Chapter 48: Luo Qiaoqiao’s Mother
At least one thing Master said was true.
When cultivated to its peak, the “Forgotten Everlasting Heart Sutra” could indeed grant near immortality.
Although Master’s injuries were severe, with proper rest, she would fully recover within ten days to half a month.
Chen Yin wasn’t worried about her recovery. He was worried about the person who had inflicted such injuries upon her.
…And even more worried about the things Master was hiding from him.
“If you can stay peacefully on Mount Yu for the next six months to a year, I won’t press you about this matter.”
Chen Yin said softly, “I’ll try to finish what I’m doing as soon as possible and return to Mount Yu to take care of you.”
“Hah.”
Master giggled. “You brat, you can’t even take care of yourself, and you want to take care of me?”
“Heh? You have the nerve to say that? If I weren’t cleaning up your messes and dealing with your creditors every day, Mount Yu would have been burned down by now.”
Chen Yin retorted playfully.
Master and disciple resumed their usual banter, teasing and bickering with each other.
After a while, Master’s gaze inadvertently fell upon the sword in Chen Yin’s hand.
“This sword…”
Chen Yin quickly hid the sword behind his back and said nonchalantly, “Wh-what about it? I bought it at the Ten Thousand Fragrance Pavilion.”
“Don’t lie to me.”
Master scoffed. “Do you think I’m blind? Or do you think I wouldn’t know if you stole something from my treasure vault?”
Chen Yin could only chuckle awkwardly.
“The Eternal Light sword…” For some reason, a distant look appeared in Master’s eyes.
“What’s wrong? Is this sword some ancient artifact that has chosen me as its master?”
“Read fewer novels, it’s good for your brain.” Master sneered.
“There’s nothing special about this sword. If anything, it’s just a bit tougher than usual. But besides its durability, it has no other advantages.”
She flicked the sword lightly with her tiny finger and chuckled. “In the end, it’s just a piece of scrap metal.”
“…At least for now.” Her gaze lowered.
Chen Yin examined the sword carefully. “Really?”
“Well, as long as it’s tough enough. I need a sword that won’t break easily, and this one feels good in my hand.”
“…That sounds a bit strange.”
“That’s because you’re looking at everything through your perverted lens.”
After regulating her breathing, Master stretched lazily and asked curiously, “So where are we? Where did you take me?”
“Just an abandoned hut at the foot of Ten Thousand Cloud Mountain.”
“Hey… speaking of which, you didn’t do anything to my body while I was unconscious, did you?” She suddenly asked, her arms crossed protectively in front of her chest.
Chen Yin said seriously, “Of course I did. I held your small, fragrant body and kissed you all over.”
“Ugh! That’s disgusting! You lolicon! Go die!”
“…You don’t have to be so harsh.”
Master waved her hand dismissively. “Forget it, consider it a dog bite.”
“I’m going back to the mountain. You should focus on your own tasks.”
Chen Yin nodded, then said hesitantly, “Master…”
“Hmm?”
“…Don’t make me worry so much.”
Master glanced at him sideways and smiled silently.
“Alright, you brat.”
She twirled gracefully, her wide robe swirling around her, her hair flying in the air. Even her footsteps seemed lighter.
The next moment, she vanished without a trace.
***
In the early morning mist of the bamboo forest, Chen Yin left the abandoned hut after Master’s departure.
He had already left the Heavenly Path Perilous Domain and was now at the foot of Ten Thousand Cloud Mountain, not far from Fragrance City. It was only half a day’s journey.
As he walked through the bamboo forest, he heard rustling sounds.
A large group of cultivators was approaching. They were wearing the robes of the Heavenly Net Sect.
Chen Yin didn’t bother hiding. He didn’t think the Heavenly Net Sect would be hostile towards him.
But as soon as the cultivators saw him, the Heavenly Net Sect disciples became incredibly nervous. They drew their weapons and whispered among themselves, “Quick! Send a message to Senior Sister! We found Chen Yin!”
Chen Yin frowned slightly.
“Everyone, I don’t think there’s that much animosity between me and the Heavenly Net Sect, is there?”
“H-how dare you say that?! Our Senior Sister was worried about your safety and sent disciples to search for you. And you, you ungrateful wretch, killed them all!”
Chen Yin finally understood.
…So he was being blamed for the masked man in black’s actions.
The ultimate scapegoat.
“I think there’s been a misunderstanding.” Chen Yin explained helplessly. “I didn’t kill those people. And why would I kill fellow cultivators from the Heavenly Net Sect?”
“Call your Senior Sister. I’ll explain everything to her face to face.”
The Heavenly Net Sect disciples, although nervously eyeing him, didn’t dare to attack. They simply stood there, their weapons drawn.
Chen Yin could only wait patiently.
Fortunately, he didn’t have to wait long. After about half an hour, he heard a commotion in the distance. He looked up and saw a large group of Heavenly Net Sect disciples escorting a luxurious palanquin towards him.
The disciples surrounding Chen Yin sheathed their weapons and stepped aside respectfully.
…Strange. Did Luo Qiaoqiao have such a grand entrance last time? Chen Yin wondered.
The palanquin stopped gracefully among the bamboo trees, and a disciple immediately stepped forward and lifted the curtain.
However, it wasn’t Luo Qiaoqiao who emerged.
It was a beautiful woman who resembled Luo Qiaoqiao, her features stunningly beautiful, her elegant demeanor and bearing radiating through her luxurious attire and jewelry.
Her mere presence seemed to dim the surrounding world, as if she had absorbed all its colors.
Chen Yin wasn’t stupid. Seeing the respectful attitude of those around her, he immediately understood her identity and bowed deeply.
“Junior Chen Yin of Mount Yu, greetings to the Vice Sect Master of the Heavenly Net Sect.”
…There was only one woman in the entire Heavenly Net Sect who deserved such respect.
The dignified and elegant woman before him was clearly one of the renowned Heavenly Net Couple, the Vice Sect Master of the Heavenly Net Sect, and Luo Qiaoqiao’s mother.
Mu Susu.
She looked Chen Yin up and down with a playful glint in her eyes, her voice carrying a mesmerizing charm.
“You… are Chen Yin?”
“It is I, this junior.” Chen Yin maintained a respectful demeanor.
“Not bad. Your manners are impeccable. But for today’s matter, good manners aren’t enough.”
Mu Susu raised her chin slightly, her tone hardening. “You will have to answer for the deaths of so many disciples from the Heavenly Net Sect.”
“If your explanation is satisfactory, we wouldn’t mind becoming friends. But if it isn’t…”
Her voice took on a chilling edge. “Don’t expect that silly girl Qiaoqiao to come to your rescue.”
“Because it’s quite easy for me, Mu Susu, to make someone disappear.”
