Chapter 29: Paradise Mountain
Three or four long swords slashed down one after another. Asker slid under the Slumbering Warriors’ siege. He bounced up from the ground, and the sword light suddenly erupted upwards. Far Eastern swordsmanship, Rising Dragon Slash!
The Slumbering Warrior in front was blocking with his sword horizontally, but his defense was broken by the powerful attack of Rising Dragon Slash. Asker followed up with a Falling Phoenix Slash, his sword slashing straight into his head. Asker held the sword with both hands, dragged the corpse around him, and used it as a meat shield to block countless attacks from the surroundings.
Then he abruptly pulled out his sword, a Half Moon Slash forcing back the enemies around him, and randomly chose a direction to break through. The Slumbering Warrior in that direction was about to intercept, when Asker’s sword suddenly slanted downwards, stabbing straight at his foot.
He hurriedly swung his sword to block. Asker’s sword bounced off his blade and shot straight at his throat in a strange reverse direction. Caucasian assassination technique, Sand Sword!
The tip of the sword pierced into the throat and was pulled out, bringing out a splash of blood. Asker turned and sidestepped, dodging the pincer attack of several Slumbering Warriors, and suddenly slashed upwards with his sword. It was the Eastern Solomon military swordsmanship “Wing Beat,” forcibly breaking the opponent’s block, followed by a “Double Thrust,” stabbing a bloody hole in the opponent’s chest. Then he grabbed the corpse’s shoulder, blocked the surrounding attacks, and kicked it away.
In a flash, he killed four Slumbering Warriors, so much so that Archbishop Alexander began to feel distressed, remotely controlling the warriors to withdraw from the encirclement and letting the remaining steel knight illusions go up to attack.
Asker rolled, dodging the knight’s spear thrust, and suddenly drew out his Desert Eagle and aimed it at Archbishop Alexander, his eyes noticing that Peggy was approaching the boss from behind.
Peggy also winked at him, and a subtle tacit understanding arose between the two.
A gunshot rang out, and Asker’s Desert Eagle roared, spitting out flames. Archbishop Alexander immediately activated his dream materialization ability, pulling out a passage to the collective unconscious in the air, swallowing the elephant hunting bullet.
Then a fatal pain came from his chest: a short sword pierced through his chest from behind, so much so that he could no longer maintain the passage to the collective unconscious. The next bullet from the Desert Eagle shattered his skull. The skull, along with the brains inside, exploded, red, white, and gray, splattering all over Peggy, who had no time to dodge.
“Ugh, ugh, ugh!” She spat in disgust, constantly patting the brains, flesh, and skull fragments on her body.
The last steel knight illusion disappeared. Eleanor charged in with her shield and spear. The two met on the battlefield, both blocking the attacks of the Slumbering Warriors on both sides. Asker’s voice was heard:
“Let Medea get out of her frenzy.”
So Eleanor broke through the enemy lines again and shouted to Medea in the distance:
“Enough, Medea, close your eyes!”
Medea in the flames was already at the end of her rope, she could only forcibly extract spirituality from her almost dried-up spirit body. Hearing Eleanor’s shout, she closed her eyes forcefully and activated her mental ability on herself:
“There are no pigs here… There are no pigs here… Everything is a false illusion…”
The disgust that had been entrenched in her consciousness gradually faded, and a feeling of weakness returned to her limbs. The flames on her body extinguished, and she slowly collapsed to the ground, supported by Eleanor, who had rushed over, her right spear deflecting the enemy’s siege.
Asker’s gunshots rang out rhythmically in the distance, and Peggy, bathed in blood, also arrived like a demon, beginning to slaughter the remaining Slumbering Warriors.
These guys immersed in dreams had no pain, no fear. If they were coordinated under unified command, they would be quite powerful warriors. However, because all the priest bosses were dead, the flaws of their own mechanical intelligence were exposed, and they were easily killed by the three.
“Healing is here!” Seeing that there were no more enemies standing on the field, Nuo hurriedly ran over, first helping up Medea, who was the most seriously injured. She found that her spirituality was severely overdrawn, and almost all her organs were failing.
The frenzy state was really harmful to her. Nuo could only use Healing Touch to move around inside her body, slowly soothing the abnormal movements of the cells with her extraordinary ability, and letting nutritious blood flow back into the tense and convulsing tissues.
“Okay, who’s next?” After spending two or three minutes stabilizing Medea’s injuries, Nuo raised her tired face and looked at everyone.
The second most seriously injured was naturally Eleanor. As the MT, this girl had been guarding the berserk Medea, taking a lot of damage for her. Thanks to the strong defense of the meteorite armor, Eleanor didn’t have any serious wounds, only a lot of tissue contusions, muscle strains, and minor fractures.
“Okay.” Nuo quickly healed her, gave her a healing injection, and turned her head. “What about Peggy? What about Mr. Asker? Don’t you need healing?”
“I’m not injured.” Peggy said coolly with her arms crossed, with a proud expression of “Can my speed be injured?”
“Okay.” Nuo looked at Peggy, who was covered in blood, and wondered if it was all the enemy’s blood? Miss Peggy of the Flesh Sequence was also a very powerful extraordinary being. If even she wasn’t injured, then the more powerful Mr. Asker must be safe and sound, right?
