Chapter 75: Any Chance I Get, I’ll Seduce Him

Silence descended upon the courtyard. Everyone’s expressions shifted, none more drastically than Yan Zhen’s.

The script stated that after witnessing her most embarrassing moment, Xiao Xinyan would avoid Yan Zhen out of shame, unwilling and afraid to approach him.

And now she wanted to move in?

This wasn’t the first time events had deviated from the script. Yan Zhen remained calm, his mind racing as he searched for a possible explanation.

Based on his understanding of her character, Yan Zhen had initially assumed that after suffering such humiliation, the prideful Xiao Xinyan would seek revenge, not meekly accept her fate.

Spiteful retaliation was a classic villainous trope.

This meant the problem likely lay with the script itself. The writer hadn’t accurately captured her personality, resulting in a plot hole.

Xiao Xinyan’s current behavior made perfect sense.

    — *She must be planning to use this opportunity to seduce me! Living under the same roof will give her ample chances to use her feminine wiles and lure me into making a mistake. Then, she’ll arrange for Instructor Yu Xuan or the others to “catch us” in a compromising position, ruining my reputation and driving a wedge between us!*

Of course, it might not be a seduction scheme. Perhaps she had something else in mind. Whatever it was, she wasn’t going to let this go unpunished!

As tempting as it was to play along and see what she was up to, the script didn’t include such a scenario. He had to prevent her from moving in.

Instructor Yu Xuan responded to Xiao Xinyan’s request with a wry smile. “I don’t mind, but this is Xue’er’s house. You’ll need to ask her permission.”

All eyes turned to Mi Xue’er.

“What do you say, Junior Sister Xue’er?” Instructor Yu Xuan prompted gently.

Mi Xue’er crossed her arms, her expression cold. “I’m sorry, Xiao Xinyan. While I sympathize with your situation, that’s a separate matter. I don’t want to live with someone I dislike. Seeing her every day would just ruin my mood.”

Her words were blunt, leaving no room for misinterpretation.

Xiao Xinyan’s face fell. She knew Mi Xue’er disliked her, just as she disliked Mi Xue’er.

They were both natives of Silver Moon City, living in the same district. Their rivalry had begun in childhood, their animosity growing with each passing year.

When she became Instructor Yu Xuan’s disciple, Xiao Xinyan had initially hoped to befriend Yan Ruyu. However, Mi Xue’er had beaten her to the punch, quickly befriending Yan Ruyu. Enraged, Xiao Xinyan had lumped them both together as objects of her disdain.

With her hopes dashed, Xiao Xinyan turned back to Instructor Yu Xuan, clutching her arm pleadingly. “Instructor, please, help me… I’m truly scared.”

    Instructor Yu Xuan hesitated.

While she was closer to Mi Xue’er, Yan Ruyu, and Yan Meng’er, she harbored no ill will towards Xiao Xinyan. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have taken her on as a student in the first place.

Furthermore, while Xiao Xinyan clashed with Mi Xue’er, she was always respectful and obedient towards her, showering her with gifts on birthdays and holidays and always heeding her advice.

Torn between her students, Instructor Yu Xuan couldn’t bring herself to ignore Xiao Xinyan’s plea. Her fear was palpable. Her hands had been trembling ever since she arrived.

“Xue’er, there’s a spare room in the house. Why don’t we let Xinyan stay for a few days?”

Mi Xue’er sighed inwardly. Her instructor was too kind for her own good. A flicker of resentment crossed her face, but she replied, “Fine. Since you’ve asked, Instructor, she can stay for two days. But we’re making this clear beforehand. Once this blows over, she’s out. There are plenty of houses in the city. She can find her own place.”

“Then it’s settled.” Instructor Yu Xuan smiled. “Xinyan, are you alright with that?”

“I’ll do whatever Instructor says,” Xiao Xinyan replied gratefully.

“Good. The spare room is fully furnished. You don’t need to bring anything, Xinyan. Just a few essentials. After all, you’ll only be staying a few days.”

    “Okay.”

“Have you eaten dinner yet?” Seeing Xiao Xinyan shake her head, Instructor Yu Xuan’s heart softened. “Then you’ll have to make do with some barbecue. Come on.”

    “Thank you, Instructor.”

Xiao Xinyan’s unprecedented docility made Mi Xue’er’s teeth clench. She let out a disgruntled huff.

Yan Meng’er and Yan Ruyu exchanged glances but remained silent.

Yan Zhen’s expression darkened, but knowing she was only staying a few days eased his worries.

*This Miss High-and-Mighty can’t outsmart me or overpower me. All she can do is resort to underhanded tactics. But if she tries anything, I’ll make sure she regrets it!*

If she behaved herself, all would be well. But if she dared to play any games, he wouldn’t hesitate to retaliate. His newly acquired “Katō Eagle Finger” was just begging for a test run.

They resumed their barbecue, but the atmosphere was noticeably strained with Xiao Xinyan’s presence.

Mi Xue’er, in particular, attacked her skewers with a vengeance, her cheeks puffed out as if determined to prevent Xiao Xinyan from tasting a single morsel of Little Brother Yan Zhen’s cooking.

As they ate, Yan Meng’er suddenly spoke up. “Senior Sister Xinyan, you said earlier that Cousin saved you?”

Xiao Xinyan swallowed her mouthful of meat and nodded. “That’s right.”

“How did he save you?” Yan Meng’er frowned. “Don’t tell me he… you know…”

The implication hung in the air, the mood instantly shifting.

The four girls knew Yan Zhen had rescued Xiao Xinyan, but they were unaware of the specifics. Even Instructor Yu Xuan hadn’t pressed her for details.

While it probably hadn’t gone *that* far, the fact that Xiao Xinyan had been drugged with concentrated Dream Drop Dew while bathing meant she had been completely naked.

Had Yan Zhen taken advantage of the situation to… *look*?

The mere thought sent a pang of jealousy through them, as if Xiao Xinyan had somehow usurped their position.

Four pairs of eyes focused intently on Yan Zhen.

Yan Zhen’s face darkened. *Of all the things to ask about! Why did she have to bring this up?*

“I simply gave her a Detoxification Pill and used my cultivation to purge the drug from her system,” he replied curtly.

“That’s right,” Xiao Xinyan confirmed, her cheeks flushing as she spoke. “He didn’t… we didn’t do anything like *that*“

Mi Xue’er’s gaze sharpened, her next words piercing straight to the heart of the matter. “Xiao Xinyan, don’t tell me you’re trying to cling to Little Brother Yan Zhen just because he had to see and touch you while saving your life?”

Xiao Xinyan bristled, as if struck a nerve. “Nonsense! I would never! Do you think I’m like you, Mi Xue’er? I… I don’t even like him! Why would I cling to him?!”

“Good. That’s how it should be.” Mi Xue’er sniffed. “Little Brother Yan Zhen is *ours*. Don’t you dare try to steal him. I won’t let you get away with it!”

“Oh, if you put it *that* way, then I *definitely* have to try something. Any chance I get, I’ll seduce him!”

    “You wouldn’t dare!”

“Oh, I would. He’s already seen and touched me. What’s a little more? Someone’s getting jealous, aren’t they?”

    “You–”

Furious, Mi Xue’er jumped to her feet, ready to launch herself at Xiao Xinyan. Yan Ruyu and Yan Meng’er quickly grabbed her, restraining her.

Instructor Yu Xuan tugged on Xiao Xinyan’s sleeve, urging her to stop provoking Mi Xue’er.

Yan Zhen, caught in the crossfire, could only groan inwardly. *Can’t you two fight without dragging me into it? This is so embarrassing!*

Chapter 74: Can I Live With You?

The moment Yan Zhen touched her, Xiao Xinyan reacted, her legs clamping together as she instinctively thrust her hips upwards, seeking more contact.

Ignoring her unintentional seduction, Yan Zhen focused on circulating his Mystic Power, guiding the detoxification process while simultaneously stimulating a pressure point on her lower back.

Her moans intensified, and her body began to tremble once more. Seizing the opportunity, Yan Zhen pressed down on another pressure point, this one near her navel.

    “Ahhh!”

A shrill cry escaped her lips, echoing through the room. Anyone within earshot would have heard her.

Yan Zhen wanted nothing more than to remove his hand, but he needed to ensure the drug was completely purged from her system. He maintained his hold on the pressure point until her stiff muscles relaxed and her body slumped back into the water.

Releasing his hold, he glanced down. The hem of his tunic was soaked, a faint, musky scent clinging to the damp fabric.

    Damn it!

    This outfit was ruined.

He really didn’t understand the purpose of this scene in the original story. Even if it was meant to showcase the protagonist’s kind heart, did it have to be written this way?

Glancing at Xiao Xinyan, who was still lost in the afterglow, Yan Zhen felt his own control slipping. He quickly untied the makeshift restraints and re-hung her clothes on the screen. Without another word, he turned to leave.

    “W-wait.”

A weak voice called out from behind him.

“No need for thanks. I’ll just add this to my diary,” he quipped over his shoulder before beating a hasty retreat.

Back on the rooftops, Yan Zhen stripped off his damp clothes and tossed them aside, changing into a clean uniform.

A notification chimed in his mind, signaling the completion of his mission. He brought up the system interface to claim his reward.

[Special Trump Card – Katō Eagle Finger: Upon activation, grants the Host’s finger a special ability. Touching a female target’s skin directly will induce full-body spasms and uncontrollable… moisture. Effectiveness decreases with higher target cultivation levels.]

    “…”

I should have just ignored this mission. Not only had he wasted time and ended up soaked, but the reward was utterly ridiculous!

With nothing pressing to do, Yan Zhen considered returning to his room to meditate. Instead, he decided to go shopping for groceries.

By the time the four girls returned from the academy, Yan Zhen had already gathered the ingredients and set up a barbecue grill in the courtyard. The table overflowed with meat, seafood, vegetables, and mushrooms.

He lit the charcoal, the flames crackling merrily as they took hold. Everything was ready.

The girls stared at him in bewilderment.

Yan Zhen gestured at the grill with a flourish. “Barbecue tonight! I cook, you eat. Consider it a small token of my gratitude for your care these past few days. Got it?”

The girls’ eyes lit up, especially Mi Xue’er and Instructor Yu Xuan, who had never tasted his cooking before. Yan Meng’er and Yan Ruyu, on the other hand, were reminded of their childhood, when Yan Zhen would roast bird eggs and wild chickens he had caught for them.

“I’ll help you, Cousin!” Yan Meng’er chirped.

“Good girl, that’s my cousin.” Yan Zhen patted her head affectionately.

    Ah, sibling harmony.

Seeing this, Yan Ruyu gathered her courage and stepped forward. “I’ll help too,” she mumbled. “I want to make sure it’s edible. I don’t want to go to bed hungry.”

“Don’t you worry, I guarantee it’ll be delicious.” Yan Zhen puffed out his chest confidently. As the protagonist, attracting mythical beasts with his barbecue skills was practically a given!

    Yan Ruyu snorted, unconvinced.

Not to be left out, Mi Xue’er chimed in. “Little Brother Yan Zhen, I want to try grilling too! Can I?”

Yan Zhen adopted a serious expression. “Senior Sister Xue’er, food is not a toy. Wasting it is a sin!”

“I won’t waste any! You can just eat whatever I grill, Little Brother Yan Zhen.”

“Why me? Is that your way of subtly implying you’re a terrible cook?” Yan Zhen deadpanned.

Mi Xue’er stuck her tongue out at him playfully.

Instructor Yu Xuan clapped her hands. “How about this? Yan Zhen, you grill for us, and we’ll grill for you. After all, you’re our resident big eater.”

