Chapter 117: The Art of Disruption

Seeing that Jasmine wasn’t swayed by her attempts to deflect blame, Adele finally confessed what had happened. After listening to her explanation, Jasmine couldn’t help but facepalm. Should she criticize Adele for her lack of laundry skills, or praise her for at least trying, or be grateful that Adele hadn’t attempted to wash her delicate lace-trimmed nightgowns and dresses?

“I didn’t mean to! I saw you wash them so easily, so I thought I could do it too. But those little clothes… the lace ripped with the slightest tug…” Adele’s voice was initially weak and apologetic, but as she continued, she gained confidence, finally accusing Jasmine, “It’s all your fault for leaving me alone for so long! This wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t gone away!”

Jasmine replied calmly, “Then next time I’m away, Miss, please don’t try to wash your own clothes.”

Adele was even more annoyed. “Then what should I do with them? Just leave them piled up, waiting for you to return?”

It wasn’t an entirely unacceptable solution, but Adele, with her slight germaphobia, couldn’t tolerate the thought of her clothes accumulating and developing a musty smell. Jasmine wanted to suggest asking someone else to do it, but Adele was so shy that she had even considered washing them herself instead of asking another maid for help.

Seeing that Jasmine couldn’t offer a solution, Adele smirked triumphantly. “So, you can’t leave me alone anymore! And you can’t be gone for so long! If you have to go, you have to take me with you!”

In the end, Adele was still acting spoiled. Jasmine couldn’t help but smile at her childish demands. “Alright,” she agreed. “Unless it’s an emergency.”

After Jasmine’s return, Adele’s work efficiency increased significantly. With Jasmine by her side, Adele felt that the nights were darker, the moon brighter, and even her tea tasted better. Jasmine’s presence had a calming effect on her, making everything easier.

The researchers she had brought back were all talented individuals. Within days of their arrival, the thirteen-year-old boy with thick glasses approached Jasmine and Adele, carrying a stack of documents. They had initially been uncomfortable upon arriving at Deli Farm. They had expected to be taken to a secret Human Resistance Army base, but instead, they had found themselves in a place where multiple races coexisted peacefully.

After a few days, they had come to appreciate this unique environment. And after confirming that Adele was truly committed to interracial harmony, the young boy had finally presented his findings.

Humans had short lifespans, both in Jasmine’s previous world and in this one. Their lives were fleeting compared to the vastness of time, but their creativity and intelligence were unmatched. Look at this world. Vampires had ruled for ten thousand years, and yet their technology was still so primitive. But in Jasmine’s previous world, humans had achieved so much in just a few centuries, transforming from an agrarian society to a modern civilization.

If given the same amount of time, perhaps the humans in this world could also achieve great things.

This young boy, despite his age, had a deep understanding of vampires. The documents he had brought outlined a plan to disrupt the vampires’ banking system.

He placed the heavy stack of papers on the table and began explaining his findings to Jasmine, Adele, the Commander, and several key members of the Human Resistance Army.

“First, we need to understand the foundation of the vampire banking system.”

Jasmine’s cheat abilities hadn’t enhanced her intelligence, so she didn’t understand what the boy was talking about. The other Human Resistance Army members were also confused. Even those who had studied this topic found it difficult to grasp the underlying principles.

Only Adele seemed to be following along. “Is it… blood?” she asked hesitantly.

The boy nodded. “Yes. The essence of the banking system is that currency is a representation of blood. Vampires sell their blood to the bank in exchange for currency, which they then use to purchase goods and services, including blood.”

Hearing this, Jasmine understood: it was simply a system of exchange, a concept she had learned in high school. In her previous world, currency was backed by precious metals. In this world, it was backed by blood.

The boy continued, “This system has been in place for almost a thousand years. It’s a very sophisticated system, but it has a fatal flaw. What if… the amount of currency in circulation exceeds the amount of blood stored in the banks?”

“It would lead to a collapse of trust.”

Adele, the six-time champion of the academy, was quick on the uptake. The boy was pleased with his student. He nodded. “Exactly. Our goal is simple: to disrupt the bank’s exchange system.”

It sounded simple, but it was incredibly difficult to achieve. Otherwise, the banking system wouldn’t have survived for a thousand years, even extending its reach to otherworldly beings.

    The key question was: how?

But the boy already had a plan. He picked up a one-hundred-denomination banknote from the top of his stack of documents. His eyes gleamed with confidence. He had been studying the vampire banking system ever since he could remember. The vampires wanted to perfect their system, but he was a mischievous child, and he had seen through their facade, harboring a deep hatred for the vampires who had raised him. He had long ago discovered the flaw, but he had never had the opportunity to exploit it.

Now that the opportunity had presented itself, he wouldn’t let it slip away.

    “Counterfeiting.”

The vampire banking system was backed by generations of brilliant minds, who carefully controlled the amount of currency in circulation, even the annual release of new banknotes. A single misstep could lead to a collapse. But they had never encountered… counterfeiting.

The boy’s words made Jasmine realize: she had been stuck in a rut, assuming that banknotes were difficult to replicate. But in reality, although banknotes had been in circulation for over a thousand years, the printing technology was still relatively crude. It was only due to the vampires’ technological monopoly that no other race possessed the ability to produce currency.

Adele was worried. “Can we… really counterfeit banknotes?”

“Yes, we can.” The boy’s voice was firm. “You have us. We are the most advanced researchers of this era. We have experts in papermaking, ink production, and printing. I’ve been studying the banking system for years. I know which banknotes are easiest to replicate. Counterfeiting might be difficult for those without the necessary skills, but for us, it’s child’s play.”

