Chapter 44: To the Church Headquarters
After Yuehua Fengyun’s treatment, she stood up and moved her limbs. Luo Yuxi knew her image was completely ruined. Yun Keke, the culprit, was watching the commotion with amusement, even mimicking a cat’s movements.
“Meow, meow~ Big sister, don’t I look cute~? Do you want to rub my belly~?”
Luo Yuxi was about to explode. If it weren’t for Yuehua Fengyun’s presence, she would have given Yun Keke another spanking.
As Luo Yuxi was thinking of an explanation, a group of nuns entered. Yuehua Fengyun looked at them without any intention of speaking. Luo Yuxi noticed their outfits were different from her traditional black and white habit. Theirs were pure white.
“Punishment Nun Ping Yue, greetings, Bishop…”
“You’re too slow. At this rate, the witch would have escaped.”
Yuehua Fengyun showed no warmth. Ping Yue simply nodded and went to the ice crystal encasing Herolise. Hearing her name, Luo Yuxi suddenly remembered something important: in the game, it was Ping Yue who, during her patrol, discovered the protagonist with the Goddess’s blessing and brought her to the Church.
“If I ask her, I can meet the protagonist! Then I can push all the witch problems onto her, and I’ll be safe!”
Luo Yuxi was about to approach Ping Yue when Yuehua Fengyun blocked her way, hands on her hips.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
“I… I want to ask that nun something…”
“Ask what? You’re all packed, let’s go. They’ll handle things here…”
Yuehua Fengyun grabbed Luo Yuxi’s wrist, clearly not wanting her to talk to Ping Yue, or any other nun for that matter. Luo Yuxi looked at her in confusion. She just wanted to ask a question, why the rush to headquarters?
“Just one question, then I’ll go! Hey! Bishop, don’t push me…”
Before Luo Yuxi could finish, she was bundled up and thrown into a carriage heading for the magic station. Yun Keke, trying to join the fun, was also thrown in. Yu Keke, more obedient, simply nodded at Yuehua Fengyun and boarded the carriage.
“Go to the magic station, take Line 14, it goes directly to Apal. The Church headquarters is there. Just give your name.”
“But I still have questions…!”
“What for? When you get back, everything will be the same, don’t worry…”
“That’s not what I want to ask!”
Luo Yuxi leaned out of the carriage, but she couldn’t ask about the protagonist. If the basic plot hadn’t changed, the protagonist should be a trainee nun at headquarters.
“Then I can cling to her! With my game knowledge and the protagonist’s natural charm, capturing those witches will be a piece of cake~”
Luo Yuxi almost laughed out loud. The game mentioned the protagonist’s natural affinity with others. She could build her own witch harem, and Luo Yuxi could find her own true love. A perfect plan! Yun Keke, seeing Luo Yuxi’s mischievous smile, nudged Yu Keke.
“Hey~ Little Yu, do you think big sister was hit too hard and went crazy?”
“I… I don’t think so. I think she’s just thinking about something happy…”
As the carriage carrying Luo Yuxi left, Yuehua Fengyun looked at Lin Jian, then at Ping Yue, who had just finished drawing a magic circle on the ground.
“A live witch? Wonderful~~”
Ping Yue looked at the ice-encased Herolise, her demeanor completely different from her usual calm self. Yuehua Fengyun watched as she took out heavy restraints from her bag, the magic circle beneath Herolise glowing, the ice beginning to melt.
“Another test subject. Great Goddess, I will become the closest to you~”
Ping Yue looked at Herolise with excitement. The witch everyone feared was just a research subject in her eyes. Yuehua Fengyun nudged Lin Jian, who was expressionless, and whispered,
“Are all your Punishment Nuns like this…?”
“No, she’s special…”
…
Standing on a tall tower, Alice watched the departing carriage, her crimson eyes gleaming. She felt her fangs growing, a flush of excitement on her face, as if she had smelled fine wine.
“My bloodlust period is approaching. I was going to sneak over tonight, but running away is not allowed~”
Alice narrowed her eyes, watching the carriage, then melted into the shadows. In a spacious room, she emerged from the shadows. The maids, seeing her, weren’t surprised.
“Someone, book me a ticket to Apal. I need to be there by tomorrow…”
“You’re not going anywhere, my… sister…”
Alice glared at Isabelle, her nominal older sister, who immediately rushed over to check her body. Isabelle examined Alice carefully and, noticing a slight redness on her hand from sun exposure, immediately ordered the maids to bring medicine.
“Really, I told you not to run around, it’s dangerous outside~”
“Get away, I don’t need your fake concern. This small injury will heal in a few seconds.”
Isabelle, unfazed by Alice’s coldness, took the bandages and ointment from a maid and carefully applied them to Alice’s hand. Alice didn’t pull her hand away.
“Such an ugly bandage, completely unnecessary…”
Alice tore off the bandage and threw it on the ground, stomping on it like trash. Isabelle, seeing her disgust, held Alice’s hand. As a half-blood, although she had weaknesses, she also had strong regenerative abilities.
“It’s already healed, that’s great. No scars either…”
“Who allowed you to touch me?!”
“Ouch!”
Alice pushed Isabelle to the ground without mercy. Although she hadn’t used much force, as a half-blood vampire, her strength was still greater than an ordinary human’s. Alice glanced at a photo of a woman who looked eight parts like her, with the same white hair and crimson eyes, and felt a pang of pain.
“If it weren’t for Mother, you would be a beggar on the streets…”
“Lady Lilith…”
“Don’t you dare say her name!!”
Isabelle, a human, couldn’t possibly be Alice’s sister. Alice’s only family, her mother Lilith, had been severely injured protecting this little beggar she had picked up from the streets, caught in the crossfire between witches and the Church, her body never recovered.
“The only reason I haven’t killed you is because your life belongs to my mother. You don’t have the right to die…”
“I… I understand. I’m forever Lady Lilith’s slave~”
Isabelle felt no resentment towards Alice’s harsh treatment, even a sense of relief. Whether it was guilt or her own nature, being hated by Alice gave her a strange sense of pleasure.
“I’m going to Apal. There’s someone I want to see…”
“No! You’re almost fully awakened! Going to Church headquarters is suicide!”
Isabelle, who had been indulging Alice, now vehemently opposed her plan. Lilith’s words, asking her to take care of Alice, echoed in her mind. She couldn’t let Alice go into danger.
“Sister will agree to anything, anything at all, but not this!”
“I’m just informing you, not asking for your permission…”
Alice took a sip of wine. Isabelle looked at her anxiously. When she was young, picked up by Lilith, she had been captivated by her elegance. Now, Lilith’s daughter was about to go into danger again. Isabelle wanted to chain her to this room.
“Please don’t leave me, Alice… Sister is begging you…”
“Heh, if it weren’t for Mother, you wouldn’t even have the right to call yourself my sister. You think you have the right to order me around…?”
Alice melted into the shadows. Isabelle looked at the photo of Lilith on the wall, her image overlapping with Alice’s.
“Maybe this is wrong. Are my feelings for Lady Lilith also impure…?“