“I second Instructor Yu Xuan’s proposal!” Yan Meng’er exclaimed.

“I… agree as well,” Yan Ruyu added reluctantly.

“Yes, yes! Let’s do that, Cousin!”

With all three girls voicing their agreement, what else could he say?

“I suppose that works,” he grumbled. “Though this isn’t quite what I had in mind.”

Instructor Yu Xuan smiled gently. “Don’t worry about formalities, Yan Zhen. As long as everyone’s having fun. Overthinking things will just spoil the mood.”

“You’re right.” Yan Zhen rubbed his cheek sheepishly.

Their earlier awkwardness forgotten, the girls set to work with enthusiasm, brushing oil onto the grill grates and skewering ingredients with practiced ease.

Yan Meng’er was a natural. Yan Ruyu, however, seemed a bit out of her element. As for Mi Xue’er, she was clearly more interested in playing with the food than cooking it, much to Instructor Yu Xuan’s amusement.

    “Instructor, teach me!” she whined.

“Alright, alright.” Instructor Yu Xuan chuckled. “I haven’t barbecued in ages. Let’s see if I still remember how it’s done.”

And so, the head chef of their little group joined the other girls, their laughter filling the courtyard.

The four beauties, each with their unique charm, created a captivating sight as they bustled about, their heads bent in concentration.

Yan Zhen was suddenly struck by a wave of contentment. He was a lucky man.

Sure, his cousin often disrupted his acting, his other cousin seemed determined to be his nemesis, Senior Sister Xue’er enjoyed teasing him mercilessly, and Instructor Yu Xuan’s affections were rather taxing on his youthful vigor. But at the end of the day, they all cared about him.

In life, one encountered countless people, but only a precious few truly held your best interests at heart.

    Cherish those who love you.

A profound realization dawned on Yan Zhen, and his Spiritual Flame flickered momentarily above his brow before disappearing.

If he were to extend his Spiritual Perception now, he would discover that its range had increased once more.

Taking a deep breath, Yan Zhen turned his attention to the task at hand.

“Cousin, I’m done grilling the chicken wings! Try one!”

Yan Meng’er presented a skewer of chicken wings like a prized offering. Yan Zhen sprinkled on some seasoning and took a bite, the crispy skin giving way to tender, juicy meat.

“Well? How is it?” she asked expectantly.

“Not bad, but the skin could be crispier.”

Yan Meng’er’s eyes widened. “Then… then I’ll grill it a little longer. I’ll just eat this one since it’s not good enough for you.”

She took a deliberate bite from the exact spot he had just bitten, humming happily as she savored the flavor.

Yan Zhen, preoccupied with his grilling, didn’t notice, but the other three girls did. They shot Yan Meng’er scandalized looks. How could she be so shameless?

Instructor Yu Xuan, having experienced a less “innocent” version of this scenario, couldn’t help but recall the view from her previous position at Yan Zhen’s feet. Her mouth began to water, and she discreetly wiped her lips.

“Meng’er!” Yan Zhen exclaimed, quickly pulling the skewer away. “Do you want to eat it or not?”

“I do, I do!” She grabbed his hand and brought the chicken wing back to her mouth, taking a small bite. “Mmm~ As expected of Cousin! You’re the best cook!” Her tone was exaggerated, her expression deliberately cute, giving her a rather manipulative air.

Yan Zhen resisted the urge to flick her forehead.

After handing the skewer back to Yan Meng’er, he addressed the other three girls. “If you’re hungry, just grab whatever you like. I’ve grilled quite a bit already.”

The three girls approached him, skewers in hand, their expressions a mixture of anticipation and annoyance.

Yan Zhen shrank back slightly, raising his hands in surrender as he accepted their offerings. “Thank you. Just tell me what else you want, and I’ll grill it for you.”

The three girls didn’t respond. Instead, they each reached for a sausage skewer, as if by prior agreement.

Yan Zhen flushed, feeling oddly judged. It’s all my cousin’s fault!

Yan Meng’er, feigning ignorance, nibbled on her sausage, her cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk.

    Knock, knock!

The sound of the courtyard gate knocker startled them. They exchanged confused glances before Mi Xue’er hurried over to answer it.

The moment she saw who it was, she instinctively tried to shut the door.

Standing on their doorstep was none other than Xiao Xinyan.

“Can I help you?” Mi Xue’er asked coolly.

“I’m… I’m looking for Instructor Yu Xuan,” Xiao Xinyan mumbled, her head bowed. “May I… may I come in?”

Mi Xue’er stared at her, taken aback. This polite, subdued version of Xiao Xinyan was completely unfamiliar. Where was the arrogant, condescending girl who always looked down on them? Even at the Sacred Land Academy, she had remained unchanged.

Mi Xue’er studied her carefully. Even against the light, she could see the pallor of Xiao Xinyan’s face.

Then, she remembered. Today was the day Xiao Shi had drugged Xiao Xinyan and almost… It seemed the incident had shaken her more than she had anticipated.

But she didn’t recall Xiao Xinyan seeking out Instructor Yu Xuan in her previous life.

Uncertainty gnawed at her. Instead of answering, she stepped aside.

Xiao Xinyan entered, pausing briefly as she passed Mi Xue’er. As if just remembering her manners, she murmured a quiet “thank you.”

The others stared at her in surprise. Yan Zhen, in particular, felt a pang of guilt.

What is she doing here? Don’t tell me she’s here for revenge?

This wasn’t in the script… A sense of foreboding washed over him.

Xiao Xinyan walked straight towards Instructor Yu Xuan, her gaze flickering towards Yan Zhen briefly.

    “Instructor Yu Xuan.”

“Xinyan, what brings you here?” Instructor Yu Xuan frowned, concerned by the girl’s pale complexion. After all, she was still her student. “Did something happen?”

    “Instructor, I…”

Xiao Xinyan’s eyes welled up, her voice choked with emotion.

She recounted the events of that afternoon, her voice trembling as she fought back tears. By the end of her story, she was openly sobbing.

“Brother Xiao Mie took Xiao Shi back to the family estate for punishment, but… but Instructor Mo from the academy has taken an interest in his Mystic Refining talent. I’m afraid the family won’t punish him severely. They’ll just think I’m making a big deal out of nothing.”

Instructor Mo was one of the three Mystic Refiners at the academy, and the only one who had reached Tier 3. The other two were only at Tier 2.

If Instructor Mo were to take Xiao Shi on as a disciple, Xiao Shi’s status would skyrocket. He would outrank even Xiao Xinyan, who, as a girl, was expected to marry into another family eventually. Besides, she hadn’t technically been… violated.

The others listened with a mixture of pity and annoyance. As irritating as Xiao Xinyan could be, they couldn’t help but feel sorry for her predicament.

However, they all knew the situation wasn’t as dire as she feared. Instructor Mo wouldn’t take Xiao Shi as his disciple. He wasn’t at the age where he needed to find an heir to his legacy.

“Don’t worry, Xinyan. I will help you.” Instructor Yu Xuan patted her head reassuringly. “Even if your family doesn’t punish him, the academy will not tolerate such behavior. Someone with such flawed morals has no place in our institution.”

“Thank you, Instructor.” Xiao Xinyan sniffled. “But I’m still scared. I… I don’t want to stay at that house anymore. Instructor, can I… can I move in with you?”

Chapter 73: Look at Me, Look at Me!

“I don’t want to be here either,” Yan Zhen retorted, cracking his knuckles as he approached Xiao Shi. “But you, you creep, trying to drug and assault your own cousin? You’re sick! They should lock you up and throw away the key.” He adopted a heroic pose. “As a champion of justice, Yan Zhen the Great can’t simply stand by and ignore your wicked deeds… Surrender now, and perhaps I’ll go easy on you.”

“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about! Stop making things up!” Xiao Shi feigned innocence, his acting surprisingly convincing. “You’re the one trespassing! I should be the one calling the guards! L-Leave now, and I’ll pretend this never happened!”

“Seems like you won’t listen to reason. Not that I intended to let you off easy in the first place. You see, yours truly despises scumbags who drug and violate women.”

Xiao Xinyan was merely a test subject for his concentrated Dream Drop Dew. Xiao Shi’s real targets were the four academy flowers residing in his own home!

“W-what are you going to do? Stay back!”

Xiao Shi channeled his Mystic Power, even activating his wrist-mounted Mystic Tool, desperate to escape.

He had witnessed Yan Zhen’s victory over Lan Ke. Fighting him was the last thing on his mind.

Yan Zhen scoffed. With a flick of his mind, he locked onto Xiao Shi with his Spiritual Power and dashed forward, delivering a powerful punch that sent the other boy flying. Xiao Shi crashed into a tree at the edge of the courtyard, the impact nearly causing him to lose his lunch.

    “Help! Murder! Ugh…”

Yan Zhen’s foot shot out, barely missing Xiao Shi’s jaw. The impact, however, knocked the other boy unconscious.

After securing the unconscious Xiao Shi to the tree with some rope, Yan Zhen searched him, finding the remaining vials of concentrated Dream Drop Dew. He brought one to his nose, sniffing it thoughtfully.

He’s increased its potency by at least three times. This Xiao Shi really is something.

While other novice male Mystic Refiners secretly concocted aphrodisiacs, this guy had gone above and beyond, actually improving the formula and enhancing its effects. And he had succeeded! He definitely had some talent.

No wonder that Mystic Refiner from the academy had taken an interest in Xiao Shi’s talent and offered to take him on as a disciple. Too bad his morals were rotten. Once this incident came to light, that Mystic Refiner wouldn’t touch him with a ten-foot pole.

Yan Zhen pocketed the concentrated Dream Drop Dew. He wanted to study it further. It might prove useful for future scripted scenarios.

Returning to the window, he could hear Xiao Xinyan’s moans growing louder.

Dream Drop Dew was originally intended to enhance a woman’s pleasure. The concentrated version Xiao Shi had concocted, however, was far more potent. Pleasuring herself wasn’t going to be enough.

To alleviate her current predicament, she either needed a man to keep her occupied for an hour or something to purge the drug’s effects from her system.

With a soft thud, Yan Zhen channeled his Mystic Power, effortlessly removing the window frame thanks to his precise control. A folding screen had been erected inside the room, concealing the source of the moans.

She’s quite the screamer, Yan Zhen thought wryly as he peered around the screen.

Xiao Xinyan was sprawled in the bathtub, her back against one side, legs spread wide open, and both hands moving furiously between them. Her eyes were tightly shut, her breath coming in short, desperate gasps, her face flushed crimson.

Though her personality left much to be desired, there was no denying Xiao Xinyan was attractive. In terms of looks and figure, she was only slightly outmatched by the four academy flowers.

Seeing her in such a compromising position, it would be a lie to say Yan Zhen was completely unaffected.

However, he quickly regained his composure and approached her, his expression carefully neutral. He gently patted her cheek.

    “Hey, Miss High-and-Mighty, wake up.”

Xiao Xinyan weakly shook her head, her breath hitching as she mumbled, “Xiao Shi, get away from me! If you come any closer, I’ll have Brother Xiao Mie break your legs! You’re disgusting! I’d rather die than let you touch me! Get out!”

Huh… I thought they were close. So this was how she truly felt?

Yan Zhen’s expression turned strange. “It’s me, Yan Zhen. Xiao Shi is tied up outside.”

“Yan Zhen?” Xiao Xinyan paused, turning her head to look at the young man standing beside the tub. Her eyes slowly focused on him. “You’re Yan Zhen? What are you doing here? Is this a hallucination?”

