34. Marrying Off My Adorable Brother!
Ruo Tianxin unpacked her toiletries, placing her toothbrush and cup next to Ruo Xiaoxi’s on the bathroom vanity.
Just like when they were kids, their blue and pink plastic cups stood side-by-side.
She looked around the apartment. It was surprisingly clean and organized, not at all like the messy pigsty she had imagined.
She had been planning to clean up as soon as she arrived.
“Maybe turning my brother into a neat and tidy girl isn’t so bad?”
“What?” Ruo Xiaoxi, engrossed in her game, glanced at her.
Returning from the bathroom, Ruo Tianxin took out her laptop and placed it on the spacious glass desk, the surface cool against her arm.
She squeezed in next to Ruo Xiaoxi.
The chair suddenly felt cramped, their shoulders touching, a faint, sweet fragrance wafting from her sister.
Their bare legs brushed against each other, like two pieces of flawless white jade. Ruo Xiaoxi felt a coolness emanating from her sister’s leg.
“Tianxin… it’s a bit tight,” Ruo Xiaoxi mumbled, her cheeks flushing slightly, her eyes half-closed.
Even though they were both girls now, and such close contact wasn’t a big deal, it was still her sister, and it made her strangely shy.
It had been a long time since they had been this close. Had her little sister grown into such a beautiful young woman? And she smells so nice… I’m going to faint!
“Can’t be helped. Your apartment is so minimalist, only one chair, not even a stool. And those little step stools are too short. Just squeeze, squeeze~”
“I live alone, I don’t have guests over, so I didn’t think about it.”
“See? We can still fit. I’ll put my laptop here, and you can still reach the mouse and keyboard.”
Thankfully, Ruo Xiaoxi had bought a larger chair, big enough for an adult man, which was just right for two petite girls.
As Ruo Tianxin opened her laptop and logged into the game, she noticed Ruo Xiaoxi’s shy demeanor and couldn’t help but tease her. “Bro, are you embarrassed to sit next to me? Aren’t you a little old for that?”
“N-no! This is called being a refined and demure young lady! And it’s because I’m older now…”
“A young lady, giggle, giggle, giggle.” Ruo Tianxin burst into laughter, her eyebrows curving into crescents. “Yes, yes, our Xiaoxi is a proper young lady, aren’t you, Xiaoxi, Xiaoxi, Xiaoxi?”
The girl’s name my brother chose for himself is quite cute.
Xiaoxi, Xiaoxi, she keeps saying it, so annoying! Ruo Xiaoxi blushed and looked away. Being called that by her sister was strangely embarrassing.
Wanting to see more of her brother’s cute transformations, Ruo Tianxin mischievously reached around and hugged Ruo Xiaoxi’s slender waist. “Look, I can hug you with one arm. You’re such a loli.”
“S-stop it, please… eep!” Ruo Xiaoxi squirmed, mortified. It seemed her years of establishing her older brother’s authority had crumbled overnight.
And now she had to endure being teased and humiliated by her younger sister. She bit her lip to suppress her frustration.
Once Ruo Tianxin logged into the game, Ruo Xiaoxi messaged Lan Yinuo that she was back.
Before starting the video call, Ruo Tianxin even checked her reflection in a small mirror, making sure she looked presentable.
If my sister is going to be so pretty, then I can’t embarrass the family.
Ruo Xiaoxi briefly introduced her sister to Lan Yinuo. The two girls hit it off immediately.
Ruo Tianxin’s account was relatively new; she was a newbie at this game. They decided to do some quests together and help her level up.
Ruo Xiaoxi and Lan Yinuo usually spent their time sightseeing and chatting in the game; dungeons were too tiring, and Lan Yinuo didn’t enjoy them.
So, if you saw two lolis in pretty dresses in the game, idling together in one spot, then flying hand-in-hand to another location to idle some more, that was definitely Ruo Xiaoxi and Lan Yinuo, chatting as they explored the map.
Especially the one with the shameless username [I’m Cute, Send Money].
Before she knew it, Ruo Xiaoxi’s sister and Lan Yinuo had formed a master-disciple relationship in the game.
“Master, Master, this NPC has such big breasts! Gasp, gasp. There’s only a leaf covering them, so lewd! I usually don’t look at these things.”
“Because this is the Nan Zhao region. The setting is mostly forests and tribes, not as grand as the main cities like Yangzhou or Chang’an. The inhabitants are more… primitive.”
“Eh, Master, I can’t use my skills! I’m smashing my keyboard!”
“Ah, in this game, you need to face your target to use skills. You can’t attack with your back turned. I’ll teleport back to the main city and buy you some bags and candied hawthorns. I’ll be right back.”
“What are bags and candied hawthorns…?”
Ruo Tianxin kept calling Lan Yinuo “Master,” and Lan Yinuo patiently guided her.
Her sister rarely played online games, preferring dramas and manga. She was a complete newbie, unfamiliar with many things.
You couldn’t ask her, “What else don’t you know?” but rather, “What do you know?”
But raising a newbie disciple was part of the fun of MMOs. However, her sister was so clueless she was wearing healer gear and wondering why her damage was so low.
She even started questioning the game’s balance.
“Is there something wrong with the game’s difficulty?”
Lan Yinuo’s silvery laughter echoed through the voice chat. Ruo Tianxin’s clueless, bewildered expression, occasionally glancing at Ruo Xiaoxi for help, made her even more adorable.
From now on, neither of us can judge the other for being clueless.
“Nuonuo, this is a pig, from the Chinese zodiac,” Ruo Xiaoxi said solemnly, gesturing towards her sister.
“Pfft…! Don’t be mean, Tianxin is very cute. Don’t bully my disciple.”
“Exactly! If you’re going to insult me, at least do it directly. And if I’m a pig, then you are too. We’re from the same litter, after all. You’re still my br… my sis.”
The three of them played together until evening, the room filled with their cheerful chatter. Ruo Tianxin finally reached max level, and, exhausted from chatting and gaming, they said goodnight and logged off.
Of course, Lan Yinuo was practically online 24/7 during summer vacation, even leaving her character online while she slept. When she wasn’t video chatting with Ruo Xiaoxi or in the guild voice chat, she would do quests by herself.
That’s why Ruo Xiaoxi had given her the title of “internet-addicted girl.”
“Alright, it’s dinner time. I can’t cook, so let’s eat out,” Ruo Xiaoxi said, turning off the computer and standing up. Seeing her sister still sitting in the chair, she asked, “What’s wrong? Still want to play?”
Ruo Tianxin’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Bro, do you like that girl? Do you want to date her?”
“Eh!? Why are you asking? I… I don’t know. I like her, of course I like her.”
“That girl with the slightly curly hair? She’s so pretty, and she has such a sweet and gentle personality, a total goody-two-shoes. I approve!”
Plus, she had heard during their chat that they lived close by, just a short subway ride away. This wasn’t some long-distance online romance; they could be a real couple!
How to be a good little sister:
Ruo Tianxin rubbed her hands together, eager to get started. She had been worried about her brother, now sister, being alone in a different city for school, with no one to take care of her.
Before some guy snatches her up…
I need to find a way to marry off my adorable brother.
