Chapter 29: Transmigrated as the Abusive Story’s Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character
Pei Yu was different tonight.
Wilder than usual, her passion almost rivaling her possessive phase.
As she moved above Xin Yao, her eyes, usually a clear, blood-red, darkened to a deep crimson, her pupils narrowing into black slits, a restless energy burning within them.
Her gaze, intense and possessive, made Xin Yao’s heart race.
She hadn’t intended for this to happen.
But lying in bed, she couldn’t sleep, her mind replaying the scene of Xu’s father’s fall.
Restless, she turned over, burying her face in Pei Yu’s embrace.
Pei Yu’s arms tightened around her. “Can’t sleep?”
Soothed by Pei Yu’s gentle voice, Xin Yao looked up at her, her gaze lingering on her eyes, her lips, her long, white eyelashes, her red eyes like shimmering jewels.
Without a word, she kissed Pei Yu, her kiss fierce and demanding, as if needing to release some pent-up emotion, her lips pressing against Pei Yu’s.
The soft pink of Pei Yu’s lips deepened to a vibrant red, like a blooming rose, their tongues intertwining, their shared warmth intensifying.
Usually, a single glance from Xin Yao was enough to trigger Pei Yu’s heat cycle. This kiss was overwhelming.
Pei Yu’s fingers tightened around Xin Yao’s waist, her tongue flicking out like a snake’s, her eyes darkening.
But Xin Yao was even more aggressive.
She pushed Pei Yu onto her back, then straddled her, her legs pinning Pei Yu’s slender waist, her hands gripping her shirt collar, her kiss almost savage.
It awakened a primal instinct within Pei Yu.
She wrapped her arms around Xin Yao’s waist, her hand cupping the back of her head, her tongue meeting Xin Yao’s in a passionate dance.
It was their most intense kiss yet.
But Xin Yao, a mere human, was no match for the demon’s stamina. She gradually weakened, her body melting against Pei Yu’s.
Pei Yu, however, grew more excited.
She enjoyed both the fiery passion and the soft surrender, the feeling of Xin Yao’s body yielding beneath her, the sense of control it gave her, sending shivers down her spine.
She flipped Xin Yao onto her back, pinning her against the bed.
Xin Yao looked into Pei Yu’s eyes, their red hue so dark that they were almost black, filled with an emotion she couldn’t decipher, but instinctively feared.
She reached out, touching the corner of Pei Yu’s eye. “Why are you so excited tonight…?”
Before she could finish her question, her body tensed, her voice trembling.
It felt as if she had been tossed high by a wave, then plunged into the depths of the ocean, her senses overwhelmed.
As she regained her bearings, she felt the warmth of Pei Yu’s tail against her skin.
She bit her lip, her breath coming in short gasps, glaring at Pei Yu.
“Are you crazy?!”
Her angry words made Pei Yu’s pupils contract into pinpricks.
She remembered the vision she had seen that afternoon.
—A beautiful woman, angry and resentful, trapped in her embrace, calling her a mad dog.
Yet, unable to escape, surrendering to her touch, her body yielding to her desires.
Pei Yu’s throat tightened. She looked at Xin Yao, her eyes blazing with anger, and kissed her, her voice a husky whisper.
“Wife, say it again.”
Xin Yao, her mind still hazy, thought she had misheard. She looked at Pei Yu, incredulous.
“Are you okay?”
Not only was she okay, but she was also encouraging Xin Yao’s anger.
Pei Yu’s gaze intensified as she kissed Xin Yao again, her passion unrestrained, almost devouring.
When she finally released Xin Yao, she was breathless, tears welling up in her eyes, her cheeks flushed, her gaze a mixture of anger and vulnerability.
“Are you crazy?! You beast! Get off me!”
The more Xin Yao resisted, the more excited Pei Yu became.
Xin Yao almost learned the true meaning of a sleepless night.
Fortunately, Pei Yu still retained some semblance of control, afraid of pushing Xin Yao too far.
Finally released, Xin Yao, exhausted, let Pei Yu help her wash up before collapsing into her arms, falling into a deep sleep.
The next morning, Pei Yu had to go to the office.
Xin Yao, having other plans, woke up a little later.
As she emerged from the bedroom, still in her pajamas, Pei Yu was already dressed and ready to leave.
