Side Story 5: Lou Mi x Chi Lin

    “Mom is so ridiculous.”

After Peng Ziyuan left, Lou Mi muttered to herself, as if talking to the older woman.

Chi Lin stood behind her, holding a wine glass, lost in thought. Lou Mi turned to look at her, and their eyes met, a shared understanding passing between them.

Chi Lin, blushing slightly, quickly looked away: “Would Your Majesty like some wine?”

Lou Mi, surprised by her own politeness, said, “Thank you.”

Chi Lin glanced at her, then went to pour the wine.

Lou Mi covered her face with her hands.

It was Peng Ziyuan’s fault, her suggestive comments had made things awkward between them.

    The imagery was too vivid.

Applying the bionic skin to her face and looking in the mirror, she looked almost identical to the younger Chi Lin.

But it was just a mask, unlike the lifelike AI companions manufactured by N-Count, with their simulated nerves and muscles, capable of realistic micro-expressions.

This mask, however, would wrinkle and crease with even the slightest smile, like a snake shedding its skin.

“You have to control your expressions, or your classmates will call the police.”

Lou Mi, while giving Chi Lin instructions, suddenly realized: “Even if your face is disguised, your height and build are completely different, anyone who knows you will be suspicious.”

Chi Lin said: “I don’t have many close friends, I’ll just keep a low profile.”

This made Lou Mi realize that Chi Lin hadn’t mentioned any new friends since starting university.

And she never brought any classmates home, her only close friends still Wei Zhuoning and Lin Xiaozhi, whom she rarely saw.

Being HighTowerMiyuki’s little sister and girlfriend, a professional gamer with a large fan base, made Chi Lin a public figure.

And with her introverted personality, her peers probably found her intimidating, making it difficult to form close friendships.

Chi Lin had never mentioned this, and Lou Mi, busy with work, hadn’t noticed.

Now, hearing Chi Lin’s casual comment, seemingly unconcerned, Lou Mi felt a pang of guilt.

“Come here.” Lou Mi finished her wine in one gulp, sat on the sofa, patted her lap, and beckoned Chi Lin.

Chi Lin obediently sat on her lap.

Lou Mi’s eyes, slightly red-rimmed, were fixed on Chi Lin, her gaze intense, startling Chi Lin, who quickly reassured her:

“I have a full course load, and club activities, I’m really busy. It’s not that I don’t have friends, but we’re not very close. Your Majesty, I’m over thirty, I’ve met enough people in my lifetime, I just want some peace and quiet now, to focus on the things and people I care about, it’s a good thing, why are you upset?”

Lou Mi, holding Chi Lin’s waist, looked up at her.

Chi Lin smiled: “I’m not trying to comfort you, I’m being honest.”

Lou Mi’s tears didn’t fall, and she smiled back:

“So, you can read my mind now?”

    “Not as well as before.”

    “Oh?”

“I used to be able to anticipate your thoughts even when we were miles apart.”

“Like when we teamed up to annoy that clueless Minister of Rites?”

Remembering that incident, Chi Lin laughed, nestled in Lou Mi’s arms.

Having not slept well after last night’s activities, and with the mask becoming uncomfortable, they showered and went to bed, Lou Mi resting her head on Chi Lin’s stomach, chatting about their past and present lives, until they drifted off to sleep.

The next day, Chi Lin wore the mask and a loose hoodie to school.

She was nervous as she scanned her face at the entrance, no one else around.

Her face appeared on the screen, “Scanning, please wait…” The message lingered, making her anxious.

A green checkmark and her name appeared: access granted!

    Technology was amazing…

    Relieved, she went to class.

The large lecture hall, which she hadn’t paid much attention to before, now seemed like a lifesaver.

Chi Lin entered, head down, and sat in the back corner, hoping to be unnoticed.

Her back ached, and she felt uneasy.

Married life was too comfortable, she had even become lax with her morning exercises, let alone other training. Her stamina was declining.

    This couldn’t continue.

Seeing Her Majesty’s enthusiasm, her clear preference for Chi Lin’s true form…

Chi Lin gripped her stylus, her face flushing at the memory of their intimacy.

Having missed the astral convergence, she wouldn’t be able to switch back for three months.

Lou Mi had insisted on driving her to school this morning, her reluctance to leave evident.

Which meant Lou Mi would likely be expecting similar… activities for the next three months…

She had to regain her stamina, she couldn’t disappoint Her Majesty.

As Chi Lin was planning her morning exercise routine, during break time, while gathering her things, she overheard a few classmates whispering, not realizing she was Chi Lin:

“No way… you must be mistaken.”

“I would recognize HighTowerMiyuki anywhere! I’ve been a fan for six years!”

    Chi Lin froze.

Had they seen Lou Mi this morning?

    The whispers continued:

“But the person in the car wasn’t Chi Lin.”

    “Huh?”

“It was a much older woman.”

Chi Lin, who had been eavesdropping: “…”

She had been in the car, without the mask, and Lou Mi had only opened the window briefly in the parking lot, and they had been spotted?

And what did they mean, “a much older woman”? Chi Lin was slightly offended, she wasn’t that much older!

Chi Lin dismissed it as a minor incident and didn’t tell Lou Mi.

She wore the mask throughout the final exams, planning to switch back during summer break.

When the new semester started, the first thing Chi Lin heard was the gossip about HighTowerMiyuki’s new girlfriend.

They had been careful during the past three months, but they couldn’t wear the mask everywhere, especially during summer.

And they weren’t celebrities, their awareness of paparazzi not as sharp. They had been photographed in the parking lot, Lou Mi affectionately putting a mask on Chi Lin’s face, completely oblivious to the lurking camera.

[#HighTowerMiyukiCheating] was trending, the photos undeniable.

Although only half of the “new lover’s” face was visible, it clearly wasn’t Chi Lin.

Fans were outraged, flooding Lou Mi’s Weibo with angry comments and heartbroken cries.

[Sister Lou, how could you do this… Little Lin did so much for you, she loves you so much…]

[Please clarify, tell us you’re not with that old woman, that you only love Little Lin!]

[I’ve cried all my tears, tell me this isn’t true!]

[HighTowerMiyuki, don’t you have anything to say?!]

[HighTowerMiyuki, come out and face the music!]

    ***

Lou Mi, seeing the explosion of comments, felt like she had actually cheated on Chi Lin and wanted to slap herself.

Zhuo Jinglan called immediately: “What’s going on?! What happened between you and Little Sister?!”

    Just then, Chi Lin returned.

Lou Mi, sitting on the sofa, glanced at her: “We’re perfectly fine.”

“Perfectly fine? You’re trending! The entire internet is bashing you, when will you learn to be more careful?!”

Lou Mi sighed. She wanted to tell everyone that her wife could change her appearance, but who would believe her?

“Calm down, Sister Lan, Little Lin is back, we’ll figure something out.”

Zhuo Jinglan sensed that she wasn’t being dismissive, and that these two were probably up to something.

“Fine, I won’t nag. Just protect your reputation, okay? I’ll hang up now.”

As soon as Zhuo Jinglan hung up, Lou Mi threw herself into Chi Lin’s arms, whining about the misunderstanding, blaming herself for being careless.

Chi Lin stroked her head: “It’s okay, Your Majesty, everyone makes mistakes, don’t worry.”

Lou Mi looked up, seeing Chi Lin’s confident smile:

    “I have a plan.”

Lou Mi’s eyes lit up: “Really? A plan?”

    Chi Lin nodded.

Lou Mi had no doubt about Chi Lin’s intelligence. She had made some mistakes when she first arrived, but she was a quick learner.

And Chi Lin was a prodigy!

Now it was Lou Mi’s turn to cling to Chi Lin’s sleeve: “You can really fix this?”

    “Yes.”

    “Will people believe it?”

    “They will.”

Chi Lin gave her a hint, and Lou Mi immediately understood!

    She quickly started preparing.

It felt exciting, like a secret mission, a collaboration across time.

A playful prank, a shared secret.

Ready, Lou Mi told Zhuo Jinglan she was going to live stream.

    Live stream?

[HighTowerMiyuki dares to show her face?]

    [Is she apologizing?]

[I want to see what she has to say.]

[If it’s not a sincere apology, I won’t accept it!]

    ***

Even before the stream started, there were almost five million viewers online.

Zhuo Jinglan: “You’re still popular, I guess. But what are you going to say? Don’t be impulsive!”

    Lou Mi shocked everyone.

    She wasn’t alone.

The “new lover” was sitting beside her.

Their faces appeared on screen, and the chat exploded with question marks.

    [Is HighTowerMiyuki crazy?!!]

[What the fuck?! Am I seeing things?!]

[Is she announcing her new relationship?!]

Amidst the angry comments, Lou Mi sighed and looked down:

“I know I was wrong, I should have told you sooner.”

The comments intensified, almost crashing the platform.

“But it’s not too late, it’s a brand new product, after all.”

[Brand new product? Is she losing it?]

The “new lover” suddenly started peeling off her face, revealing Chi Lin’s familiar features.

[Stop! What kind of horror movie is this?!]

    [Holy shit, that’s terrifying!]

    [I’m going blind!]

Amidst the horrified cries, Chi Lin smiled awkwardly at the camera: “Surprise! It’s me.”

    [??]

    [???]

Lou Mi and Chi Lin held up the peeled-off mask:

“N-Count’s latest bionic fun mask, breathable and realistic! Have your dream date with your idol!”

    [?????]

    [??????????]

“Visit our website, buy one, get one free, custom design available!”

Lou Mi felt like an idiot, her smile stiff.

But what choice did she have? It was her fault for being careless. As long as people believed it, she would endure the embarrassment…

Peng Ziyuan, watching the live stream, almost choked on her noodles.

Lou Lixing looked at her calmly: “Yuan Yuan, when did your company start offering this service?”

Peng Ziyuan, her face red, couldn’t answer.

She wanted to yell, N-Count is a respectable company! We don’t do that!

Chi Lin’s plan worked. Lou Mi’s reputation was salvaged, and they were back to being the adorable couple everyone loved.

But it also sparked another wave of controversy.

    ***

Bonus Scene: Lou Mi x Chi Lin (Little Theater)

Two days later, the customer service representatives at YHK, N-Count’s home AI division, were overwhelmed.

What “bionic fun mask”? They didn’t have such a product!

It was all HighTowerMiyuki and Lin’s fault, that ridiculous live stream promotion!

But the inquiries were pouring in, and since N-Count specialized in dating sims, the mask wasn’t entirely inconsistent with their brand.

    They couldn’t miss this opportunity.

So, YHK presented the idea to headquarters.

When the proposal reached Shi Yue, she declared righteously:

“Absolutely not. We will not create such a vulgar product.”

Xu Youyuan, passing by, chuckled: “Wasn’t the original X system, Little You, modeled after my face? You didn’t find it vulgar then.”

Shi Yue, following her: “That’s different.”

    “How is it different?”

    “You’re my wife!”

    “Not back then.”

“Yes, yes, you weren’t my girlfriend yet.”

“What’s with that tone? You weren’t even honest with me back then!”

    ***

As they bickered and flirted, Little Twelve peeked in from around the corner, entered the lab, and opened the 3D printer, uploading a picture of Chi Lin’s face.

The model was quickly generated. She hesitated before pressing “Print.”

    “What are you doing?”

Little Seven’s sudden appearance startled Twelve, who almost slammed her head into the printer.

    The printing started.

“What are you doing?! You scared me to death!” Twelve scolded her, turning around to see the mask almost finished.

    “This printer is fast…”

    Twelve took the still-warm mask.

Little Seven, seeing it, understood: “Oh, still not over your first crush?”

“I’m not! It was your fault, you startled me!”

“Then I’ll throw it away.” Seven reached for the mask.

    Twelve quickly hid it.

“What? Can’t bear to part with it?” Seven smirked.

Twelve sighed: “Fine, throw it away.”

    “Why?”

“What’s the point? I can’t wear it myself. It’s stupid.”

Twelve sighed sadly. Seven, seeing her heartbroken expression, her eyes reddening, felt a pang of sympathy.

    She took the mask.

    Twelve: “What are you doing?”

Seven put the mask on her own face.

    “You…”

Although the mask was a bit small, not fitting perfectly, it did look like Chi Lin.

    Twelve blushed slightly.

“Better now?” Seven, trying not to laugh, afraid the mask would fall off, took Twelve’s hand:

“Here’s your chance, give Lin Jie your first kiss.”

    She leaned closer.

Twelve’s heart raced as she saw Chi Lin’s face approaching.

Just as their lips were about to meet, Twelve pushed her away.

    Seven: “Huh?”

“You’re bullying me again! I hate you!”

Twelve ran away, covering her face. Seven, removing the mask, followed:

“I wasn’t bullying you, I was helping you!” She giggled.

Her little sister’s anger was so cute.

The twins ran downstairs, and their mothers, witnessing the scene from the other end of the hallway, froze.

Xu Youyuan: “What… did I just see? Shi Yue, tell me, am I dreaming, or are we in ‘Secret Chamber’?”

Shi Yue: “I think we need to have a long family meeting…”

  • Back to Three Years Old: Crushing Scumbags on a Parenting Reality Show 126

    Chapter 126

“Sorry, baby, let’s just make do with this for now. For dinner, for dinner, I’ll definitely try harder!” Wei Chengli said, feeling guilty, he picked up the only plate on the table and pushed the meager amount of shredded cucumber, barely covering the bottom of the plate, into the little chubby dumpling’s bowl of Liangpi.

“Let’s share.” Wei Maomao said, picking up her chopsticks and transferring half of the shredded cucumber back into Wei Chengli’s bowl.

The already small amount of cucumber, after being divided between them, barely covered the Liangpi in their bowls, truly a reflection of their last-place ranking.

“It’s because I was too scared… That car…” Wei Chengli said, his guilt and remorse prompting him to explain as he tried to push the shredded cucumber back into the little chubby dumpling’s bowl.

Wei Maomao covered her bowl with her chubby paw, stopping Wei Chengli’s eight hundredth self-criticism. “You said, ‘Safety first.’ People’s safety is the most important, and shredded cucumber is also delicious.”

Wei Chengli clutched his chest, sob, sob, sob, his baby was the best baby in the world!

After dealing with her old father, Wei Maomao didn’t have time for more comforting, she tilted her head slightly, her ears perked up, her attention focused on the Cheng family’s table, one table away.

Earlier, when they came downstairs, the large round table in the hall had been replaced with six small square tables, individual meals had returned, and the dads were already seated at their respective tables.

Wei Maomao, who had gotten used to eating and living with Cheng Tingyan these past few days, naturally pulled her to Wei Chengli’s table.

But… the last-place side dish was just a plate of shredded cucumber, barely covering the bottom, not even enough for three or four bites.

And at the Cheng family’s table, one table away, there were meat and vegetable dishes, several plates piled high, a feast befitting their second-place ranking.

Wei Maomao was too embarrassed to keep Cheng Tingyan there, and Cheng Tingyan also said she would go and eat at the Cheng family’s table, so her chubby paw… naturally loosened its grip. Actually, Wei Maomao could roughly guess Cheng Tingyan’s unspoken words, she didn’t want to share their meager portion of shredded cucumber…

But it was just a meal, it wouldn’t take more than a few minutes to finish, and they were just one table away, nothing unexpected should happen.

This was what Wei Maomao thought, but most of her attention was still involuntarily on Cheng Tingyan.

At the Cheng family’s table, Cheng Feiying looked at the plates of shredded chicken, pork tenderloin, scrambled eggs, fried dough twists, shredded carrots, shredded cucumbers, braised gluten, peanuts, and felt very smug.

Wanting to give up when he lost, being arrogant when he won, this was Cheng Feiying.

At this moment, Cheng Feiying no longer had that “whatever, just get through these few days” attitude. He felt capable again!

