Chapter 188: A Question for a Question
Under the clear moonlight, the two men continued drinking.
Chen Yin kept probing for information about Shen Li, while the masked man remained mostly silent.
Finally, as if sensing Chen Yin’s intentions, the masked man said, “Are you that eager to learn about Shen Li?”
Chen Yin paused, realizing his attempts at subtlety had failed.
He nodded. “Yes.”
“You admit it so easily? Aren’t you afraid I’ll just leave?”
“I don’t think you’re that kind of person.”
“What kind of person?” the masked man asked.
Chen Yin thought for a moment. “Not like the other Shen Li members I’ve met.”
The masked man was silent for a while, then asked, “Do you hate Shen Li?”
“I need to know more about them before I can decide.” Chen Yin’s tone was carefully neutral, revealing neither hostility nor friendliness.
The masked man seemed to consider his words, then nodded slowly.
“I can answer some of your questions about Shen Li.”
“But I have three conditions.”
Chen Yin listened intently.
“First, it can’t be a one-sided conversation. I want to ask you questions in return.” The masked man looked at him intently. “A question for a question.”
“Agreed.”
“Second, you have to drink three jars of wine for every question you answer.”
Chen Yin raised an eyebrow. “That’s harsh. A gentleman enjoys wine in moderation. Why the need to guzzle it down like that?”
“It’s simple. Remember what I said before? It’s a sad thing when only one person is drunk during a drinking session.”
The masked man said seriously, “I want to see you drunk.”
Chen Yin was silent for a moment, then nodded.
“And the last condition?”
“My last condition…”
The masked man hesitated, then said, “Don’t engage in any intimate activities with women while we’re in the Wu Xuan Cave.”
Chen Yin frowned.
“Forgive my ignorance, but I understand the first two conditions.”
“But why can’t I be intimate with women?” He looked at him, puzzled.
The masked man seemed to hesitate, then finally mumbled, “…My former sweetheart ran off with a womanizer. Seeing you with your women… it’s unpleasant.”
“But you said you didn’t have a sweetheart.”
“I used to. Not anymore. Is that a problem?” The masked man’s voice held a hint of annoyance.
Chen Yin shrugged. “Fine. I agree.”
“Then I’ll start with my questions. Where is the Divine Son now?”
“The Divine Son never reveals his true form. He always appears as an avatar or a projection. His true body should be at Shen Li’s headquarters.”
Chen Yin was about to ask about the location of their headquarters, but seeing the masked man’s expectant gaze, he simply shrugged, picked up a jar of wine, and started drinking.
One jar. Two jars. Three jars.
After Chen Yin finished drinking, the masked man asked, “Are you planning to go after the Divine Son?”
Chen Yin hesitated, then decided to answer truthfully. He looked at the masked man calmly. “Yes.”
The masked man had expected this. He sighed softly.
“…The Divine Son is dangerous. I advise you not to go.”
“Why?” Chen Yin asked.
“He possesses a powerful Heavenly Dao Fragment that can absorb the abilities of other Fragments.”
The masked man explained, “Most Shen Li members have willingly given him their abilities, making him incredibly powerful.”
“And even if you manage to get past him, he has two powerful Divine Messenger guardians, also with powerful Heavenly Dao Fragments. They might not have been absorbed by the Divine Son, but they’re still formidable opponents.”
He said seriously, “It’s not about cultivation level. The abilities granted by these Heavenly Dao Fragments are deadly to cultivators.”
Chen Yin nodded thoughtfully.
“Your turn to drink.”
Reminded by the masked man, Chen Yin realized he had answered a question.
But he didn’t mind. The information was worth the price.
He drank three more jars of wine quickly.
Six jars in total. Enough to knock out most people.
Chen Yin swayed slightly and hiccuped, a faint blush appearing on his cheeks.
“…Giving up?”
“Continue.” Chen Yin’s eyes, however, remained clear.
“You can ask your question now.”
The masked man hesitated, then asked awkwardly, “Which of your women… do you like the most?”
Chen Yin blinked.
“Aren’t you going to ask about Shen Li?”
“I can ask whatever I want.” The masked man snorted.
Chen Yin thought for a long time. This question was difficult to answer.
Finally, he sighed. “I like them all equally.”
“I can’t rank them. If I wasn’t serious about them, I wouldn’t have pursued them in the first place.”
The masked man frowned and scoffed.
“Just admit you’re a scumbag. No need to make excuses.”
Chen Yin shrugged, unfazed. He didn’t mind the masked man’s disapproval of his personal life.
“Any more questions?”
“Of course.” Chen Yin drank three more jars of wine, then wiped his mouth and asked, his eyes gleaming, “Where is Shen Li’s headquarters?”
To his surprise, the masked man answered honestly, “I don’t know.”
“I have to recruit the Grand Witch before I become an official Divine Messenger and gain access to the headquarters.”
Chen Yin nodded in understanding.
This masked man was just a new recruit, still on probation.
“My turn. How many women do you have?”
“You seem very interested in my personal life.”
Chen Yin said with a grin.
“If you don’t want to answer, we can end this now.” The masked man’s voice was impatient.
“Technically, four.”
The masked man fell silent.
Chen Yin drank three more jars. Almost all the empty jars on the hilltop were his.
He was drinking at a dangerous pace.
In the masked man’s eyes, Chen Yin was swaying slightly, his cheeks flushed, clearly intoxicated.
He suddenly looked very satisfied.
Seeing Chen Yin drunk seemed to be his greatest accomplishment tonight.
“Do you want to continue?”
“I still have three jars worth of questions.”
Chen Yin hiccuped, his eyes fixed on the masked man.
The masked man leaned forward, his head propped up with his hand, his voice filled with a playful curiosity.
“Then you can answer my question first.”
“Is this your first time being drunk? How does it feel?”
Chen Yin didn’t know how to answer.
If they were only talking about this world, then yes, it was his first time.
Finally, he forced a smile and chuckled.
“Drinking with a kindred spirit… Exhilarating. Truly exhilarating.”