    “No, it’s not a hallucination.”

His words, however, seemed to fall on deaf ears.

“Damn it… why am I thinking about that brat at a time like this… No! I won’t do it with him watching… But why does it feel even better? Ah… Don’t look at me. Go look at Yan Ruyu and Mi Xue’er. I’m not as pretty as them anyway… They always get all the good stuff, even a handsome junior like you… Even though they’re just useless vases… Ah… I want to be looked at too! Look at me! Look at me, Junior! Look at me, look at me, ah…”

Her words ended in a gasp as a tremor ran through her body. Yet, she couldn’t stop. The drug’s effects still had a hold on her.

If this continued, it could cause serious damage, potentially even fatal.

Yan Zhen grabbed her arms, forcefully pulling her hands from the water. He then used a garment hanging on the screen to tie her hands behind her back, preventing her from harming herself further.

Xiao Xinyan thrashed against his hold, her muffled cries echoing in the small room. Her hips bucked, sending waves of water sloshing over the edge of the tub, soaking his clothes.

“Stop it! Calm down and listen to me!” Yan Zhen’s voice hardened.

His words only seemed to agitate her further. Her legs, still dangling over the edge of the tub, rubbed together restlessly.

“Give it to me… give it to me…” she whimpered.

Taking a page from his protagonist playbook, Yan Zhen delivered a swift slap to her face.

    Slap!

The sharp sound seemed to jolt Xiao Xinyan back to reality. She gasped, her eyes widening as she stared up at him in a daze.

This woman… she was a bit of a masochist. She had a terrible temper and a sharp tongue, but once she was put in her place, she became surprisingly docile, like a tamed puppy. In the context of the story, she was a classic tsundere.

“You’ve been drugged with a concentrated version of Dream Drop Dew,” he said calmly. “It’s a powerful aphrodisiac designed for women. There are two ways to resolve this. Either we find a man to help you out for an hour or you take this pill, and I use my cultivation to purge the drug’s effects from your system. Which will it be? If you don’t answer, I’ll assume you choose the latter.”

Xiao Xinyan, her hands still bound behind her, nodded weakly.

Yan Zhen swiftly retrieved a “Detoxification Pill” from his storage ring. It was capable of neutralizing the effects of most Tier 1 pills.

    “Open up.”

Without waiting for a response, he pinched her jaw, forcing her mouth open. He popped the pill inside, then scooped some water from the tub and made her swallow.

Brushing aside the flower petals floating on the water’s surface, Yan Zhen placed his hand on Xiao Xinyan’s abdomen and began to channel his Mystic Power, guiding the detoxification process.

Chapter 72: Yan Zhen, What Are You Doing Here?

Returning to his room, Yan Zhen collapsed onto his bed and let out a melancholic sigh.

Instructor Yu Xuan’s feelings for him were undeniable. However, no matter how hard he racked his brain, he couldn’t fathom why she would be attracted to him.

The heroic rescue scene from the script hadn’t even happened yet. He hadn’t made any moves on Instructor Yu Xuan since enrolling. Besides, she wasn’t the type of woman easily swayed by romantic advances. Otherwise, some love-struck expert would have swept her off her feet long ago.

The only unusual event between them was the initial bathroom mishap.

To apologize, Yan Zhen had gifted her the Snow Wind Pearl and a vial of Ice Condensation Dew.

Unfortunately, this led to him accidentally uncovering one of her private hobbies. In a moment of shared awkwardness, he confessed his own preferences, only to be misunderstood as being incredibly “thirsty,” which resulted in their agreement for “special tutoring.”

Carefully retracing his steps, Yan Zhen concluded that the root of the problem likely stemmed from his confession that day. However, he couldn’t recall the specifics of what he had said.

    System.

    […]

    Hello? System?

After two attempts, a sound akin to a computer booting up echoed in his mind.

Was this system really as intelligent as it claimed to be?

[System online. How may I assist you, Host?]

Do you have a dialogue playback function?

[Affirmative. The system records the Host’s actions and dialogue, constantly comparing and correcting them against the script. Which time period would you like to review?]

Yan Zhen thought for a moment before stating the specific time.

It should be the evening of the third day after I enrolled.

[Acknowledged. Retrieving data… Retrieval complete. The following is a record of your dialogue from that evening.]

Yan Zhen scanned the lengthy text displayed on the system interface, quickly locating the words he had spoken.

(“…After all, I have a thing for older women, especially mature beauties like you, Instructor. You perfectly match my preferences!”)

“As I suspected, those words were easily misconstrued. Instructor Yu Xuan could have very well interpreted that as a confession.”

Being the kind and gentle soul she was, and with this being her first time taking on a male disciple, she was likely caught off guard by his confession.

To help him focus on his cultivation, she proposed the special tutoring sessions.

And somewhere along the way, she developed feelings for him. After all, Instructor Yu Xuan had no prior experience with romance.

It sounded far-fetched, but he was currently playing the role of the protagonist in this world, possessing an aura that naturally attracted women. Even though this was a “no-female-lead, wish fulfillment story,” it didn’t prevent the women around him from developing feelings for him.

Like his cousin, for example. Her “step-sibling” tendencies were becoming increasingly apparent. He wouldn’t be surprised if she climbed on top of him one day while he slept.

Although he now understood the situation, Yan Zhen’s heart remained heavy.

It seemed he had inadvertently “led on” Instructor Yu Xuan, resulting in their current predicament.

Meaning he shouldered the majority of the blame.

But he couldn’t reciprocate her feelings, at least not now.

According to the script, there were only two women he was destined to be with, and Instructor Yu Xuan wasn’t one of them.

He couldn’t keep stringing her along, enjoying her affections while feigning ignorance.

    That would be utterly despicable.

In all honesty, Yan Zhen genuinely liked Instructor Yu Xuan. Whether as her disciple or as a man, he didn’t want to hurt her.

“It seems I really need to talk to her.”

    The question was, how?

Instructor, you misunderstood. I wasn’t actually confessing my feelings. You don’t have to like me back. Because there’s no future for us?

    That was way too awkward!

Only a card-carrying member of the “Cringelord Society” would ever utter those words.

And what if, by some chance, Instructor Yu Xuan didn’t actually have feelings for him? What if she was simply trying to guide a promising disciple down the right path? Wouldn’t he just come across as incredibly self-absorbed?

Distance myself from her? Reject her kindness? Make my intentions clear?

Thinking back to his cousin’s heartbroken reaction, Yan Zhen knew that wouldn’t be fair to either of them.

Besides, he and Instructor Yu Xuan still had scenes together at the Sacred Land Academy. If their relationship soured now, it would disrupt the plot.

“Argh, this is so frustrating! System, any helpful advice?”

[Ding! Helpful System Tip: As long as the Host doesn’t initiate and doesn’t refuse, you are not obligated to take responsibility.]

Yan Zhen’s expression instantly turned flat. In a monotone, he replied, “You know, in some cultures, that kind of advice would get you drowned in a pig cage.”

It seemed seeking relationship advice from a system with the emotional intelligence of a brick was futile.

“Let’s just focus on finishing the academy arc for now. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”

His biggest fear was succumbing to Instructor Yu Xuan’s charm, falling into her arms and deviating from his protagonist persona.

    He had to stay strong!

    He needed an iron will!

System, show me “How the Steel Was Tempered!”

    [Acknowledged.]

The system interface promptly displayed the process of steel forging. Clang, clang, clang! A hammer pounded against a red-hot piece of iron, powerful and awe-inspiring.

    “…”

Physical steel forging wasn’t quite what he had in mind. He wasn’t planning on embarking on a technological farming route.

Yan Zhen decided to seek out his Beautiful Sect Master for their next scripted interaction.

Just as he was about to activate his Star Shifting Fire Seal, he remembered. During his bath, Instructor Yu Xuan had showered his neck, shoulders, and ears with kisses, likely leaving behind plenty of evidence.

He checked his reflection in the mirror. As expected, several telltale marks were clearly visible.

If his Beautiful Sect Master saw those, he would be in deep trouble.

Yan Zhen channeled his Mystic Power, massaging the skin around his neck to erase the evidence before entering the Crystal Stone Space.

This feels strangely like cheating on your girlfriend.

Stepping into the Fire Refining Starry Sky, Yan Zhen was once again struck by the sight of the towering pillars surrounding the plaza and the blazing stars beyond. It was a breathtaking spectacle.

Of course, nothing captivated him more than the sight of his Beautiful Sect Master at the center of the altar.

Silver hair, ample bosom, bare feet, mature beauty.

His Beautiful Sect Master was the best in the world!

    “Master.”

Yan Zhen greeted her with utmost respect.

Although their relationship had grown intimate, she was still his master, and he would not neglect proper decorum.

Chen Xi opened her eyes, her gaze settling on him. “Zhen’er, is your arm feeling better?”

“Thanks to the miraculous medicine you gave me yesterday, Master, it’s almost fully healed. It’s just still a little weak.”

The memory of the milky taste in his mouth that morning resurfaced, stirring a strange feeling within him.

Chen Xi felt her own cheeks warming. The experience had been a first for her, akin to a maternal instinct, yet different from the pleasure she felt during their dual cultivation sessions. It was a happiness that enveloped her entirely, a desire to lose herself in that moment, as if her mind and body had been enthralled by his gentle suckling.

“Ahem, in that case, we’ll continue your alchemy lessons once your arm has fully recovered. For today, I’ll teach you a mental Mystic Technique that doesn’t require the use of your hands.”

Yan Zhen’s eyes lit up. “A mental Mystic Technique?”

“That’s right. Like Mystic Power, Spiritual Power also has cultivation techniques and skills. The ‘Ancestral Talisman Scripture’ is a cultivation technique. While it does possess offensive capabilities, it’s not something you can grasp at your current level. We need to start with the basics.”

“I understand. Please, Master, teach me.”

Chen Xi nodded slightly and began her lesson. “Although you possess Spiritual Power now, Zhen’er, you are only using it to control your Mystic Power and muscles. You haven’t tapped into its greatest potential—its sensory abilities. What I’m going to teach you is the technique for expanding your Spiritual Power and integrating your perception with it.”

    [Ding! Key plot point commencing.]

Before the system could finish its announcement, Yan Zhen swatted the notification away from his face and focused intently on his Beautiful Sect Master’s instructions.

“Your Spiritual Power was born from the foundation of the Fire Talisman. Imagine it as a spark, spreading with the wind, gradually transforming into a boundless inferno, engulfing everything in its path. In this way, your Spiritual Power can naturally extend outwards.”

    Yan Zhen nodded thoughtfully.

“For your first attempt at extending your Spiritual Power, you’ll need to maintain a calm mind for one to two hours. The range will be limited at first. Encompassing a ten-meter radius around your body is considered a pass. However, your soul is naturally powerful, Zhen’er. I estimate you should be able to reach at least thirty meters.”

Following his master’s guidance, Yan Zhen attempted to extend his Spiritual Power, integrating his perception with it.

He quickly succeeded, but the range was limited, barely reaching a meter around him.

His Beautiful Sect Master had estimated he could reach over thirty meters, and the script mentioned forty-nine meters.

He continued to extend his Spiritual Power outwards, forming an invisible barrier. One meter, two meters… ten meters… twenty meters… forty meters… forty-nine meters!

There! Just as he was about to withdraw, he realized his Spiritual Power still had room to grow.

Fifty meters… sixty meters… ninety meters… His Spiritual Power finally came to a halt, encompassing a radius of one hundred meters!