Hmph, what baby, what parent, a real parent, a breadwinner, it still depended on him.

Getting second place in the go-karting competition this morning, the dads’ praise reignited his passion, the excitement hadn’t faded yet, his mind was still buzzing.

Seeing Cheng Tingyan first go to the Wei family’s table, then dejectedly return to theirs, Cheng Feiying, after holding back for a moment, couldn’t help but scoff. “What, realizing that the food at home is better?”

Cheng Tingyan looked down at the Liangpi in her bowl and didn’t answer.

Cheng Feiying, dissatisfied with her silence, tapped his knuckles on the bowl and said with a hint of mockery, “Aren’t you always eating over there? Why did you come back when they only have cucumber today? It seems you don’t like it there that much after all. But at least you know to come back when there’s meat to eat, you’re not that stupid after all, eat.”

“I’m just eating Liangpi, not the toppings.” Cheng Tingyan said in a low voice, without looking up. She didn’t even bother mixing the sauce, she just picked up the white Liangpi with her chopsticks and put it into her mouth.

“You…” Cheng Feiying was about to say, “Are you being ungrateful?” when he was interrupted by a soft, childish voice, filled with anger.

“Yan Yan! Let’s go!” Wei Maomao shouted, rushing over like a cannonball, she wished she had longer arms and legs. She had started getting off the stool as soon as she heard the disapproval in Cheng Feiying’s tone, but even with just these few steps, he still managed to say those hurtful words.

She should have! Just shouted from the stool! Anyway, she didn’t need a good image!

Cheng Tingyan turned to look at the little chubby bunny, her warm, soft paw grabbing her waist… The entire bunny looked puffed up, as if she was about to explode.

The inexplicable sadness and grievance in her heart instantly vanished.

Cheng Tingyan wasn’t here for the good food, she only came back because she felt bad about sharing that small plate of cucumber at the Wei family’s table. Now that it had come to this, she naturally wouldn’t refuse the little chubby bunny’s request, she got up, following the force of the chubby paw.

“This is what the program team gave us, one bowl per person, unlimited.” Cheng Tingyan said, taking her bowl of Liangpi, which she had already taken a bite of, she looked at Cheng Feiying seriously and explained.

Cheng Feiying, who had been in a good mood, was now angry again, thanks to these two.

“Go, go, go, go eat your cucumber. You don’t even know how to appreciate meat…” Cheng Feiying said impatiently, waving them away. But looking at the little menace, staring at him with wide eyes, he instinctively swallowed the rest of his words.

What, he was just casually talking to his daughter, was this little menace going to bite him!

Cheng Feiying felt indignant, but he still didn’t provoke her further.

Some people, taking a step back, found peace and tranquility.

    Dream on!

“Like owner, like food, the meat here will make you stupid, I won’t let Yan Yan eat it!” Wei Maomao, fuming, first pushed Cheng Tingyan back to their table, then turned around and threw those words at Cheng Feiying, before returning to her seat, still fuming.

“You!” Cheng Feiying, caught off guard, was scolded by a three-year-old little menace.

What was going on! She was just being sarcastic before, and now she was directly insulting him?

“Brother Cheng, Yan Yan went out to sell vegetables, then did piecework, even picked so many sealing rings, to buy you good food, to get you a better lunch and noodles with so many meat toppings, she never said anything like ‘You’re not that stupid after all, eat,’ those condescending words.” Wei Chengli said, standing up before Cheng Feiying could explode, he scooped up the little chubby dumpling, who had just returned to their table and wasn’t far enough from Cheng Feiying, with his long arms. “Yan Yan didn’t go back to your table because she disliked us, nor because we only had shredded cucumber on our table. She… was afraid we wouldn’t have enough to eat, so she didn’t want to stay and share our cucumber. Right, Yan Yan?”

As he spoke, Wei Chengli looked down at the little girl, who was standing by the table, her head lowered.

Cheng Tingyan looked up, her eyes slightly red.

There was no need to nod, no need to answer, everything was in her eyes.

“Director Wei, what do you mean?” Cheng Feiying also stood up. “Maomao is only three years old, I won’t argue with her. That phrase ‘like owner, like food,’ did you teach her that too…”

Just as Cheng Feiying’s outburst began, a soft whisper came from the table in between them. But… the content was far more impactful than the volume.

“If your heart is filled with Buddha, everything you see is Buddha. If your heart is filled with shit… Mmm… Mmm…” Wen Jiangyue, who was thinking of a story, mumbled, her mouth suddenly covered.

Wen Qiming, his hand firmly covering his daughter’s mouth, looked at the left, then at the right, trying to smile without looking too awkward. “Well… Let’s eat quickly? These Liangpi were freshly made by the program team in the kitchen, they can’t be left out for too long in the summer, it can cause… rice yeast bacteria poisoning, with a mortality rate of over 40%, very dangerous. For our safety, let’s eat quickly… Don’t let down the program team’s efforts in making them fresh for us.”

    Cheng Feiying: “… “

These families, one after another, were they all crazy!

But Wen family’s interruption made it difficult for Cheng Feiying to continue his outburst.

After all, the unfinished sentence from Wen Jiangyue was probably “If your heart is filled with shit, everything you see is shit,” right? What should he do, scold one family, then scold another? Ahhh! He was even angrier!

Seizing this opportunity, Zeng Huanian quickly ushered the staff members who were serving the sauce, asking about their preferences, teaching them how to mix it, helping them stir… A group of staff squeezed in between the tables, busily creating a lively atmosphere, finally covering up the earlier tension.

“Yan Yan, here you go.” Wei Maomao said, sitting down with puffed cheeks, she immediately transferred all the shredded cucumber in her bowl to Cheng Tingyan.

“No, I’ll just eat Liangpi.” Cheng Tingyan said, grabbing the little chubby paw covering her bowl, she transferred the cucumber back.

“Eat a little.” Wei Maomao said, but quickly transferred the cucumber back again.

Wei Chengli, watching the two little ones go back and forth with those two chopsticks of shredded cucumber, felt… regret.

Sob, sob, sob, he should have tried harder this morning!

If they were second to last, they could have had an extra plate of shredded carrots and an extra plate of scrambled eggs!

    He was so useless!

Wei Chengli, teary-eyed, stopped the two little ones’ endless exchange of kindness, he swiftly dumped the shredded cucumber from his bowl into theirs, and even said to Cheng Tingyan, “It’s clean, I haven’t touched it.”

“I don’t…” Cheng Tingyan instinctively tried to transfer it back to Wei Chengli.

A soft voice suddenly came from beside them.

“Well, these are also clean.” Wen Jiangyue said, after watching for a while, she finally found a chance to join this intense situation, she quickly added a spoonful of shredded carrots and scrambled eggs to each of their bowls, then quickly ran back to her table.

This was her first time experiencing such a thrilling food delivery, Wen Jiangyue thought, patting her chest, recalling the scene at the next table, where chopsticks were flying.

    Right, speaking of which…

“Dad, you haven’t answered me yet, why did you cover my mouth earlier…” Wen Jiangyue said, dissatisfied.

“Why…” Wen Qiming said with a wry smile. “Don’t you think talking about… shit… at the dinner table is a bit… unappetizing?” Cheng Feiying was already so angry, if she said that about him, he might jump over and hit them, what would he do, an old man, if he couldn’t fight back? Forget about himself, he wouldn’t be able to protect his daughter, even if he wasn’t hit, he would be angered to death.

“It does seem a bit.” Wen Jiangyue said, after thinking for a moment, she agreed, then looked at Wen Qiming, confused. “But we’re about to eat Liangpi, and you’re talking about how eating Liangpi might cause poisoning, with a mortality rate of over 40%, it seems just as unappetizing as talking about shit…”

Wen Qiming: “… “ Hehehe! Who was he trying so hard to change the subject for! It seemed he would be angered to death not by Cheng Feiying’s attack, but by his own daughter!

Wen Jiangyue’s earlier mumbling was quite soft, except for the Cheng and Wei families’ tables next to them, the other families didn’t hear it clearly. But they did hear Cheng Feiying’s yelling and the things Wei Chengli said after standing up.

The battle had just begun, and it was extinguished by Wen Qiming and the program team’s intervention, the other families didn’t have a chance to say anything.

    But…

The friendly food sharing started with Wen Jiangyue, then Wen Dongyu, Shen Zilin… Even Wang Zhizhi joined in, albeit a bit late.

No words were spoken, but their actions showed their stance.

The most interesting thing was, the Wei family was at the table on the far right, the children from the other families, when bringing their food over, had to pass by the Cheng family’s table.

They didn’t say anything, they didn’t even glance at Cheng Feiying, they just used their silent actions to anger him again and again.

Cheng Feiying, looking at the food on his table, no longer felt the smugness he had when he first sat down.

What was the point, what was the point of winning!

Did these people have any competitive spirit! Sharing their food! What was the difference between winning and losing like this! He had specifically practiced go-karting for half a month, wasn’t it all in vain! What happened to the promised highlight moment!

When a person was inherently incompetent, even if they knew the task in advance, practiced specifically, and got a good ranking, they couldn’t achieve good results, there was nothing they could do about it.

Cheng Feiying’s displeasure was evident on his face. Cheng Rongrong, after glancing at him a few times, just quietly ate her Liangpi. She knew she should follow the trend and add food to the Wei family’s table. But… Hehe, Cheng Feiying would probably explode if she even suggested it.

Cheng Rongrong couldn’t completely abandon Cheng Feiying yet and just focus on her perfect image, she could only hold back.

Taking a tasteless bite of shredded chicken, Cheng Rongrong couldn’t understand… Did they truly like Wei Maomao and Cheng Tingyan that much?

Shen Zilin even specifically looked at the food on the other tables before bringing sausage and crab sticks over.

Those were dishes only the first-place team had! Now Cheng Tingyan and the others were eating even more luxuriously than them!

    So annoying!

Annoying? … Not annoying at all!

Wei Chengli’s heart was melting from the cuteness of these little babies.

“Thanks to you guys, my bowl is overflowing.” Wei Chengli said, looking at the two little ones at his table, feeling touched. He felt a bit embarrassed, but every baby who came over insisted on sharing their food with him, sob, sob, sob, they were truly good children.

“Dad, you said you were good, you should eat.” Wei Maomao said, remembering Wei Chengli’s earlier defense of them, she picked up a piece of sausage and put it in his bowl. “Eat well, say more good things next time.”

Wei Chengli: “… “ He was just caught up in the moment earlier, he couldn’t be so impolite every time, it wasn’t like he was looking for a fight.

“Thank you, Uncle Wei.” Cheng Tingyan also added a chopstickful of shredded chicken to Wei Chengli’s bowl.

Wei Chengli: “… You’re welcome.” Ah, this bowl, this bowl suddenly felt so heavy. He couldn’t hold it, he couldn’t hold it anymore…

    But…

“Yan Yan, last time, mmm… that first day in the village, when the dads cooked dinner, and you guys had to guess who made which dish, you seemed to have said that… over there, there should be a portion made by you. Why today… Actually, you could have stayed at that table and eaten freely, you’re not an adult yet, your dad has the responsibility to feed you.” Wei Chengli said, then, feeling a bit angry, he emphasized, “It’s his responsibility!”

Cheng Tingyan lowered her head, mixing the Liangpi in her bowl.

As the little girl lowered her head, Wei Chengli felt guilty again. “Ahhh, I was just saying, I meant you should be more assertive. Of course, you’re happier eating with us, you should be with us… It’s just…”

Wei Chengli didn’t even know what he was saying anymore.

Ah, coaxing children was truly difficult.

“I know.” Cheng Tingyan said softly, looking up at Wei Chengli. “But… it’s not… almost gone…”

“What’s almost gone… Oh.” Wei Chengli said, after a moment, he understood Cheng Tingyan’s meaning.

Was she thinking that the custody was about to be changed, Cheng Feiying would soon no longer have the responsibility to raise her, so she couldn’t eat freely anymore?

    They were serious.

Wei Chengli was once again convinced of this.

“Eat, eat more.” Wei Chengli said, not continuing this topic, which was inappropriate for now, he secretly glanced at the little chubby dumpling next to him, who was diligently eating her Liangpi.

This little rascal, she had stirred things up, it wouldn’t be easy to stop now.

But… he had to find a way to keep it on track.

    What should he do…

He really had to find a chance to talk to the little rascal again… Speaking of which, although this villa was nice, having the babies and dads live separately made it much more difficult to have private conversations…

    Wei Chengli felt troubled.

Some people were troubled because of their children.

And some people, because of their children…

“Eat your toppings.” Wang Qingchuan said, looking at Wang Zhizhi disapprovingly. “Seriously? Wake up, you’re not the parent anymore, why are you still being so fair with the distribution? And I agreed to let them share the food earlier, it’s our food now, why aren’t you eating the toppings?”

“I said it, I was sharing my food.” Wang Zhizhi said, munching on his Liangpi. He already had his own scale, what was his was his, if he didn’t get it, it meant he was being shortchanged, if they took it away, it meant they were stealing from him, if they gave him more, he would return it… During the two days when he was playing the role of his ideal parent, Wang Zhizhi had already found the most comfortable approach.

“What yours, what mine, don’t learn the bad things, learn from Wen Dongyu.” Wang Qingchuan said angrily. “Are you still immersed in the parent role? That Jiang Heye has already left, it’s just the two of us now, stop with the absolute fairness thing, eat if there’s food.”

“Beibei hasn’t left.” Wang Zhizhi said, he had just seen her this morning.

Wang Qingchuan: “… “ She was haunting him!

  • Shion’s Notes 120-121

Chapter 120: Stepping on Ningning’s Landmine

Refusing to revise her work meant rejecting a promising opportunity, and Yu Linna began to lose heart. After the Chenghe incident, she understood how the upper echelons operated, the consequences of being too headstrong. In this world, without power and obedience, one was ruthlessly discarded.

Still, she didn’t want her week of hard work to be in vain. She had no choice but to wait for the results, hoping they might still give her a chance. But it was wishful thinking.

Following Fang Jiangning’s advice, she took her medicine regularly. Fang Jiangning visited her every day, keeping her company. Gradually, she recovered, her loneliness easing. But Ye Zhiyun still hadn’t returned. It had been half a month since she left, and the New Year was fast approaching.

“Linna, how are you planning to spend the New Year?” Fang Jiangning asked casually.

Yu Linna hadn’t given it much thought. She had always been alone. While others celebrated, she worked on New Year’s Eve, earning several times her usual wage.

    But what about this year?

“I don’t know. Haven’t thought about it. What about you, Jiangning?”

“My family goes back to our hometown for the New Year. I did well on my exams this semester, so everyone’s happy. I have to tell my grandparents. My dad even said my grades are better than my cousin’s now.”

Pride beamed on Fang Jiangning’s face.

Since becoming Yu Linna’s deskmate, her grades had significantly improved. Yu Linna often tutored her, and despite frequently missing classes, she had a knack for teaching. Perhaps it was due to her experience as a teaching assistant; she had a unique approach to learning.

Their teacher hadn’t expected the seating arrangement, assigned randomly at the beginning of the semester, to have such an impact. But since being paired with Yu Linna, Fang Jiangning’s grades had soared. She had made it into the top ten of their grade for the first time, leaving her parents speechless.

Their homeroom teacher, initially critical of Yu Linna, now had nothing but praise.

“That’s great…” Yu Linna said, a hint of envy in her voice.

Fang Jiangning suddenly remembered that Yu Linna had no family, spending every New Year alone, with no relatives to visit.

    “I’m sorry, Linna. I got carried away…”

“It’s okay. I’m used to it. You don’t have to worry about my feelings.”

“But… what are you going to do this year?”

Though Yu Linna looked mixed-race, she was Chinese at heart and, like everyone else, celebrated the holidays. How would she spend the upcoming Spring Festival? It was a problem.