“I need healing.” Asker walked over and said.
“Huh?” Nuo suddenly wondered if she had heard wrong.
“I fired too many shots, my wrist is a bit dislocated.” Asker said with a wry smile.
Nuo pulled over his right hand and saw that the joint was indeed severely swollen. That Desert Eagle, it seemed to be using 15.2mm large-caliber bullets? Such a strong recoil, and he actually pulled the trigger continuously in a short period of time, no wonder Mr. Asker’s wrist couldn’t stand it.
Thinking this, she gently stroked Asker’s wrist with Healing Touch, and suddenly blushed shyly.
“Thank you.” Asker retracted his right hand and observed it, finding that the swelling of the joint had subsided. This NPC’s healing level was really quite good. Solid operating skills were the basic quality of a professional healer. I really didn’t choose the wrong person.
Asker, who didn’t notice the other party’s blush at all, was complacent about his own judgment and luck in choosing people.
The dungeon battle ended here. From the corpses of the Slumbering Warriors lying all over the ground, pale blue extraordinary characteristics emerged. Counting the number of corpses, there were about twenty of them, which meant…
“More than twenty extraordinary characteristics!” Nuo exclaimed excitedly.
“Slumbering Warriors in the Dreamland Paradise sect are just low-level existences similar to disposable experimental subjects.” Asker shook his head. “Their levels are generally around level 1, and they only possess the most basic Dream I extraordinary characteristic. But more than twenty… This number is indeed a bit exaggerated. I guess we have wiped out the entire Eastern Solomon branch of Dreamland Paradise this time.”
He walked to a corpse, pinched a Dream I extraordinary characteristic in his hand, savored it, and sighed:
“There’s not much extraordinary power in it…”
“Nuo!” Asker suddenly thought of something. “Ask that Kieran from the Life School if he’s interested in these 20 Dream I characteristics. We can sell them to him in bulk, and these five high-ranking priests, they should be level 4 extraordinary beings, their characteristics can also be sold separately.”
“Okay.” Nuo immediately took out her phone and started contacting the senior from the Life School.
Medea was still in a coma due to spiritual overdraft, so she couldn’t raise any objections to Asker selling all the extraordinary characteristics at once. The other girls didn’t care either. Anyway, they didn’t know what the Dream I characteristic was for, so it was better to sell it and split the money.
So the disposal of the spoils was happily decided. Asker checked the corpses of the priests again and found several potion formulas for Dream I, Mind I, and Shadow I. He kept them for the time being as knowledge reserves.
The last question was how to deal with the big ball of light in the sky. Asker squinted his eyes and looked inside the big ball of light.
There seemed to be an object vaguely there? Located in the core position?
“Eleanor!” Asker beckoned Eleanor over. “Look at the center of the ball of light, is there something there?”
“It seems so.” Eleanor also squinted her eyes. “It seems to be… a book?”
“You throw your spear at it and see if you can knock it down.” Asker said.
“Okay.” Eleanor picked up her spear with one hand, aimed at the ball of light for a while, stretched out her arm, and threw it forcefully. There was a clatter, and the entire ball of light shattered. The spear was firmly inserted into the ground, and then a book fell down.
It was an old-looking book, the paper almost yellowed. The cover of the book was wrapped in brown cowhide, and a string of fancy English words was written on it in blue-black ink:
Absurd Dreams
This was a separate volume of Freud’s writings, a mystical paper studying the mental body and dreams. However, its most important function was not to record knowledge, but to…
… preserve the fragment of Paradise Mountain.
Asker’s spirituality unfolded, quickly extending to this book “Absurd Dreams.” Through the vision of spirituality, he could clearly see a door half open in the depths of the book, one end of the door connected to the ocean and the continent, which was a symbol of reality; the other end connected to the vast sky and sea of clouds, which was the key to the semi-plane, the fragment marker of Paradise Mountain.
Spirituality gently touched the door, and Asker closed it forcefully. Everyone felt their eyes blur, and the mountains, forests, islands… under their feet all disappeared in an instant. They were sitting on the small boat provided by the merchant ship, the ropes, oil lamps, oars, supplies, and signal flares were neatly placed at the stern. Around them was the boundless sea water and waves, sparkling with a mottled golden luster in the morning sunlight.
“What happened?” Nuo looked around in confusion. Eleanor grabbed the side of the boat in disbelief, reached out and stirred the cold sea water. She checked the ropes on the boat suspiciously, they were indeed neatly arranged in bundles. But they had clearly tied it to the tree last night, when the boat landed on the shoal…
If it weren’t for Medea, who was suffering from spiritual overdraft, still lying on Nuo’s lap, everyone would have really thought that the all-night battle was just a dream they all had.
“Asker…” Nuo cast a questioning look at Asker. Anyway, when encountering any strange supernatural event, just ask this omniscient captain.
Asker smiled slightly, controlled the book in his hand with spirituality, and pushed open the door again. The surrounding scenery changed instantly, and they were sitting on the flat mountaintop, the rising sun climbing into the sky in the distance.
Then he closed the door with spirituality, and the island and mountains disappeared again. They were still sitting neatly in the small boat.
“This book.” Asker showed everyone the book in his hand. “It’s called ‘Absurd Dreams,’ and it contains a semi-plane fragment from Paradise Mountain.”