Within his perception, the surrounding hundred meters pulsed with incredibly pure Heavenly and Earthly Mystic Power, each strand shimmering with a rainbow of colors.

His Beautiful Sect Master appeared as a silhouette of pure, white light, a five-colored flame flickering within her lower abdomen.

Unaware of her disciple’s astonishment, Chen Xi’s eyes widened. Despite her Half-Saint cultivation and mastery over her emotions, she couldn’t help but feel a surge of disbelief.

Impossible! In his previous life, Zhen’er’s initial range was only forty-nine meters, a far cry from her own eighty-one meters at his age. She had even teased him about it back then. How could it have doubled?

According to her knowledge, the most powerful Mystic Refiner in history, a being naturally gifted with exceptional Spiritual Power, had only managed to achieve a range of one hundred and one meters on their first attempt. Could Yan Zhen truly rival such a legend?

Yan Zhen opened his eyes, excitement bubbling over. “Master, I did it! I… Master, what’s wrong?”

He immediately noticed the stunned expression on his Beautiful Sect Master’s face.

Chen Xi quickly composed herself, schooling her features into a serious mask. “Zhen’er, your initial Spiritual Power range has reached an astonishing one hundred meters. This is practically unheard of, possibly even the second highest in recorded history. Until you are strong enough to protect yourself, you must never speak of this to anyone, lest you attract unwanted attention. Do you understand?”

    “Yes, Master.”

“Master is not trying to frighten you. There is a faction in the Mystic Heavenly Continent known as the ‘Demon Realm.’ They are sworn enemies of the Azure Lotus(Jia Lan) Sacred Land. If they were to discover your existence, Zhen’er, they would stop at nothing to either capture you or eliminate you.”

“I understand, Master. I will heed your warning.”

Yan Zhen was well aware of the Demon Realm. It was a massive, terrifying organization with a presence in all seven continents. Its members were all evil cultivators, devoid of morals and known for their brutal acts. They thought nothing of slaughtering entire cities and villages to fuel their cultivation. Due to their wicked cultivation techniques, many of them had been twisted into grotesque mockeries of human beings.

The master of the Demon Realm was a truly vile and powerful entity, as cunning as he was ruthless.

In the final battle of his previous life, Yan Zhen had shattered the Demon Realm Master’s physical body and destroyed his soul, leaving only a sliver of his essence to escape the Mystic Heavenly Continent and flee to the realms beyond.

The story ended there, so it was unclear whether Yan Zhen had remained in the Mystic Heavenly Continent to enjoy his well-deserved glory or if he had pursued the Demon Realm Master to conquer new territories in the vast unknown.

He was getting ahead of himself.

In the script, his master hadn’t revealed this information at this point in the story. His Spiritual Power was supposed to stop at nineteen meters.

“There, there. You’ve just pushed your Spiritual Power to its limit. It’s natural to feel a bit dizzy. Would you like Master to massage your head for you?”

Now that she mentioned it, Yan Zhen did feel a slight dizziness, but it wasn’t severe. He could recover with a bit of rest.

However… Gazing at his Beautiful Sect Master’s breathtaking beauty and alluring smile, he couldn’t resist the temptation of her gentle touch. With a blush warming his cheeks, he nodded.

    “Yes, please, Master.”

Chen Xi chuckled softly. She shifted from her meditative position to a kneeling posture, patting her thighs invitingly.

    “Come here then.”

Yan Zhen shuffled over to his Beautiful Sect Master and leaned back, resting his head upon her lap.

Her thighs were soft and yielding, their warmth spreading through him. He instinctively nuzzled closer, closing his eyes as he surrendered to her touch.

Emerging from the Crystal Stone Space, Yan Zhen was still in high spirits. The system interface, however, had other plans. It materialized abruptly, practically slapping him in the face.

[Ding! Friendly System Reminder: Mission incomplete. Please do not slack off, Host.]

Yan Zhen glanced at the notification. Besides extending his Spiritual Power beyond ten meters, his current objective also included “Preventing Xiao Shi from drugging and assaulting Xiao Xinyan.”

    Right, right.

He dismissed the system interface. The thought of being drenched by Xiao Xinyan’s bathwater didn’t exactly thrill him.

He checked his clothes. Fortunately, he wasn’t wearing his favorite outfit.

Closing his eyes, he extended his Spiritual Perception. The world around him became transparent, every object within range taking shape as a distinct outline within his mind.

With his current Soul Realm cultivation, he could only perceive outlines, not specific details.

He focused his Spiritual Perception towards the backstreets, quickly locating a shadowy figure lurking beneath a window, eavesdropping on the sounds from within.

Inside, Xiao Xinyan was taking a bath. Having already succumbed to the effects of the concentrated Dream Drop Dew, she was sprawled in a tub filled with flower petals, her breathing ragged and punctuated by soft moans. Both her hands were submerged in the water, indicating she had already begun pleasuring herself.

Why they couldn’t have waited until after class to act out their little scenario, he had no idea. Now, he had to play the role of the unwelcome savior.

Yan Zhen slipped out of his room, leaping onto the roof and using the rooftops to reach the Xiao family’s residence in the backstreets. He dropped down just as Xiao Shi was impatiently trying to pry open the window, intent on entering his cousin’s room and having his way with her.

    “Hey!”

Yan Zhen delivered a swift kick to Xiao Shi’s backside, sending him sprawling. “What do you think you’re doing?”

Xiao Shi whirled around, his face contorted with rage, only to freeze when he saw who had interrupted him.

“Yan Zhen? What… what are you doing here?!”

Chapter 71: Instructor Yu Xuan’s Care

Yan Zhen had never tasted such a delicious medicinal liquid. He couldn’t help but take a few extra sips.

The potent medicinal power rapidly healed his injuries. Coupled with his Beautiful Sect Master’s soft, delicate hands gently massaging his stomach, his entire being relaxed. The day’s fatigue transformed into overwhelming drowsiness, and he drifted off to sleep.

His steady breaths brushed against Chen Xi’s chest, causing her cheeks to flush.

Gazing down at Yan Zhen’s sleeping face, Chen Xi gently withdrew her hand from his head and slowly straightened her back.

A palm-sized Mystic Refining formation flashed across her chest, halting the tingling sensation.

She examined Yan Zhen’s right arm. Full recovery would take some time. She carefully re-bandaged his arm, ensuring his meridians healed correctly.

With the treatment complete, Chen Xi’s thoughts shifted. Her doctor attire dissolved into specks of Mystic Power, dispersing like fireflies. Her pristine, flawless body materialized atop the altar, soon draped once more in her flowing black robes, concealing her beauty.

The infirmary setting vanished like an illusion, reverting to the familiar altar chamber.

Chen Xi lingered for a moment, her gaze lingering on Yan Zhen’s sleeping face. She bent down and planted a light kiss on his forehead before returning him to his bed in the outer room.

As much as she wanted to keep him by her side, she knew that with him injured, the other girls would undoubtedly visit. It wouldn’t do for them to discover his absence and cause a stir.

Besides, she had accomplished what she set out to do, and her beloved disciple’s reaction had left her feeling deeply satisfied.

Yan Zhen dreamt he was scaling a snow-capped mountain. The path was covered in knee-deep snow, soft and slippery, making his ascent arduous.

He persevered, finally reaching the summit. There, amidst the icy expanse, a lone cherry blossom tree bloomed in vibrant defiance. As the wind swept through its branches, countless petals danced in the air, a breathtaking spectacle.

He climbed the cherry blossom tree, reaching its very top. There, nestled amongst the blossoms, lay a tiny ruby, no bigger than his fingertip, from which flowed a milky-white, ethereal spring.

Parched and weary from his climb, Yan Zhen leaned towards the spring. Opening his mouth wide, he covered the spring’s opening and drank deeply.

The liquid was warm, fragrant, and slightly sweet, reminiscent of something he had recently consumed.

The ethereal spring instantly rejuvenated him, banishing his exhaustion and invigorating him.

    He woke with a start.

Blinking, he took in the familiar bedframe and gauzy curtains, his senses slowly returning.

The pain in his right arm was gone, replaced by a slight stiffness.

His Beautiful Sect Master’s healing medicine was truly remarkable! His arm had recovered faster than described in the script. He wasn’t sure if this was a good or bad thing.

Of course, he didn’t enjoy being in pain for days on end, but every time events deviated from the script, a sense of unease settled upon him.

    He was overthinking things.

Yan Zhen stifled a yawn. As he did, a faint hint of sweet milk lingered in his breath.

A hazy memory surfaced, causing him to furrow his brow. He concentrated, trying to recall last night’s events.

That sensation… could it be that the medicine he took last night was… No, impossible!

    Creak.

The door opened, and Instructor Yu Xuan entered. She swept aside the beaded curtain and beamed when she saw Yan Zhen sitting up in bed. She hurried over to his side.

“You’re awake, Yan Zhen. How are you feeling?”

Yan Zhen smiled faintly and made a fist with his right hand. “It’s almost fully healed, just a little weak still. I should be fine after another day of rest… What about class? Has it already started?”

“Yes, the other three have already gone to the academy. It’s my turn to stay and look after you.” Instructor Yu Xuan’s voice was gentle. “Don’t worry about the academy. Since you’re going to skip ahead to the Advanced Class, missing a few Intermediate Class lessons won’t matter.”

    “Thank you, Instructor.”

“Don’t mention it. I’m your instructor. It’s my responsibility… You must be hungry! I’ve saved you some breakfast. I’ll go heat it up and bring it over.”

As Instructor Yu Xuan turned to leave, Yan Zhen stopped her. “Wait, Instructor Yu Xuan, I’d like to take a bath first. I didn’t get a chance yesterday. Sleeping in my clothes has left me feeling sticky and uncomfortable.”

“Ah, of course. Then, then I’ll help you wash up.” Instructor Yu Xuan blurted out, her cheeks flushing crimson as soon as the words left her mouth. She quickly added, “Your right hand is still bandaged, after all. It wouldn’t be convenient for you to move around too much.”

What? Yan Zhen hadn’t intended for her to help him at all. While his right hand wasn’t very mobile, he still had his left. Taking a bath wasn’t that difficult.

He had simply meant that she didn’t need to bring him breakfast; he would eat after he finished bathing.

It seemed his words had been misconstrued by the ever-so-kind Instructor Yu Xuan. He had to clear this up immediately. If he let her help him bathe, there was no guarantee he could keep his composure.

Yan Zhen swiftly raised his left hand. “Instructor, I can manage on my own. I still have my left hand. Taking a bath won’t be a problem.”

“Don’t be silly. How can you wash properly with only one hand? Let me help you.” Instructor Yu Xuan said shyly. “Besides, I worked up a sweat making breakfast. I wouldn’t mind a soak myself… Come on.”

With that, she took Yan Zhen’s hand and led him towards the bathroom.

Yan Zhen was at a loss for words, following meekly behind her.

He could have refused her help by forcefully pulling his hand away, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. Instructor Yu Xuan’s kindness towards him was undeniable. He didn’t want to hurt her feelings or reject her good intentions.

They entered the changing room, the air thick with the scent of soap, creating an unexpectedly intimate atmosphere.

Instructor Yu Xuan’s voice was hushed. “Don’t move. I’ll help you undress.”

Yan Zhen’s face turned beet red. He mumbled an agreement, his body stiff as a board.

He was dressed in his Mystic Academy summer uniform. He had already removed his outer robe earlier when his wounds were being treated, leaving him in his short-sleeved tunic and trousers.