“I don’t know. I’ll wait for Zhiyun to come back.”

Though she said so, Yu Linna had a feeling Ye Zhiyun wouldn’t be back in time.

Being gone for half a month meant it was something serious. She wouldn’t be back anytime soon.

Feeling awkward, Fang Jiangning suggested they go out to have some fun, to lift Yu Linna’s spirits. Yu Linna agreed, needing a distraction. Unlike before, she no longer had to work every day and had plenty of free time.

“Oh, let’s ask Ningning to join us! She’s been wanting to get closer to you. Is that okay?”

    “Her? …Fine, I don’t mind.”

When it came to Huo Ningning, Yu Linna felt nothing but exasperation. The girl was always trying to get close to her, and she didn’t understand why. She was a girl! What was Ningning’s interest in her?

Upon hearing Yu Linna was going out, Huo Ningning became ecstatic, arriving at the meeting place in under five minutes, her face flushed, her breathing ragged. She had clearly run all the way.

“Good morning, Linna! Where do you want to go? I recommend a movie!”

“…No movies. I want to go to the arcade.”

The thought of sitting next to Ningning in a dark theater, being stared at, made her skin crawl.

Having lived as a girl for over a decade, Yu Linna wasn’t averse to interacting with other girls, but she wasn’t comfortable with excessive closeness. So far, only Ye Zhiyun and Nangong Ying had been allowed into her inner circle.

She had a reason for wanting to go to the arcade. She had gone there once with Ye Zhiyun, who had won her a stuffed animal, a prize she still cherished. She wanted to try again, to play the claw machine.

As for Huo Ningning, she agreed solely because Yu Linna was going. Wherever Yu Linna went, she would follow.

Who was Huo Ningning, anyway? According to Fang Jiangning, she came from a relatively well-off family, better off than Fang Jiangning’s, though the nature of her family’s business remained unknown. Apparently, they had only become wealthy in recent years.

“Linna, let’s do something active! Look, there’s a coin-operated basketball game over there. Let’s play!”

    “Well…”

    “It’s decided! Let’s go!”

“Can you not hold my hand…?”

Wasn’t this bespectacled girl supposed to be shy and timid? Why was she suddenly so assertive? Did she really enjoy Yu Linna’s company that much?

And Fang Jiangning, with a cheerful expression, didn’t seem to mind, as if everything was going according to plan.

“I’m not very good at basketball…”

Inserting the coins, Yu Linna held the basketball, looking at the hoop, feeling a headache coming on.

Even in her previous life as a boy, she hadn’t played many outdoor sports, mostly spending her time quietly reading at the orphanage. In this life, she had been too busy working to engage in any physical activity, let alone play basketball. If she had the time, she would have taken up taekwondo like Ye Zhiyun.

“It’s okay, I’ll teach you. Just throw the ball into the basket. Watch me. Like this.”

    Huo Ningning demonstrated.

“Linna, lift your arms like this, and your waist…”

“Ahem, don’t touch me. I can do it myself.”

Seeing Huo Ningning’s hand reaching for her waist, Yu Linna immediately stepped back, a frown on her face. This girl was clearly up to no good, trying to get touchy-feely again.

Huo Ningning pouted, looking like she was about to cry. Fang Jiangning patted her shoulder, sighing.

    “Too eager. She’ll get spooked.”

“It’s so hard, Jiangning. How can I be like you…?”

    “Well, take it slow.”

Ignoring their conversation, Yu Linna held the basketball, looking at the hoop. She jumped slightly and threw the ball.

With no experience and awkward form, her shot missed. She picked up the ball and tried again, rarely making a basket.

As she moved, her shirt lifted slightly, revealing a flash of her pale stomach. Huo Ningning stared, mesmerized.

Her movements were so graceful, especially that glimpse of skin…

“Ningning, stop ogling her, or she’ll really start to dislike you.”

    “Whoa… I can’t control myself…”

Huo Ningning, the seemingly timid, introverted girl with glasses, had a wild side. Was this what they called “hidden fire”?

Having known her for so long, Fang Jiangning understood her personality all too well.

Yu Linna was indeed terrible at basketball. After a few shots, she was out of breath, sweat beading on her forehead, her body weak. This sport wasn’t for her.

Perhaps it was also due to her lack of exercise these past two months, spending all her time cooking. If she were still working multiple jobs, running errands all day, she wouldn’t be so out of shape.

As for Huo Ningning, she hadn’t made a single basket, too busy staring at Yu Linna. She was probably devastated.

Yu Linna headed towards the claw machines, wanting to try her luck. Huo Ningning grabbed her hand, pulling her towards the women’s clothing section, ignoring Yu Linna’s protests.

“Linna, let’s buy some clothes! Don’t worry, it’s on me.”

“Are you crazy? I don’t buy women’s clothing! Let go of me!”

“Just try it on! Just once, okay?”

    “No!”

Huo Ningning was unusually assertive, almost aggressive.

This was all thanks to a book she had read this week. It advised that to win a girl’s heart, one had to be bold, shameless, and take charge, ignoring the girl’s objections. This would supposedly showcase one’s masculine charm.

The book was titled, “How to Pursue a Girl.”

    Clearly, she had misunderstood something…

It was meant for boys, not girls.

“No! I don’t want to wear this!”

“Just once! Come on, just try it on!”

    “No!”

Fang Jiangning watched, speechless. Had Huo Ningning completely lost it? Even with a girl, this wasn’t the way to go about things.

Huo Ningning held a dress, insisting Yu Linna try it on. Yu Linna adamantly refused, and they reached a stalemate. Suddenly, Huo Ningning slipped, falling towards Yu Linna. With a yelp from Yu Linna, they both tumbled into the changing room.

    “Ahh!”

Fang Jiangning saw the curtain close behind them, followed by muffled gasps.

Huo Ningning pinned Yu Linna to the floor, her face flushing as she looked at the girl beneath her.

Yu Linna pushed her off angrily, scrambling to her feet, pulling up her jacket, her face red with rage.

“Enough! What are you trying to do? How could you treat me like this? Hmph! I’m leaving!”

Shoving Huo Ningning aside, Yu Linna stormed out of the women’s clothing section, clearly furious.

“That’s it, game over…” Fang Jiangning thought. Not even a god could save Ningning now.

    Chapter 121: The Seed

Yu Linna disliked Huo Ningning not for anything she had done, but simply because she couldn’t stand being stared at with such an intense, almost predatory gaze. It made her uncomfortable.

If Ningning behaved normally, Yu Linna wouldn’t mind being friendly. After all, she was Jiangning’s friend, and Yu Linna was willing to give her some leeway.

    But today…

    She had had enough.

Being treated like this for no reason, unilaterally at that, was unbearable. Even if she was Jiangning’s friend, it was too much.

Yu Linna hated being treated this way.

“I’m… I’m so sorry, Linna! Please don’t be angry! I was wrong!”

“I’m going home. Leave me alone.”

“No, please! I really was wrong! Please forgive me!”

Huo Ningning wanted to punch herself. How could she have made such a grave mistake? She needed to be locked in a cage to learn her lesson.

As for Fang Jiangning, all she could do was facepalm. Her friend was usually normal; how could she mess up so badly today? What had she been doing? Ningning had only mentioned looking up strategies, reading books on how to interact with people. What kind of book had she been reading?

    “Linna, Linna… I’m sorry! Please don’t go! I was wrong…”

Huo Ningning abandoned her earlier assertiveness, her voice now soft and pleading, reverting to her usual timid self.

“I just wanted to be friends with you! I really didn’t mean to… Please forgive me…”

Huo Ningning tugged on Yu Linna’s sleeve, her voice trembling. Yu Linna, despite being a girl herself, couldn’t bear to see another girl cry, especially in front of her.

Whenever a girl cried in front of her, she couldn’t bring herself to refuse their request. It had been the same with Ye Zhiyun; after witnessing her vulnerability, Yu Linna couldn’t reject her.

“Fine. I’ll give you one more chance. But if you do that again, hmph!”

“I won’t! I won’t! I was just too eager! From now on, I’ll listen to you!”

As long as she could be with Yu Linna, she would do anything.

Seeing that Yu Linna was no longer angry, Huo Ningning breathed a sigh of relief. If she had truly angered her, it would have been disastrous.

    However…

Yu Linna had been genuinely angry.

    She had simply forgotten.

Looking at the blonde hair, the familiar silhouette, Huo Ningning’s mind flashed back to a similar image. The same blonde hair, the same back, but a different heart.

(“Mind your own business! It’s none of your concern! Who are you to tell me what to do?!”)

She would never forget that scene, the scene she regretted to this day.

If it hadn’t been for the past, there wouldn’t be a present.

She truly regretted her actions. They could have been better friends, but ultimately, it wasn’t meant to be.

Yu Linna might have forgotten, but Huo Ningning hadn’t. She knew who Yu Linna was, her background, her status as an orphan. She had known all along but had kept silent.

When Huo Ningning was young, a little girl had come to live with her family. Everything had started then; that was when the little blonde girl entered her life.

But the girl had only stayed for a month before disappearing.

Huo Ningning saw her again in high school.

The moment she saw her on campus, she knew it was Yu Linna, the mixed-race girl. She wanted to talk to her, to get to know her, to become friends. But she lacked the courage.

In their senior year, by chance, they ended up in the same class. And since Yu Linna was close to Fang Jiangning, Huo Ningning used that connection to get closer to her. However, their relationship hadn’t progressed much, remaining awkward, with Yu Linna always keeping her distance, partly due to Huo Ningning’s overeagerness.

“Linna, want to grab a drink? It’s on me. I’ll take you to the best place in town.”

“Stop having ulterior motives! I’m a girl, understand?”

    “I would never! I’m a girl too!”

She wanted to be with Yu Linna, to rekindle their friendship, even though Yu Linna had forgotten everything. But Huo Ningning remembered clearly.

She regretted the words she had spoken, words that had changed everything. Since then, she had vowed never to hurt anyone with her words again.

But the damage was done; there was no going back.

“Ningning, aren’t you taking me somewhere? Where is it?”

    “Wait, I’m coming.”

Fang Jiangning, watching them, breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed things were going smoothly.

When Huo Ningning had confessed about her past with Yu Linna, Fang Jiangning hadn’t believed her at first. But Ningning wasn’t one to lie, so she chose to believe her. Ningning had asked for help in mending her relationship with Yu Linna, and Fang Jiangning had agreed.

It wasn’t an easy task, but fortunately, there wasn’t any serious conflict between them yet.

In a quiet studio apartment, the only sounds were the clicking of keys and the flickering of the computer screen. The curtains were drawn, the room shrouded in darkness, illuminated only by the glow of the monitor.

The rhythmic tapping of keys echoed as Zhao Yuyan’s fingers flew across the keyboard, her eyes fixed on the screen. As the number of characters increased, her furrowed brows relaxed.

    “Phew…”

Zhao Yuyan paused, stretching. Working since early morning was tiring, and she was starting to feel hungry.

But it was her own fault for procrastinating, leaving everything to the last minute. It was a classic writer’s ailment.

And one that frustrated Chen Xi to no end. Of all the authors she managed, Zhao Yuyan was the worst procrastinator. Chen Xi often reminded her during their meals to start writing early to avoid last-minute cramming. Zhao Yuyan always agreed, then proceeded to procrastinate anyway.

There was no helping it. Zhao Yuyan was lazy. She wanted to play games, not work. She had university, assignments, and her author duties; how could she possibly have the energy for anything else? Writing meant sacrificing her gaming time; she was already working hard enough.

Despite her procrastination, Zhao Yuyan’s writing was consistently high-quality, always finding a market. She mostly wrote short stories, with her longer works progressing at a glacial pace. She was about to publish another collection of short stories, this time about a rag-and-bone girl who meets the male protagonist.

With her popularity and reputation, her short story collection would undoubtedly sell well. That was the value of her name.

“Wow, so much left. Looks like there’s no time for fun before the New Year.”

Looking at her progress, Zhao Yuyan sighed. Procrastination felt good in the moment, but the all-nighters were killer.

But she was a professional writer and had to take her work seriously. There was no other way but to work overtime.

Suddenly, her phone rang. It was Chen Xi, the demon editor!

“Hello, Sister Chen! I wasn’t slacking off! I was really working hard…”

“Huh? What are you talking about? I’m calling to let you know about this year’s New Talent Awards. It’s scheduled for after the New Year, and we’d like to invite you. Hopefully, you can make time for it.”

“Ah, the New Talent Awards? Me?”

She had attended the awards ceremony last year, winning first place at the age of nineteen, securing a publishing contract for “The Rich Man’s Game.” A year later, the novel had reached its third volume, with the fourth in progress.

The New Talent Awards was a place of aspiration for every newcomer, a platform to gain recognition and launch their careers. Having experienced that glory herself, Zhao Yuyan understood the significance of the competition.

“Air, as the winner of last year’s award, you should be there. If possible, we’d like you to give a short speech, a few words of encouragement for the new writers.”

“In that case, just send me an invitation. You didn’t have to call.”

“That’s because I know you probably wouldn’t come even with an invitation, so I had to call and order you to attend.”

    “What? It’s an order?!”

“That’s right, an order. You must be there.”

    “Can I refuse…?”

“If you don’t go, I’ll lock you in a hotel room and cut off your internet until you finish writing.”

    “You’re a demon!”

Zhao Yuyan cried out. The demon editor truly lived up to her name! How could she be so cruel?!

Zhao Yuyan didn’t want to go! Not at all!

She just wanted to stay home and play games, raid dungeons, play League of Legends, PUBG, and Dungeon Fighter Online!

“By the way, Air, speaking of the New Talent Awards, there’s an author I’m quite interested in. I want to sign them, but… their writing style is hard to define.”

“Another newcomer caught your eye? Lucky them.”

“Their pen name is Shion. I don’t know their real name. They blocked me. If you know them, please let me know.”

“Pfft! Blocked you? Hahaha! Sister Chen, you got blocked by a newbie? Hahaha!”

Zhao Yuyan burst out laughing. The legendary super editor Chen Xi, blocked by a newcomer? It was the funniest thing she had ever heard. That newbie had guts! Blocking an editor! It was too much; she couldn’t stop laughing.

    “Air…”

    “Okay, okay, I’ll stop laughing… hahaha…”

“Should I book you a hotel room?”

“No, no, no! I’m sorry! I don’t want to be locked up and forced to write!”

A single petal fell to the ground. Unseen, a seed began to sprout.

  • After Failing to Find Immortality 206

Chapter 206: Tranquility in the Lunar Valley

    “Bai Xin?”

    Mao Ruoyu was surprised.

Then, a warm smile appeared on her face. “Although she’s a bit different now, she’s still kind and caring at heart, just like ten years ago.”

“But did she say anything harsh to you, my husband?”

    “She was quite polite.”

Lin Tianlu chuckled. “She’s a reasonable person. She didn’t try to pick a fight with me.”

“Even if she disliked you, she wouldn’t dare to attack you within the valley.”

Mao Ruoyu covered her mouth with her hand, a nostalgic smile on her face as she recalled the past.

The memories of ten years ago were still vivid in her mind.

She had played and laughed with Bai Xin in this very courtyard, sharing stories and secrets.

    “Hiss…”

She suddenly gasped, her body swaying slightly.

Lin Tianlu quickly steadied her, his voice filled with concern. “Are you alright, Ruoyu? Are you feeling unwell?”

“Why would you ask such a… shameful question, my husband?”

Mao Ruoyu looked up at him, her beautiful lavender eyes sparkling with a mixture of shyness and desire, despite her usual cold and aloof demeanor.

She tugged at her robe, her lips bitten slightly, a blush creeping onto her cheeks. “It’s your fault, my husband… You were so… vigorous last night. I’m still sore.”

    Lin Tianlu was startled.

Then he chuckled and caressed her cheek. “Are you complaining, Ruoyu?”

