Girl Doesn’t Die in Fairytale Town: Chapter 55 – Where the Silver Light Passes
“…Failure? What failure?” Luo Yan frowned slightly. “I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
But the Witch of Envy didn’t respond. The crimson monster’s pupils became frenzied again, its will dissipating.
It seemed the brief appearance of its will was solely to deliver that message.
The crimson monster resumed its restless movements, instinctively moving towards the strongest life force.
It ignored the petite Luo Yan. The last vestiges of its consciousness, after the Witch of Envy’s descent, were completely gone.
Now, the crimson monster was driven only by the malicious instinct to destroy all life.
“Miss Luo Yan—”
Hua Qiling’s voice continued to echo from the nearest broadcasting tower in District Two, urging Luo Yan to leave.
At the same time, an ancient, simple, icy coffin materialized in the sky above District Two, gradually solidifying.
Its dangerous aura made Luo Yan feel a life-threatening chill.
…This was a powerful weapon she couldn’t resist even with all her demonic power, far surpassing any power she had encountered before, even the crimson monster.
At Yan City headquarters, urgent commands were being relayed, procedures initiated at maximum speed.
“The ‘Ice Coffin’ has been retrieved from the ‘Wall of Resentment’!”
“The ‘Ice Coffin’ opening procedure is in progress! The ‘weapon’ is awakening!”
“Short-range spatial jump prepared!”
“Warning! Warning! Deploying ‘Ice Coffin Weapon’ in Yan City’s District Two! Confirm all personnel have evacuated to at least ten kilometers from the target location!”
“Confirmed.”
“Deployment commencing, ‘Ice Coffin’ transfer initiated.”
“The ‘Ice Coffin’ will arrive at the target location in thirty seconds. The ‘weapon’s’ activation time is limited to three minutes.”
“Thirty… twenty-nine…”
Hua Qiling listened to these commands, her heart pounding, but the broadcasting tower in District Two was already heavily corroded by the blood mist, her voice barely reaching through.
And the surveillance equipment on the tower could only see the giant crimson monster slowly moving, unable to find the silver-haired figure she was so worried about.
“Twenty… nineteen…”
Luo Yan calmed herself. She heard Hua Qiling’s calls, and combined with the sense of danger, she quickly understood.
Hua Qiling’s faction was about to deploy some kind of superweapon…
Thinking of this, Luo Yan didn’t hesitate and immediately ran towards the source of Hua Qiling’s voice.
However, broadcasting towers were usually located in the center of a district.
“Ten… nine…”
The crimson monster also seemed to sense the approaching danger. It looked up at the icy coffin and let out an ear-piercing shriek.
Countless fleshy tentacles erupted from the ground, reaching for the “Ice Coffin,” attempting to tear it apart.
“Three… two…”
At this critical moment, Hua Qiling finally saw Luo Yan, but her expression turned to horror.
Because Luo Yan was running towards the target location of the “Ice Coffin Weapon.”
Hua Qiling had overlooked one thing: Luo Yan, having always been in Ghost Town, didn’t know what a broadcasting tower was…
She simply wanted to get closer to Hua Qiling.
“The ‘Ice Coffin’ has been successfully deployed. The ‘weapon’ is fully awakened. Shutting down all power in the district, maintaining radio silence to prevent accidental damage.”
The final announcement came through the communicator, followed by silence and darkness.
Hua Qiling sat paralyzed, speechless.
A moment later, a violent roar came from outside. Hua Qiling turned numbly and looked towards District Two.
Amidst the blood mist, blinding silver flashes erupted in District Two. Buildings were neatly sliced and collapsed where the light passed.
Tremors shook the ground, and panic spread through Yan City.
Anyone who witnessed the deployment of the “Ice Coffin Weapon” could only feel a primal fear rising from within.
A frail, seemingly dying old man in Yan City looked up towards District Two.
A strange look appeared in his clouded eyes, a faint smile playing on his lips.
“As expected… you’ve returned here as well…”
…
Ice Coffin Weapon deployment location, District Two.
Luo Yan reached the broadcasting tower, but she couldn’t find Hua Qiling.
And at that moment, the “Ice Coffin Weapon” descended from the sky, an ancient, ornately carved, icy coffin crashing down on the crimson monster’s head.
The monster shrieked in pain and reached out with its grotesque tentacles, its massive, hideous body pressing down on the coffin, radiating intense mental waves.
“This is… a weapon?”
Just as Luo Yan felt puzzled, a weak, childish voice suddenly sounded.
“Cold… so cold…”
Although faint, the voice was strangely clear amidst the crimson monster’s roars.
Before Luo Yan’s eyes, the “Ice Coffin” slowly shattered, a small, bandaged arm reaching out from within, grasping frantically.
As the fragments of the “Ice Coffin” fell away, its contents were revealed.
…A little girl.
A little girl about the same age as Little Tini.
Her icy blue hair was disheveled, her entire body wrapped in gray bandages, only half of her face visible.
Even that half was covered in a thick layer of frost, and Luo Yan could only see one dazed, helpless eye.
The crimson monster shrieked and lashed out with its fleshy tentacles.
But before its tentacles could reach the bandaged girl, they abruptly snapped off.
Several tentacles fell to the ground, their severed ends perfectly clean, as if cut by an incredibly sharp blade.
But Luo Yan didn’t see any blade in the bandaged girl’s hand. She saw nothing, only vaguely sensing something shattering around them.
But she quickly realized what it was.
…Space.
The space around the bandaged girl was becoming distorted. At first, the change was imperceptible, but soon, the distortion intensified, emitting a silver light.
It was as if countless sharp blades were swirling in the air. Chunks of flesh were sliced off the crimson monster, and even its spiritual form was slowly being cut into pieces by the silver light.
The unbearable pain drove the crimson monster into a frenzy. More fleshy tentacles erupted from the ground, only to be instantly severed by the flashing silver light.
The silver light began to spread, becoming more and more frequent, engulfing all of District Two. Buildings collapsed, debris and dust flying everywhere.
The bandaged girl, the cause of all this, looked around blankly, her numbed mind seemingly unaware of her actions.
She simply murmured,
“So cold…”
