite to them.”
“That’s my girl!” Chen Yin gave her a thumbs up.
“But that’s not what I wanted to ask.”
Shen Shuanglian suddenly changed the subject. “I’m more curious about how you found Ju Shaohé.”
“Well… it was a coincidence.”
“My friends are recovering at a medical clinic in Yanxia Province,” Chen Yin explained. “And Ju Shaohé happened to be harassing the physician there. I stumbled upon them.”
“I overheard his attendants talking about the Canghe Sword Sect’s plans against the Mist Spirit Sect, so I decided to kidnap him.”
Shen Shuanglian looked up at him, her eyes blinking.
“Really?”
“Of course it’s true. Why would I lie to you?”
“Are you leaving out some details?”
“Wh-what details?” Chen Yin asked, feeling a little guilty.
“For example,” she said casually, “I’m guessing the physician at that clinic is a beautiful young woman?”
Chen Yin choked on his words and coughed.
“Uh… well, isn’t it a coincidence that she happens to be one? Hahaha.”
Seeing him trying to brush it off with a laugh, Shen Shuanglian didn’t say anything more. She simply lowered her eyes and pinched his waist lightly.
Chen Yin leaned closer and whispered, “Are you jealous, Senior Sister?”
“…No.”
“Really?”
“Well, maybe a little.” Shen Shuanglian said softly.
Her voice was calm and quiet, and Chen Yin couldn’t tell if she was truly jealous.
“If you’re unhappy, you can tell me, Senior Sister.”
“I… I’m not very good with words.” Shen Shuanglian hesitated.
But then she suddenly looked up, a determined glint in her clear eyes.
“But I can show you.”
Before Chen Yin could react, Shen Shuanglian covered his eyes with her hands.
He couldn’t see anything, only feel her warm breath on his neck, sending shivers down his spine.
The last image he saw was Shen Shuanglian, her thin nightgown clinging to her alluring curves, her eyes clear and calm, as she leaned towards him.
“Stay still, don’t move.”
At first, Chen Yin didn’t understand what she meant.
But as he felt the soft sensation on his body, he understood. He thought he could handle it.
But he was wrong.
…He finally understood.
Senior Sister was truly jealous.
Three days later, the Canghe Sword Sect returned to the Mist Spirit Sect.
But this time, they didn’t come with a large army. Only Sect Master Ju Canghe and two elders accompanied him.
Shen Shuanglian, along with the Mist Spirit Sect disciples, waited calmly at the mountain gate.
In the end, Ju Canghe and Shen Shuanglian exchanged a few words through voice transmission. No one knew what they said. But Ju Canghe’s expression shifted several times, his face a mixture of anger and resignation. He finally nodded in agreement.
Then, Ju Shaohé, his face still bruised and swollen, walked out from behind the Mist Spirit Sect disciples, looking dejected, and approached his father.
They whispered to each other, their words inaudible to the others.
Finally, Ju Canghe gave Shen Shuanglian a forced smile and said with a sarcastic tone:
“Frost Moon Sword Immortal, you’re quite mature for your age. To have such skills at such a young age, you’re truly impressive. I’m sure the Mist Spirit Sect will flourish under your leadership.”
“You flatter me.” Shen Shuanglian simply nodded slightly.
Hmph. A cold snort dissipated in the wind as Ju Canghe turned and left with Ju Shaohé.
Throughout the entire encounter, Chen Yin had been waiting quietly, not planning to show his face unless absolutely necessary.
After they left, Chen Yin approached Shen Shuanglian curiously. “Senior Sister, what did you say to him? You managed to get rid of him so easily?”
“I thought that old dog would at least make a fuss.”
Shen Shuanglian said calmly, “It wasn’t that complicated.”
“I told him, ‘The Young Master of the Canghe Sword Sect was kidnapped by bandits. Fortunately, he was rescued by a patrolling disciple from the Mist Spirit Sect. However, his injuries were severe, and we had to use a secret Mist Spirit Sect potion to save his life. But the potion has severe side effects. He needs to return to the Mist Spirit Sect once a year for the next three years to receive the antidote. Only then will he be fully recovered.’ That’s the gist of it.”
