After Failing to Find Immortality 11

Chapter 11: Unfathomable Swordsmanship

Hua Shuya was filled with guilt.

Senior had clearly held back, probably using less than ten percent of his strength, judging by his casual stance.

And yet…

She couldn’t even withstand a single, effortless strike from him, and she even needed him to comfort her.

Faced with his teasing, she was too ashamed to defend herself, speechless.

Lin Tianlu, unaware of her self-reproach, swung the branch casually and chuckled. “Martial arts swordsmanship is quite fascinating. I should study it further if I have the chance. I wonder what kind of power it can unleash at its highest levels.”

Hua Shuya’s heart skipped a beat. She discreetly hid her trembling hands in her sleeves and said calmly, “As far as I know, the highest realm for martial artists in this world is the Five Meridians Grandmaster. Once they reach that level, they can control their Qi to attack enemies from afar, even effortlessly navigating a battlefield, their stamina inexhaustible.”

“That sounds incredible.” Lin Tianlu was surprised.

To fight against thousands single-handedly, that was like the legendary masters in martial arts novels.

He imagined himself mastering such swordsmanship, combined with his abundant spiritual energy. Perhaps he could become a true sword immortal, roaming the world freely?

Lin Tianlu smiled, tossing the branch aside, and stopped daydreaming.

Instead of thinking about such distant matters, he should focus on what to eat for lunch.

“By the way, Miss Hua, what are your plans for the next few days?”

Hua Shuya snapped back to reality and quickly replied, “Senior, I’ll be staying in Changling County for a while. I have no other pressing matters. As for my accommodation… I’ll purchase a vacant house nearby.”

Lin Tianlu chuckled and bowed. “As you wish, Miss Hua.”

This girl was truly wealthy.

“Senior… would you mind if I visited you from time to time?” Hua Shuya asked hesitantly, her voice low. “I would like to learn swordsmanship from you.”

“Of course not. After all, you bought this mansion. You’re most welcome.” Lin Tianlu chuckled softly. “Besides, it’s a bit lonely here. It would be nice to have some company.”

“Thank you, Senior!”

Hua Shuya beamed, a bright smile lighting up her face.

Only then did she show her youthful charm, a smile that suited her age.

But as Lin Tianlu turned and walked back into the house, her smile faded, and she looked down at her hands with a troubled expression.

Her fingers trembled, her arms shaking, devoid of strength.

What truly disturbed her was…

She had lost her fighting spirit the moment she clashed with Senior.

It was as if her mind had frozen, her limbs numb, her thoughts blank. Only after her branch was knocked away did she realize what had happened.

Such a thing…

Was unbelievable to her, someone who had practiced martial arts since childhood.

The first lesson for any martial artist was to cultivate their willpower and focus their mind, channeling their energy into their techniques. And she hadn’t hesitated or held back, wanting to showcase her skills to Senior.

Hua Shuya bit her lip, frustrated.

To show such weakness in front of Senior… Hmm?

She blinked, her eyes widening as she looked at the two branches on the ground.

They had turned into dust, scattering in the morning breeze. A cool wind brushed against her chest.

Hua Shuya looked down, her eyes widening in shock.

A small tear had appeared in her robe, revealing a glimpse of her delicate skin.

So it wasn’t that she had lacked focus or willpower. It was because she had…

Sensed the approach of ‘death.’

Just one clash, and the outcome was decided. If Senior hadn’t held back, even with a fragile branch, her heart would have been pierced.

Hua Shuya exhaled slowly, her heart pounding with excitement.

Senior’s swordsmanship was truly unfathomable!

“Miss Hua, let’s go.”

“Eh?”

She turned around, startled, and saw Lin Tianlu emerging from the house, carrying cleaning supplies. Her eyes widened in surprise. “S-Senior, what are you…”

“Didn’t you just buy a house next door?” Lin Tianlu smiled, holding up a broom. “I have some free time now. I’ll help you clean it up.”