Standing before him, Instructor Yu Xuan unbuttoned the two buttons at his collar like a doting wife. Then, she instructed him to raise his arms so she could help him pull off his tunic. She squatted down, her hands gripping his waistband as she slowly pulled his trousers down to his calves, urging him to lift his legs so she could remove them entirely.

Stripped of his outer garments, Yan Zhen stood in his boxers, which featured a pattern of adorable little elephants with long trunks.

Instructor Yu Xuan bit her lip, her hand hovering as if to continue. Yan Zhen quickly intervened.

“Instructor, I can handle this myself. Could you please turn around?”

    “Ah, yes, of course.”

Instructor Yu Xuan turned away, moving towards a corner where cleaning supplies were stored. However, her gaze seemed magnetized, repeatedly drawn back to Yan Zhen.

After quickly finishing undressing, Yan Zhen grabbed a towel to wrap around his waist. “I’ll go in first,” he muttered before hurrying through the bathroom door.

Watching his flustered retreat, Instructor Yu Xuan chuckled softly, her eyes brimming with tenderness.

With a moment’s hesitation, she began to shed her own layers – her instructor’s robes, inner garments, and under-robe, one by one. Then, she picked up a large towel and wrapped it around her voluptuous figure before stepping barefoot into the bathroom.

Yan Zhen was already beneath the running shower, enjoying the warmth of the water cascading over him.

He pushed his wet hair back from his forehead, revealing his smooth features. This more mature hairstyle, juxtaposed with his youthful, handsome face, created an endearing contrast that sent a pleasant shiver down Instructor Yu Xuan’s spine.

    “Yan Zhen.”

She approached him and called his name. He turned, wiping the water from his face.

Their eyes met, and both of their hearts skipped a beat.

    Yan Zhen averted his gaze.

Although Instructor Yu Xuan’s towel was large, it only covered half of her body, from her chest to her hips, leaving the rest exposed before him.

Her delicate neck, graceful shoulders, and the tantalizing curve of cleavage peeking above her towel, along with her long, slender legs and dainty feet, all painted a captivating picture that set his young heart racing.

“Instructor Yu Xuan, I think I’ll wash myself after all. Look, it’s no problem.”

He demonstrated by awkwardly trying to gather his wet hair with his left hand.

“I already told you, I’ll help you. Now sit down.”

Instructor Yu Xuan turned off the shower and gently but firmly pressed Yan Zhen down onto a small stool.

Unable to refuse her, Yan Zhen obeyed. Internally, he began chanting the “Original Clear Heart Mantra,” desperately trying to prevent himself, or rather, his “unruly dragon,” from making a scene.

Instructor Yu Xuan sensed his shyness and nervousness, which mirrored her own. This shared emotion sparked a flicker of joy within her heart, as if their hearts were connected.

Kneeling behind him, she picked up a bar of soap and began to lather his back with careful, gentle strokes, covering his entire back and his free left hand with fragrant bubbles. Then, she placed the soap in his left hand, letting him wash his chest and legs.

Once he was sufficiently lathered, Instructor Yu Xuan picked up a washcloth and began to scrub his back, her movements thorough and attentive.

The water from the cloth mixed with the soap, creating more and more fragrant bubbles that threatened to engulf her hand.

Though this was her first time bathing another person, she had diligently researched the proper technique beforehand. Her initial awkwardness gave way to practiced confidence as she became engrossed in her task.

“How does it feel, Yan Zhen? Does it hurt?”

Yan Zhen, lost in the bliss of being pampered, opened his eyes at her question. “No, it feels very comfortable. The pressure is just right.”

    “Good, I’m glad.”

Pleased by his praise, Instructor Yu Xuan continued with even greater care.

“If it hurts at all, just tell me, and I’ll be gentler.”

    “Okay.”

“What is it? What’s wrong?” She slowed her movements, her voice laced with concern. “Do you think I’m being too meddlesome? Am I bothering you?”

“Not at all.” Yan Zhen rubbed his cheek sheepishly. “It’s just that… you’re being too kind to me, Instructor. I… I don’t know how to repay you.”

Instructor Yu Xuan paused, then chuckled softly. “Just focus on your cultivation and win first place a few more times. Helping me earn a bonus and bragging rights would be the best way to repay me.”

“That’s not really repayment. Cultivation is my own responsibility. I would do it even without your guidance… As for the monthly assessments and the Nine Star Rank, I will strive for first place, of course.”

“Good attitude. I’m very pleased. If only Xue’er and the others were as motivated as you.”

“Well, everyone has different aspirations. Perhaps Senior Sister Xue’er has something even more important to her.”

“They’re not that profound. Out of the three, Ruyu is the most diligent. Xue’er and Meng’er are both masters of procrastination. They only move when you’re about to crack the whip.”

He wasn’t familiar enough with Mi Xue’er to comment, but Yan Meng’er certainly fit that description.

Unwilling to gossip about the three girls in front of Instructor Yu Xuan, lest they retaliate later, Yan Zhen steered the conversation in another direction. “Instructor Yu Xuan, did you have a specific goal in mind when you came here to teach from the Sacred Land Academy?”

“Yes, I need to successfully guide at least one student to graduation.”

“Then, you’ll achieve your goal very soon.” Yan Zhen spoke with absolute confidence. “Because I’ll be graduating soon. When that happens, Instructor will have accomplished your teaching objective.”

“If anyone else said such a thing, I wouldn’t believe them, but coming from you, Yan Zhen, I’m actually looking forward to it.”

After all, Yan Zhen was on track to be the fastest graduating student in the history of Silver Moon City Mystic Academy, poised to complete his studies in a mere six months.

Instructor Yu Xuan smiled, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear with a foam-covered hand before resuming washing his back.

Having finished with his back, Instructor Yu Xuan leaned forward slightly, her washcloth reaching under his arm to cleanse his chest.

Yan Zhen’s body tensed. She was so close that he could feel the gentle weight of her ample bosom pressing against his back. The thin towel did little to disguise her incredible softness.

Seemingly oblivious to his reaction, she continued to move the washcloth across his chest with one hand while the other rested on his shoulder for support. With each movement, the pressure against his back intensified, then eased, sending shivers down his spine.

Yan Zhen swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry. The “dragon” beneath his towel, previously subdued, began to stir.

Calm down, man! What are you thinking? he chastised himself. Instructor Yu Xuan is being kind enough to help you bathe because of your injury. How can you disrespect her with such impure thoughts? Remember who you are!

Yan Zhen berated himself, forcing his blood flow away from certain areas. He slowly regained his composure.

Whew… As expected of me! After experiencing the baptism of the world’s peak multiple times, I still possess some self-control.

Just then, Instructor Yu Xuan’s hand slipped, and the washcloth tumbled to the floor with a soft plop.

“Oh dear, I’m so sorry. My hand is a little slippery…”

    “Don’t worry, I’ll get it.”

“Your hand… let me get it.”

As she spoke, Instructor Yu Xuan reached down to retrieve the fallen washcloth.

    *No! *

Yan Zhen’s eyes widened, and he sucked in a sharp breath. His hard-won composure shattered.

“Instructor, you… you’re mistaken. The washcloth is on the floor.” His voice trembled slightly.

Instructor Yu Xuan didn’t respond. Instead, her hand, now clutching something decidedly not the washcloth, continued to move across his chest, her motions slow and deliberate.

    “Ins- Instructor?”

“Holding back isn’t good for you. Releasing it will make you feel better.” Her voice was calm and even, but her face, hidden against his back, burned with a furious blush. “Let me help you.”

    “!!!”

Yan Zhen emerged from the bathroom with shaky legs. Faint, pink marks, like blooming strawberries, adorned his neck and shoulders.

Instructor Yu Xuan, her face flushed with satisfaction, served him his reheated breakfast, having thoughtfully prepared two extra dishes.

After he finished eating, Instructor Yu Xuan ordered him back to bed to rest while she left for the academy.

Chapter 70: Beautiful Sect Master’s Healing Treasure

Yan Zhen cheerfully accepted the Special Trump Card and then channeled his Mystic Power into the Star Shifting Fire Seal on his palm, stepping into the Crystal Stone Space.

The scenery shifted. Yan Zhen found himself within the altar chamber, more specifically, atop the raised stone bed at the center.

He sat there, blinking in confusion. The surroundings were different than usual.

The stone bed was now adorned with a white mattress and pillows, resembling a hospital bed in size and design. A curved, U-shaped stand rose from the headboard, from which hung emerald green curtains. When drawn closed, they could completely enclose the bed.

    “Master?”

Yan Zhen called out. His Beautiful Sect Master emerged from behind the curtain. Gone were her usual flowing black robes, replaced instead with a modern style somewhat similar to her previous “mature teacher” attire.

She wore a pencil skirt, black silk stockings, and high heels. A delicate strap connected the hem of her skirt to her stockings, exuding an alluring yet elegant charm. Her upper body was clad in a green turtleneck sweater, the fabric stretched taut by her ample bosom, hinting at its impressive volume. A white coat, extending to her knees, draped over everything, adding a touch of professionalism.

She wore no unnecessary accessories, save for a blue hair tie securing the end of her silver-white hair. Oval-shaped glasses perched on her delicate nose bridge, and a stethoscope hung from her slender, jade-like neck.

The spitting image of a two-dimensional anime doctor.

    “Mas- Master?”

Yan Zhen stared at his master, his mind a jumbled mess.

Why was his Beautiful Sect Master dressed in modern clothing again? Where did she even get these clothes? And why this particular style?

Though he couldn’t quite understand, he had to admit, his Beautiful Sect Master’s outfit was very much to his liking. The combination of black silk stockings, a garter belt, and a white coat was simply too good! Innocent yet alluring, it stirred a certain urge within him!

    “Zhen’er, you’re injured. Lie down.”

His Beautiful Sect Master—no, his Beautiful Doctor—smiled gently at him. Her shapely hips, accentuated by the pencil skirt, brushed against the edge of the bed as she reached out with a pale, delicate hand to guide his shoulder, helping him lie down.

Yan Zhen obediently settled onto the bed, his fiery gaze filled with curiosity as he stared at his Beautiful Sect Master, somewhat dazed.

“Master, why, why are you dressed like this?”

His disciple’s reaction didn’t escape her notice. Seeing his pleased expression, her heart fluttered with honeyed sweetness. It was worth the effort she had put into her appearance and the room’s arrangement.

She had initially considered creating an avatar dressed as a “nurse,” but it felt somewhat strange, so she decided against it for now.

“Doesn’t Master look good in this?”

She countered with a smile. Yan Zhen immediately replied, “You look good, very good! Master looks good in anything!”

“Flattery won’t get you any rewards.”

Chen Xi basked in her disciple’s admiring gaze, trying hard to maintain a calm facade and suppress her joy. She reached out to unwrap the bandages from his arm.

“Zhen’er, did you use the Triple Burst ‘Eight Extremes Explosion’ during the duel?”

“Uh, yes, Master,” Yan Zhen blinked, bracing himself for a scolding. “The power of the Double Burst wasn’t enough to penetrate his armor and deliver a finishing blow, so I used the full-powered Triple Burst.”

    “Reckless.”

Chen Xi’s reprimand was brief. Her gaze softened as she examined his swollen arm, her heart aching for him. She extended a slender finger and gently pressed on his muscles.

    Yan Zhen hissed in pain.

Although he had consumed the Tier 3 Healing Pill, he hadn’t circulated his energy to refine it, so its natural efficacy wasn’t enough to completely numb the pain.

Despite hearing her disciple’s sharp intake of breath, Chen Xi didn’t relent. A five-colored flame ignited on her fingertips, gently brushing against Yan Zhen’s forearm.

