Chapter 27: Yielding
“Yiyi, get some rest. I’m going to deal with her for talking nonsense.”
“Okay, go ahead.”
Listening to the playful banter on the phone, Ye Qingyi was envious. She should have been there with them.
Ending the call, she had to face Tang Ze.
“So, that’s your future sister-in-law?”
Sun Ting took the phone, opened the photos, and showed Tang Ze a picture.
Tang Ze nodded. “Not a bad option.”
“What are you going to do?!”
Ye Qingyi snapped.
Tang Ze was annoyed by her tone.
Later that afternoon.
“Eat something.”
An Bai secretly brought leftovers to Ye Qingyi.
Looking at An Bai, Ye Qingyi lowered her guard slightly and whispered a thank you.
“Sister, don’t provoke Master anymore.”
Ye Qingyi ate quickly. She contemplated death, but fear held her back.
“An Bai, why are you so obedient?”
Ye Qingyi asked. Why didn’t they resist?
An Bai paused and whispered, “We have food and water, all thanks to Master. Without him, we’d be corpses. There are four or five more dead women outside.”
Ye Qingyi shuddered, remembering the brutally violated corpses on the lawn. What had happened to the world?
“If it was fear at first, now it’s gratitude.”
“Gratitude?”
Ye Qingyi was surprised.
“Yes. You see what those men are like. Did any captured woman have a good ending? We’re safe under Master’s protection. What we give is nothing compared to what we receive.”
Ye Qingyi realized An Bai had a point.
Sun Ting emerged from the bedroom. Ye Qingyi quickly put down her plate, afraid Sun Ting would tell Tang Ze.
Sun Ting said indifferently, “Eat. Don’t starve.”
An Bai nodded and whispered, “Sister Ting isn’t bad, it’s just that you’re too stubborn.”
Not bad? She’s the one behind all this!
“Bai, don’t say that. I’m a bad woman.”
Sun Ting pursed her lips. Being good got you nowhere in this world.
An Bai knew Sun Ting was just venting.
“Thank you, I’m full.”
Ye Qingyi wiped her mouth, feeling sleepy.
Sun Ting reminded her, “If you want to die, just beg. Master will oblige. But if you want to live, drop the vice president act, the ‘CEO’s daughter-in-law’ act. Don’t drag Bai and me down!”
Everyone wanted to live.
Silence filled the room.
An Bai poured Ye Qingyi some warm water. Ye Qingyi took it, but didn’t drink. She whispered, “Could I have a nice dress?”
Sun Ting and An Bai exchanged glances. This was different. Survival instincts had kicked in.
Tang Ze had taken a nap. He stood by the window, looking at the bodies covering the central green area. Perhaps due to the lower temperature, the stench had lessened.
He couldn’t stay in this environment any longer.
Leaving the bedroom, he noticed Ye Qingyi was quiet and obedient. He took out some food as a reward.
Seeing a whole fried chicken leg, Ye Qingyi almost cried. Such junk food, something she wouldn’t have looked at twice before, was now something she had to discard her dignity for.
She devoured it without hesitation. Wasn’t survival in the apocalypse all about filling your stomach?
“Any other requests?”
Tang Ze asked calmly.
This was a tricky question, but Ye Qingyi, with her high education, wouldn’t make any demands. She would obey unconditionally, even if he asked her to jump out the window.
“I have no requests, only to bring Master endless pleasure.”
Sun Ting and An Bai exchanged glances again. This woman knew how to please a man.
However, Tang Ze didn’t trust Ye Qingyi, nor did he truly trust Sun Ting and An Bai.
The law of the apocalypse: trust no one but yourself.