“T-that’s not necessary!” Hua Shuya waved her hands frantically. “I can handle these chores myself…”

“Let’s do it together.”

Lin Tianlu handed her a small wooden basin. “Household chores are everyone’s responsibility, regardless of status. Besides, you’ve helped me so much. I should contribute too.”

“Senior…”

Hua Shuya pursed her lips.

Not only did Senior not act like a distant and aloof immortal, but he was also kind and gentle towards her, like an older brother.

Touching the tear in her robe, she felt a warmth spreading through her chest.

After cleaning for a while, Hua Shuya put down her broom, exhaled, and wiped the sweat from her forehead.

Thanks to their efforts, the house was now spotless, inside and out. Even the high eaves were easily accessible to her with her light footwork.

And Lin Tianlu had helped her with the work.

“Miss Hua, come and wash your hands. I have some pastries.”

Lin Tianlu was sitting on the corridor in the courtyard, beckoning her with a smile.

“Coming, Senior.” Hua Shuya smiled faintly and quickly washed her hands and face.

But as she approached, she nervously adjusted her hair and smoothed her skirt, her cheeks flushing slightly as she sat down beside Lin Tianlu.

“These are pastries from the neighbor across the street. I tried them last night, and they were delicious. She gave me some extra today, so I brought them for you to try.”

As he opened the wooden box, a faint fragrance wafted out.

Hua Shuya’s eyes lit up, and she felt a pang of hunger.

After hesitating for a moment, she asked shyly, “Senior, may I… try one?”

Lin Tianlu chuckled. “Go ahead.”

“Mm.”

She carefully picked up a pastry and took a small bite. The sweet flavor filled her mouth, the soft and chewy texture making her moan softly. It was the most delicious dessert she had ever tasted.

Even the chefs in her household couldn’t compare!

“Delicious!”

“Right?” Lin Tianlu chuckled. “That woman is truly a skilled baker. I wonder where she learned her craft.”

Hua Shuya quickly finished the pastry, savoring every bite, and sighed contentedly.

If only she could enjoy such delicious treats every day, spending time with Senior…

But…

She shook her head, feeling a wave of drowsiness washing over her.

“Miss Hua, if you like them, feel free to have more.” Lin Tianlu took out the Go board from his pocket and smiled. “But while we’re relaxing, why don’t we play another game of Go?

I studied some Go manuals. I should be able to… Eh?”

He noticed that the girl had fallen asleep, leaning against a pillar, her breathing calm and steady.

“…”

She fell asleep so quickly?

Lin Tianlu was stunned.

“But come to think of it, she hasn’t rested at all since we descended from Mount Taiyi.”

He chuckled helplessly, stood up, took off his outer robe, and gently draped it over her shoulders.

Although she was a skilled martial artist with great courage, she was still a young girl, her sleeping face delicate and beautiful, her skin fair and flawless.

“It would be nice to play some flute music now.”

But touching the jade flute in his pocket, Lin Tianlu sat back down with a strange expression and continued eating his pastry.

He shouldn’t disturb her sleep.

If the neighbors complained, his morning visits would be for naught.

He might as well think about how to make fried chicken… Did he need to buy some oil from the market?

They said a gentleman should stay away from the kitchen…

Unless he was craving fried chicken.

Wait.

Lin Tianlu froze, his pastry halfway to his mouth.

A beautiful woman was sleeping peacefully beside him, yet his mind was filled with thoughts of fast food.

“Could it be that I’ve seen too many NSFW images in my previous life, that my heart is now as pure and unyielding as ice?”

He had achieved the legendary Ice Heart Skill without even trying.

Lin Tianlu chuckled to himself.

Then, he took out an ancient book from his sleeve and started reading.

Indeed, books were far more interesting than NSFW images.

Weird, he talks about beautiful woman, smooth skin, but suddenly said …”Maybe I’ve seen too many… images in my previous life. I’ve become immune to feminine charms.”

There’s a difference between appreciation and attraction. What he’s saying is that he’s entirely unflustered by the situation, to an abnormal extent.
