Chapter 102: Plot Twist!
Chen Yin hadn’t been slow to react.
Although he knew that with Qingying and Luo Luo’s abilities, they could easily escape even if Ju Canghe came after them, he was still worried and rushed to Yanxia Province immediately after parting with Shen Shuanglian.
As he approached, he suddenly felt a surge of danger through their master-servant contract.
He knew Luo Luo was in trouble.
He increased his speed and rushed back to the Xiaoxiang Medical Clinic, only to find Luo Luo and the others, but no sign of Qingying.
He immediately went after her, finally arriving just in time.
“You almost got us killed with your reckless actions, you know.”
Faced with Qingying’s blunt reprimand, Chen Yin could only chuckle helplessly. “You’d be quite a beauty if you weren’t so aggressive.”
“Such a pretty girl. It’s a pity you have a mouth.”
Qingying snorted and turned her head away, her lips pursed.
“Can you handle this guy?”
“Of course. But before that,” Chen Yin shrugged.
“I have a few questions for him.”
He turned to Kuli.
“Did that old dog Ju Canghe send you?”
Kuli didn’t answer.
“You don’t seem like a disciple of the Canghe Sword Sect. Who are you?”
He still remained silent.
Chen Yin was puzzled. Was this guy mute?
“Hey, say something!”
Kuli was silent for a long time, then took a deep breath.
“…Well,”
“I think there’s been a misunderstanding.”
His words stunned both Chen Yin and Qingying.
Huh?
What was going on?
Wasn’t this guy just acting all aggressive and bloodthirsty?
Why the sudden change of heart?
Unbeknownst to them, Kuli’s back was drenched in cold sweat.
…He had finally remembered why the name Chen Yin sounded so familiar.
Wasn’t that the name of the man who had barged into the demonic sect’s main altar a month ago and single-handedly severed the Dao Master’s arm?
Kuli was both lucky and unlucky. He hadn’t been at the main altar when it happened. He had gotten into a conflict with the Canghe Sword Sect in Yanxia Province and had been captured by Ju Canghe, imprisoned within their sect.
Normally, Ju Canghe would have used him as a hostage to extort something from the demonic path and then have him ransomed back.
But while Kuli was waiting to be ransomed, an elder from the Canghe Sword Sect had suddenly informed him that he didn’t have to return to the demonic path anymore.
The demonic path had gone into hiding. And their Dao Master had lost an arm during the Nether Ritual.
Kuli was dumbfounded. How could his house catch fire just two days after he left?
The elder had only told him that the attacker was a sword cultivator from the Mist Spirit Sect, named Chen something. He hadn’t remembered the full name, thinking he would never cross paths with that person.
But he never imagined that he would run into him so soon after leaving the Canghe Sword Sect.
“Uh, Fellow Daoist Chen…”
Kuli said with a forced smile, “I think there’s been a misunderstanding. There’s no need for violence.”
Chen Yin scratched his head, puzzled. “Do you know me?”
“Of course, Fellow Daoist Chen. I’m a member of the demonic path.”
Chen Yin suddenly understood.
“Oh, you’re from the demonic path. That’s why you know me.”
“Why would someone from the demonic path know you?” Qingying asked curiously. “What exactly did you do when you went back there?”
“Nothing much.”
Chen Yin said casually, “I just kidnapped their Holy Maiden and chopped off their Dao Master’s arm.”
Qingying: “…”
“Since you know who I am, that makes things easier.”
Chen Yin sat down and asked casually, “Why is a demonic cultivator like you working for the Canghe Sword Sect?”
“Ahem… It’s a bit embarrassing. I was captured by the Sect Master of the Canghe Sword Sect. I have to do some dirty work for them before they’ll let me go.”
Chen Yin quickly understood.
A powerful Supreme Clarity Realm expert who could be blamed for any dirty work was a valuable asset.
“That cunning old fox.” Chen Yin couldn’t help but marvel.
Kuli looked at him pleadingly. “Fellow Daoist Chen, this is all a misunderstanding. Please be magnanimous and let it go.”
“Let it go? Nice try.”
Chen Yin said bluntly, “Since you’ve offended me, I can’t let you off without some punishment.”
Kuli could only lower his head and force a smile. After all, he couldn’t afford to offend someone who could casually sever the Dao Master’s arm.
“Let me think… How about this. You go back and deliver a message to Ju Canghe for me.”
“Tell him that if he bothers me again, I’ll castrate his son.” He said with a mischievous grin.
Kuli readily agreed, chuckled nervously, and then fled.
After he left, Qingying crossed her arms and said calmly, “You’re full of surprises.”
“Is he telling the truth? Did you really sever the Dao Master’s arm when you went back to the demonic sect’s main altar?”