Her clothes were always in the same muted tones of black, white, and gray, her business attire making her appear even more aloof and professional.
Today, she was wearing a gray pantsuit, a white shirt buttoned to the top, and a matching tie.
Her white hair was neatly tied back, and her rimless glasses partially obscured her eyes.
Standing in the morning light, she looked like the cold, untouchable CEO, no trace of the passionate beast who had demanded Xin Yao’s insults the previous night.
Xin Yao, momentarily captivated, quickly snapped out of her daze, a small huff of annoyance escaping her lips.
Seeing her emerge from the bedroom, Pei Yu paused, her expression softening.
“You’re awake? I made breakfast. It’s still warm. Eat after you’ve washed up.”
Despite her gentle tone, Xin Yao deliberately turned her head away.
“Okay.”
The morning sunlight illuminated her face, her eyelashes shimmering gold, her cheeks soft and flushed, like a ripe peach.
Pei Yu leaned closer, her lips brushing against Xin Yao’s ear, her warm breath tickling her skin.
“Yaoyao, you sounded very beautiful last night.”
“You!” Xin Yao whirled around, her face burning.
Shameless!
Pei Yu wasn’t teasing her. She meant it.
But she didn’t have time for this now. If she lingered, she might not make it to work.
Her eyes softening, she stroked Xin Yao’s hair.
“I’m going to the office. Call me if you need anything.”
The door clicked shut behind her.
Xin Yao touched her hair, a small smile playing on her lips.
But after Pei Yu left, Xin Yao wasn’t idle.
She had other matters to attend to.
Besides the truth about Xu’s father’s death, there was another thing that bothered her.
—Xu Qing’s cousin, the paparazzi, whom Liu Yue had mentioned.
After their meeting, Xin Yao had looked into the online bullying Xin Wanyin had endured.
The internet’s fury, while fleeting, had left lasting scars. Looking back, Xin Yao could see the extent of the damage, the darkness Xin Wanyin had faced.
The more she thought about it, the more suspicious she became, her expression darkening.
She slammed her hand on the table.
“Wang Dui Dui!”
[Your humble servant is here!]
“Minion, prepare for battle!”
Where were they going?
To find the scumbag’s relative, the paparazzi cousin, and get some answers.
This was easier for Xin Yao than for Liu Yue.
While Liu Yue had to investigate, Xin Yao simply had to ask the system for information.
The cousin was the son of the relatives who had stolen Xu Qing’s father’s compensation.
They hadn’t enjoyed their ill-gotten gains for long, dying soon after.
The money, of course, had gone to their son, who was also a degenerate gambler and quickly squandered it all.
He now worked as a paparazzi to make ends meet.
Today was a good day for the cousin. He had just won some money gambling and was walking home, whistling cheerfully.
As he walked through a narrow alley, he felt a tap on his shoulder.
He turned around, his face breaking into a smile.
And then he saw a giant dog’s face.
The next moment, the dog grinned, raised a large stick, and brought it down on his head.
“Thwack!”
The cousin’s eyes rolled back, and he collapsed onto the ground.
When he regained consciousness, he found himself tied up and dumped in a dark corner of the alley.
He groaned, his head throbbing, and looked up to see a beautiful woman standing before him, a large dog beside her.
He wasn’t sure whether to focus on the woman or the dog.
He thought he was dreaming.
But the lump on his head, and the throbbing pain, told him otherwise.
As for the dog-person, it must be some kind of disguise. It couldn’t possibly be a real dog.
The cousin, a seasoned street hustler, wriggled on the ground, trying to sit up.
“Who are you? I’m calling the cops!”
It was Xin Yao and the dog system, of course.
Xin Yao, her face hidden behind dark sunglasses, her expression cold and aloof, looked down at him, her arms crossed.
She chuckled.
“Don’t worry about who I am. Worry about yourself. Hiding from your creditors, aren’t you?”
She held up her phone, its screen flashing, her finger scrolling through her contacts.
“I have a list of your creditors here. Quite a few, aren’t there? Imagine what would happen if they all gathered here in this alley.”
The cousin’s face paled, his body trembling.
“Who are you? What do you want?!”
Xin Yao smiled, walking towards him and kneeling down, tapping his face with her phone.
