Girl Doesn’t Die in Fairytale Town: Chapter 52 – That’s Good
“Hiss… roar…”
The crimson monster could no longer utter human sounds, only emitting a series of low, guttural growls.
Its expression seemed even more frenzied, its fleshy tentacles flailing wildly, yet it restrained its urge to attack, mindful of the townspeople-turned-monsters around Luo Yan.
“Mrs… Natalie…”
The monster with its tongue nailed with iron spikes trembled, its distorted eyeballs shifting towards the giant crimson monster, its broken throat barely managing a few syllables.
It was once Dr. Messier, but now, even it no longer recognized that identity.
All the monsters slowly raised their heads, their gazes fixed on the equally disfigured Mrs. Natalie.
“Just… let go…”
They held the painful memories of the past, and the happy memories of the fairytale town.
But they were tired.
From the moment the disaster struck, this tragedy that had unfolded in the town for countless years was destined to be irreversible, its ending unchangeable.
Who could save everyone?
No one could.
Alone in the spiritual world, Mrs. Natalie, for the first time, felt the true desires of the townspeople. She collapsed to the ground, powerless.
Years of obsession crumbled in this moment, her unwavering belief shattered, her eyes vacant, her heart filled with despair.
The power to maintain the townspeople’s resurrection, the power she had clung to, was mercilessly taken back by the will of the “Witch of Envy,” along with her mental abilities.
Although Mrs. Natalie was the most devout apostle of the “Witch of Envy,” the power she wielded still belonged to the “Witch.” It could be revoked at any time.
However, Luo Yan seemed to be an exception. Her eyes still retained the form of the “Eye of Fear, Envy, and Defilement.” The “Witch of Envy” couldn’t take back the demonic power within her.
At the same time, the monsters around Luo Yan shrieked in terror, her distorted form causing unbearable pain to their fragile minds.
Moreover, their bodies were slowly melting in the blood mist, the agonizing pain of being devoured, bit by bit, fully impacting their tormented souls.
Before, it was Mrs. Natalie’s resurrection ability that kept them from being dissolved by the blood mist, and her mental power shielded them from the pain. But now, these powers were gone.
Mrs. Natalie heard the monsters’ cries and looked up, anxiety appearing on her face.
“No, no…”
No matter what, these townspeople were her most precious friends…
Mrs. Natalie frantically knelt down and prayed to the “Witch of Envy” with utmost devotion.
“Great ‘Lord,’ please hear your follower’s plea… uh…”
But before she could finish, an unbearable weakness washed over her soul, her consciousness almost fading.
In the outside world, her body, merged with the “Eye of Fear, Envy, and Defilement,” having lost all control, no longer cared about the monsters. Its rampaging tentacles lashed out towards Luo Yan, striking even the wailing monsters.
“No, don’t…”
Mrs. Natalie watched helplessly, unable to do anything.
Just like that day, despair and helplessness consumed her.
The color gradually faded from her eyes.
“Lisa.”
A cold voice suddenly echoed in her ear.
Mrs. Natalie looked up in a daze and saw a figure standing before her in her spiritual world.
Memories, long buried, began to resurface. A fading sunset appeared in her empty spiritual world, surrounded by raging flames.
The past and present merged, the tall, silent figure overlapping with the petite, silver-haired girl, both extending a hand towards her.
“You’ve finally awakened… Now, it’s over.”
Color slowly returned to Mrs. Natalie’s dim eyes, her vision clearing, finally revealing the figure’s face.
A breathtakingly beautiful face, so different from her past memories, a face she had subconsciously ignored.
“You’re not Miss Luo Yan.”
Mrs. Natalie whispered, looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar silver-haired girl.
The silent, powerful phantom that had lingered in her mind slowly dissipated.
“…You are Miss Luo Yan.”
The Miss Luo Yan who loved watching the rain, who loved strolling around with her cane, thoughtful and gentle, rarely smiling yet kind.
The girl who had silently accompanied her through all her happiness, until the very end.
“Miss Luo Yan, may I ask one last thing of you?” Mrs. Natalie said softly. “A… small request.”
“Of course, Madam,” Luo Yan said, adjusting her simple gray dress. “I am a maid of Natalie Manor, at least for now.”
“Release them,” Mrs. Natalie looked at the wailing monsters, her expression complex and sorrowful. “It was my twisted obsession that caused everyone to suffer this undeserved pain…”
“I’m happy to oblige,” Luo Yan blinked, a rare smile appearing on her lips. “However, you also need release, Mrs. Natalie.”
“Me?” Mrs. Natalie hesitated. “I… am the source of everyone’s sin. I cannot be redeemed, I shouldn’t be redeemed.”
Whether or not she had been influenced by the demon’s power, it was her decision, her wish.
“It’s all the same.”
Luo Yan extended her hand towards Mrs. Natalie, a faint blue flower bud in her palm.
In the outside world, an identical but much larger flower appeared in the center of the monsters.
“I also remember everything about the town…” Luo Yan lowered her eyes, memories flashing through her mind. “I loved it very much.”
Mrs. Natalie was taken aback, then smiled, a look of relief washing over her face.
“Is that so…”
She took the blue flower and held it in her hands.
“That’s good.”
The petals slowly unfurled, their azure color like Little Tini’s beautiful eyes, blooming freely.
After its breathtaking beauty reached its peak, the petals scattered, and Mrs. Natalie’s soul gradually faded, the surrounding spiritual world collapsing.
In her final moments, Mrs. Natalie saw Little Tini, whom she had longed for, holding a drawing board and waving happily at her.
She closed her eyes slowly, a happy smile on her face.
“Little Tini, Mommy’s coming…”
