Miss Luo Yan’s Feet Are Buried With Corpses 3

Girl Doesn’t Die in Fairytale Town: Chapter 3 – The Intruder

Luo Yan quickly nodded in agreement. Messier seemed quite pleased with this, the crimson lines of her lips curving upwards slightly.

“It’s always a pleasure to talk with Miss Luo Yan—by the way, how is little Tini doing lately? Has her condition improved at all? I remember she refused to take the medicine I sent last time…”

Little Tini was Mrs. Natalie’s daughter, a little girl just over ten years old, suffering from a serious illness just like Luo Yan.

But her condition was more severe than Luo Yan’s. At least Luo Yan could manage her daily life, while little Tini spent most of her time in a drowsy state.

“Don’t worry, I’ll supervise her.”

Luo Yan replied verbally, but in her heart, she was thinking, I helped bury her portion too.

Little Tini was even more resistant to these medicines than Luo Yan, to the point of almost hiding when she smelled them.

“Then I’ll trouble Miss Luo Yan,” Messier stood up and walked ahead of Luo Yan, opening the door for her. “Be careful on your way. There are many mischievous children in town, and there are often ill-intentioned outsiders coming in. It’s quite dangerous.”

“Yes, I’ll be careful.”

Luo Yan expressed her thanks, then propped herself up with her cane, feeling her way out the door.

But just then, Messier seemed to remember something, slapping her forehead and exclaiming,

“I almost forgot, Miss Luo Yan, wait for me here a moment.”

With that, she hurried back into the clinic and returned shortly, holding a large red mass in her hands.

“This is meat the town butcher gave me. I can’t finish it all by myself. Take some back to nourish yourself.”

The bright red mass was suddenly thrust in front of Luo Yan, and a pungent, bloody smell instantly assaulted her senses.

But within it, there was a strange fragrance, faintly tempting Luo Yan to eat it.

Luo Yan quickly suppressed this inexplicable desire and discreetly took a few steps back.

“No, thank you, Dr. Messier. I don’t like eating meat…”

“Is that so?” Messier sighed and didn’t insist further. “Then I won’t force you. If you change your mind, just ask me for it.”

“Thank you for your kindness, Dr. Messier. I appreciate the offer.”

Luo Yan replied politely, then tapped her cane and slowly walked back towards the Natalie Manor along the way she came.

“Seeing Uncle Andre waving his cleaver around town chopping meat every day, how could I possibly have an appetite for it…”

Luo Yan muttered. She was, after all, a girl in her adolescence. Although her eyesight was poor, she could still be frightened a little.

It was a psychological barrier.

However…

Luo Yan frowned slightly, stopped, and looked around, a hint of confusion on her face.

“Why do I feel like my vision has recovered somewhat?”

Although her field of vision was still filled with thick fog and scribbles, at the edges and corners, she seemed to be able to see some fragmented, clear images.

“How strange…”

……

“The worst has happened, Director Hua.”

In Yan City, Hua Qiling solemnly took the observation report handed to her by her subordinate. Just glancing at it, her expression turned to shock.

“What… what’s going on?”

The report was very brief, containing only one sentence.

“‘Ghost Town’ has begun to assimilate and spread into the real world.”

“It’s only the third day! According to previous records, Ghost Town shouldn’t even have stabilized yet!”

Hua Qiling closed the report, her face full of astonishment and uncertainty.

In previously recorded archives, Ghost Town needed at least a month to stabilize. During this month, it wouldn’t exhibit strong aggression, at most only swallowing lifeforms that entered its range.

After a month, the stabilized Ghost Town would become a true “Ruin” level disaster.

Its area of influence would continuously expand, assimilating the surrounding area into its form of existence. At the same time, the town’s movement speed would increase, erasing everything in its path from reality.

The best-case scenario for mega-cities that experienced “Ghost Town” was the destruction of nearly a third of their area. Several mega-cities had been completely erased by “Ghost Town.”

Resolving every “Ruin” level disaster event came at a painful price.

“The anomaly in Ghost Town… could it be because of the mysterious girl who appeared in Ghost Town this time?”

Hua Qiling couldn’t help but recall the silver-haired girl she had seen on the surveillance footage. She strolled leisurely through the dilapidated town, seemingly out of place with her surroundings, so transcendent and ethereal.

For some reason, Hua Qiling felt a momentary trance, and then she suddenly saw the silver-haired girl stop and slowly raise her head.

In her mind, she quietly met her gaze.

The girl’s exquisite beauty was rare in the world. Even Miss Chris, known throughout the Free Federation as the “National Goddess,” paled in comparison.

Looking at her, Hua Qiling felt a sense of self-consciousness.

But soon, Hua Qiling had no time to dwell on these thoughts. Her mind was gradually drawn to a pair of pale red eyes.

The pale red eyes held no emotion, as tranquil and profound as the abyss, seemingly capable of containing all the souls in the world.

“…Director Hua? Director Hua! What’s wrong?”

Just as Hua Qiling was about to succumb to the gaze of the mysterious girl, the urgent calls of her subordinates brought her back to her senses.

“…Uh,” Hua Qiling woke up, gently rubbing her temples. The trance and stinging sensation that had suddenly appeared in her mind gradually subsided. “Sorry, I spaced out.”

“Director Hua needs to rest too. We’re taking turns monitoring here, so don’t worry.” Her subordinate expressed concern.

“Yes, I will.”

Hua Qiling also felt that her mental state seemed to be too poor. She had been the busiest in the entire Anomaly Investigation Bureau these past few days, unable to even spare a few minutes to close her eyes and rest.

“That silver-haired girl…”

Hua Qiling thought for a moment, then asked.

“The target hasn’t returned to the vicinity of her resting place. The monitoring equipment can’t see what’s happening elsewhere.”

The subordinate replied, then paused and asked, “Director Hua, do you think the unusual changes in Ghost Town this time are caused by her?”

“Perhaps.”

Hua Qiling said vaguely. She was a little afraid to recall the girl again.

“There’s no direct evidence linking her to it yet, but… there might be another possibility.”

The subordinate’s words suddenly became vague, their gaze evasive.

“What is it?”

Hua Qiling’s tone became more serious. She instinctively felt that something had gone wrong with their work.

The subordinate sighed and replied, “The Dawn cadre hiding in Yan City was found a while ago. The Investigation Department dispatched three ‘Calamity’ level ability users and one ‘Ruin’ level ability user, but she still managed to escape.”

The ranks of ability users were similar to disaster levels, but an ability user of a certain rank didn’t necessarily mean they could contend with a disaster of the same rank. Instead, it represented their qualification to participate in disaster events of that rank.

“What does the Investigation Department’s matter have to do with our Disaster Response Department?” Hua Qiling said casually, then seemed to realize something and suddenly looked at her subordinate. “Wait, I remember that Dawn cadre’s ability was short-range spatial jumps…”

“That’s right… she escaped into Ghost Town…”

The subordinate said faintly.