“Relax. I just want to ask you a few questions.”
“Xu Qing. You know him, right? Are you still in contact?”
Xu Qing? Had that kid caused trouble again?
Panicked, the cousin’s first instinct was to deny it.
“I barely know him! We haven’t spoken in years!”
Xin Yao slapped him across the face with her phone.
“Don’t call me ‘sister.’ I don’t like it. Try again.”
The cousin was stunned.
“We really haven’t…”
“Slap!” Another slap. “Think again.”
“Really…”
“Slap! Think harder.”
“Sis, I really… Yes, yes, yes! Stop hitting me! I remember! Two years ago! Xu Qing hired me for a job!”
Xin Yao finally lowered her hand. “What job?”
“To… to follow a small-time actress,” the cousin stammered, his face twitching.
“And then?” Xin Yao stood up, looking down at him. “Tell me everything.”
“Nothing special, really. Just following her around, taking pictures of her, who she was with, that sort of thing.” The cousin shifted uncomfortably on the ground. “Let me start from the beginning.”
“I was deep in debt, so I started working as a paparazzi. I even built up a small network of online trolls.”
“Then, Xu Qing contacted me, saying he needed help with a smear campaign. Of course I agreed.”
“He asked me to follow this actress, take pictures of her having dinner with her father, shopping at luxury stores, that sort of thing.”
“Then, she got a role in a popular drama, and Xu Qing spent days scouring her social media, finally finding a post where she had criticized the male lead’s acting. He told me to unleash my trolls on her.”
“Things were already heated online, and with a little push from us, it blew up. She was bullied into quitting the industry.”
“So,” Xin Yao’s voice was calm, “Xu Qing orchestrated the entire thing?”
The cousin’s eyes were wide with confusion.
“Of course! I was just doing my job, following orders.”
“What was the actress’s name?”
“Let me think… Xin… Xin Wanyin?”
Xin Yao looked up at the sky, the midday sun so bright that it made her eyes ache. The wind was cold against her skin.
After a long silence, she lowered her gaze.
“I see.”
So, that was Xu Qing’s game.
She had always thought Xin Wanyin was simply naive, blinded by love.
But it had all been a carefully orchestrated scheme.
Xu Qing had targeted Xin Wanyin long before she had realized.
He had first hired someone to take pictures of her with her father, and of her extravagant lifestyle.
Then, during the chaotic online discussions surrounding her third drama, he had exposed her vulnerability and used his trolls to fuel the fire.
And when the flames were high enough, he had released the photos, fanning the flames into a raging inferno.
Step by step, he had pushed Xin Wanyin into the abyss.
And when she was at her lowest, he had appeared, offering her a lifeline, becoming her savior.
That’s why she had fallen so deeply in love with him.
And until now, Xin Wanyin had no idea that the darkness she had faced had been orchestrated by the man she loved.
Xin Yao turned to the cousin, who was trying to crawl away, only to be stopped by the dog system.
“You still have the evidence, don’t you?”
The cousin, always cautious, had kept backups of everything, just in case. He looked at Xin Yao, his voice trembling.
“Yes, sis, I do.”
Good.
Very good.
It was time to pay that scumbag back.
Back home, Xin Yao’s mood was still somber.
It was getting dark. She didn’t turn on the lights, sitting in silence on the sofa, letting the darkness envelop her.
But tonight, Pei Yu wouldn’t emerge from the shadows to comfort her.
She sat there alone, leaning back against the soft cushions, her head tilted back, trying to relax.
But as she closed her eyes, images flashed through her mind: Xu’s father’s fall, the tragic fate of the Xin family in her previous life.
Her mind reeled, overwhelmed by the memories.
She felt a strange sensation, a growing pressure in her head. She tried to stand up, but she couldn’t open her eyes.
The more she struggled, the more chaotic her thoughts became, like a rollercoaster spiraling out of control.
Then, suddenly, she felt herself falling.
And as she fell, she felt a strange sense of clarity.
This familiar sensation… wasn’t it Pei Yu’s time-reversal ability?
Why had it been triggered? What would she see this time?
She opened her eyes.
And as she saw the scene before her, despite her mental preparation, her heart skipped a beat, her eyes widening in shock.