Chen Yin understood.
Now, at least on the surface, the Mist Spirit Sect was the savior of the Canghe Sword Sect’s Young Master.
But both sides knew that as long as the poison remained in Ju Shaohé’s body, he was effectively a hostage of the Mist Spirit Sect for the next three years. If the Canghe Sword Sect dared to make any aggressive moves, it would be tantamount to sentencing Ju Shaohé to death.
“But I have a question. Why only three years?” Chen Yin asked curiously. “Wouldn’t it be better to demand more?”
“It’s not that it wouldn’t be better, but it’s unnecessary.”
Shen Shuanglian said calmly, “Three years is enough to deter the Canghe Sword Sect from coveting the Mist Spirit Sect.”
“Within three years, I will reach the Grand Clarity Realm.”
Her voice was firm and resolute, as if she were stating a simple fact.
Chen Yin chuckled and couldn’t resist pinching her soft cheek.
“Not bad. You’re starting to sound like a true Sect Master.”
Shen Shuanglian blushed slightly and looked away, saying nothing.
Meanwhile, back at the Canghe Sword Sect, Ju Shaohé was recounting his traumatic experience to his father, tears streaming down his face.
“Father, I can’t swallow this humiliation!”
“Enough!” Ju Canghe’s face was dark with anger. “You still have the nerve to complain?”
“Didn’t I tell you to stay at the sect and not go anywhere these past few days? Did you listen?”
“If you had been obedient, even with all her skills, how could Shen Shuanglian have kidnapped you from the sect?”
“It’s all your fault!” He said with exasperation. “I was so close to taking over the Mist Spirit Sect, and you ruined everything!”
Ju Shaohé didn’t dare to talk back and simply stood there, his face filled with resentment and frustration.
After his anger subsided, Ju Canghe said sternly, “Learn your lesson. The cultivation world is a treacherous place, full of dangers. Don’t think you can act recklessly just because you’re the Young Master of the Canghe Sword Sect.”
“Father…” Ju Shaohé looked at him with a pitiful expression.
“Alright, alright.”
Ju Canghe stroked his beard and said slowly, “Although attacking the Mist Spirit Sect is out of the question for now…”
“That cultivator named Chen Yin… the moment he steps out of the Mist Spirit Sect, he will pay for his actions.”
“Otherwise, we’ll be telling the entire cultivation world that anyone can kidnap the Young Master of the Canghe Sword Sect.”
A malicious glint flashed in Ju Shaohé’s eyes. Then he suddenly remembered something.
“That’s right! Father, I heard that Chen Yin has friends recovering at the Xiaoxiang Medical Clinic in Yanxia Province!”
Oh? Ju Canghe raised an eyebrow and said calmly, “Summon Kuli.”
“Leave this matter to him.”
Hearing Kuli’s name, Ju Shaohé’s eyes lit up.
“Yes! Let Kuli handle it. He can massacre Chen Yin and his friends, and we can blame it on the demonic path. No one will suspect us!”
“Father, you’re a genius!”
“Save it.” Ju Canghe glared at him. “If you had been more obedient, I wouldn’t have to go through all this trouble.”
“You’re grounded for a month. Go and copy scriptures!”
“Yes…”
A while later, a thin man with red hair and unusually pale arms entered the study.
“What is it?” His tone lacked any respect, as if he didn’t care that the person before him was the Sect Master of the Canghe Sword Sect.
“Go to the Xiaoxiang Medical Clinic in Yanxia Province and eliminate a man named Chen Yin, along with anyone related to him.”
Ju Canghe said in a low voice, “Make it clean. Leave no evidence.”
“Understood.”
Kuli glanced at him with cold, arrogant eyes. “Once this is done, we’re even. Don’t tell anyone you’ve ever met me.”
“Don’t worry. Once this is over, I’ll grant you your freedom and let you return to the demonic path.”
Kuli snorted, then slowly left the study.
But as soon as he stepped out, he paused, a thoughtful expression on his face.
“Chen Yin… that name sounds familiar.”
“Am I mistaken?”