Yan Zhen felt as if his arm had been plunged into ice water. The burning pain subsided significantly. As expected of one of the top ten healing Extreme Flames!

His Beautiful Sect Master’s hand, radiating a gentle, colorful flame, massaged his arm with soothing motions, bringing him immense relief.

“Master has used the Starry Glass Fire to alleviate your injuries. However, for a speedy recovery, you’ll need to consume a Healing Pill of Tier 3 or higher…”

Yan Zhen truthfully replied, “Master, I’ve already taken a Tier 3 Healing Pill. Xue’er, Senior Sister Xue’er, gave it to me.”

Chen Xi was surprised. In Yan Zhen’s previous life, he had followed her instructions to purchase the necessary ingredients from the Gold and Jade Chamber of Commerce, which she then refined into a Tier 3 Healing Pill for him. How had he already consumed one?

    “Senior Sister Xue’er?”

“Yes, Xue’er… she’s best friends with my cousin and my other cousin’s wife. She’s also the owner of the house I’m staying at. We’re on rather good terms.”

“Oh? Good enough for her to gift you a Tier 3 pill?”

“She, she said she has a favor to ask of me, so this was like paying me in advance.”

“I see.” Chen Xi’s smile returned. “What kind of pill did she give you?”

“Uh, I think it was called the ‘Inner Revitalization Pill’.”

“Inner Revitalization Pill? That’s a high-grade Tier 3 Healing Pill, a good choice. However, the Inner Revitalization Pill focuses on healing internal injuries to the organs. Its effectiveness on meridian damage caused by excessive use of the ‘Eight Extremes Explosion’ is not as pronounced.”

“Is that so?” Yan Zhen blinked, feigning ignorance, though his heart leaped. Was the plot back on track? This was good! “Then, then I’ll go to the Gold and Jade Chamber of Commerce later to buy some Tier 3 ingredients, and Master can help me refine one, right? Please?”

Chen Xi shook her head gently. “No need. Master has already prepared medicine for your injuries.”

    Huh?

His Beautiful Sect Master was always prepared! Truly a master who loved and cared for him!

Though he was slightly disappointed that the plot hadn’t gone exactly as planned, Yan Zhen was also happy to be so doted on by his Beautiful Sect Master.

    “Master, give me the medicine~”

Lying on the bed, Yan Zhen acted like a spoiled child, his long eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings. His adorable demeanor almost broke Chen Xi’s composure. She cleared her throat to regain control, a blush warming her cheeks.

    “Zhen’er, close your eyes.”

Yan Zhen obediently closed his eyes. He then felt his Beautiful Sect Master climbing onto the bed and lifting his head to rest upon a familiar softness.

His Beautiful Sect Master’s exquisite lap pillow!

A wave of comfort washed over him.

Rustling sounds reached his ears, followed by a delicate fragrance that wafted towards him. He couldn’t resist taking a sniff.

    “Zhen’er, open up.”

Hearing his Beautiful Sect Master’s gentle voice, Yan Zhen parted his lips slightly. He felt a soft, plump object, like a peeled grape, being placed into his mouth. A warm, fragrant, and slightly sweet liquid oozed out, gliding down his throat.

The moment the medicinal liquid entered his stomach, it spread a gentle yet persistent warmth throughout his body. At the same time, his Beautiful Sect Master’s soft, smooth hand rested on his abdomen, gently massaging him and guiding the warmth into a flowing current that spread throughout his limbs and meridians.

Apart from his injured arm, Yan Zhen had also sustained some minor abrasions and frostbite. Although insignificant on their own, neglecting them could lead to future problems.

Under the effects of the warm current, his minor injuries began to heal rapidly. The pain in his most severely injured arm also subsided, replaced by a soothing warmth.

Chapter 69: The Chain Combo of Special Trump Cards

Lan Ke still hadn’t realized the gravity of the situation. He maintained the haughty demeanor of a Nine Star Rank expert, attempting to toy with Yan Zhen using the ice cone attacks from his Ice Silkworm Gloves.

Suddenly, an unexpected suction force disrupted his balance, causing him to stumble and nearly fall to the ground in an undignified heap.

Looking up, he saw the small vortex in Yan Zhen’s palm slowly disappear as the young man swiftly closed the distance between them.

    The counterattack had begun.

Lan Ke wasn’t weak in close combat, but Yan Zhen’s intermittent use of the “Qi Vortex Technique” to control his movements, though not entirely successful, effectively disrupted his attack rhythm. This left him feeling frustrated and stifled.

    — It was like raising your hand to unleash a powerful skill only to be silenced, unable to cast it. His gaming experience plummeted.

Forced onto the defensive, Lan Ke activated his Ice Armor Mystic Tool to block Yan Zhen’s attacks as he desperately searched for a way to break free.

He wasn’t stupid though. Once he regained his composure, he widened the distance between them.

Lan Ke had heard of the “Qi Vortex Technique,” a rather unorthodox Mystic Technique known for its limited range. As long as he kept his distance, it wouldn’t be effective.

The tables turned once more. Lan Ke kept his distance while launching ranged attacks, making it difficult for Yan Zhen to approach.

Xiao Mie, Yu Yue, and the other instructors resumed their analysis and commentary.

They acknowledged Yan Zhen’s ingenuity and creativity. However, they quickly transitioned with a “What a shame, what a shame,” reaffirming their belief that Lan Ke would ultimately be victorious. Reaching this point was already quite impressive for Yan Zhen.

Yan Zhen endured their pronouncements while being pressured, while Lan Ke sneered, “To push me this far with the cultivation of a Six Star Mystic One, you have much to be proud of. However, Six Star is still just Six Star. If you want to defeat me, you’ll need more practice… Now, allow me to finish you with my strongest attack!”

A spiraling ice cone swiftly materialized, locking onto Yan Zhen as it began to rotate at high speed.

A smile played on Yan Zhen’s lips. The time was ripe. With a powerful stomp, he abruptly dashed forward.

His brow glowed, formless flames flickered, and his Spiritual Power surged!

Maximum force “Qi Vortex Technique,” activate!

Triple Burst “Eight Extremes Explosion,” detonate!

Lan Ke froze, caught off guard. Before he could unleash his skill, he was pulled towards Yan Zhen like a rag doll, colliding head-on with the young man’s fist.

    A full-powered punch!

    Bang!

Accompanied by a muffled thud, the once-invincible Lan Ke, armor and all, was finished.

Silence descended upon the entire arena. All eyes were fixed on the young man, Mystic Power swirling around him as he held his punching stance. It was as if time itself had stopped.

Xiao Shi, Xiao Xinyan, and the others were stunned, their jaws agape. Witnessing Yan Zhen overpower Lan Ke was beyond their wildest imaginations. They were speechless.

    “He won! Cousin, amazing!”

Yan Meng’er was the first to erupt in cheers, her little hands clapping enthusiastically. Following suit were Mi Xue’er, Yan Ruyu, the girls from Class 1, Instructor Yu Xuan, and the rest of the instructors in the stands. Finally, the entire arena reverberated with thunderous applause.

Yan Zhen retracted his fist and flashed a thumbs-up to the three girls cheering for him below. He then winked at Instructor Yu Xuan.

This unexpected flirtation sent the three girls’ hearts aflutter, their cheeks flushed with a delicate crimson. Instructor Yu Xuan also chuckled softly, pondering whether to reward him further.

As the referee instructor announced the result, Lan Ke’s people rushed onto the stage to carry him away for treatment. Before departing, Lan Ke shot a chilling glare at Yan Zhen.

Yan Zhen remained unfazed. It was only natural for the bigger fish to surface after he had dealt with the smaller fry.

“Instructor, I’ve defeated Lan Ke. Can I skip ahead from the Intermediate Class to the Advanced Class?”

The referee instructor scrutinized Yan Zhen with a complex expression. A student from the Intermediate Class challenged a top contender from the Nine Star Rank, and not just any contender, but the third-ranked Lan Ke, and actually emerged victorious. In his nearly ten years of teaching, he had never witnessed such a feat.

“According to academy regulations, you are indeed eligible. However, there are procedures to follow. It’ll take approximately two to three days before you can officially register with the Advanced Class. Your new instructor will notify you when the time comes.”

Yan Zhen politely bowed, then descended the stage. Surrounded by his classmates and “escorted” by the three girls, he exited the dueling arena.

Xiao Mie, Yu Yue, and the other experts from the Nine Star Rank stared at Yan Zhen’s retreating figure with grim expressions, their silence speaking volumes.

    “Hiss, hiss, gently, gently.”

Inside the room, Yan Zhen sat on his bed while Mi Xue’er tended to his wounds.

The side effects of the Triple Burst “Eight Extremes Explosion” had severely strained his entire arm, rendering it temporarily immobile. According to the script, he should enter the Crystal Stone Space and let his Beautiful Sect Master treat him. Only after consuming some medicinal pills would his recovery be expedited.

However, Mi Xue’er pulled out a pill from her storage ring and said, “Little Brother Yan Zhen, this is a Tier 3 Healing Pill. It’ll heal you quickly.”

What? Yan Zhen glanced at the pill and took a sniff. He detected an elegant fragrance and distinct pill patterns, clear indicators of a Tier 3 pill.

Tier 3 pills were quite valuable. How could Mi Xue’er just casually take one out? Even if the Mi family was wealthy, this seemed excessive.

“I brought this from home. I knew that even if you won against Lan Ke, you’d inevitably get hurt, so I prepared this in advance.”

Yan Meng’er and Yan Ruyu looked on with envy. They had also prepared Healing Pills, but they were only Tier 2, making it awkward to offer them now.

However, the two girls harbored suspicions. Although it seemed Xue’er (older sister) was quite fond of Yan Zhen (cousin), it shouldn’t have reached the point of such extravagant spending. Unless…

Yan Meng’er recalled Mi Xue’er’s excessive enthusiasm towards Yan Zhen earlier, while Yan Ruyu remembered the mysterious voice in her head mentioning that Mi Xue’er also had feelings for Yan Zhen.

Yan Zhen’s heart felt warm. He smiled wryly and said, “A Tier 3 pill is too precious. It’s just a minor injury. No need to waste it like this.”

Moreover, according to the script, his injury should be treated by his Beautiful Sect Master. Not only would she feed him pills, but she would also massage his arm with Starry Glass Fire.

That was supposed to be their first intimate contact, the catalyst for their gradually warming relationship.

Although their current intimacy had reached a level nearing the finale of the story, he still needed to follow the plot—a professional actor paid attention to details!

“This is no minor injury. Your entire arm is swollen and bruised. If we delay treatment, there’s a high chance of lasting complications.”

Mi Xue’er’s heart ached for him. In her previous life, she only knew that Yan Zhen’s arm was heavily bandaged after the fight and he couldn’t move it, but she didn’t realize how serious it was. Just now, she had accidentally brushed against it while bandaging, and he cried out in pain.

“Just take it. If you feel bad about it, you can just agree to a small request of mine later.”

    “What request?”

“Just a small one, nothing too difficult for you—come on, open up.”

As she spoke, Mi Xue’er urged him to open his mouth and fed him the pill with a satisfied smile.

“With the Tier 3 pill, your injuries should be healed in about two to three days. Rest up for now. We’ll bring you dinner later.”

The three girls didn’t linger. After helping him lie down, they departed.

Yan Zhen let out a long breath. He first brought up the system interface and claimed his reward for completing the mission.

[Special Trump Card – 1V1: Upon activation, you can choose a target to forcefully engage in a one-on-one duel.]

    “Oh?”

This card was probably intended for eliminating key targets when facing multiple opponents.