Mao Ruoyu’s eyelashes fluttered, and her eyes sparkled with a playful light. She whispered, “Of course not… I enjoyed it, my husband. Being with you is all that matters.”

Seeing her seductive shyness, Lin Tianlu’s heart melted, and he gently supported her. “If you’re feeling unwell, then go back and rest. If you’re hungry, I’ll prepare some food for you.”

    “…Mm.”

Mao Ruoyu nodded softly, glancing at his handsome face, a happy smile appearing on her lips.

“But, Ruoyu, if you transform into that ‘dark form’ again, you need to be more careful.” Lin Tianlu said with a playful warning. “Remember to take some tonics.”

    “…”

Mao Ruoyu’s face flushed crimson, and she lowered her head, unable to speak, her heart filled with embarrassment.

She hadn’t realized she would be so… unrestrained last night!

She had said and done such shameful things, deliberately trying to seduce him… it was all her other self’s fault!

Three days later, the turmoil had subsided.

Peace returned to the Lunar Valley, the damage from the battle repaired, as if nothing had happened.

As night fell, a single private chamber remained brightly lit.

In the steamy hot spring, Mao Ruoyu trailed her fingers through the water, droplets clinging to her skin.

She sighed softly, her heart calm and peaceful as she felt the balanced flow of the Moon Shadow Breath within her.

After several days of focused cultivation, she had regained control of her emotions and returned to her usual self.

And she could even sense her cultivation improving, the abundant Yin energy within her body gradually integrating with her own power. Perhaps soon, she would be able to break through to the Crimson Demon Realm, or even the Savage Realm.

Such rapid progress would surely cause a stir if it were known.

At least her master had been quite “shocked” when she had found out.

    But…

“My hair is just like Miss Cheng’s now.”

Mao Ruoyu picked up a strand of her silver hair and chuckled softly.

She didn’t mind the change in her hair color.

After all, the mysterious woman within the jade pendant had helped her through so many difficult situations. And their connection felt warm and familiar. She was almost reluctant to separate…

Of course, she couldn’t really separate from her now.

After regaining the Moon Shadow Breath, her transformed state seemed to have become permanent.

So she had started trying to communicate with the mysterious woman within her, hoping to form a friendship.

But the woman seemed cold and distant, unresponsive to her attempts at communication, her presence a silent shadow within her mind.

    “It’s a pity…”

    “Ruoyu, there you are.”

    A soft chuckle startled her.

Mao Ruoyu turned to see the Ninth Elder approaching, a kind smile on her face, her body naked.

Her skin glowed with a youthful radiance in the steamy air, yet her figure was mature and alluring, her curves swaying gently with every step.

“Master? Why are you here tonight…?”

“Miss Yun Yue is visiting Fifth Elder’s Jade Luo Courtyard with Tianlu. I have some free time, so I thought I’d join you for a chat.”

The Ninth Elder gracefully entered the hot spring, gathering her long, black hair, and sat down beside Mao Ruoyu.

She sighed contentedly, enjoying the warmth of the water.

“You must be tired from dealing with all those matters in the valley, Master. Let me massage your shoulders.”

Mao Ruoyu smiled and moved closer. “And I heard you’re about to break through. You need to take care of yourself.”

    “Alright.”

The Ninth Elder’s smile widened, and she turned slightly, offering her back. “It’s been a while since you’ve given me a massage, Ruoyu. It must have been years.”

Mao Ruoyu’s heart ached, and she bit her lip as she began to massage her master’s shoulders. “Master, this hot spring wasn’t here when I left.”

“I was feeling lonely in this empty courtyard, so Second Elder built it for me.”

The Ninth Elder closed her eyes and sighed softly. “It’s relaxing to soak in the hot spring, but it can be quite lonely sometimes.”

Mao Ruoyu felt a pang of guilt.

How could she have been so heartless, abandoning her master and leaving the Lunar Valley?

    Splash!

    The door suddenly opened.

Hua Shuya stood there, her hands on her hips, a surprised look on her face.

    “Huh?”

Mao Ruoyu turned to her. “Shuya? Why are you wearing clothes in the hot spring…?”

“I came to see you, Madam, of course!”

‘Hua Shuya’ smiled brightly, her movements lively and seductive as she jumped into the hot spring, sending water splashing everywhere.

    “Eh?”

    Splash!

Water sprayed onto Mao Ruoyu and the Ninth Elder, their hair dripping wet.

    “…”

Mao Ruoyu blinked, her hair falling loose, her mind momentarily blank.

  • Devilish Disciple [Transmigration] 55

Chapter 55: Staying Here…Didn’t Seem So Bad

The snow on Mount Chao Yao fell relentlessly throughout the night, finally ceasing at dawn.

The unfinished demon-slaying formation shimmered on the mist-shrouded Cloud Platform.

The spiritual runes of the formation glowed with a golden, sun-like light.

In two days, at most, when the formation was complete, the little wolf demon with the Demon Bone, imprisoned in the Spirit Restraint Hall, would be destroyed.

    But last night, she escaped.

The person who helped her escape was her master, the guardian of the Upper Spirit Lamp’s seal—Li Yu, the Exalted Immortal.

Four thousand years ago, when the Heavenly Realm severed its connection with the human realm, she was the only god willing to stay and protect the world, the only one who could open the Heavenly Gate from the human realm.

For four thousand years, all the immortal sects in the human realm revered her; countless people considered meeting her an honor.

Yet, this Exalted Immortal, without telling anyone, took in a wolf demon with a Demon Bone as her disciple, raising her for over two hundred years!

If it weren’t for the theft of the Upper Spirit Lamp and the incident in Lingzhou, everyone would still be in the dark!

According to the disciples on the mountain, this Exalted Immortal was indifferent to everything except for her little disciple.

Just how much she favored her disciple was common knowledge.

“Cangming Revered One always preferred quiet. Without her permission, no disciple could enter or leave Chaoxi Pond. But that Mu Tao was different; she could come and go as she pleased…”

“We didn’t know what was so special about her. Such weak aptitude, yet she was accepted as Cangming Revered One’s direct disciple. And during the Cloud Platform Trial, it’s normal for disciples to get injured during sparring, but only she was rescued by Cangming Revered One herself…”

“Cangming Revered One hasn’t left the mountain in four thousand years, not even Chaoxi Pond. It’s incredibly rare for disciples to even see her!”

“Yet, she not only personally took Mu Tao to the human realm for training, but upon returning, she even established a rule! No one was allowed to gossip about Mu Tao or bully her, and if she found out anyone had wronged her, there would be severe consequences!”

For the guardian of the Upper Spirit Lamp to favor a girl with a Demon Bone was unsettling.

More importantly, since the demon’s imprisonment, the Exalted Immortal hadn’t made any public statements.

Making a statement didn’t guarantee trustworthiness, but not making one was definitely a problem.

The surge of resentment in the human realm, the breach of Mount Chao Yao’s mountain gate, the theft of the Upper Spirit Lamp, the awakening of the Demon Bone, these consecutive events made people suspect a conspiracy.

Although many claimed that Li Yu harboring the Demon Bone suggested ulterior motives, everyone knew that if she was truly evil, the Upper Spirit Lamp wouldn’t have remained sealed for four thousand years.

Their accusations were simply a way to pressure Mount Chao Yao into handing over and destroying the Demon Bone.

This way, they could prevent anyone from using it to harm the human realm.

As for Li Yu, having guarded the Upper Spirit Lamp for four thousand years, they believed that her protection of the Demon Bone stemmed from compassion, unwilling to see an innocent child bear such a burden.

And because of this belief, they were even more worried about her rescuing the demon.

Her disciple had been imprisoned for so long, yet she neither agreed to destroy the Demon Bone nor offered an explanation, her motives clear.

She was severely injured in the human realm, too weak to protect her disciple. Afraid of others realizing this and acting recklessly, she avoided them, trying to buy time.

So, the assembled immortals created a temporary no-fly zone.

This barrier was so vast that even Winged Clan members couldn’t easily escape.

—At least, not a severely injured immortal like her.

Qingxuan Revered One, Si Qinglan, didn’t object to destroying the Demon Bone.

She had cooperated, albeit reluctantly, with everything they asked of her.

The breach of the mountain gate had indeed weakened her significantly; her depleted spiritual energy was evident; she likely couldn’t, and didn’t have the strength to, help Li Yu.

Li Yu, although a god from the West Sea and not afraid of the ocean, was severely injured, burdened by Mu Tao, and pursued relentlessly; escaping beyond the barrier was almost impossible.

The immortals had considered every possibility, yet they never imagined that their plan would be foiled by an ordinarily rule-abiding junior.

No one would have guessed that a junior from Mount Chao Yao would have the audacity and the ability to freeze the sea, create a protective formation, and help Li Yu and the Demon Bone escape right before their eyes!

Although he hadn’t said anything, he must have been instructed by someone!

Everyone turned to look at the most likely culprit.

Within the Flower Soul Hall of Qianlizhu,

Facing the immortals’ fury and accusations, Si Qinglan was enraged, unleashing a torrent of insults at the kneeling Mo Yichu.

As she raged, the usually vibrant flowers in the hall withered silently.

“How dare you! That’s the…Heavenly! Demon! Demon Bone!!!” she shouted, her brow furrowed. “Tell me, how dare you?!”

The usually amiable Qingxuan Revered One was now terrifyingly furious.

The disciples of Mount Chao Yao were terrified, and the other immortals were stunned.

She declared that she never would have imagined such recklessness from a Mount Chao Yao junior!

She was heartbroken, she was furious!

Her emotions surged, her breathing ragged!

She almost hated this useless disciple!

    She declared:

Such a grave mistake at such a young age, this couldn’t be tolerated!

He must be punished, severely punished!

    —But!

    He wasn’t her disciple…

“Everyone knows Lingyao Revered One’s temper.” Si Qinglan’s expression turned troubled. “Mo Yichu is his only disciple, his precious treasure. I cannot overstep my boundaries…”

She turned to the other immortals and raised a finger. “How about this, I’ll confine him to the Spirit Restraint Hall, and we’ll decide on his punishment after Lingyao Revered One awakens?”

Protecting him! This was blatant favoritism!

Such a dramatic performance, only to let him off lightly in the end!

How could the other immortals tolerate this?

“Qingxuan Revered One, isn’t this a bit…inappropriate?” someone said with a sneer. “Everyone knows that Kun Peng Monarch’s hibernation lasts for centuries, perhaps even a millennium. Your junior released the Demon Bone, and we’re supposed to wait for him to wake up before getting an explanation?!”

“You’re right; this isn’t appropriate… How about this!” Si Qinglan conjured paper, brush, and ink. “I wouldn’t dare punish Lingyao Revered One’s disciple, but all of you, with your high cultivation and great power, are surely fearless. Whoever wants an explanation, write your name and sect here, and leave your mark. Everyone will bear witness, so when Lingyao Revered One awakens, he won’t come looking for me.”

    The immortals exchanged glances.

Si Qinglan: “As long as there’s a single name on this paper, I’ll hand him over, life or death, no longer Mount Chao Yao’s concern.”

This was clearly a list of enemies.

If everyone signed, it wouldn’t be a problem, but Si Qinglan said that even a single signature was enough for an explanation.

Once their goal was achieved, who could guarantee that others would share the responsibility?

If there were only a few names, or even just one, they would live in constant fear for centuries.

After a long silence, someone coughed and said, “Now that the Demon Bone has escaped, punishing a junior won’t change anything…”

“Yes, yes, Qingxuan Revered One, there’s no need to make things so difficult.”

“Just confine him for now, and we can discuss his punishment later. The priority is retrieving the Demon Bone!”

“And the demon-slaying formation must be completed!”

Si Qinglan inwardly breathed a sigh of relief as they spoke.

She looked at the injured Mo Yichu, her heart aching, but she could only say coldly, “You’ve committed a grave mistake, reflect on your actions in the Spirit Restraint Hall.”

She sighed and ordered someone to take him away.

Half an hour later, after everyone left the Flower Soul Hall, Si Qinglan wandered through Qianlizhu.

Looking at the flowers, their colors muted by the snow, a sense of melancholy washed over her.

No matter how beautiful, they were out of season, out of place.

Just a single snowfall, and they were buried…

    How meaningless.

    Si Qinglan smiled wryly.

The no-fly zone had been lifted, and over a hundred disciples from the mountain were now pursuing the escaped demon.

The immortal sects were also sending messengers; soon, the entire human realm would be searching for her.

Li Yu, I can’t help you anymore.

    Can you handle this alone…?

She couldn’t handle it anymore; she was exhausted.

Although she was reluctant to admit it, her internal injuries were severe.

Even without expending energy to conceal herself in the human realm, she didn’t have the strength to maintain the crane’s form and fly to the Demon Realm with Mu Tao.

When even the speed-enhancing technique dissipated, she stumbled in the deep snow.

Mu Tao quickly supported her, her light brown eyes filled with concern.

Her eyes slightly red, she whispered, “Master, let’s stop, let’s rest for a bit, alright?”

They were moving slowly; the pursuing cultivators might catch up soon…

Li Yu wanted to appear strong, but after a moment of thought, she nodded silently and let Mu Tao lead her to a large tree to rest.

As she sat down, she silently comforted herself.

It’s okay, you’ve done your best.

You’re exhausted; it’s fine to rest.

Sharpening the axe won’t delay the chopping of wood; there was no need to work herself to death.

As she was comforting herself, Mu Tao conjured a wind barrier and crouched down beside her, her eyes filled with worry. “Master, rest for a while. I’ll go find us something to eat.”

Li Yu nodded, holding onto her wrist. “Don’t use your demonic energy, it will attract attention.”

    Mu Tao: “Don’t worry, Master, I won’t!”

Li Yu: “Don’t go too far.”

    Mu Tao: “Mm!”

Li Yu: “If you encounter any danger…”

Mu Tao raised her right hand and gently shook the Harmony Bells. “One chime means I’m safe, three quick chimes mean danger! Don’t worry, Master, I won’t be reckless! I’ll ring the bells immediately if I’m in danger!”

Reassured, Li Yu released her wrist.

Mu Tao took a deep breath and ran into the snow.

As the red figure disappeared into the distance, Li Yu closed her eyes, focusing on regulating her breathing.

Finding food in this snowy wilderness wouldn’t be easy, and Mu Tao was gone for a long time.

Thankfully, the Harmony Bells connected them. Whenever Li Yu felt uneasy, a soft chime would reassure her of Mu Tao’s safety.

When Mu Tao returned, she carried an armful of firewood and two fish she had caught somewhere.

Having already cleaned the fish by the river, she built a fire, then returned to Li Yu, sat down beside her with a smile, and started grilling the fish on skewers.

Li Yu: “You caught fish in this weather?”

Mu Tao smiled and raised an eyebrow. “It wasn’t easy, but I know where fish like to hide in winter!”

Li Yu chuckled. “You even know that?”

“We can exchange spirit stones for food, and the spirit stones Master gives me every year are more than enough, but the other disciples don’t like me. They always make fun of me when I go down the mountain. If I can get it myself, it’s better to avoid them and save the spirit stones.”

    “…”

“There are two rivers in the mountains, plenty of fish! Whether it’s spring, summer, autumn, or winter, I can catch them whenever I want!” A hint of pride appeared in Mu Tao’s eyes. “Master, you have no idea how good I am at catching fish. Even some cats can’t compare to me!”

    “So impressive.”

“Not just fish, I can catch many small animals!”

The sky darkened, and the flickering firelight illuminated the girl’s smiling face.

Li Yu hugged her knees, watching the girl happily grilling the fish, her anxiety easing.

The last time she sat by a fire like this, there were many people around, she thought.

It was summer then, no snow, they sat around the fire, with pots and bowls, meat and vegetables, and a carriage to sleep in.

