Chapter 28: Critically Injured Luo Yuxi
With Sybil recovered, the remaining succubi weren’t much of a threat. Although they had come with an assassination plan, a large number of high-Order individuals crossing the Elven Forest’s barrier would trigger an alarm. Therefore, the highest-ranking succubus Ruo Li brought was only 8th Order.
“In that case, I just need to wait for the Elf Queen to emerge…”
“Look! Are those cracks in the barrier?”
Luo Yuxi had just sat down to rest. The previous exertion had taken a toll on her already limited stamina. Hearing Sybil’s words, she looked up curiously.
“There do seem to be cracks… Are they done fighting already?”
Cracks in the barrier meant one of two things: either the fight was nearing its end, or the energy released was exceeding the barrier’s limit. If it was the latter, things would get very bad. This was above the center of the Elven Forest; a battle of this level could alter the terrain.
“No way, why do I have to go through this?!”
Luo Yuxi felt like crying. She had just wanted a relaxing vacation in the forest, with a side trip to the famous brothel, and now this. Was this punishment for her laziness? Sloth was indeed a sin.
“I should just run away. I might feel guilty, but it’s better than…”
“Something’s flying towards us!!!”
Before Luo Yuxi could decide which way to run, a loud crack echoed through the air, and the cocoon-like barrier shattered. She looked up and saw a red figure flying towards her at high speed.
“It looks like… a person…”

Sybil also saw the red figure. Seeing its trajectory, she tried to warn Luo Yuxi, but before she could speak, Luo Yuxi was sent flying.
“Luo Yuxi!!”
Natalie saw Luo Yuxi disappear in an instant. Before they could react, a figure emerged from the hole in the treehouse wall.
“Impossible, how can you be so strong…?”
Ruo Li couldn’t understand. The fight had been within her barrier, the Elf Queen was already injured, and Ruo Li had struck first. She had the advantage of time, place, and “people,” yet she still lost.
“I think I hit something just now…”
Ruo Li moved her body. Luo Yuxi, hit head-on by a witch with the physical strength of a 3rd Order, was embedded in the wall, the taste of blood filling her throat.
“So painful… my ribs are broken… I can’t feel my left arm, it’s probably broken too… my organs are all displaced… if I don’t use healing magic soon…”
Luo Yuxi was a mess. She was lucky she wasn’t torn apart. It must have been the Goddess’s protection. She had instinctively activated her Holy Light Shield at the moment of impact, but even with the shield, it was like paper to Ruo Li.

“Luo Yuxi!!!”
Luo Yuxi opened her eyes slightly and saw Ruo Li looking warily at a glowing figure in the sky. Sybil was looking at her anxiously from a distance, but no one dared approach because of Ruo Li.
“Damn it, I can’t hold on… but it seems the assassination failed. In that case… Sybil and Natalie should heal me, right…? I was so close to seeing the Elf Queen…”
Luo Yuxi lost consciousness. The impact had been too much for her brain to handle. As she slipped into unconsciousness, the pain subsided.
“It seems the assassination has failed…”
“Even if you succeeded, you won’t get away with it! We know who you succubi are!”
“…”
Ruo Li glared at Sybil. She had pierced Sybil’s heart, yet she was still alive and even knew their plan. And that Elf Queen was a monster. Just a mage, yet her magical power was even more terrifying than Ruo Li’s, a witch.
“As expected, it’s all because of her…”
Ruo Li moved her wrist and glanced at the unconscious Luo Yuxi. Her plan had gone wrong, but it wouldn’t have been this bad if it weren’t for that girl. Luo Yuxi had somehow entered her magically shielded brothel.
“Heh, damn Church! Was this also part of your plan?!”
“Don’t struggle, you can’t escape…”
A cold voice came from the sky. Ruo Li looked at the golden figure above, her voice gentle yet somehow reassuring, as if everything she said was true.
“I admit I’m not your match, but you think you can stop me alone? Don’t be so arrogant…”
Ruo Li glanced at the captured succubi and thought, Weaklings are just dead weight. Then, looking at the unconscious Luo Yuxi, a sinister smile appeared on her lips.
“You, the one who ruined my plan, I can’t let you off so easily~”
“What are you doing?! Stop!”
Sybil, sensing Ruo Li’s intentions, ignored the difference in their levels and flew towards her. The Elf Queen in the sky gathered a massive amount of energy.
“You think you can stop me? You’re too slow~”
Ruo Li transformed into a black mist, engulfing Luo Yuxi. Two attacks followed instantly. Within a second, Luo Yuxi was absorbed into the mist and vanished into thin air, as if she had never been there.
“I’ll gladly accept this gift~”