Chen Yin shrugged. “Believe what you want.”
Qingying frowned but didn’t say anything.
“But thank you for tonight. Honestly, I was worried you would abandon Luo Luo and the others and run away.”
“Do I look like that kind of person?” Qingying glanced at him sideways. “Besides, Luo Luo and the others can hide in the void. They don’t need my help.”
“I intervened… because of Nan Xiaoxiang.”
Nan Xiaoxiang? Chen Yin blinked.
“Why did you save her?”
“I thought you would want me to.”
Qingying looked at him seriously. “I thought you two were involved.”
“…You’re overthinking it.”
Chen Yin waved his hand dismissively. “I’m not close to her. Not at all.”
“That woman might seem pure and innocent on the surface, but who knows what she’s like behind closed doors. I don’t have time for that kind of person.”
“Heh, as if you haven’t messed around with enough women already.” Qingying scoffed.
“I have standards, okay?”
Chen Yin said seriously, “If I were truly desperate, I would have gone after you first, a beauty with long legs and ample bosom.”
“You, Qingying, also have a pretty face and a nice figure. And as an assassin, you must have very toned legs from all that training.”
Qingying glared at him, her teeth gritted.
“Shameless!”
Chen Yin burst into laughter. Teasing Qingying was truly a delightful pastime.
“Let’s go. Let’s see how Luo Luo and the others are doing.”
Back at the Canghe Sword Sect…
“…I’ve delivered your message.”
Kuli said casually, “Whether he listens or not is your own business.”
“Anyway, don’t come to me with any more matters related to that guy. I’m not getting involved.”
Ignoring Ju Canghe’s darkened expression, he turned and left the study.
Ju Canghe’s face changed colors several times. Beside him, Ju Shaohé gritted his teeth and said:
“Who the hell is this Chen Yin? Even Kuli, a fearless demonic cultivator, is afraid of him?”
Ju Canghe didn’t answer, his expression dark and unreadable.
A while later, a disciple rushed in and reported, “Sect Master, we’ve found some information.”
“This Chen Yin is from Mount Yu, a branch of the Mist Spirit Sect. He’s a disciple of Immortal Yu Ling.”
Immortal Yu Ling? Ju Canghe’s expression changed again.
Ju Shaohé, however, asked indignantly, “So what if he’s Immortal Yu Ling’s disciple?”
“…You don’t understand.”
Ju Canghe’s eyes flickered for a long time before he finally sighed deeply.
“We can afford to lose anyone in the cultivation world.”
“Except for Immortal Yu Ling.”
Ju Shaohé looked at him with confusion.
“You’ll understand when you reach the Grand Clarity Realm.”
Ju Canghe waved his hand dismissively. “Let this matter go. Don’t mention it again.”
“Father!”
“You fool!” Ju Canghe roared. “Haven’t you caused enough trouble already?”
“Do you think the Mist Spirit Sect, once so powerful, was destroyed overnight for no reason? Reduced to such a pathetic state?”
“It’s because that old fool Wu Xun offended Immortal Yu Ling!”
“Do you think our Canghe Sword Sect is any stronger than the Mist Spirit Sect?”
Ju Shaohé didn’t dare to speak anymore and could only shrink back, his head lowered.
Seeing his dejected demeanor, Ju Canghe’s tone softened slightly.
“Shaohé, you’re still young.”
“One day, when you reach my level and have seen more of the world, you’ll understand.”
Ju Shaohé wanted to ask why his father was so afraid of Immortal Yu Ling, but seeing his expression, he didn’t dare to speak. He could only sulk silently.
Back at the Xiaoxiang Medical Clinic, seeing that Luo Luo and the others were safe and sound, Chen Yin didn’t disturb them and let them rest.
He went to Nan Xiaoxiang’s room.
As expected, the candlelight was still flickering inside. She was still awake.
“You’re still alive?” Nan Xiaoxiang’s voice came from inside, cold and indifferent.
“You were hoping I’d be dead?” Chen Yin said helplessly.
“If your death could spare our clinic from further trouble, then please do us a favor and kill yourself. I’ll thank you on behalf of everyone here.”
Despite the sarcasm in her voice, Chen Yin ignored it and sat down on her windowsill.
“…You’re fine, aren’t you? Why are you so angry?”
“If I weren’t, Young Master Chen, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”
Chen Yin shrugged. “That would be a pity.”
“A pity about what?”
“A pity that you haven’t experienced the pleasures of a man yet. It would be a shame to die without knowing what you’re missing.”
“How about…” he asked tentatively, “I sacrifice myself and give you a taste?”
Nan Xiaoxiang finally stopped writing and looked up at him, her eyes clear and bright. She said each word slowly and deliberately:
“I’d rather you just die.”
