50. Such Close Sisters (Part 1)
“So, where should we go next…?” After a short rest, Ruo Tianxin, fully recharged, was the first to jump up from the bench. Just as she spoke, her phone rang.
Eh? Whose phone is that? Mine?
Ruo Tianxin took out her phone, glanced at the caller ID, and muttered, “Mom?”
“Sis, I need to take this call. You two finish the ice cream.”
With a smile, Ruo Tianxin walked away to answer the call.
Ruo Xiaoxi and Lan Yinuo still hadn’t finished the giant ice cream cone. Finally admitting defeat, they grabbed two spoons and started eating it like a parfait.
“Hello… Mom? Why are you calling your precious daughter?”
Ruo Tianxin’s voice faded into the distance. Ruo Xiaoxi, eating her ice cream, watched her sister walk away and stand under a tree, talking on the phone.
It took about two or three minutes.
Since it was their mother calling, Ruo Xiaoxi felt a twinge of concern and followed her sister. By the time she reached her, Ruo Tianxin had finished the call and was putting her phone away.
“Tianxin, what did Mom say?”
“Sister, I can’t stay with you guys any longer. I have to go home.”
“Hmm? What happened?”
“Haha, nothing much. Mom called to ask if I had arrived yet. If I hadn’t, she and Dad were planning to come visit you.”
“Mom and Dad are coming!?” Ruo Xiaoxi’s eyes widened in alarm.
“Yeah, so I told them I already bought a ticket home and that you were busy studying. They said they’d visit you another time.”
“Whew… thanks, Tianxin.”
“Hee hee, relieved? Aren’t you grateful to your wonderful little sister for keeping your secret?”
“Hmph, if you betray me, I’ll tell Mom and Dad about your little toy.”
“Hey, hey, hey, don’t you dare! And what’s the big deal? It’s perfectly normal! I’m a teenage girl; Mom will definitely understand.”
Ruo Tianxin crossed her arms, a hopeful look on her face. Surely she’ll understand…
“So, you’re going home now? You can take the bus from the amusement park entrance.”
“Yeah, I’ll head back now. I’ll buy the wallpaper and plushies for your room on my way. Do you want me to leave one of my ‘Little Cuties’ for you too?” Ruo Tianxin asked with a grin, flashing her pearly white teeth.
“K-keep your things to yourself,” Ruo Xiaoxi said, looking away.
“I have two anyway, so I can give you one. Who was it moaning ‘So good, so good’ the other night?” Ruo Tianxin teased, clearly enjoying her newfound leverage. “Oh, and I have something else for you.”
“What is it?”
“This.” Ruo Tianxin pulled out a pink button with a keyring attached, this time a practical item. “A personal safety alarm. I always carry a spare.”
“A safety alarm…” Ruo Xiaoxi took the unfamiliar device.
“Mom bought it for me. It’s for emergencies, if you encounter a creep or a bad guy. Now that you’re a girl, you have to be more careful. Don’t take taxis alone at night.”
“Huh… yeah, I know,” Ruo Xiaoxi nodded.
“And also… here’s a little spending money for you,” Ruo Tianxin said, transferring 3000 yuan to Ruo Xiaoxi’s phone.
“Mom and Dad already gave me plenty of money. What’s this for…?”
“This is from your little sister, shhh, don’t tell Mom and Dad. Living expenses are higher in the city, don’t shortchange yourself.”
“Is this your own allowance? No need, I, I have a rich older sister who supports me. Keep your money, I’ll transfer it back.”
Ruo Xiaoxi quickly took out her phone, ready to send the money back.
But Ruo Tianxin stopped her, shaking her head. “No, sister, girls have to be independent. You can’t always rely on others. It might be okay for a while, but in the long run, it will make people look down on you. It’s not good.”
Ruo Xiaoxi considered her words. She couldn’t always depend on others, couldn’t take advantage of her looks for financial gain, and she didn’t like being indebted to others.
But her sister giving her her own allowance made her feel guilty…
“Then how about this, I’ll take a third for living expenses, and we’ll save the rest in our joint account.”

The sisters had a joint savings account where they deposited their leftover allowance. They rarely withdrew money from it, as their allowance was usually enough, and they were both relatively frugal.
With practical matters settled, they turned their attention to the present.
Ruo Tianxin glanced at Lan Yinuo, who was sitting alone on the bench, then whispered to Ruo Xiaoxi, “Remember, get Nuonuo!”
“I’ll try my best, but if she doesn’t like me, I can’t do anything about it,” Ruo Xiaoxi whispered back, thinking that Xiao Nuonuo, being so timid, would be easy to win over.
“She does like you, I think. But if no one wants to marry you, I can always take you. What do you think?”
“In your dreams! I have so many girls who like me; you’re not even in the running.”
“Pfft, shouldn’t you say, ‘I like so many girls’? Oh well, you little player, I hope you haven’t turned into a human plush toy by the time I visit you again.”
“They’ll all be my little blood bags!” Ruo Xiaoxi declared, putting her hands on her hips.
If she saw her brother causing trouble and getting boiled alive by a group of angry older sisters, Ruo Tianxin wouldn’t save her; she might even add more fuel to the fire.
“Then I look forward to the day my vampire sister conquers another world.”
“Mm!” Ruo Xiaoxi nodded proudly. “Then I can finally achieve food freedom! I won’t have to worry about blood anymore, and I can even be picky and choose only the tastiest!”
Bread is a dream, and a dream is bread.
Although, looking at the petite vampire, it was hard to take her seriously.
Ruo Tianxin chuckled, gently cupped Ruo Xiaoxi’s face, and kissed her cheek. Kiss for my cute older sister.
“I’ll say goodbye to Nuonuo. You two continue your date. I’ll head back now.”
“Mmm… be careful, and call me when you get home.”