It meant that no matter how many enemies surrounded him, he could activate this card to single out one and force a duel.

That’s it! Yan Zhen recalled the “Special Trump Card – He Wants to Fight Ten” he had obtained earlier. If he activated “1V1” and then activated “He Wants to Fight Ten,” wouldn’t that turn the tables, making him the one ganging up on others?

The chain combo of Special Trump Cards had finally arrived!

  • They All Want to Be My Female Lead v2 c68

68 I Don’t Need a Thousand Words to Beat You

After eating his fill and washing up, Yan Zhen returned to his room, activated Star Shift Fire Seal, and went to pay his respects to the beautiful sect master.

Not seeing the beautiful sect master for two days felt like an eternity, he missed her so much, and so on.

Chen Xi gave her oily-tongued precious disciple a look and calmly said:

“Since you have a duel tomorrow, Zhen’er, rest well. We can continue the cultivation lessons after the duel is over.”

Yan Zhen made a non-standard bow to show he understood:

“Then I’ll be going, Master. Good night~”

    “Wait.”

Chen Xi grabbed Yan Zhen’s arm, gently pulled him into her embrace, then slightly lowered her head and lightly kissed his brow.

“This is Master’s blessing for you. Remember to win.”

Yan Zhen shyly touched the spot he was kissed and quietly said, “Thank you, Master.”

    “Go on.”

The night passed without further words.

The next day, when Yan Zhen woke up, the sun was shining through the window onto the desk in the room, making the interior bright and clear.

After washing up, he came to the dining room and found that Mi Xue’er, who had disappeared for a few days, was back.

During this time period, she should have been called back home by her family for matchmaking, which made her quite distressed.

After he finished fighting Lan Ke, Mi Xue’er would ask him to pretend to be her boyfriend in order to refuse the matchmaking arranged by her family.

    “Morning, everyone.”

Yan Zhen sat in his seat, happily greeted them, and started eating breakfast.

Today’s breakfast was spring rolls. Yan Meng’er specially added meat inside, making them truly fragrant~

Eat your fill, go to school.

On the way, quite a few classmates gave him strange looks, as if pitying him for the imminent defeat he would face, and also as if mocking him for overestimating his abilities.

Clearly, after fermenting for a few days, the matter of Yan Zhen, who placed first in the intermediate class monthly test, challenging Lan Ke, who ranked third on the 9-star list, had spread throughout the entire academy.

The situation didn’t improve much after getting to class either. Everyone thought Yan Zhen had no chance of winning at all.

A 6-star fighting a 9-star was very difficult to begin with, and Lan Ke was also a top expert among 9-stars. The probability of Yan Zhen winning was almost zero. He would definitely get a vicious beating from Lan Ke.

There was even a bookie taking bets on the duel, with Lan Ke having 1:1 odds and Yan Zhen having 1:10 odds.

    A typical protagonist’s treatment.

Yan Zhen chuckled coldly and asked Mi Xue’er to help him place a bet, going all-in on himself.

Mi Xue’er also bet on Yan Zhen. It was free money anyway.

“Little bro Yan Zhen, I believe in you. You can do it!”

Mi Xue’er cheered him on as written in the script. Yan Zhen felt very appreciated and assured her he would definitely win. As for Yan Ruyu, although she didn’t say discouraging words like in the script, there was still worry between her brows as she glanced at him from time to time.

At noon, when he went to the cafeteria, even more pitying and mocking gazes were directed at Yan Zhen. Xiao Shi even specially ran over to taunt him for a bit. It’s just that Yan Zhen was busy accepting his cousin’s attentive feeding and had no time to pay attention to him, so Xiao Shi could only slink away dejectedly.

Finally, after a day of classes ended, a large number of students flocked to the dueling stage, wanting to watch a good show. The people on the 9-star list naturally wouldn’t miss it. Besides them, several instructors including

Instructor Yu Xuan, Instructor Niu, Instructor Ma, Instructor Tony and others also came.

The whole lineup was even bigger than a clash between experts on the 9-star list, making Xiao Shi, who was first on the 9-star list, and Yu Yue, who was second, a bit jealous.

    A typical protagonist’s treatment.

Yan Zhen was very satisfied. No deviation was a good thing, whether in plot or in draws.

    [Ding! Key plot begins]

[Current plot progress – Chapter 98 Duel with Lan Ke]

[Acting requirement: Duel with Lan Ke, get suppressed at first, then counterattack, finally defeat him with one punch, shocking the whole crowd]

    [Completion: 0%]

Under the escort of the three girls, Yan Zhen stepped onto the dueling stage one step at a time. He stood still, facing off against Lan Ke who had been waiting on the stage for a long time with the referee instructor between them.

Lan Ke wore a clean uniform, his hair neat and tidy, even fixed with hair gel, unmoved by the wind.

He wore a silkworm ice glove on his right hand, shrouded in a circle of hazy white mist, looking very strong with the special effect.

“You actually had the guts to come up. I’ll acknowledge your courage for now, Yan Zhen.” Lan Ke said arrogantly with his hands behind his back, “But it’s not too late to regret now. I can give you a chance to admit your mistake. As long as you kneel and kowtow, say you were wrong, I’ll let you off this time.”

“Heh, too bad, I don’t want to give you any chances.” Yan Zhen lifted the corner of his mouth, revealing a spirited smile, “The villain should be blasted right away. It would be bad if he disgusts the readers.”

    *Whoosh*

Profound power surged on the surface of his body like flames, very similar to the profound power shield of a Mystic Scholar, greatly surprising many spectators below the stage.

Lan Ke also knew that the cultivation method Yan Zhen practiced seemed a bit unusual, not knowing where he got it from. The jealousy towards him in Lan Ke’s heart increased by another notch.

“Ignorant fellow, then I’ll let you witness the substance of being the third on the 9-star list.”

As he spoke, Lan Ke also circulated his ice profound power, resonating with the silkworm ice glove on his right hand, emitting bursts of chilling air.

“What substance? I do know a Han Jinlun though.” Yan Zhen slowly clenched his fists, profound power brewing in his palms, “You only see the second floor and think I’m on the first floor, but I’m actually on the fifth floor.”

“Hmph, glib-tongued, pretentious! Today I’ll properly educate you on Ruyu’s behalf.”

“Dumbass, I don’t need a thousand words to beat you!”

As their words fell, the two raised their hands at the same time, aiming at each other with their palms and index fingers.

Lan Ke launched his attack first. The crystal embedded in the back of the silkworm ice glove absorbed profound power, then the crystal in the palm spat out an ice spike, shooting towards Yan Zhen at extreme speed.

As for Yan Zhen, his hand was shaped like a gun, his straight index finger like a barrel. Compressing air with profound power, he shot out a flame pellet with formidable power.

    The two collided in midair.

    *Pop!*

Ice and fire clashed, exploding at the same time, ice shards and sparks flying everywhere.

The two maintained the same posture, slowly stepping forward, continuing to shoot ice spikes and flame pellets to collide with each other. The stage was soon covered in a misty fog, their figures faintly discernible.

It could be seen that the power of the flame pellets was getting weaker and weaker, while the ice spikes were getting stronger and stronger. The upper hand was obvious.

With another ice spike, Yan Zhen’s flame pellet could no longer defend against it. He hastily dodged.

The ice spike bloomed into a burst of ice flowers where he originally stood.

From here, Yan Zhen would be suppressed by Lan Ke’s long-range attacks.

Yan Zhen pretended to have no way to deal with it while dodging the ice spikes, looking quite miserable, causing the few girls to tense their faces.

Meanwhile, on the instructors’ and 9-star powerhouses’ side, analysis and commentary began.

“At this rate, Yan Zhen will soon be defeated.”

“It’s still too difficult for a 6-star Mystic Disciple to challenge a 9-star Mystic Disciple.”

“I think he’s gone mad with the desire for fame, using Lan Ke as a stepping stone. Of course he’ll stub his toe, it’s only natural.”

    Blah blah blah.

Hearing the naysaying from various places below the stage, Yan Zhen knew it was time to counterattack.

No choice, in a wish fulfillment novel, it’s all about the ebb and flow.

Being put down one second, erupting the next second, slapping the faces of passersby with a smack.

    67 If You’re Happy Then It’s Okay

From her desperate, ready-to-die posture, if she had said “Don’t touch me, you pervert, or I’ll kill myself in front of you”, that would have been understandable. But what she said just now was completely the opposite.

If he didn’t kiss her, she wanted them to perish together. What kind of bizarre scenario was this plot from?

However, the profound power surging from Elder Cousin indicated she wasn’t just saying it for show. If he didn’t do as she said, she might really go berserk!

Damn it, why did things turn out like this? There wasn’t this kind of plot in the script at all, who added it in?

Right, it was Meng’er! She brought Elder Cousin Ruyu here, even playing the feelings card to make him go soft and let them stay as sparring partners.

That naughty girl not only added scenes for herself, she even instigated Elder Cousin to do the same.

After beating Lan Ke, he’d have to settle the score with her properly. If he doesn’t spank that little perky butt of hers red, then he’s not Yan Zhen!

(Yan Meng’er: Achoo! Hm? Is someone thinking of me? Could it be Cousin is missing me? Hehehe~)

Yan Ruyu had already activated the Recording Mirror and set it to the side facing them. As expected, she probably wanted to use it as leverage against him.

Because after eating the pill he gave her, she exposed her wanton side. In order to turn the tables, she wanted him to also willingly show a flustered side.

Plus, the night before last, he used underhanded tactics to make Elder Cousin cry. With her grudge-bearing personality, she definitely thought about getting back at him!

This was settling new and old scores together, he was going to get caught.

Whatever, in any case, he’d do as Elder Cousin said to resolve the situation first.

Kissing was doable, but he had to steady his wandering thoughts to avoid deviating from his character setting.

Yan Zhen closed his eyes, silently adjusting his breathing. At the same time, he recited the “Original Pure Heart Formula” in his mind – “Women are all pigs’ trotters” – before opening his eyes again, gazing down at Elder Cousin’s beautiful face from above.

    “Then I’ll really kiss you.”

Yan Ruyu originally had a sharp look in her eyes, an expression of “Kiss me or don’t even think of leaving”, all cutely fierce. But hearing Yan Zhen was really going to kiss her, she became shy again.

    “You, hurry up.”

Yan Zhen didn’t waste words either. Looking at Elder Cousin’s tender, glossy cherry lips, he lowered his head and kissed her.

    “Mm!”

Yan Ruyu’s beautiful eyes widened slightly, the hands hugging Yan Zhen also tightened unconsciously, ten fingers clutching the clothes on his back.

Following Yan Zhen’s lip and tongue’s attack, the shyness and stubbornness between Yan Ruyu’s brows gradually melted. Under the influence of passion and desire, her gaze turned hazy, then greedily responded.

Yan Zhen originally thought kissing a couple times would be enough, but Yan Ruyu suddenly turned the tables on him, tightly sucking on him, unwilling to let go.

Time passed bit by bit. Only when both of them had difficulty breathing did Yan Ruyu release his mouth. Face flushed red, panting nonstop, Yan Zhen also had a dazed expression. Because of the lack of oxygen, his mind went blank. His whole body lazily lay on Elder Cousin’s chest, pillowing on her high, towering peaks, breathing heavily.

If someone saw the state the two of them were in right now, they would definitely think they just had an intense physical tussle.

Feeling Yan Ruyu’s hands no longer restraining him, Yan Zhen immediately rolled over, sprawling next to Elder Cousin like a salted fish.

    “Is this enough, Elder Cousin?”

