Chapter 30: Transmigrated as the Abusive Story’s Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character p2
Two months later, Pei Shuangshuang finally gave birth.
Xin Yao, still in her spectral form, watched from the sidelines, her expression a mix of anxiety and anticipation.
Unlike her, the doctors and nurses were horrified.
The doctor holding the newborn screamed, dropping the child onto the floor.
Pei Shuangshuang, weak and exhausted, looked down and saw a small, monstrous creature, half-human, half-snake.
She almost fainted.
Xin Yao, unable to interact with the scene, felt a surge of panic.
Her Pei Yu wasn’t a monster, not the cursed creature they claimed her to be.
She was a kind, compassionate person, with a dry sense of humor, who donated generously to charity every year.
She was a real person, with a heart and soul, not just a monster!
Tears welled up in Xin Yao’s eyes. She wanted to pick up the baby, to comfort her, but her hands passed through the image, grasping only air.
The Pei family, however, couldn’t tolerate such a monstrous offspring.
Their first instinct was to kill it.
The nurses, shielding the newborn from Pei Shuangshuang’s view, carried it away.
Xin Yao, not knowing what they were planning, followed them.
They entered the bathroom.
Without hesitation, the nurses held the newborn under the water, trying to drown it.
The tiny creature, fighting for its life, thrashed and kicked, its snake tail and clawed hands scratching the nurses’ arms, only earning it more brutal treatment.
The scene made Xin Yao’s blood run cold, her heart aching with fear and anger.
Her control snapped.
Forgetting that it was just a memory, a past she couldn’t change, she lunged forward, trying to pry the nurses’ hands away from the baby’s throat.
“Let her go! Let her go!”
But her hands passed through their images, grasping only air.
She couldn’t save Pei Yu.
She could only watch as the newborn, its face turning blue, struggled to breathe.
“Please, stop! Please!”
Xin Yao knelt on the floor, tears streaming down her face. “She hasn’t done anything wrong! Why won’t you even give her a chance to live?”
Being half-human, Pei Yu had inherited her father’s demonic powers at a young age, making her incredibly strong.
And her mind had developed quickly, her memories intact from birth.
But Pei Yu sometimes wished she hadn’t been born.
Because she still remembered the feeling of being held underwater, the water filling her lungs, the burning sensation in her throat, the suffocating darkness.
And the people who had done this to her were her own family.
But demons were resilient. Even in that state, Pei Yu had found her voice, her cries muffled by the water.
“It hurts! It hurts!”
The nurses, terrified by the monstrous newborn’s ability to speak, finally relented, dropping her onto the floor.
Xin Yao reached out to catch her, but her hands passed through the image, the small snake-like creature falling to the cold tile floor.
Xin Yao’s heart ached. She knelt beside the writhing creature, covering her face with her hands, unable to bear the sight.
Later, the Pei family tried to find a Taoist priest to seal Pei Yu’s powers, but they failed.
They locked her in a small, windowless basement, bringing her food at regular intervals.
For the first three years of her life, Pei Yu never saw the sun.
She huddled in the cold, dark basement, enduring countless days and nights.
That’s why she disliked darkness, disliked water, disliked rainy days.
It wasn’t until she met Xin Yao that she learned that water wasn’t so scary, that rainy days could be comforting.
In the fragmented memories that followed, Xin Yao remained by Pei Yu’s side.
She watched as Pei Yu grew, her small body thin and frail from lack of food, but she never cried, never complained, never spoke.
Countless times, Xin Yao wanted to hold her, to comfort her, but her hands passed through the image, grasping only air.
She could only watch, her heart aching, her gaze soft and sad.
My Pei Yu…
When Pei Yu turned three and finally shifted into her human form, things began to change.
One day, as the nanny brought her food, Pei Yu suddenly spoke, her voice cold and emotionless.
“He’s going to have a car accident.”
The nanny dismissed her words, but that night, Pei Shuangshuang’s father was indeed involved in a car accident.
The nanny, realizing the significance of Pei Yu’s words, immediately informed Pei Yu’s grandfather.
Pei’s grandfather, seeing an opportunity, finally brought Pei Yu out of the basement, treating her with a newfound respect.
Human greed was more monstrous than any demon.
But even though Pei Yu was free, and had shifted into her human form, her mother, Pei Shuangshuang, still refused to see her.
Because seeing Pei Yu reminded her of her dead husband, and of her own cowardice.
So, she avoided her, refusing to acknowledge her existence.
Pei Yu, unable to understand human emotions, didn’t care.
They called her a monster, so she would be a monster.
No one would love a monster, and a monster didn’t need love.
Years passed, and Pei Yu and Pei Shuangshuang never saw each other.
Pei Shuangshuang eventually moved abroad, while Pei Yu, her abilities recognized by her grandfather, rose through the ranks of the Pei Corporation.
She was a prodigy, excelling at everything she did, surpassing all expectations. She naturally inherited the company.
Some family members had opposed her, but Pei Yu, ruthless and unconcerned with morality, had swiftly dealt with them.
The world became quiet, and Pei Yu, the untouchable CEO, led the company to even greater heights.
Now, everyone bowed before her, their lives dependent on her whims.
No one loved her, but everyone feared her. It was enough.
The long, fragmented memory ended with Pei Yu sitting in her office.
The morning sunlight streamed in behind her, her face cold and impassive.
Then, the light intensified, engulfing Pei Yu, its warmth washing over Xin Yao like a wave.
Xin Yao woke up, the sunlight on her face.
She was still sitting on her sofa, but it was morning now.
It had been a long, strange dream.
She touched her face, her fingers wet with tears.
Without thinking, she stood up and left the apartment.
She had to see Pei Yu. Now.
She even forgot that she could simply activate the mating mark to be transported to Pei Yu’s side.
She ran, driven by a primal urge, towards the person she needed to see.
When she arrived at Pei Corp, Pei Yu was standing in the lobby with a group of executives, having just returned from a site visit.
Despite the crowd, Xin Yao’s gaze fixed on Pei Yu.
Seeing her standing there, unharmed, having endured so much in silence, never mentioning her past, Xin Yao’s tears flowed freely.
She ran towards Pei Yu, throwing herself into her arms.
Pei Yu, hearing her approach, turned to see Xin Yao running towards her, tears streaming down her face.
Like a butterfly, she collided with Pei Yu, her embrace filling Pei Yu’s heart with a joy she had never known before.
Pei Yu’s arms tightened around Xin Yao, holding her close, her heart filled with a fierce, protective love.
