Chapter 303: Sister vs. Sister

Qin Chu shook his head, disappointed by Athena’s performance.

She still had much to learn. If it were him, he would have at least orchestrated a fight between the sisters, preferably after stripping them naked.

Weakening the enemy was crucial. It would give him an advantage, regardless of their next move.

Athena was intelligent, but she lacked experience. She needed more training.

As for Athena, her mental exhaustion and the unexpected trap had left her vulnerable. She hadn’t anticipated the wire, and now her ankle was injured, and the soul fragment was gone.

Damn it! She instinctively tried to retreat.

But the twins wouldn’t give her a chance.

They had retreated initially, but they had quickly returned, lurking nearby, waiting for this opportunity.

While they wanted to torture Athena for threatening them with the soul fragment, they were also wary of her other abilities.

So, a quick death was preferable.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…

Silver wires sprang from the ground, controlled by Eileen.

The thin wires possessed incredible cutting power.

A flash of silver filled the air.

There were only a few wires, but they seemed to multiply, filling Athena’s vision.

Weakened by mental exhaustion and her injured ankle, she couldn’t defend herself, relying solely on her Rock Armor to protect her vital points.

She wanted to counterattack, but she couldn’t pinpoint their location.

Screech, screech, screech…

The wires tore at her Rock Armor, cracks spreading across the surface.

Athena cursed inwardly. She gripped her staff, preparing to unleash a powerful spell, to create a smokescreen and obscure their vision.

But her Rock Armor shattered.

A sharp pain shot through her wrist as a wire sliced open her veins. She lost her grip on her staff.

A flash of silver.

Then, Athena froze, her eyes losing focus.

Blood welled up on her slender neck. She stumbled back, collapsing to the ground.

The twins emerged from the shadows, looking down at her lifeless body. Airi even spat on her.

Disgusting.

It was too quick. They should have tortured her.

Airi’s eyes gleamed with excitement as she looked at the soul fragment in her hand. She glanced at her sister: “Eileen, let’s go.”

“Leave her here. The wild animals will take care of her.”

Eileen nodded silently.

Airi skipped away happily, clutching the soul fragment. This is just the beginning, Jie Luo. I’ll gather all your soul fragments soon, and then you’ll be resurrected.

Lost in her joy, she didn’t notice the cold, indifferent look in her sister’s eyes.

After the twins left, Qin Chu, Heloise, Anastasia, and Ireta emerged from the trees… Looking at Athena’s body, a smile spread across Qin Chu’s face.

This was perfect.

This was how hatred was born.

He was certain a resurrected Athena would wreak havoc upon the former Hero Squad.

Her body was still warm. She could be saved. If she had been dead for much longer, even Ireta wouldn’t be able to revive her.

He crouched down, placing his hand on her slender neck. Holy light flowed into her, the wound closing rapidly.

Soon, the wounds on her neck, ankle, and wrist were completely healed.

“Ireta, the rest is up to you…”

With the Daughter of Death here, Athena couldn’t die, even if she wanted to.

Ireta extended her hand, gently pressing it against Athena’s chest.

Athena’s soul, which had almost escaped her body, was drawn back in.

After a few seconds, her heart began to beat again. She opened her eyes, gasping for breath, her eyes filled with confusion. She touched her neck, looking around, trying to understand what had happened.

She saw Qin Chu.

“Master… what are you doing here?” she asked, her voice filled with confusion.

“I sensed a disturbance and came to investigate.”

He smiled, patting her head gently: “My Athena, you’re not allowed to die without my permission, understand?”

Athena’s eyes widened. What did he mean?

Hadn’t she been killed by Airi and Eileen? Had he saved her again? How? She felt a growing awe of his power and mystery.

He had saved her… just like Jie Luo had once saved her.

A strange feeling stirred within her. Qin Chu’s image seemed clearer, more prominent.

It had started as a transaction, her forced submission to him, but now… it felt… right.

But what did he mean, she wasn’t allowed to die without his permission?

Was he always this possessive?

He was concerned about her, wasn’t he? Couldn’t he have expressed it more gently?

And Airi and Eileen… this wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.

Meanwhile, the Twin Thieves, clutching Jie Luo’s soul fragment, hurried away.

Now, with Loseweisse possessing the Resurrection scroll and Airi holding the first soul fragment, they were on equal footing.

Finally, as the sun rose high in the sky, they stopped.

The two small figures were covered in sweat. Their stamina wasn’t great.

Perhaps because of their recent actions, they wanted to put as much distance between themselves and the scene as possible. They were now deep within the Auville Empire, hopefully safe for the time being.

Airi’s hand trembled as she looked at the soul fragment.

She had finally obtained it.

She was certain it was Jie Luo’s, the warmth in her palm a comforting presence.

After a while, she put it away.

“Sister, we have the soul fragment now…” she said quietly. “It’s just one piece, but it’s a start. But the Resurrection scroll is still with Loseweisse. That woman is so sly, she wouldn’t let us see its contents.”

She had shown them a portion of the scroll, but… it wasn’t the complete text, and the complex terminology was beyond Airi’s comprehension.

Emboldened by obtaining the soul fragment, Airi felt a surge of impulsiveness.

Eileen frowned: “You’re thinking of… eliminating Loseweisse too?”

“Yes, don’t you find her annoying?” Airi replied instantly.

“Acting like Jie Luo’s lover just because she’s the Saintess of the Holy See and has that stupid oracle. Disgusting.”

“Always putting on an act, that fake sweet voice makes me want to puke.”

“When Jie Luo is resurrected, that bitch will cling to him constantly. Can you tolerate that?”

“Let’s just kill her when we get back. We’ve already fallen out with Sylph and killed Athena. One more won’t make a difference,” Airi said coldly, her eyes filled with killing intent.

Eileen seemed shocked by her sister’s ruthlessness.

“Airi, Loseweisse is different from Athena and Sylph. They were getting too close to Qin Chu, potentially betraying us, jeopardizing Jie Luo’s resurrection. That’s why we had to eliminate them,” Eileen said softly. “But Loseweisse is different. You know her feelings for Jie Luo. She would never betray us.”

“Are you planning to kill all our comrades and resurrect Jie Luo by ourselves? Can we even do that?”

Airi was annoyed by her sister’s reluctance. We can do it, even if it’s just the two of us.

“Fine, fine, we’ll do it your way.”

“I’m tired. I haven’t slept properly in days. Let’s take turns resting,” Airi said, stretching and yawning.

They had been traveling for days, sleeping less than two hours each night. Even with their strength, they were exhausted.

The warmth of the sun made them even sleepier.

“You sleep first. I’ll keep watch,” Airi said. “I’ll wake you in two hours.”

Eileen nodded gratefully and lay down, curling up on a flat patch of ground, quickly falling asleep.

Airi glanced at her sleeping sister.

Her dagger spun in her hand, a sinister glint in her narrowed eyes. A dark impulse grew within her.

That was her sister…