Life was full of ups and downs. Just half a year, and her life had changed so drastically.

    But this wasn’t so bad.

The fire was bright, its warmth seemingly dispelling the winter chill, crackling in the night wind, illuminating the falling snow.

The faint smell of smoke and grilling fish drifted away in the wind, a tranquility she had never experienced, even in her dreams.

She and Mu Tao, like protagonists on the run.

    With nothing but each other.

And when night fell, they sat by a fire, grilling whatever food they could find, sharing memories.

And at the end of their conversation, one of them would say—No matter what, we’ll find a place to belong!

She suddenly felt the urge to say something to Mu Tao.

She had many stories to tell.

But Mu Tao probably wouldn’t understand, and she couldn’t explain, so she suppressed the urge.

As the night deepened, the fish was cooked.

Li Yu took the skewers, and Mu Tao sat beside her, reminding her, “Be careful, Master, it’s hot!”

Li Yu nodded, carefully tore off a piece, cooled it down, and then took a bite.

    The fish…how to describe it…

Li Yu, not a picky eater, had a simple thought.

—Those scenes in movies and novels where protagonists caught fish or chicken and grilled them over a fire, enjoying a delicious meal, without any seasoning, were all lies.

The fish smelled good, but it didn’t taste good.

It had an earthy taste, a hint of bitterness from the smoke, and tiny bones hidden within the flesh. Nothing about it was praiseworthy.

But she didn’t find the taste particularly bad; she could eat it.

When she argued with her family as a child, even when she felt like running away, her mother would still drag her to the dinner table.

She would refuse to eat any dishes out of spite, just forcing down plain rice, tears streaming down her face.

Of course, she wasn’t being spiteful now, and there were no tears, just this bland, slightly tender grilled fish.

It was Mu Tao’s cooking; she could eat it.

The fire burned throughout the night.

They leaned against the tree, its warmth lulling them to sleep.

The wind and snow howled, yet the world seemed incredibly still.

As if all their fatigue could be dispelled in this quiet night.

In the following days, they continued their journey, hiding and resting.

Even a weakened god was still powerful. The spells cast by the only remaining god in the human realm weren’t easily seen through by ordinary cultivators. As long as they avoided high-ranking disciples, they wouldn’t be in too much danger.

Li Yu, realizing this, relaxed slightly.

Her exhausted body couldn’t handle a fast pace anyway, so she and Mu Tao slowed down, using their recovered spiritual energy for concealment.

Li Yu was grateful she hadn’t refused Qin Yuan’s gifts.

Those small, exquisite pieces of jewelry, forgotten in her spatial pouch, were now their source of funds.

They didn’t have to worry about food or travel expenses.

Having left Mount Chao Yao in a hurry, empty-handed, after visiting a human town, Mu Tao’s small bundle returned.

It wasn’t a full kitchen this time, but it contained all the essential seasonings.

Even though they were constantly hiding, often awakened in the middle of the night by searching parties, forced to flee, she still insisted on preparing proper meals.

Li Yu thought that perhaps this was the greatest comfort in their current situation.

She didn’t know how far the Demon Realm was, but this journey wasn’t as tiring as their previous trip to the human realm.

    It felt like…a vacation.

A vacation combined with a game of hide-and-seek.

She lost track of time and distance, the towns and villages they passed, the nights they spent in the wilderness.

She had never been to so many places, even including those childhood trips she barely remembered.

But it also didn’t feel like a long time.

At least, winter hadn’t ended yet.

The snow in the human realm fell and melted, melted and fell again.

A faint miasma lingered in the air, but the ordinary people, oblivious to it, continued their lives.

As they traveled, they stumbled upon a scene of festive red.

Children wearing tiger hats played in the streets, houses decorated with red paper and lanterns.

A snowman outside a house even had a red scarf.

Li Yu suddenly realized that the long winter was almost over.

“Master, what are they doing? It looks so lively!”

Mu Tao asked curiously, her light brown eyes scanning the festive scene, seemingly enjoying it.

“They are celebrating the New Year,” Li Yu replied softly, a smile in her eyes. “It’s also called the Spring Festival, the first day of the first lunar month. After the New Year, it will be spring soon.”

There were no such festivals on Mount Chao Yao. Mu Tao nodded, not quite understanding, and followed Li Yu into an inn.

That night, the innkeeper gave them two plates of dumplings.

She said it was New Year’s Eve, her staff had gone home, there weren’t many guests, and she had made a lot of dumplings with her children. She had just cooked some and, feeling sympathetic towards the two travelers, brought them some extra.

“It’s New Year’s Eve; you have to eat dumplings. This is a gift, no charge.” The innkeeper smiled warmly. “Eat up! Let me know if you want more.”

Li Yu thanked her, and the innkeeper left.

Before they finished their dumplings, crackling sounds came from outside.

They walked to the window and looked down to see the innkeeper and her two children lighting firecrackers.

Mu Tao’s eyes widened. “Master, what are those? Can I play with them too?”

“Those are firecrackers,” Li Yu said, smiling. “If you want to try, you can ask them.”

Mu Tao called out, “Innkeeper! I want to light firecrackers too!”

The innkeeper looked up, surprised, then smiled and waved.

“Come down here, little girl!” she called out, her breath misting in the cold air.

Mu Tao, abandoning her dumplings, happily ran downstairs.

Li Yu smiled and shook her head, then took the remaining dumplings, walked to the window, leaned against the frame, and watched Mu Tao playing below, enjoying the night breeze.

There were no firecrackers on Mount Chao Yao. Mu Tao, fascinated by them, seemed even more excited than the two children.

Li Yu looked at her carefree smile and had a thought.

    Staying here…didn’t seem so bad…

  • Qin Auntie, Save Me [Rebirth] 68p1

    Chapter 68 p1

When Shen Yiqiu woke up, the corners of her mouth ached, probably from smiling all night, even in her dreams, the sweetness lingering.

Happiness truly was the best tonic. Shen Yiqiu’s spirits had been improving these past few days, a constant smile playing on her lips even when she was alone, messaging quietly in a corner. She hadn’t noticed it herself, but it was obvious to others.

Just after class that day, Shen Yiqiu was preparing to go to the library to study. She had messaged Qin Qianrou before class, knowing Jiejie’s training schedule was packed today, she probably wouldn’t have time to reply.

    “Shen Yiqiu.”

Turning around, she saw Zhang Meng coming down the stairs and waved at her with a smile.

    “Where are you going?”

“My classes are over for today, I was going to the library. What about you, Senior?”

“I remember you have a lecture in the auditorium today, I came specifically to find you.”

Shen Yiqiu was curious, “Something I can help you with?”

Zhang Meng smiled, her eyes filled with shyness and happiness. “Gu Chao is here to see me, he wanted to treat you to dinner.”

“Gu Chao is here? Then wait for me a moment, I need to grab something from the library, I’ll meet you guys later.”

After agreeing on a restaurant, Shen Yiqiu hurried to the library. She had left a few textbooks in the reading room before class to reserve a seat.

Since she wasn’t going there anymore, she shouldn’t occupy the space, better to leave it for someone else.

When she arrived at the designated restaurant on the food street outside the university, Gu Chao and Zhang Meng were already there. Shen Yiqiu saw them sitting side by side, their heads together as they studied the menu, chatting and laughing. Even she, having just arrived, could sense their happiness.

She quickly walked over and sat down opposite them. “Sorry I’m late.”

Gu Chao poured her a glass of water. “We’re not in a hurry, it’s just been a while, I specifically asked Zhang Meng to contact you.”

Gu Chao was a good person, although after returning to Meng City, it had mostly been Zhang Meng trying to repay their debt of gratitude, Shen Yiqiu could sense his sincerity.

“I’ve already told Senior, we’re all friends, if you keep being so formal, I won’t dare to accept your invitation.”

Gu Chao chuckled heartily, “I understand, I understand, let’s just have a casual get-together today.”

The atmosphere was pleasant, the three of them chatting and laughing, the conversation mainly revolving around Hai City and Meng City.

Gu Chao wanted to move to Meng City, but Zhang Meng insisted he stay in Hai City to pursue better career opportunities, which had led to a minor disagreement between them. Afraid of upsetting his girlfriend, Gu Chao had come to see her, surprising her with his visit, and they had discussed their plans face-to-face.

Shen Yiqiu admired their enduring long-distance relationship, especially how strong their feelings remained after so many years apart; it wasn’t common among young couples, especially students.

“Senior, your relationship is so strong, any secrets to share?”

Shen Yiqiu was genuinely seeking advice. Although her relationship with Jiejie wasn’t officially established, their recent interactions had become increasingly ambiguous, she would occasionally send bolder, more intimate messages, although not explicitly romantic, certainly not typical between ordinary friends.

And Jiejie, not only hadn’t she avoided or corrected her, she would sometimes even respond in kind, which made Shen Yiqiu realize that reciprocated feelings were indeed much sweeter than unrequited love, and her heart was filled with a restless yearning.

Even just a short training program meant being apart; she didn’t want anything to go wrong, she wanted her relationship with Jiejie to continue smoothly.

Zhang Meng pointed at Gu Chao. “It’s mostly thanks to him. In a relationship, there’s always one person who has to put in more effort.”

Gu Chao blushed slightly at the praise, but he also readily praised his girlfriend, “You’ve also put in a lot of effort, I know you’ve always been accommodating and tolerant. If it weren’t for your good nature, we would have broken up long ago.”

Shen Yiqiu shivered; she was truly stuffed from all this “dog food” (public displays of affection).

“Hey, Shen Yiqiu, why are you suddenly asking about this?” Zhang Meng winked at her meaningfully. “Is there a situation?”

    “No!”

After denying it, she felt she shouldn’t have. Although her feelings for Jiejie weren’t conventionally accepted, they were just as genuine and intense as any other love.

“I was just asking, trying to learn some tips.” She lowered her voice, hiding her face behind her teacup.

Zhang Meng smiled, “You must be in love, you’ve been glowing lately, it’s so obvious.”

Shen Yiqiu was stunned, “That obvious?”

Zhang Meng nodded. “You might not have realized it yourself, but I saw you in the library once, sitting there giggling to yourself, I didn’t want to disturb you.”

Uh, such an embarrassing moment, and she had been seen by the senior.

She looked down, taking a sip of water to hide her embarrassment, and Zhang Meng and Gu Chao chuckled.

“Being in love is normal, especially during the initial stages, you can’t help but daydream, don’t be embarrassed.”

Gu Chao’s words of comfort eased Shen Yiqiu’s embarrassment slightly, but she was still too shy to continue discussing relationships.

“Gu Chao, are you really planning to settle down in Meng City after graduation?”

Meng City was nice, its slower pace more suitable for living, but for Gu Chao’s major, Hai City definitely offered better career opportunities.

“That’s my plan, but there aren’t many relevant companies in Meng City. I’ve contacted a few, and their responses haven’t been very encouraging.”

Shen Yiqiu was surprised. “That’s strange, Meng City is in dire need of high-end talent like you, they shouldn’t be so dismissive.”

Zhang Meng sighed, “In Meng City, getting a good job still depends on connections. With similar qualifications, those with connections have a significant advantage. That’s why I want him to stay in Hai City, at least there, it’s all about merit.”

Gu Chao also fell silent, connections, something children from ordinary families like them lacked.

    “What about your plans, Senior?”

“I plan to find a job in Hai City after graduation. The job market for my major is similar in both Meng City and Hai City, I don’t want him to sacrifice his career prospects for me.”

Putting aside their previous traumatic experience, objectively speaking, Hai City did offer many more opportunities than Meng City.

“There’s no rush, I’m still revising my thesis.” Gu Chao smiled affectionately and stroked Zhang Meng’s hair.

    “Is your current advisor better?”

Gu Chao nodded, satisfied. “Much better. I actually wanted to work with him before, but we never had the chance to connect, and I was misled by He Chao, made the wrong choice.”

It had been a while since she had heard He Chao’s name, and Shen Yiqiu felt a slight pang of discomfort, but she quickly recovered.

“My current advisor is dedicated to research, not very good at self-promotion. If it weren’t for He Chao’s downfall, these senior professors wouldn’t have had a chance.” Gu Chao’s tone was filled with emotion.

Zhang Meng casually asked, “I heard He Chao is appealing his sentence?”

Shen Yiqiu was taken aback. He Chao hadn’t given up yet? Still trying to fight back even after being imprisoned, did he really think he had a chance of overturning his conviction?

She had attended the trial, although the charges were mainly related to academic misconduct, the evidence had been overwhelming, there had been no room for argument. If those charges could be overturned, Shen Yiqiu would be shocked.

Gu Chao’s expression turned serious. “I did hear he’s been actively contacting lawyers recently, but it doesn’t seem to be for an appeal. I don’t know the details, since the incident, everyone at the university has distanced themselves from him.”

The He Chao couple had no children, and even their relatives and close acquaintances, those who had benefited from their influence in the past, had rarely visited them.

Zhang Meng and Gu Chao didn’t know about the He Chao couple’s other crimes, and Shen Yiqiu didn’t intend to tell them, the more people who knew, the more trouble it would cause, they were just an ordinary couple, they should live ordinary lives.

Dragging them into this wouldn’t be good for them.

“I heard Reporter Qin is on a business trip, I haven’t seen her around lately.”

“She’s in Hai City for a training program, she’s been there for a while.”

Shen Yiqiu’s voice softened unconsciously when she mentioned Qin Qianrou.

That involuntary smile reappeared on her face, and Zhang Meng and Gu Chao exchanged glances, seemingly having noticed something.

Zhang Meng thought for a moment, then said, “I used to see a man coming to the university to see you, haven’t seen him around lately.”

Shen Yiqiu, recalling her classmates’ wild imaginations earlier, couldn’t help but facepalm.

“That’s my cousin, he had just returned from traveling abroad.”

So it was her cousin, that’s good.

Zhang Meng secretly breathed a sigh of relief, then, remembering what she had said to Qin Qianrou, she felt a little worried.

“Senior, what’s wrong?” Shen Yiqiu noticed the sudden change in Zhang Meng’s expression.

“I need to tell you something, please don’t be angry.”

Shen Yiqiu chuckled. “Senior, don’t suddenly get so serious, I’m not used to it.”

Zhang Meng recounted her encounter with Qin Qianrou at the university gate, not hiding the fact that she had initially thought Yuan Qi seemed like a bad influence.

Shen Yiqiu burst out laughing after hearing this.

“So that’s how my cousin came across. I’ve been telling him to shave that mustache, but he insists it’s fashionable.”

Zhang Meng felt a pang of awkwardness, then, seeing that Shen Yiqiu wasn’t offended, she relaxed.

“But Reporter Qin is truly responsible, after I told her, she came to pick you up immediately.”

    So that was it.

    Shen Yiqiu finally understood.

Jiejie hadn’t mentioned it at all, she hadn’t expected this to be the reason.

Shen Yiqiu refilled Zhang Meng’s teacup, “Senior, I should be the one thanking you.”

Zhang Meng thought she was being sarcastic and became slightly anxious again, “Thank me? I’m just glad you’re not angry with me.”

“I should thank you. Thank you for being concerned about me, for telling her about my situation, and thank you for telling me all this today.”

Shen Yiqiu had always thought it was her love that had touched Qin Qianrou’s heart, that had given their relationship a chance. But now, a new thought blossomed within her: Jiejie has always cared about me, she just never said it.

Sweet bubbles of happiness rose within her, making every bite she took taste like honey, her joy amplified.

Their meal lasted for a long time, and only after most of the other students had left did they finally pay the bill and leave.

“Gu Chao, are you going back to Hai City this weekend?”

    “Yes, are you going too?”

“Mm, that’s the plan, but I still need to discuss it with her.”

After strolling around the campus for a while, Shen Yiqiu excused herself, not wanting to be a third wheel any longer.

