The Vampire Eldest Miss Thinks I Like Her 32

Chapter 32: The Otherworldly Assassin

The wind carried scents from afar and also dispersed them. If it weren’t for someone like Jasmine with enhanced senses, it would be nearly impossible to discern any specific smell. Even for vampires with their superior sense of smell, it would be difficult. Moreover, it was daytime, and the vampires were sound asleep. The high-ranking vampires hadn’t noticed that an otherworldly being had mingled with the human servants and boarded the airship.

Although vampires ruled this world, their weakness was too obvious—they feared sunlight. Therefore, they generally didn’t move around during the day, especially on the ground. Unless they were in a safe place, even sleeping inside a car during the day could be risky. Otherworldly beings could drag them out and expose them to the sun.

Despite their dominion, otherworldly beings still lurked in the shadows, ready to strike at any opportunity. They hadn’t been completely subdued. However, traveling only at night and resting in safe areas during the day was too time-consuming, doubling the travel time, which seemed inefficient to the highly efficient vampires. So, they funded some humans, combining human inventions with vampire magic, and created airships.

They were in the sky, while those otherworldly beings could only stay on the ground, unable to attack them.

However, there were occasional news reports of otherworldly beings infiltrating airships and attacking vampires. In recent years, with the Council of Elders tightening their control over the airship company, such incidents had become rare. Jasmine remembered that the last time she had seen a related article in the newspaper was three years ago.

Jasmine didn’t want to get involved in the conflicts between otherworldly beings and vampires. However, since they had targeted the airship she was on, it became a problem. She couldn’t just stand by and watch them kill Adele, could she? Other vampires were one thing, but Adele was a good girl who had never harmed humans—wait, that wasn’t entirely true. She had drunk Jasmine’s blood once last semester.

Anyway, Adele hadn’t harmed any weak humans.

Jasmine decided to ignore them for now. The airship’s interior wasn’t particularly large, and if she dealt with the otherworldly beings, it would be difficult to clean up the mess and might attract the attention of other such beings. If she eliminated all of them and threw them off the airship one by one, it would be unethical littering from a high altitude and would also alert the vampires.

With so many people suddenly disappearing, as long as the vampires on the airship weren’t fools, they would definitely realize something was wrong.

But if those otherworldly beings messed with Adele and her, then they shouldn’t blame Jasmine for being ruthless.

Jasmine yawned and leaned against the balcony railing, continuing to bask in the sun. The balcony of the VIP suite was like that of a high-rise apartment. The breeze and the warm sunlight felt incredibly comfortable. As Jasmine was enjoying herself, she noticed someone staring at her. She looked down and locked onto the culprit—it was an otherworldly being.

Jasmine guessed that the being was surprised, perhaps even thinking they were mistaken. After all, on a vampire airship, they had spotted a human freely basking in the sun.

Soon, all the people in line boarded the airship under the urging of the staff. Because it was daytime, the staff maintaining order were all ordinary humans. The vampire staff stayed inside the airship, avoiding any exposure to sunlight. Even so, they weren’t very energetic during the day.

After confirming that no one was left behind, the airship gently vibrated and rose again. To avoid suspicion, Jasmine went back into her room. When the time was right, she lay down on the bed and went to sleep. Jasmine had a very accurate biological clock, and when night fell, she opened her eyes.

Just as she finished changing her clothes, Jasmine heard a knock on the door. She opened the door and went out, greeting Adele first, then making black tea for her. After Adele finished her tea, they went to the dining hall for dinner, just like the previous two nights. Their journey was coming to an end. Tonight, around midnight, the airship would dock at the port near the Blake family castle, where a Blake family vehicle would be waiting.

“Jasmine, you need to eat quickly tonight. After dinner, you need to go back to your room and pack your things.”

“Yes, Miss.”

Jasmine followed Adele into the dining hall and ordered a main course and a side dish. The side dish was french fries with ketchup, and the main course was meatballs with grilled corn. The manager reluctantly agreed and even inquired about the recipe for the french fries. The restaurant was very efficient. Soon, Jasmine’s meal was served.

The next moment, Jasmine started eating at lightning speed. Adele was stunned by Jasmine’s speed and couldn’t help but say, “There’s no need to rush. We have plenty of time.”

—No time, there’s no time at all! She had already sensed those otherworldly beings causing trouble downstairs, and a few powerful ones were heading upstairs. They would arrive at the dining hall soon. If she didn’t eat now, there wouldn’t be time later!

