Chapter Twenty-Seven
Bo Chi was startled by the scream, hesitated for a moment, and then walked towards the direction of the sound.
Outside the bathroom was a brown wooden corridor, and at the end of the corridor was a narrow and cramped staircase. The walls on both sides of the staircase were covered with dense portraits, filled with faces with different expressions.
Bo Chi walked among them, and whether it was a visual or psychological effect, she always felt that there were countless eyes around her, looking at her coldly or resentfully.
After walking down a flight of stairs, Bo Chi’s back was covered in a thin layer of sweat.
She trembled and wiped her forehead. Thinking that Yu Zhao was also in this ghostly state, she forced herself to calm down.
“A-Chi!” A fearful, crying voice suddenly rang out. The next second, a figure rushed over and hugged Bo Chi tightly.
Hearing her voice, Bo Chi’s pushing motion paused, and she changed to gently stroking her back, softly comforting her: “What’s wrong, Ning Gui? I just heard someone screaming here, did you find something?”
Ning Gui shook her head and didn’t speak, her slender body trembling slightly, as if she was in great fear.
As the female lead of this world, she was obviously a very weak little girl. Faced with the terrifying and creepy castle, she had a mental breakdown early on. Relying on luck, she survived for two days, but in the end, she still died in the darkness with her companions who had sneaked into the castle to explore.
Bo Chi, as usual, was a vicious female supporting character. Even though she was best friends with Ning Gui, she still pushed Ning Gui out of the house without hesitation when she encountered danger – thanks to the protagonist’s halo, Ning Gui didn’t die at that time, but the female supporting character who stayed in the room was the first to GG.
The ending of no one surviving was despairing. Bo Chi couldn’t think of a solution for the time being, so she could only comfort Ning Gui while tilting her head and looking past Ning Gui towards the place where the sound came from.
They were now on the first floor, with the stairs behind them and the hall in front of them. The reddish-brown wooden boards exuded a decaying atmosphere, the silver patterns on the candlesticks were covered with dust, and the fireplace in the corner had not been used for many years. At this moment, it was like a beast’s mouth, dark and chilling.
And directly below the huge chandelier lay a corpse.
In the thick smell of blood, he was like a shattered mirror, his head and body scattered on the ground.
Not to mention Ning Gui, who was constantly trembling, Bo Chi almost threw up at first glance.
As for the other people scattered around, they were either vomiting or crying, the atmosphere terrifying.
Bo Chi closed her eyes, tried to forget the scene in the pool of blood, and whispered to Ning Gui: “Let’s go to the window balcony.”
Ning Gui responded randomly, her fingers clutching her clothes tightly, obviously not paying attention to what she said, but relying on her wholeheartedly.
Opening the heavy curtains, the world outside the window came into view.
The sky was dark, no sunlight visible, and the sound of the wind was like the howling of wild beasts.
There were no other buildings around, only dense, towering trees. Looking further away, only gray fog could be seen.
The only building around was this ancient castle.
The castle occupied a vast area, the outermost part surrounded by overgrown thorns, followed by a large area of barren land, withered dark red petals, looking like a long-unused garden.
Finally, there was the place where they were, a tower with a towering spire.
The walls of the tower were already covered with vines, some even squeezing into the windows, like the tentacles of an ancient and evil old god, constantly drilling in, attracted by flesh and blood.
Bo Chi’s hair stood on end. After talking to the system several times and confirming that her death in the small world didn’t count, she finally suppressed her fear and asked Ning Gui: “Are you better now?”
They stood here, blown by the breeze, and the smell of blood in their noses had become thin.
Ning Gui hummed softly, her hand still wrapped around Bo Chi’s arm: “Much better, thank you Chi-Chi, if it weren’t for you, I would have been scared to death just now.”
Bo Chi smiled politely at her. Seeing that her face was pale, she considerately didn’t take her arm back.
Looking into the distance again, Bo Chi fell into thought.
She was thinking about how to escape the castle, but she didn’t notice that after she smiled, Ning Gui’s eyes flashed with attachment and infatuation.
Only the opened patterned glass window clearly reflected her expression.
The sky grew darker, and crows stood on the branches, their scarlet eyes staring straight at the tower, as if waiting for them to die and carry away their flesh.
Bo Chi went through the plot twice, but couldn’t find a way to escape, so she could only sigh: “Let’s go back first, it’s getting dark.”
