Chapter 5: Ruthless Tang Ze
Baldy stopped Yellow Hair and shouted, “Brother, you must be starving after so many days. We had a good haul yesterday. Come over to 201 for a chat if you’re free.”
He then left with a confused Yellow Hair.
Ning Gu breathed a sigh of relief, and An Bai did the same.
However, Baldy’s words kept echoing in Ning Gu’s mind, eroding his last vestiges of willpower.
Soon, the two arrived at 701 and knocked.
Baldy used the same tone, shouting, “We have plenty of food. Come to 201 for a chat if you’re free. It’s better to be alive than anything, better than starving to death at home.”
The door suddenly opened.
But it was the next-door neighbor’s.
Tang Ze looked at the two and said in a deep voice, “Knock lightly, you’re too loud.”
Baldy and Yellow Hair exchanged glances. Recently, all the men had been respectful to them. When had anyone spoken to them like this?
“Are you looking for death?! How dare you talk to Brother Baldy like that!”
Yellow Hair immediately walked towards Tang Ze, but upon seeing the inside of the apartment, he went silent, stunned.
Baldy followed curiously and was also dumbfounded when he saw inside.
On the dining table were dishes of chicken stewed with mushrooms, braised pig’s trotters, and stir-fried lettuce.
More importantly, there was a woman eating next to the table.
“Br… Brother Baldy, th… that seems to be the streamer.”
Yellow Hair stammered. After so many days, even the most beautiful women had become haggard due to lack of food and water. But this streamer looked like a fairy.
“You’ve got it good, kid. Plenty of food and drink, and a beautiful woman at home.”
Baldy said sarcastically, walking directly into Tang Ze’s apartment, followed by Yellow Hair.
Tang Ze smiled and closed the door.
Yellow Hair couldn’t wait to grab a pig’s trotter with his hand. “Brother Baldy, pig’s feet, pig’s feet, so delicious!”
Sun Ting, seeing the two men enter, wasn’t flustered at all. She walked to the sofa and curled up.
Baldy looked at Sun Ting, unable to hide his greed. “Kid, if you know what’s good for you, hand over the food and the woman, and save yourself some pain.”
“She’s mine. I can’t give her to you. No way.”
Tang Ze said with an innocent look.
Sun Ting thought to herself, These two idiots are dead.
“Hah, you won’t take the nice way, huh? Brother Baldy, stand back, don’t get any blood on you.”
With that, Yellow Hair pulled out a fruit knife and stabbed at Tang Ze.
However, before he could hit him, Yellow Hair felt a fist envelop his face.
Bang! Yellow Hair’s world spun. His face caved in. Baldy’s eyes were filled with terror. Sun Ting on the sofa was also stunned. She knew Tang Ze had a gun, but she didn’t expect him to be so strong.
If she had any remaining thoughts of escape, they were gone now. She didn’t want to end up like Yellow Hair.
“Ting Ting, go open the window.”
Tang Ze chuckled, lifting Yellow Hair up. Yellow Hair weighed at least 130 pounds, yet Tang Ze lifted him effortlessly with one hand. Baldy’s hands were trembling.
Sun Ting obediently opened the window. Tang Ze threw Yellow Hair out.
A thud echoed.
However, no one paid attention. They were numb. Every day, people couldn’t bear the mental torment and chose to jump to their deaths.
Tang Ze clapped his hands and sat down again, smiling. “Sit, let’s eat together. Get another set of bowls and chopsticks for our guest.”
Sun Ting’s obedient manner made Baldy’s heart tremble. What had this young man done to her?
Looking at the graceful Sun Ting, Baldy felt no desire, only fear welling up inside him.
“Brother, how about it? Not bad, right?”
Tang Ze picked up his chopsticks and ate unhurriedly.
Baldy didn’t dare to pick up his chopsticks.
“Looking down on me?”
Tang Ze narrowed his eyes slightly.
Baldy quickly picked up his chopsticks. “Misunderstanding, brother, no such thing.”
“Good. So, what’s the situation outside?”
Baldy didn’t dare to lie and immediately said, “It’s chaos out there. People are killing each other for supplies. The convenience stores and supermarkets nearby have been looted by several residential complexes.”
“What’s your boss planning?”
“The boss said, after this batch of supplies is gone, we’ll rob the surrounding complexes.”
“How much do you have left?”
“If we conserve, it should last about a month.”
“By the way, is your boss looking for this?”
Tang Ze took out his gun, making Baldy’s scalp tingle. For some bread and mineral water, he had practically signed his own death warrant.
Baldy nodded.
Tang Ze put down his chopsticks, having finished eating. “What are you waiting for? Eat. It’s your last meal before I send you on your way.”
Tears streamed down Baldy’s face. “Big brother, I was wrong! Don’t kill me! I’ll give you all my supplies, please!”
“Eat quickly, don’t waste it. And remember to thank me.”
Tang Ze’s eyes turned cold. Baldy frantically stuffed food into his mouth, feeling for the first time that it tasted so bad.
He had thought Dong Fei was ruthless, but this young man was even more so. “Thank you, big brother.”
“Now, jump yourself. Don’t make me shoot. Blood splatters everywhere, it’s hard to clean, right?”
Baldy kept backing away, pleading with his hands, until his back was against the wall.
“Big brother, we have no quarrel, you…”
Bang! Before he could finish, a gunshot rang out.
A red dot appeared between Baldy’s eyebrows. He fell backward and tumbled down.
Sun Ting swallowed hard. This man was unpredictable, so ruthless.
Downstairs, Dong Fei and the others’ faces changed drastically when they heard the gunshot again.
“Brother Dong, Baldy fell!”
A younger brother shouted from the balcony.
Dong Fei immediately ran to the balcony. Seeing Baldy’s body, his face darkened.
“Boss, if he doesn’t come looking for trouble, we don’t need to bother him either. It’s best to avoid conflict.”
Although Dong Fei was unwilling, his subordinate’s words made sense. If the gunman sought revenge, their lives wouldn’t be enough to pay for it.
Dong Fei immediately sent a message in the Building Three group chat.
“Brother, we have food and drink here. Come over and sit if you’re free.”
This was clearly a gesture of submission, an attempt at reconciliation. But Dong Fei had other plans. If he really came, it would be a Hongmen banquet (a trap).
Sitting on the sofa, Tang Ze chuckled. He had plenty of time to deal with them. The priority now was food.
Looking at Sun Ting, who was massaging his feet, he decided to let her rest for the night, lest she die suddenly.
“Aren’t you a dance streamer? Go dance for me.”
“What kind of dance does Master like?”
“What do you think?”
Sun Ting understood and turned on the music, swaying her enchanting body.