Yan Ruyu lay on the ground, the back of her right hand pressed against her forehead, eyes half-lidded. She lightly “Mm-ed”, her left hand quietly putting away the Recording Mirror.

“We’re even now, so everything that happened just now doesn’t count, forget all of it!”

    “…Okay.”

If you’re happy then it’s okay!

“Let’s rest a bit, then train again after waking up. You must be tired too.”

    “Mm.”

The atmosphere was silent and stiff, but neither of them had any intention of breaking it.

Whether it was Yan Ruyu or Yan Zhen, after training for a day, they were indeed both a bit tired.

The night grew darker and darker. Inside the martial arts field, it was as bright as day. Under the lights, two figures lay together, quietly falling asleep.

Half-dreaming, half-awake, Yan Zhen seemed to hear a woman’s whimpers. There wasn’t a sad undertone, rather it had an alluring charm that made his body feel a surge of heat.

However, before really heating up, Yan Zhen fell completely asleep again.

When Yan Zhen woke up, Yan Ruyu had already recovered, standing to the side reaching her hand out to him:

“It’s almost dawn, get up and let’s continue training.”

Yan Zhen yawned, very naturally placing his hand in Elder Cousin’s, pulled up by her.

After eating medicinal pills in place of food, the cousins began sparring again.

This time Yan Ruyu was on the offensive, Yan Zhen could only stand in place passively defending, using Qigong Finger and Qi Vortex Technique to disrupt Elder Cousin’s attacking rhythm.

The training continued until afternoon. The two finally opened the martial arts field’s big doors and walked out, dragging their tired bodies.

A gust of hot wind blew towards them, making their complexions look a few shades worse.

“Not taking a bath for two days, my whole body stinks. Let’s hurry back.”

*Sniff sniff* “It’s not bad, Elder Cousin, you don’t smell.”

“Don’t come near me, I meant you.”

    “Ugh…”

Bickering listlessly while walking out the academy gates, then flagging down a carriage, the two cousins clambered into the carriage, leaning against each other exhausted, heads touching. If you didn’t know better, you’d think they had a very close relationship.

    “Thanks, Elder Cousin.”

“Who wants your thanks, I was just doing what I should.”

“Elder Cousin, your tsundere act is too classic.”

    “Who’s tsundere!”

“Tsunderes are out of fashion now, Elder Cousin…”

“I said I’m not. Hmph, forget it, shut your mouth, I’m dead tired.”

Returning to the estate and knocking on the big doors, the one who came out to greet them was Yan Meng’er.

The younger cousin who had worried herself sick over them, seeing the obviously shortened distance between the two, was so relieved that tears glimmered in her eyes.

    — Thank the heavens, Elder Cousin is finally starting to shed her tsundere personality and can face her feelings for Cousin directly.

“Cousin, Elder Cousin, you’re back. How was the training?”

“Don’t ask anything, right now I just want to eat, bathe, sleep.”

“No problem, Meng’er and Instructor Yu Xuan already prepared a big meal for you in advance.”

“Good girl, I’m going to pig out, then wash up nicely, then enter dreamland.”

“Hey, Yan Zhen, didn’t you just say to let me bathe first!”

Yan Ruyu slapped Yan Zhen’s arm. Yan Zhen glanced over:

“You said it, I didn’t agree. Didn’t you say I stink? Then what’s wrong with me bathing first?”

“I don’t care, I want to bathe first. My body is all sticky and gross, it’s killing me. Only the hot spring in the bathhouse can save me.”

“I’m uncomfortable too, I also need the hot spring’s salvation.”

“You just have to fight me for it, huh?”

“You’re the one fighting me for it.”

The two stopped walking, glaring at each other.

Seeing this, Yan Meng’er hurriedly inserted herself between them, playing peacemaker:

“Hey hey hey, Elder Cousin, Cousin, don’t argue. You can compromise – just bathe together.”

“You, what nonsense are you saying Meng’er, who wants to bathe with him…”

“Heh, Meng’er’s suggestion is spot on. I have no objections.”

    “You– Scoundrel!”

    “Bleh bleh bleh~”

Busy in the kitchen, Instructor Yu Xuan saw her three quarreling disciples through the ventilation window and gently smiled.

  • They All Want to Be My Female Lead v2 66

66 Kiss Me or We Go Down Together

Yan Zhen would rather believe the Yan Ruyu before his eyes was Yan Meng’er in disguise than think that tsundere cousin who was at odds with him would take the initiative to kiss him.

His mischievous younger cousin always took advantage of him when he was off guard, then giggled and tried to act cute to gloss it over.

As for his elder cousin, they used to fight every time they met. She would get riled up if he so much as touched her, and loved to stab at him with her sword, especially aiming for his butt.

The two of them kissing? Don’t joke around, Yan Zhen couldn’t imagine that at all.

Until this very moment, when she really kissed him.

Even if Yan Zhen found it hard to believe, facts were facts.

And it wasn’t just a peck either, but nibbling lightly like a kitten drinking milk, licking from left to right, coating his entire mouth with her fragrant saliva.

    — What’s going on? Did Elder Cousin suddenly awaken or something? Was she drugged?

Looking at his cousin’s enchanting face up close, Yan Zhen was completely dumbfounded, even too shocked to push her away, dazedly allowing her to savor his lips.

Yan Ruyu was also in a daze. Provoked badly by her younger cousin last night, in a moment of rashness she went ahead and kissed him, getting more addicted the more she kissed.

It’s just that she wasn’t truly overcome with desire after all. After a couple of pecks, she came to her senses, realizing what a bold act she had done!

Yan Ruyu really wanted to pretend it never happened, but how could she? She could feel Yan Zhen’s gaze, full of shock and confusion, as if he just met her for the first time today.

She really didn’t have the courage to raise her head and meet his eyes, not even for a second.

    — I’ll die of shame, I really will!

Yan Ruyu’s mind went blank, she could only pretend to be completely lost in the kissing to cover up her current fluster.

Her moist red lips stopped at the corner of Yan Zhen’s mouth, a bit of pink tongue peeking out, twirling in the crevice.

Even though it was her first time, she was like an active child getting a new toy, having many startling strange ideas out of sheer fondness and joy.

Of course, it was also related to those slightly risqué romance novels she read, making her experience zero but postures quite abundant.

The electrifying pleasure from their lips numbed Yan Ruyu’s mind, making her really want to continue like this forever.

But this wasn’t okay, right? How could she gloss over this?

If it was Meng’er, she could get by with a giggle, but she couldn’t do that!

What to do, what to do, what to do…

She couldn’t think of anything and gave up.

If she dies of shame then so be it, being able to have her lips meet his like this, it was worth dying for.

The hopeless Yan Ruyu threw caution to the wind, eyes closed, enjoying the intimate contact with her beloved cousin, even boldly trying to slip her little tongue into his mouth.

    — It was unsuccessful.

Two warm sweaty hands cupped Yan Ruyu’s face, the tongue she just stuck out happening to dangle down in a silver arc, making her current visage especially alluring.

    “Elder Cousin, are you okay?”

Yan Zhen’s voice brought Yan Ruyu back to her senses. The instant their eyes met, her overwhelming sense of shame exploded like a volcano. Her face, already pink from the heat of the moment, visibly reddened like the setting sun on the horizon.

    “Don’t, don’t look at me, I didn’t, sorry, I…”

Even though it was her own fault, Yan Ruyu felt an inexpressible grievance and fear in her heart, making tears uncontrollably well up.

    — He must think she is a shameless loose woman now, and will despise her more than before, no longer being close with her.

    “Wuwuwu, I’m really sorry, I truly…”

She covered her face with her hands, crying out loud, her delicate body shaking as she lay on top of Yan Zhen.

Yan Zhen was instantly at a loss – why was Elder Cousin crying again? He didn’t do anything to her!

But in the sealed martial arts field, with a man and woman alone, the girl sobbing while the guy says he didn’t do anything, who would believe that?

If Instructor Yu Xuan saw this, he was in for it!

“Elder Cousin, calm down first, I didn’t deliberately pull you over to take advantage of you, and the Minor Primordial Pill I gave you didn’t have any weird drugs… probably.”

Yan Zhen recalled that while preparing for the exam, he secretly refined some springtime secret medicine behind his master’s back and put it in a small bottle. But he was unfortunately discovered by the beautiful sect master and had to obediently pour it out, even getting scolded.

She said it was just like a male pill refiner to love concocting these random things, and that he mustn’t learn badly.

Yan Zhen could only dejectedly agree.

Then, it seemed the small bottle that contained the springtime secret medicine was used by him to hold Minor Primordial Pills, as for which exact bottle, he didn’t pay attention.

The Minor Primordial Pill Elder Cousin took earlier couldn’t have been the one in that special small bottle, right?

Because there were still remnants of the springtime secret medicine, it got on the Minor Primordial Pill, so after Elder Cousin ate it she would…

    Oh no!

Yan Zhen’s face paled, cold sweat streaming down his forehead. He accidentally did what that bastard Xiao Shi wanted to do, wasn’t he the same kind of scum then?

    — I’m a proper and upright protagonist, an emotionless and abstinent leveling machine!

Holding Elder Cousin’s fragrant, soft and hot body, Yan Zhen couldn’t be distracted by dirty thoughts. He quickly took out a Calming Qi Pill from his storage ring.

This was something Yan Zhen refined after selecting a 1st grade prescription, only effective for Mystic Disciples. It could calm the agitated qi in the body.

For use during quiet cultivation, it also had some effect in this current situation.

“Elder Cousin, eat this, it should make you feel much better.”

After saying that, Yan Zhen gently pulled away the jade-like hand covering his cousin’s face and stuffed the pill into her mouth.

The mentally frazzled Ruyu was like a tamed little female dog, obediently opening her mouth. With a roll of her tongue, she ate the Calming Qi Pill.

As the medicinal effect took hold, her breathing and emotions gradually settled, and reason started to return.

Thinking of how she acted just now, her shame rose another level.

Having the one she likes see her wanton side, did her life still have meaning?

“Elder Cousin, how do you feel, you won’t keep thinking about that anymore, right?”

    “I, I’m fine now.”

    “Phew, that’s good, that’s good.”

Yan Zhen let out a big sigh of relief, thinking it was a close call. Luckily Instructor Yu Xuan didn’t suddenly break down the door, see this scene and have a misunderstanding in a clichéd turn of events.

“Um, Elder Cousin, why don’t we get up first?”

    “No!”

Yan Zhen froze. He saw Yan Ruyu bite her lip, then as if making a decision, grabbed Yan Zhen’s shoulders. Then with a twist of her waist, she flipped their positions.

She was on the bottom, cushioning him, Yan Zhen was on top, lying on her chest.

The same points of contact, but after switching positions, the two of them felt completely different from before.

Yan Zhen didn’t understand what Elder Cousin was up to.

After a long while, Yan Ruyu said with a face red as blood:

“Yan Zhen, you, you kiss me too, then remember it. That way we’ll, we’ll be even!”

Oh boy… Yan Zhen’s eyes went wide – was this trying to get leverage over him?

No need for that Elder Cousin, it was all an accident just now!

“Elder Cousin, don’t be like this, we can talk it out as cousins.”

Yan Ruyu suddenly hugged Yan Zhen, her seemingly frail jade-like arms erupting with astonishing strength, firmly locking him in place.

“Enough talk! You, hurry up and kiss me, or else we’ll perish together!”

Saying that, Yan Ruyu even started circulating her profound power, looking ready to fight to the death.

    Yan Zhen was stuck.

    — What is even happening, seriously!