Ning Gui nodded.
Back in the hall, Bo Chi unsurprisingly found that the corpse had disappeared, and the ground was clean and tidy, like a mirror.
She stared at the floor in a daze. The classmates who had stabilized their emotions thought she was shocked, and came over and whispered: “Around 4:30, the corpse suddenly disappeared. We guess it was a ghost… that thing did it, so we decided to stay in the room together tonight, keep watch together, and wait until dawn tomorrow to find a way out.”
Bo Chi hummed.
She had known these things from the plot long ago. The reason why she was staring at the ground in a daze was actually because… she was wearing a knee-length skirt.
If Yu Zhao could appear from the floor, wouldn’t she see her panties…
Bo Chi felt embarrassed just thinking about it, and her walking pace became more ladylike.
The classmates chatted with her for a while, and just as they were talking about how the corpse’s death was extremely strange, the chandelier in the room suddenly lit up, scaring the already jumpy classmates into screaming.
In the chaos, the light gradually spread, and soon, the castle was brightly lit.
Only then did they realize that not only was the ground clean, but even the tables and walls were spotless, the fire was burning in the fireplace, and there was an enticing aroma coming from the dining room.
This obvious abnormality was astonishing, as if the day and night here were two worlds. During the day, it was a lonely and desolate place like a deserted tomb, and at night, it was a lively time when the owner returned.
Just thinking about it, the classmates’ faces turned pale, and they refused to go to the dining room to see.
Fortunately, they had only arrived at the castle in the morning, and there were still a lot of snacks and water in their bags. Eating a little less to fill their stomachs at this time was not too difficult.
The few people were in a stalemate in the hall, neither daring to run around nor daring to truly relax – after all, not long ago, a corpse had been lying here.
Time passed, and in the blink of an eye, it was seven or eight o’clock. The lights in the dining room were still on, but the strong aroma of food gradually disappeared.
A pitter-patter sound rang out from outside. The numb classmates were stunned for a while, then looked at each other and whispered: “Is it raining?”
“It seems so, it sounds like the rain is not heavy, I hope it won’t affect our plan tomorrow.”
“Let’s get through tonight first…”
“Boom!”
A clap of thunder suddenly sounded, scaring everyone into shivering, and they subconsciously looked outside.
The heavy rain beat against the windows, the wind howled fiercely, and a vague figure gradually appeared outside the window.
“Is anyone there?” It was an old woman’s voice, hoarse and saying: “It’s raining outside, will any kind person open the door and let me in to take shelter from the rain?”
The room was silent, everyone staring wide-eyed and covering their mouths.
They were not fools, and in this situation, anyone could guess that something was wrong.
No one spoke, the old woman begged a few more times, and finally her figure dispersed, as if she had left.
After waiting for a while, seeing that there was no movement outside, only the wind and rain, a male student finally spoke tremblingly: “G-gone?”
The dead silence was broken, and the others answered with pale faces: “Probably.”
“Was that old woman that thing?”
“Maybe she’s really a person?”
“Does she know how to escape the forest?”
Amidst the chaotic voices, a hand pressed down on Bo Chi’s left shoulder.
Bo Chi didn’t think much and turned her head slightly, her eyes still scanning the hall: “If you’re scared, come closer to me.”
“Okay.” Ning Gui’s voice sounded from the right.
Bo Chi suddenly froze.
On the right was Ning Gui’s warm body, then whose cold hand was on her left shoulder…?
The hall suddenly fell silent.
The others seemed to have also noticed something was wrong, and their eyes fell on Bo Chi, looking at her left side with fear and horror.
“Ah!!”
A sudden shrill scream pierced the night, and everyone ran around frantically.
And Ning Gui, after failing to pull Bo Chi, also screamed and joined the crowd, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
The heavy rain continued outside the window, and Bo Chi’s body was frozen stiff, even her consciousness was a little slow.
It’s over.
She was going to be cold this time.
Was her luck really that bad?
The lucky one who was randomly selected in the plot was clearly not the original owner!
Bo Chi was depressed and thought wildly, and gradually her thoughts began to lengthen.
When her breathing gradually weakened, a crisp sound suddenly rang out in the hall.
“Slap!”
The hand resting on Bo Chi’s left shoulder was unceremoniously slapped away.