After she left, Zhang Meng watched her figure disappear into the distance, then turned to Gu Chao and said, “Do you know what I was just thinking?”

Gu Chao casually kissed her forehead, “About her relationship with Reporter Qin.”

“I’m not sure if I’m being too sensitive, overthinking things.”

Gu Chao looked at his girlfriend, nestled in his arms, and agreed, “Even a straight guy like me sensed it, I don’t think you’re overthinking it.”

Zhang Meng looked at him in surprise, then her expression turned worried. “I’m worried about them.”

Gu Chao sighed and held her closer.

  • The Delicate Female Lead Only Wants to be Loved by the Villainous Young Ladies 303

    Chapter 303: Please Be Gentle

Although most people now considered “pure love” to refer to a pure, one-on-one relationship, it also had a broader definition: as long as there was true love, it was pure love. If it was the latter, then the relationship between Adele and Dorothy undoubtedly qualified.

Even a chaotic, multi-person relationship… could also be called pure love! It could only be said that Adele’s love was overflowing, but it couldn’t be said to be impure.

Inside the small cabin in the forest, Dorothy and Adele enjoyed each other’s warm embrace.

The girls weren’t in a hurry to express their accumulated passion with fervent touches and kisses, but gently savored this unique, comfortable feeling.

Adele closed her eyes, letting Dorothy’s arm wrap around her, feeling the soft kisses on her shoulder.

Although the girl spent all her time either engaging in lewd acts or on her way to engage in lewd acts, dating a beautiful girl was something that never got old.

Adele just felt a little emotional during this process.

Because just a long… yet seemingly fleeting time ago, she and Dorothy were still enemies, in a completely unequal relationship.

At that time, she definitely wouldn’t have imagined that there would be a day when Dorothy would be willing to abandon her crown for her, willing to share the deepest softness of her heart.

In comparison, was she, Adele, the one who was hiding many secrets, not being honest at all?

Adele’s eyes flickered. Perhaps it was the quiet night that gave her room for random thoughts. Or perhaps, unconsciously, Adele, who was most likely a refined egoist by nature, was also influenced and changed by Dorothy and the other girls’ pure and flawless love. She also wanted to do something to repay their love, in a selfless way. But how… was a difficult question for a girl who was used to being pampered.

“Adele… what are you thinking about?” Perhaps noticing Adele’s silence, Dorothy stopped kissing, her cheek against Adele’s hair, and asked gently.

    “N-nothing.” Adele clenched her fingers.

“Really nothing?” Adele clearly looked a little melancholic.

That’s why Dorothy couldn’t help but ask, wanting to ease the girl’s worries.

But since it was something Adele wasn’t ready to share…

“Forget it, just remember, Adele, I can help you with anything.” Dorothy indulged Adele.

But it was this indulgence that made Adele feel even more guilty.

Why was it always others who made efforts for her?

Sometimes… she also wanted to do something for them.

Whether it was Dorothy, Hermione, or Celeste, Sharon, and the others… And many more, anyone who doted on her, Adele wanted to repay their affection. Even if she couldn’t repay them with equal value. Because Adele knew her own limitations.

She wasn’t an omnipotent god. Individually, she had no money and no power.

Her academic performance was good, but not outstanding.

Her magic had only improved thanks to First Snow’s tutoring and selfless teaching.

But even such a girl, above average in every aspect, resorting to various opportunistic methods, would also have the thought of sincerely repaying the girls, even if it meant hard work.

So, she said in a slightly hoarse, vulnerable voice,

    “No…”

“It can’t just be Dorothy who gives unilaterally!”

    “…”

Adele curled up, unconsciously moving away from Dorothy’s embrace.

“I also want to… do something for Dorothy, for everyone.”

“Don’t say things like ‘just having you by our side is enough, we’re very happy and satisfied’…”

“Demand more from me, even be a little greedy…”

    “I think… I’ll just pout and indulge you…”

Dorothy listened silently, her expression changing noticeably, a mix of surprise, astonishment, and inexplicable relief.

Although Adele’s initial impression was that of a pure, kind, and pitiful little lamb, seemingly destined to be targeted by ferocious predators, and much to Dorothy’s regret, she was the ferocious hunter who had initially brought Adele to her side.

To atone, Dorothy had paid a heavy price, let’s not talk about that for now. Just say that after Dorothy cleansed her sins and was forgiven by Adele, in their interactions and intimate relationship, she increasingly realized one thing: Adele wasn’t a pitiful, soft little lamb or a timid little rabbit. This girl was simply a cunning, spoiled, and greedy little fox! But even her greed was cute!

Celeste, Hermione… and other girls had all been deceived by Adele’s innocent and touching appearance. And they all had one thing in common: Even after seeing through Adele’s cunning fox nature, they still followed their hearts and chose to forgive and accept.

Their love for Adele hadn’t changed because they discovered her true face. On the contrary, loving someone meant loving all of them. Whether it was Adele’s gentle and kind side, or her selfish and cunning side, they indulged and pampered this little fox like watering a delicate and arrogant flower.

And now, this flower had finally bloomed, magnificent and romantic.

The flower that was used to being loved would one day open all its petals, offering the sweetest nectar, showing its softest core, wanting to present its beauty to everyone.

Looking at such a girl, how could Dorothy not feel immense relief and… excitement?

    “I understand.”

“Then be prepared… to repay us well, Adele~” Dorothy’s voice was seductive.

At the same time, she grabbed Adele’s waist, and with a slight force, made the girl, who couldn’t help but gasp, kneel on the ground, her buttocks raised.

    “Wah!!”

    “Wh-what are you suddenly…”

“Didn’t you say you wanted us to be more unrestrained, to demand more from you, Adele?”

    Now, Adele understood Dorothy’s intention.

    The girl blushed, speechless.

“I-I did say that! But can’t you think about something other than lewd things!?”

“I can cook for you, give you a lap pillow, accompany you to watch movies and go shopping.”

“Eek… d-don’t pull so hard, it’s hurting my thighs! It hurts a little! I’ll cooperate!”

Dorothy didn’t expect Adele to accuse her of only thinking about lewd things. But she was just full of desire for Adele. So, no matter what Adele said, she wouldn’t stop.

Soon, the petite and cute girl was stripped naked by Dorothy, like a newly grown bamboo shoot, or a sweet lychee pudding.

    Dorothy couldn’t help but swallow.

Of course, she didn’t need to endure anymore.

Having finally waited for an opportunity where Adele was willing… to give, to submit, Dorothy wouldn’t let it go.

Although Adele was a little embarrassed, she… wasn’t surprised that she had ended up in this situation.

Oh well, just consider it one last indulgence before leaving Twilight City.

Adele closed her eyes shyly, then, trembling, raised her cute, tight little bottom… Really… what is Dorothy doing in front of Flower (the doll)… ruining her childhood? But it didn’t seem to have changed much. It was just that when she was young, Dorothy liked to play with dolls. And when she grew up… she liked to play with Adele, who was more doll-like than a doll, beautiful and stunning!

The shy girl, facing this inevitable reality, could only softly plead,

    “Please… be gentle.”

  • You’re Not Allowed to Kiss Me Anymore! [Quick Transmigration] 46p1

    Chapter 46 p1

Xin Yao flung open the hotel room door and pulled Xu Jingyu inside.

    Bang!

The door slammed shut behind them, the room lights illuminating the familiar space, calming Xin Yao’s frayed nerves.

But her heart still pounded in her chest.

She leaned against the door, gasping for breath, her hand clutching Xu Jingyu’s wrist, her fingers trembling.

Xu Jingyu, having been dragged along for the ride, had no idea what had happened. She looked at Xin Yao’s terrified expression, her hand gently stroking her hair.

    “What’s wrong? What happened?”

Her cool, calm voice brought Xin Yao back to reality. She looked at Xu Jingyu, her mind still racing.

For a few terrifying moments, she had truly believed she had seen a ghost, that her life was about to end.

She had even considered how to plead with the ghost, what she could offer to appease it.

Would mentioning her ailing mother and sister work?

Or should she fight back, a desperate struggle in the stairwell? Having died once before, she wasn’t afraid of death!

But seeing Xu Jingyu had banished those thoughts. Her only concern had been Xu Jingyu’s safety.

She had been ready to sacrifice herself, to distract the ghost so that Xu Jingyu could escape.

The thought made her grip tighten on Xu Jingyu’s wrist, her fingers leaving red marks on her pale skin.

She looked up at Xu Jingyu, her lips parting as if to speak, but only a shaky breath escaped her lips.

Then, tears started to fall, rolling down her cheeks like tiny pearls, her expression a mix of fear and relief.

Each tear seemed to pierce Xu Jingyu’s heart, softening her usual aloofness, her own anxiety growing.

She reached out to embrace Xin Yao.

Xin Yao, however, had already thrown herself into her arms, her own arms wrapping around Xu Jingyu’s waist, her sobs echoing through the room.

“Xu Jingyu! I thought I’d never see you again!”

“You don’t know… I saw a ghost! And it chased me! It was terrifying!”

“Its screams were so chilling! It must have died a horrible death! But why was it chasing me?!”

“It was so scary! You wouldn’t believe how it looked! Its eyes were bulging out of its head!”

Xu Jingyu held her close, her arms tightening around Xin Yao’s trembling body, offering silent comfort.

    A ghost?

She recalled the fleeting glimpse she had caught in the hallway, the screaming figure chasing after Xin Yao.

She was starting to understand what had happened.

She gently patted Xin Yao’s back.

    “It’s okay. It’s over now.”

She wanted to say more, but Xin Yao didn’t give her a chance.

After all, for Xin Yao, it had been a near-death experience.

Even now, safe in Xu Jingyu’s arms, back in the familiar comfort of her hotel room, she was still shaken.

She looked up at Xu Jingyu, her eyes still filled with tears, then, unable to hold back any longer, she pulled Xu Jingyu’s face down and kissed her.

It was a fierce, desperate kiss, Xin Yao’s most passionate yet, as if she needed to confirm Xu Jingyu’s reality, her lips clinging to hers like a lifeline.

It was a release of all her pent-up emotions: her unspoken love, her longing, her fear.

Xu Jingyu, surprisingly, didn’t respond with her usual intensity.

Instead, she let Xin Yao kiss her, her arms holding her close, offering silent comfort and reassurance.

Her passivity, however, only fueled Xin Yao’s passion.

Emboldened, she pushed Xu Jingyu against the wall, her body clinging to hers, her fingers digging into her shoulders, leaving faint marks on her skin.

After a long while, she finally pulled away, her breath coming in short gasps, her head resting against Xu Jingyu’s shoulder.

She had calmed down, but Xu Jingyu, the usually aloof and composed actress, looked like she had been ravaged, her lips swollen, her eyes shining, her neck and shoulders marked by Xin Yao’s fingers.

Xu Jingyu’s arm tightened around her shoulders. “Yaoyao, can you tell me what happened now?”

Having been back in her room for a while, the initial panic subsiding, Xin Yao finally calmed down enough to think rationally.

As she replayed the events of the evening in her mind, she realized something wasn’t quite right.

    She hesitated, then spoke.

“When the elevator doors opened, I saw this terrifying figure standing there, and I thought it was a ghost.”

She recounted the entire incident, every detail.

Xu Jingyu, listening, realized it had been a misunderstanding.

But as Xin Yao described her fear, her trembling legs, her tears, Xu Jingyu’s arms tightened around her waist.

This person, so terrified, so vulnerable, had still thought of Xu Jingyu’s safety, willing to face the “ghost” alone so that Xu Jingyu could escape.

How could someone like Xin Yao even exist?

Perhaps she didn’t fully understand what love was yet, but Xu Jingyu knew that Xin Yao was her everything.

And in that moment, holding Xin Yao close, a crack appeared in the wall around her heart, letting in a ray of warmth and light.

But the more Xin Yao talked, the more embarrassed she became. She touched her nose sheepishly.

    “I think… I might have been mistaken…”

Her words, and her embarrassed expression, softened Xu Jingyu’s gaze even further, her heart melting at Xin Yao’s cuteness. She stroked Xin Yao’s hair.

    “Actually…”

Just as she was about to speak, a knock echoed through the room.

Xin Yao instinctively clutched Xu Jingyu’s shirt, her anxiety returning.

Xu Jingyu patted her back reassuringly, her eyes narrowing slightly, her voice soft.

“Yaoyao, do you remember Meng Wanqing, the actress I mentioned this morning?”

    Meng Wanqing?

Xin Yao’s eyes flickered with confusion, then she nodded, remembering their earlier conversation in the car.

Meng Wanqing, the zombie movie, the ghost-like appearance…

    The pieces clicked into place.

The “ghost” she had encountered tonight… could it have been Meng Wanqing?

Xu Jingyu, seeing the dawning realization in Xin Yao’s eyes, nodded.

“Yes, I saw her briefly when I got off the elevator. The person chasing you… it looked like her. And she’s probably the one knocking on the door now.”

“Should we ignore her? Or should I go and send her away?”

    Xin Yao’s face flushed crimson.

Oh my god! She had been wrong!

She replayed the events of the past hour in her mind, her embarrassment growing with each passing moment.

She had screamed and run through the hotel, headbutted a famous actress, and dragged a bewildered Xu Jingyu along for the ride!

She took a deep breath, her hands covering her face, mortified.

Just as she wanted to disappear, Xu Jingyu, standing before her, bent down, her gaze meeting Xin Yao’s.

    “Thank you,” she said softly.

“Huh?” Xin Yao looked up, confused. Thank her for what?

Xu Jingyu’s eyes were soft and warm in the dim light.

“Whether you were mistaken or not, you thought it was a ghost, and you were still willing to protect me.”

“I can’t thank you enough for that.”

Her words, spoken with such sincerity, transformed the embarrassing incident into a precious gesture of love and devotion.

Xin Yao’s embarrassment faded, a smile touching her lips.

    “It’s nothing. I wasn’t thinking.”

Just as they were about to delve into another heartfelt conversation, the knocking resumed.

Xin Yao, remembering the person outside, looked at Xu Jingyu, then at the door.

“Maybe we should open the door.”

Xu Jingyu, always responsive to Xin Yao’s wishes, turned and opened the door.

Xin Yao, still slightly apprehensive, hid behind Xu Jingyu, peeking out cautiously.

    She didn’t see anyone.

Then, a faint knocking sound came from below.

She looked down and saw a figure sprawled on the carpet in front of their door.

It was the “ghost,” Meng Wanqing, her clothes torn and bloodstained, her hair a mess.

She was weakly knocking on the doorframe, her voice barely a whisper.

    “There’s no ghost… help me… I want to live…”

She clearly wanted to live, very much so.

Xin Yao, clutching Xu Jingyu’s sleeve, asked, “But why are you… lying on the floor?”

Meng Wanqing’s voice was even weaker now. “My legs… they gave way… I crawled here…”

    Xin Yao was impressed.

Ten minutes later, the three women, the perpetrators of the late-night hotel chaos, were gathered in Xin Yao’s room.

Xu Jingyu and Xin Yao sat together on the sofa, Meng Wanqing sitting opposite them.

Her face, deemed too gruesome to behold, was covered by a piece of clothing, Xu Jingyu having ordered her not to show it.

Meng Wanqing, annoyed, slammed her hand on the table.

“This is outrageous! You two heartless wretches! How could you?!”

“You just left me there! What if there really was a ghost?!”

“You ran so fast! Like lightning!”

“Especially you, Xu Jingyu! You saw my face, and you still ran away!”

She pointed an accusing finger at Xu Jingyu.

But her vision obscured by the cloth covering her face, her finger poked Xin Yao instead.

Xin Yao gently redirected her finger towards Xu Jingyu.

Xu Jingyu, her expression cold and impassive, swatted Meng Wanqing’s hand away.

“Then you should have stayed there and died.”

As they talked, Xin Yao learned that Xu Jingyu, Meng Wanqing, and Xue Ning knew each other, having grown up together.