Nothing could stop a hungry person from eating, nothing!

Jasmine quickly finished her meal and even ordered a cup of black tea without sugar. The restaurant’s service was truly excellent. The tea was served at the perfect temperature, much better than what she could brew herself. As a maid, Jasmine should learn from them.

By the time Jasmine finished her tea and cleared her throat, she could sense that the otherworldly beings had arrived. There was some commotion outside, and the vampires with their sharp ears also heard it. They didn’t take it seriously, but instead commented with a hint of sarcasm, “It seems the airship’s service isn’t that great after all. To think there would be trouble up here, how uncivilized.”

The manager frowned and went outside. Jasmine estimated that he wouldn’t be a match for the otherworldly beings. As expected, within moments, the manager was kicked back into the dining hall by one of them. Some of the vampire ladies screamed in fright and were shielded by their husbands.

Some vampire ladies, however, frowned and extended their claws, ready to fight. As for the men, the situation was similar, except that weaker vampire men wouldn’t have wives protecting them. Because the vampire world was a world of survival of the fittest.

Although that was the case, not all vampires were warriors. Some nobles raised their children without expecting them to inherit the family business, but simply as marriage partners. They possessed great power but didn’t know how to use it. It sounded quite pitiful.

Besides the adult vampires, there were also a few children. One lady even shouted, “My child! My child is still in the cabin!” It seemed that this couple had left their child behind to come out for dinner. Now that they were in danger, neither of them was by their child’s side. It was no wonder she was so terrified.

Jasmine watched everything unfold, finding it rather amusing. These vampires with their great power didn’t seem that different from ordinary humans. If the upper class of her previous life had encountered such a situation during a gathering, it would probably be similar.

While she was lost in thought, Adele approached her and pulled her behind her, “Jasmine, don’t go anywhere, stay behind me.” Her nails extended, black and sharp, deadly to the touch.

Adele’s instinctive act of protecting her in this situation warmed Jasmine’s heart, even though in reality, if they really needed protection, it was more likely that Jasmine would be protecting Adele. Most importantly, Jasmine hoped that Adele wouldn’t act rashly, because the otherworldly beings who had arrived this time were quite powerful. They could probably easily defeat Adele.

After the manager was kicked back into the dining hall, several otherworldly beings entered. Jasmine assessed them: two werewolves, a rabbit-man, a black-robed figure who reeked of snakes, and a group of minotaurs.

This lineup could be considered top-tier among otherworldly beings. The werewolves were both assassins and frontliners, while the minotaurs were tanks. The rabbit-man was a scout with incredible speed, and the black-robed figure, judging from their position, was likely a mage. Without a well-coordinated team of vampires, it would be difficult to defeat them.

However, the black-robed figure’s snake scent was too strong. Jasmine was certain that their lower body was human, not serpentine. She couldn’t figure out what kind of creature they were.

One of the werewolves stepped forward and addressed the vampires, “We are the… Resistance Army, is that what it’s called?” Hearing this, the vampires present started murmuring among themselves.

“The Human Resistance Army? Why are there otherworldly beings in the Human Resistance Army?”

“We’ve been tricked! I knew it was impossible for the Human Resistance Army to defeat the vampires sent to suppress them. It turns out they have otherworldly beings helping them!”

“So that’s it! Humans are actually colluding with those gutter rats!”

Jasmine, who heard everything clearly, felt exasperated. She wanted to stand up and explain: “No, it’s not like that! Let me explain! The Human Resistance Army is truly, purely human, without a single otherworldly being!”

She also understood that these otherworldly beings were taking advantage of the situation, using the name of the Human Resistance Army to cover up their robbery.

Logically, Jasmine should be grateful to them. Their actions would muddy the waters further, creating more room for the Human Resistance Army to operate. When the vampires came to suppress the humans, they would make unnecessary preparations because they believed otherworldly beings were involved. This was a good thing for them.

However, these guys were using the name of the Human Resistance Army to do such despicable things. Jasmine just wanted to slaughter them all. Although the Human Resistance Army often engaged in guerrilla warfare, they were principled. They only targeted the strongholds of the thirteen clans and the Council of Elders, never attacking places without any resistance.

These shameless scoundrels!

As Jasmine gritted her teeth in anger, she heard Adele say, “They can’t be the Human Resistance Army; he can’t even remember the name correctly.” Her voice was loud enough for all the vampires and otherworldly beings present to hear. The other vampires also realized it.

That’s right, he couldn’t even remember his own name.