So, Meng Wanqing, less intimidated by Xu Jingyu than most people, continued her rant.

    “Does she even sound human?!”

“And do I look like a ghost?!”

Xin Yao, always honest, nodded. “Yes.”

A silence filled the room, Meng Wanqing deflating slightly.

After a moment, she muttered, “Honestly, I scare myself when I look in the mirror.”

    Meng Wanqing: “I’m sorry.”

    Xin Yao: “No, I’m sorry.”

After all, Xin Yao was unharmed, while Meng Wanqing had a large bump on her head.

Meng Wanqing touched her forehead gingerly.

“Damn, girl, you have a hard head.”

    Xin Yao chuckled awkwardly.

    “Thanks.”

    “You’re welcome.”

“But you’re really loyal,” Meng Wanqing said, her usual boisterous nature returning, seemingly unfazed by the earlier incident. She actually seemed to like Xin Yao.

“You were terrified, but you still grabbed Xu Jingyu and ran. I like that. What’s your name? Let’s exchange numbers. I need more friends like you…”

Before she could finish, Xu Jingyu grabbed her by the collar, lifting her out of her chair.

Xu Jingyu, holding Meng Wanqing like a kettle, her expression calm, looked at Xin Yao.

“We need to talk. In private.”

Xin Yao reached out, slightly worried about Meng Wanqing’s safety.

But seeing the tension in Xu Jingyu’s eyes, the barely controlled anger simmering beneath the surface, she nodded, retracting her hand.

Xu Jingyu dragged Meng Wanqing out of the room, closing the door behind them before releasing her.

Meng Wanqing, feeling humiliated, rubbed her neck.

“What was that for?! I was about to get her number!”

Xu Jingyu, her arms crossed, glared at her.

“Don’t ever enter a hotel without removing your makeup again.”

Her height gave her a natural advantage, her gaze condescending.

    “Or what?”

Xu Jingyu’s silent stare was enough of an answer. If Meng Wanqing dared to challenge her, she might not live to see another day.

She didn’t want to wake up to headlines like “Actress Caught Crawling Through Hotel Hallway” or “Ms. Meng’s Strange Nighttime Activities.”

So, without hesitation, she quickly apologized, her voice meek and submissive.

“Yes, ma’am. Whatever you say, ma’am. You’re the boss.”

Xu Jingyu looked at her. “And stay away from Xin Yao.”

    What?

Why?! She couldn’t even make friends now?!

But Meng Wanqing, while annoyed, didn’t dare to argue. She lowered her head, muttering a soft “okay.”

Dealing with Meng Wanqing was a quick and efficient affair. Within minutes, Xu Jingyu returned to the room.

Xin Yao was sitting on the sofa, lost in thought.

The lights were still on, illuminating her in her white dress, her appearance soft and ethereal.

Xu Jingyu walked over to her, about to speak, when Xin Yao, hearing her approach, looked up.

In the soft light, her gaze meeting Xu Jingyu’s, she reached out and took Xu Jingyu’s hand, her voice soft, her eyes gentle.

“Xu Jingyu, I’m still a little scared.”

“I can’t sleep alone tonight. Can you stay with me?”

Her words, like a shower of roses transformed into arrows, pierced Xu Jingyu’s heart, making it bloom.

Her heart overflowing with joy, she didn’t hesitate.

    “Okay.”

The drama finally ended around 1 am.

After eating, showering, and dealing with the frantic hotel manager, who had received noise complaints and had rushed upstairs, Xin Yao finally went to bed.

    And tonight, she wasn’t alone.

They turned off the lights, and Xu Jingyu lay beside her in the darkness.

Listening to her soft breathing, feeling her presence, Xin Yao’s fear subsided, her eyelashes fluttering against her cheeks.

But she was also restless, her mind racing, unable to sleep.

Xu Jingyu, lying beside her, was also awake, her eyes open in the darkness, her thoughts consumed by Xin Yao’s actions that night.

Her fear, her tears, her courage, it all tugged at Xu Jingyu’s heart, awakening the intense emotions she had felt from the moment she saw Xin Yao’s photo, a wave of longing that threatened to overwhelm her.

    How could she sleep?

She turned over, looking at Xin Yao’s silhouette in the darkness, and pulled her closer.

Feeling Xu Jingyu’s warmth, her embrace, Xin Yao didn’t turn around, simply murmuring, “Hold me tighter.”

Xu Jingyu’s arms tightened around her.

    “Tighter.”

Xu Jingyu held her even closer.

    “Tighter.”

Finally, their bodies pressed together, their skin burning against each other, Xu Jingyu’s embrace almost painful, Xin Yao was satisfied.

Xu Jingyu rested her chin on Xin Yao’s head.

“I actually wish you hadn’t grabbed my hand tonight. I wish you had left me there.”

Xin Yao paused, then turned over in Xu Jingyu’s embrace, her face pressed against her chest.

    “Why?”

“More than saving me,” Xu Jingyu stroked her hair, “I want you to be safe.”

Xin Yao scoffed. “If I had abandoned you in a dangerous situation, you would have been furious when you finally escaped.”

“Would I?” Xu Jingyu couldn’t imagine herself losing control. “I don’t think so.”

    Xin Yao laughed.

“You don’t know yourself very well.”

“You wouldn’t hate me, but you would definitely be upset, thinking I had abandoned you. And then, after escaping, you would have come looking for me, dragging me back, forcing me to stay with you.”

Her dramatic retelling made Xu Jingyu chuckle. “Is that what you think of me?”

But thinking about it, it did sound like something she would do.

And she didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. She would simply be protecting Xin Yao from harm.

    But…

Xu Jingyu nuzzled her head against Xin Yao’s.

“Regardless, I would have wanted you to leave me there.”

I would rather die than put you in danger.

    And perhaps…

Even if I died, I would come back for you.

Xin Yao thought Xu Jingyu was being a bit dramatic.

She didn’t argue, simply snuggling closer, her voice soft.

    “I wouldn’t.”

    “I would never leave you.”

Her words, whispered in the darkness, warmed Xu Jingyu’s heart.

She tightened her embrace, about to say something, but then, looking down, she saw that Xin Yao had fallen asleep.

She smiled softly, her silence a silent promise.

  • On How to Conquer System Fairies and Make Them Your Wives 191

    Chapter 191: Exceptionally Gifted

Ye Huang arrived shortly and left with a thoughtful expression after a brief discussion with Chen Yin.

As soon as he left, another knock came at the door.

“Big Brother, Lian’er is here again!”

Chen Yin opened the door, and there she stood, in her short, light gray dress, her silver jewelry jingling.

Lian’er had been coming every day for her cultivation lessons. After Chen Yin helped her open her meridians, she could now absorb spiritual energy.

She had taken her first step on the path of cultivation.

The process had been mostly smooth, albeit a little… distracting.

Chen Yin watched her munching on a pastry and cleared his throat, trying to sound serious.

“Lian’er, listen carefully. After all your hard work, your spiritual energy can now flow freely through your meridians.”

“So, today, we’ll be taking a very important step.”

“…Gathering Qi in your dantian and embarking on the path of immortality.”

Lian’er’s eyes widened with excitement. “Today? Really?”

“Yay! Lian’er won’t be scolded by the Grand Witch anymore!”

Seeing her cheerful reaction, Chen Yin wondered how the Grand Witch usually treated her.

“Pay close attention to what I’m about to teach you…”

He carefully explained the key principles of Gathering Qi.

Gathering Qi was the process of absorbing spiritual energy from the world, circulating it through the meridians and acupoints, and then condensing it within the dantian.

After this baptism of spiritual energy, the body would no longer rely on food for sustenance, but on the essence of heaven and earth.

    It was a complete transformation.

“Although it sounds simple, the amount and purity of the spiritual energy absorbed during Gathering Qi will greatly affect your future cultivation.”

Chen Yin said seriously, “I’ll provide you with the best possible conditions, but you must be prepared to endure some discomfort.”

    Lian’er nodded seriously.

“Lian’er is not afraid of pain.”

Chen Yin ruffled her hair and instructed her to sit cross-legged on the bed.

…Once this was done, he could finally ask the Grand Witch to take him to the Phantasmal Harmony Ganoderma.

He sat behind her, closed his eyes, and formed a hand seal.

A surge of spiritual energy flooded the room, a gentle, invisible wind rustling Lian’er’s clothes and hair.

But Chen Yin just glanced at the incoming energy and dismissed it.

    It wasn’t pure enough.

The spiritual energy in the Wu Xuan Cave was tainted with miasma, far below his standards.

Since he had made a promise to the Grand Witch, he might as well do it properly and provide Lian’er with the best possible foundation.

He pulled out countless pill bottles from the System Shop and crushed them into powder.

This time, a pure and potent vortex of spiritual energy, almost tangible, enveloped Lian’er’s small body.

A look of pain crossed her face.

“Hold on,” Chen Yin said softly.

    Lian’er nodded, biting her lip.

Chen Yin began channeling the spiritual energy, guiding it through her body, following the principles of the “Forgotten Everlasting Heart Sutra.”

In this state of heightened awareness, his surroundings transformed. He was no longer in his room, but in a vast expanse of pure spiritual energy.

Lian’er stood before him, naked, her skin as white and smooth as jade, bathed in the gentle flow of spiritual energy.

Chen Yin’s heart skipped a beat at the sight.

But he was no longer a virgin, so he quickly composed himself and focused on controlling the energy flow.

The pure and potent spiritual energy circulated through Lian’er’s meridians, slowly converging towards her dantian.

Although Lian’er’s brow was furrowed in concentration, she didn’t make a sound.

Chen Yin breathed a sigh of relief.

Once all the energy had been absorbed into her dantian, the process would be complete.

    But several minutes passed.

And Chen Yin realized something was wrong.

    …This wasn’t normal.

    Why wasn’t it over yet?

Lian’er was a beginner, her dantian untrained.

Even a small fraction of the energy he had gathered should have been enough for her to reach the Gathering Qi Realm.

But her dantian continued to absorb the vast amounts of spiritual energy, showing no signs of reaching its limit.

What was going on? Chen Yin frowned.

Ignoring any sense of propriety, he gently placed his hand on her lower abdomen, sensing the flow of energy towards her dantian.

…There was nothing wrong with her dantian. It wasn’t even close to being full.

But it was like a bottomless pit, endlessly absorbing the incoming energy.

Chen Yin watched her closely, ready to stop the process at any moment if something went wrong.

But everything seemed to be proceeding smoothly.

Until the surrounding spiritual energy began to dissipate, and Lian’er’s dantian still showed no signs of being full.

Chen Yin hesitated, then gritted his teeth and pulled out more pills from the System Shop, crushing them into powder.

Another wave of potent spiritual energy surged towards Lian’er’s dantian.

Chen Yin had thought this would be a simple process, completed before nightfall.

But as night fell, the room was filled with piles of empty pill bottles.

Lian’er’s dantian finally showed a hint of fullness.

After another round of pills, her dantian finally seemed to reach its limit. Chen Yin breathed a sigh of relief, dispersed the remaining energy, and turned to look at her intently.

Lian’er opened her eyes, her expression weary.

Her body was covered in sweat, her hair and clothes clinging to her skin, outlining her curves.

“Big Brother… is it finally over?” she asked, her eyes filled with a mixture of exhaustion and relief.

    Chen Yin nodded silently.

    “Are you feeling any discomfort?”

“I’m fine… just a little sticky and uncomfortable.”

Lian’er wrinkled her nose, looking at her sweat-soaked clothes with a displeased expression.

“That’s normal. Gathering Qi is like a baptism for your body, cleansing it of impurities.”

    “So this is all dirt?”

Lian’er’s frown deepened. “Big Brother, do you have any other clothes? Can I borrow some?”

Chen Yin thought for a moment and pulled out a light yellow dress from the System Shop.

    Lian’er immediately started undressing.

    “Hey, wait!”

Chen Yin was startled. “What are you doing? I’m still here!”

“Changing clothes.” Lian’er blinked her large, innocent eyes. “Why are you leaving, Big Brother?”

    “You’re… a girl…”

“But you’ve already touched Lian’er everywhere. What’s the big deal about seeing me?”

    Chen Yin was speechless.

This girl was more shameless than he was.

Although Lian’er didn’t seem to mind, Chen Yin blushed and turned away.

After a moment of rustling, Lian’er emerged in the new dress, but she still looked dissatisfied.

    “I’m still dirty… I need to take a bath.”

“It’s fine, you can wash up later when you get back.”

“Do you want to join me, Big Brother?” Lian’er looked at him seriously.

    “…No, thank you.”

For some reason, Chen Yin felt like he was the one being teased.

But looking at this innocent and pure girl, he couldn’t bring himself to have any impure thoughts.

Such pure and innocent girls were rare.

As Lian’er was about to leave, Chen Yin called out to her, “If you feel any discomfort in the next few days, tell me immediately.”

“Okay.” Lian’er thought for a moment, then asked, “Can I come and play with Big Brother even if I’m not feeling unwell?”

Chen Yin figured it would be good to check on her regularly, so he nodded.

    “Thank you, Big Brother!”

Lian’er smiled brightly and skipped away.

Chen Yin watched her go, a thoughtful expression on his face.

A moment later, Qingying appeared beside him.

“You’ve been busy. From afternoon till night.”

    “You noticed?”

“It’s hard to miss such a huge surge of spiritual energy.” Qingying scoffed. “Does Gathering Qi really take that long? Or were you taking advantage of her?”

Although Qingying was being playful, Chen Yin shook his head seriously.

“…It’s strange. How could a beginner’s dantian hold so much spiritual energy?”

    “How much?”

“Almost as much as an Entering Gate Realm cultivator.”

“Entering Gate?” Qingying’s eyes widened in surprise. “But she just opened her meridians this week!”

    Chen Yin didn’t answer.

He was starting to think he had underestimated the Grand Witch’s request.

…This was a level of talent he had never seen before.

The more spiritual energy a dantian could hold, the stronger the foundation.

With such talent, Lian’er would be a treasure in any sect, someone to be cherished and protected.

The Grand Witch must have known about Lian’er’s talent. The Wu Xuan Cave wouldn’t overlook someone like her.

But she had still sent her to him, not even allowing her to learn their own sect’s techniques.

Chen Yin didn’t understand her intentions.

But it was none of his business.

He and the Grand Witch had a deal.

He would teach Lian’er how to cultivate, and she would help him save Ye Ling’er.

There was no need for him to overthink it.

  • After I Abandoned the Protagonist [Quick Transmigration] 227

Chapter 227: So I’m the Protagonist After All (23)

Sui Yihuan recalled the plate of green rice balls from the fishing village six months ago. Her gaze drifted for a moment, and her voice wavered slightly as she replied, “Delicious.”

    That’s what she said.

But Su Mingxiu had already seen the real answer in her expression. Back then, with Su Mingxiu by her side every day, she rarely had time alone. It was already difficult enough to convince the demons to trust her and cooperate with such a plan. During such a tense time, how could she have the time to sit down and leisurely enjoy food?

So she wasn’t annoyed, but simply touched her spatial bag and, as if by magic, took out another plate of green rice balls.

Because they were stored in a time-frozen space, the green rice balls still looked like they had just been taken out of the steamer, emitting heat and a unique aroma of seafood and mugwort leaves.

Sui Yihuan blinked. This time, before she could speak, she understood what Su Mingxiu meant. Resignedly, she took one, brought it to her pale lips, and took a bite—

A rich aroma burst on her tongue, the flowing juice even slightly hot, making the corners of her eyes redden for a moment.

But it wasn’t because the food was too hot, but because the taste… was exactly the same as she remembered.

She chewed much slower, as if savoring something. When she came back to her senses, she had already finished the green rice ball in her hand, but she had regained her composure.

The black-clad Venerable already knew the answer. Her voice was soft, like a breeze in the mountains, easily missed if one wasn’t paying attention, “You went to Qiangshan Sect.”

Qiangshan Sect, more than the sect that raised her, was like the home that nurtured her. It held all her relatives, even though there were few friends who accompanied her growth, but it was all the warmth of her first half of life.

“There were some things I originally planned to do when we went back together. But those tragic scenes exposed under the sunlight… I couldn’t bear to see your relatives waiting for you under the scorching sun, so I took the liberty of collecting their belongings… Fortunately, your Sui family ancestral hall was not affected, so I also made spirit tablets for them.”

“If you don’t like what I did, you can go there yourself—”

“No need.” Sui Yihuan responded quickly. A deep pain flashed through her crimson eyes when the matter was first mentioned, but she quickly suppressed those emotions.

Her voice was too cold and hard. After a moment, she realized that her attitude might be misunderstood by Su Mingxiu, so she reluctantly adjusted her tone and said again, “No need, you did very well.”

There was nothing she could change.

After all, that was the original sin she still couldn’t face.

“I investigated the traces in the sect during that half year, trying to restore some of the truth… Perhaps you shouldn’t think of yourself as so unbearable. Before some tragedies happen, you’ve already fought against them thousands of times, it’s just that the enemy was too evil… But that’s not your fault.” Su Mingxiu rarely used such a gentle tone to comfort someone, so it inevitably sounded a little awkward.

But the listener already understood what she wanted to express. However, as always, she came to a different conclusion, “I know.”

Sui Yihuan had already learned the whole truth about Qiangshan Sect from the Heavenly Demon. Even this blood curse that could control others was an ability she had personally taken from the Heavenly Demon. How could she not understand?

Back then, the Heavenly Demon, at the cost of her body, had luckily passed through the formation separating the Demon Abyss and the nine continents. She happened to find an unlucky disciple of Qiangshan Sect to possess, and then returned to the sect. Seeing her as a child, she felt that she had good talent and was very suitable to be transformed into a human demon. So she spent a lot of time carving a formation underground at Qiangshan Sect—

Starting from the age of four, Sui Yihuan was affected by this formation every night. The blood energy contained in the formations was all the negative energy collected by the Heavenly Demon, amplified by the demon bloodline. No mortal could resist it.

Even later, when Sui Yihuan was controlled and carried out the mission to destroy Qiangshan Sect, she resisted again and again, leaving traces of resistance on every wall and every brick in the courtyard…

    But what was the use?

She thought, could this forgive her sins? Could this make her pretend that she hadn’t done those unforgivable things of killing her father and mother?

    No.

She would never be able to forgive herself, and she would never forgive herself.

She had gazed into the Demon Abyss for too long, and she would eventually become a part of this dark world. She had long since realized this.

So she wouldn’t suffer for too long for the sins she couldn’t atone for, because soon, everything would be over.

Su Mingxiu looked at her for a long time, then raised her hand and pulled her into her arms, “Why do you always want to bear everything alone? What do I have to do to change this bad habit of yours… How can I make you understand that no matter what path you choose, whether it’s atonement or going to hell, I can accompany you.”

This time, Sui Yihuan didn’t push her away, but just said calmly, “We are not the same kind of people. You don’t have to do this for me.”

    She always felt this way.

Su Mingxiu was clean and pure, like the moon. The bright moon could illuminate the mortal world, could briefly rest in the flower fields at night, and could overlook the mountains and rivers of the nine continents… But it shouldn’t come to this Demon Abyss, because this was a place abandoned even by sunlight.

Sui Yihuan’s sins, intertwined with the Demon Abyss, were too many. She could never return to the sunlight, so she shouldn’t yearn to embrace these pure and clean existences.

    “Originally, we really weren’t—”

Su Mingxiu thought of her previous life, the previous life where she knew nothing. Because she had never looked at this person for too long, she couldn’t see that fiery heart at all, only focusing on fighting against her predetermined fate.

But now she knew that when she walked through the swamp, there was a reflection accompanying her in the mud. Even in the end, that shadow, who had never spoken her heart to her, had given everything for her life, not even leaving behind the chance to turn into bubbles under the sunlight.

“But there was a fool who, time and time again, tied me with her red string. Now I’m tightly bound by her, and I can no longer see any other path except the one she wants to take.”

The last time she came to this Black Stone Dock, Su Mingxiu really felt that she wasn’t familiar with this Demon Lord. And she was very puzzled, not knowing why the other person would keep her here, but in a strange protective manner. Later, when she asked, the other person’s casual words were similar to this time, “You look a lot like an old friend of mine.”

At that time, Su Mingxiu was thinking, what was this?

A mortal emperor and a caged canary?

Later, her plan was destined to leave Black Stone Dock, so Su Mingxiu chose a day when the other person was very weak, broke free from Sui Yihuan’s control, injured her, and told her not to have such cowardly dreams before leaving.

What did Sui Yihuan from the previous life say? This pale person clutched her chest, clearly vomiting blood, but the smile on her lips was strange and enchanting, with a regret that Su Mingxiu at that time couldn’t understand, “If only I could really have such a dream.”

If she were really a mortal emperor, holding the power of life and death, able to keep the person she liked by her side openly, how wonderful would that be?

Unfortunately, she could only disappear without a trace in the depths of this Demon Abyss, unable to see a single ray of golden sunlight before her death.

And Su Mingxiu, after all, had to return to that bright and beautiful world.

“What are you talking about?” Sui Yihuan guiltily withdrew the blood threads she had used to control her, “Who tied you with a red string?”

    Su Mingxiu didn’t answer.

She just sighed softly, pulled Sui Yihuan into her arms again, not allowing her to struggle anymore, “Just lie down with me for a while, and I’ll tell you what was planted inside me.”

These words finally made the person, who had felt deceived for a long time and was about to leave the bed regardless of everything, willingly stay.

Su Mingxiu touched her fingertips and felt that her body temperature was too low and too cold, so she put her hand inside her clothes and took the initiative to warm her hands.

    “You!”

Sui Yihuan’s cheeks suddenly reddened. She wanted to pull her hand out, but didn’t dare to. In the end, she could only glare at the person who had closed her eyes and let out a low growl.

“Shh.” Su Mingxiu reached out her other hand and pressed it against her lips, not letting her speak, “I’m sleepy, I want to sleep.”

    Don’t lie to me.

Sui Yihuan thought that with her ability to change her cultivation at will, it would be strange if she really needed sleep like a low-level cultivator.

But thinking that there was still something unknown in Su Mingxiu’s body, she could only half-heartedly accompany her to rest.

There was no distinction between day and night in the Demon Abyss. All time was judged by the sound of the demon stone clock striking at the top of the tower.

When the tower made its sixth sound, Su Mingxiu opened her eyes, looked at the person who hadn’t slept all night and whose attention was all on her, and couldn’t help but smile, “Your eyes, why do they look so much like a rabbit’s? Could it be that you haven’t slept for too many nights and they’re bloodshot from staying up?”

Sui Yihuan ignored her teasing and said stubbornly, “You said you would tell me the answer.”

“Why are you so persistent?” Su Mingxiu’s smile widened. She leaned closer and kissed her by the eye, then continued to talk to herself, “But it’s good to be persistent, loyal, a little foolish. Once you like someone, you won’t change.”

“Uh…” Just as the Demon Lord couldn’t stand it anymore and was about to retort, Su Mingxiu unhurriedly pulled away a little, “No rush. I’ve been in the Demon Abyss for so long, and I haven’t seen any scenery, I don’t even know what the specialties are. Aren’t you going to do your duty as a host and take me out for a stroll?”

Sui Yihuan had taken her out in her previous life, because she was afraid that she would be bored and depressed staying in the room for too long. But at that time, Su Mingxiu’s mind wasn’t on it, so naturally she wasn’t interested in appreciating the unique demonic culture of the Demon Abyss.

    It was different now—

She took the initiative to request a shopping trip.

But Sui Yihuan, who had been teased by her repeatedly, was angry. The coldness in her tone was palpable, “Su Mingxiu! Do you really think I can’t do anything to you?”

“Don’t be angry.” Seeing her impatience, Su Mingxiu missed the proud little phoenix from the Hundred Flower Sect who would stand up for her and blush easily with a little teasing.

Of course, the current Demon Lord was also very good. Anyway, it was the person she liked, so anything was fine—the green-clothed cultivator leaned closer, touched the cold-faced Demon Lord’s cheek with the tip of her nose, and said with a smile, “You’re hiding so many things from me, and I only have this one. Of course, I have to use this important bargaining chip repeatedly. I swear, I’ll tell you the answer after we come back from shopping, okay?”

Sui Yihuan warned her pointedly, “Last time.”

Since the Demon Lord planned to take someone out, she naturally made all the arrangements subconsciously. Even though her face was darker than the freshly dug demon stone mine when she was making the plans, but after taking Su Mingxiu out, she took her to the most prosperous and lively places in Black Stone City.

And there were groups of demonesses and demon servants around them, as if afraid that the occasion was not grand enough and Su Mingxiu would be bullied in some corner.

Seeing the low-level demons walking by bowing their heads and avoiding them, and the City Lord of Black Stone City coming over with a smiling face to welcome them, the demonic beast meat served was of the highest quality, various spices smuggled from the nine continents were sprinkled lavishly, and the selected spiritual plants were fresh and free of any toxins.

Su Mingxiu accepted everything, stuffed them into her spatial bag, didn’t respond to the City Lord’s inquisitive gaze, and wasn’t ashamed of her packing behavior at all. She turned to Sui Yihuan and said, “I’ve finished shopping here, I want to go somewhere else.”

“Where do you want to go?”

The Demon Lord didn’t care about the gossiping and inquisitive gazes of her subordinates, but just seriously asked the cultivator beside her, whose clothing style and aura were different from the demons.

Since she didn’t plan to follow the path of her previous life, Su Mingxiu could only rely on her fragmented memories, leading the group around in circles, towards the outskirts of Black Stone City.

After wandering around for most of the afternoon, Sui Yihuan, after finally confirming her destination, asked with a strange expression, “You want to go to the slums where the low-level demons live?”

    “Yes.”

Su Mingxiu glanced at the endless guards behind her and asked her to dismiss them.

Sui Yihuan’s expression changed again and again, but she still dismissed them. Then she followed Su Mingxiu on the somewhat bumpy road in front of them, her gaze fixed on her clean boots, “The road here hasn’t been repaired yet, what are you doing here?”

Although it was a slum, there were traces of recent repairs on the low-rise houses, and there was no garbage on the road. Only by going to the poorest part of a city could one see its bottom line.

In her previous life, Su Mingxiu was blinded. Only by walking this road again in this life could she feel that Sui Yihuan from the past… had wanted her acknowledgment.

It’s just that she missed it.

Su Mingxiu thought for a moment, cast a simple illusion spell to hide their appearances and clothes, and walked on this bumpy road for a long time.

Until the low-level demons in the slums sensed that the important figures had left, and the children looked around curiously.

She simply sat down in the middle of the road, took out an ordinary cloth from her spatial bag and spread it on the ground, and then took out all the food she had packed from the City Lord. The tempting aroma instantly filled the long street. The demons, who were always hungry, had never experienced such torture, and every household poked their heads out.

Finally, a small, dark child with goat horns on his head couldn’t bear the hunger anymore and stumbled towards her, “You… are you buying demons? I’m very cheap, I can just eat a small piece of meat… you can also use me for alchemy.”

In their understanding, it seemed that only by sacrificing their lives and souls could they deserve to eat such a mouthful of meat before they died. Spiritual plants were even more precious, and they didn’t even dare to look at the glistening light.

Su Mingxiu looked at the child for a long time, cut a small piece of meat and gave him a small bowl of soup. “You must be very hungry. You can’t eat too much, so just have a little something to fill your stomach. Come back later, and I’ll give you more.”

The little demon was overjoyed. Even though this small amount wasn’t enough to fill his stomach, he ate it all, licking the bowl clean.

The other demon children around him saw that he hadn’t died after a long time and seemed to realize that this wasn’t some important figure testing poison, but a real transaction. So they also swarmed out of their houses.

Each of them tried their best to sell themselves.

Su Mingxiu patiently had them line up and then gave each of them a bowl of soup and meat, distributing a lot of food according to the growth of the different demons, roughly comparing them to human children.

When they were all looking at her expectantly, waiting for her instructions, she smiled and waved her hand, “Alright, the food is all gone. You can all go home now. If I have time next time, I’ll come again.”

The little demons who were ready to be taken away: “?!”

What did she mean? Was this some new delayed-action poison experiment?

Sui Yihuan saw that their expressions were not quite right, so she explained for Su Mingxiu and casually demonstrated her power, proving that if she really wanted to do anything to them, she would have done it long ago.

The children in the slums finally understood that there really was free food in the Demon Abyss.

When Su Mingxiu stepped out of this dark place, she seemed to be able to feel the eager gazes of the little demons behind her, and her mood suddenly improved.

“Why did you want to come here?”

Sui Yihuan, who had been patiently and quietly accompanying her for a long time, finally asked this question.

“Because someone once wanted me to see it.” Su Mingxiu remembered that in her previous life, she was so impatient that she bumped into a little demon on the road, and that child was also among them today.

At that time, it was the aroma of the mortal food on her that attracted him. Sui Yihuan was afraid that she would hurt the little demon, so she raised her hand and wanted to pull him away.

But later, Su Mingxiu left the food behind. Facing the Demon Lord’s gaze, she casually explained, “I quite like little ones, you don’t have to be so wary of me.”

Sui Yihuan’s gaze was very strange at that time.

But after experiencing a certain “goddaughter” scenario, Su Mingxiu was very sure of the impact her words had on the other person.

However, the person who wanted to compensate her with a child probably wouldn’t have thought that the mother-daughter relationship she compensated her with would eventually change, right?

Thinking of this, she smiled a little exaggeratedly, successfully making the lord beside her unable to look away, “What are you smiling about?”

    “Smiling at you—”

“You’re truly the biggest fool in the nine continents.” How could there be such a person in the nine continents? She hadn’t received much in the first half of her life, but she repaid the kindness she received to this world to the greatest extent. No, it wasn’t just to the nine continents, to the Demon Abyss, but also to her. Even being smashed to pieces wasn’t enough to describe this person’s devotion.

The world kissed her with pain, but she repaid it with a song.

“Are you scolding me?” Sui Yihuan had heard her call her a “fool” many times. This time, she decided not to tolerate it anymore. She opened her palm, about to reveal those red threads and make Su Mingxiu rephrase her words.

But at the end of the long street, in the part of the slums that couldn’t be illuminated by the weak light of the black stone lamps, the green-clothed cultivator leaned over in the darkness, embraced the other person, and transmitted warmth to her.

“I’m not scolding you, I’m scolding the Heavenly Dao.”

“It’s truly blind, it doesn’t know how to choose a savior at all.” Su Mingxiu was thinking, how selfish she was, she could never dedicate her life to any force, and was destined to live alone.

But Sui Yihuan was different. This was a person who, no matter what her situation, even if she fell into the abyss, would use her last bit of strength to push the person who fell in with her out before turning into bones.

Su Mingxiu couldn’t find anyone better than her. She even felt that the luckiest thing in her two lifetimes was receiving this person’s love.

“Are you trying to distract me again and not tell me the answer?”

Sui Yihuan didn’t understand what she meant. She let her hold her and asked stubbornly.

“Sui Yihuan, I love you. I want to live in a world with you.”

The Demon Lord, being held: “!”

She thought, this woman was too hateful, she was so good at changing the subject.

She couldn’t say those pressing questions, couldn’t make those forcing actions, she could only be held by the other person like a piece of wood.

Hearing that gentle voice, more effective than any gu in the nine continents, tempting her by her ear, “Let me walk the rest of the road with you, okay?”