His confidence was infectious. Adele chose to trust him. After all, this was someone Jasmine had brought back. She trusted Jasmine, and she trusted those Jasmine had brought with her.

It sounded simple, but putting it into practice was another matter. They needed to acquire various materials and build the necessary machinery from scratch. Adele allocated a site in a nearby valley for the research institute, and the Commander selected loyal members of the Human Resistance Army to work there. With everyone’s efforts, the institute finally began to take shape.

But this was just the beginning. They had a long road ahead of them. First, they needed to build the machines necessary for counterfeiting. They had no existing equipment, so they had to start from scratch. Acquiring the necessary materials was a challenge, requiring Adele to use various methods.

It was a difficult process, but they eventually succeeded. A year and a half later, the first perfect counterfeit banknote emerged from the printing press. Adele wanted to celebrate, but unfortunately, she had to leave for Golden Castle. Miss Golden was getting engaged to the young Green boy.

After all these years, the young Green boy was now seventeen years old, about to start his first year at the vampire academy. The Golden patriarch, fearing that something might disrupt their plans, had decided to hold the engagement ceremony first, with the wedding to follow after the boy’s graduation. As Miss Golden’s cousin and former classmate, Adele had naturally received an invitation.

She couldn’t refuse, so she had to go to Golden Castle. And of course, she had to take Jasmine with her. They boarded an airship, and after several days of slow travel, they finally arrived at the airship port in Golden territory.

Then they transferred to a Golden family carriage, continuing their journey.

Golden Castle was grand, comparable in size to Blake Castle. Adele was assigned a suite, next door to her younger sister. Her parents, of course, had their own rooms. Adele’s mother, before her marriage, had been a Miss Golden, and she occasionally visited, so her room at Golden Castle had been preserved.

This wasn’t Adele’s first visit to Golden Castle. She had stayed here before.

Several years had passed, and the Blake Second Miss had blossomed into a beautiful young woman. She was two years younger than the young Green boy, only fifteen this year. Learning that Adele had arrived, she knocked on her door, accompanied by her maid. Given her personality, Jasmine had expected her to bring a low-ranking vampire maid, but to her surprise, the maid accompanying her was the human girl who resembled Jasmine.

However, unlike Jasmine, the Second Miss’s maid had long, flowing hair, not short hair like hers. The Second Miss seemed to have matured, even curtseying politely to Adele and addressing her as “Sister.”

The last time Jasmine had seen her this well-behaved was when she had wanted to tag along with Adele and Jasmine to the village below the castle. But despite her impeccable manners, her attitude was still somewhat haughty. After all, tsunderes were common among vampires.

It was worth mentioning that the guest room came with a servant’s quarters. This was understandable. Guests would naturally bring their favorite servants, and it wouldn’t be appropriate for them to share the servants’ quarters with the host family’s servants.

After curtseying, the Second Miss said to Adele, “Sister, look! Haven’t I raised my maid well?!”

    Jasmine almost burst out laughing.

Chapter 116: Beauty is a Distraction

To be honest, Jasmine hadn’t expected Adele to be waiting for her. It was dusk, the sky not yet fully dark. The sun clung to the horizon, reluctant to set, casting long shadows across the land.

Adele stood in the shadow of the manor, hidden from the sun, but still uncomfortable. That was how vampires were. Even indirect sunlight made them feel uneasy. The setting sun illuminated the western side of the manor, its shadow stretching towards Jasmine, the tip reaching her feet. She stood on the boundary between darkness and light.

Adele’s crimson eyes glowed faintly in the shadows. She was wearing a thin silk nightgown, a shawl draped over her shoulders, her arms crossed, clutching the shawl tightly. Her face was pale, probably due to the lingering sunlight.

The eastern sky was already dark. Adele only had to wait a little longer for night to fall. Jasmine didn’t understand why she had woken up early and was waiting for her here. She swallowed, about to speak, when she saw Adele running towards her.

Without hesitation, Jasmine stepped into the shadow, moving towards Adele. She reached out, catching Adele in her arms. Adele’s silver hair swirled around them, the shawl slipping from her shoulders, revealing her pale skin.

Jasmine froze, then she pulled Adele towards the manor, picking up the shawl and draping it over Adele’s head. She was worried. What if a stray ray of sunlight touched Adele?

Some of the maids who worked during the day were still finishing their tasks. Seeing Adele and Jasmine, they greeted them.

    “Jasmine, you’re back!”

    “Miss Adele, Jasmine is back!”

Such greetings filled the air, but Jasmine, who usually would have nodded in acknowledgment, simply walked past them, her face expressionless, pulling Adele towards their room. Only after entering the room, with the curtains tightly drawn, did Adele relax. Being outside without any protection had made her anxious.

Jasmine couldn’t help but scold her. “Adele, if you were so afraid, why did you go outside?”

Adele knew she was in the wrong. Her voice was sheepish. “I… I woke up early today for some reason. I asked Bella, and she said there was a lot of activity at the farm today. I knew you were back. But it wasn’t completely dark yet, and I couldn’t leave the manor, so I could only wait for you at the door.”

Her tone was almost pleading, but Jasmine wasn’t fooled. “It’s a good thing you didn’t run outside. Otherwise, I would have only found a pile of ashes when I returned.”

Her words provoked Adele’s stubbornness. She pushed Jasmine onto the sofa, then straddled her, her long silver hair cascading down, her crimson eyes gazing intently at Jasmine. “You’re so mean! You left me alone for so long! And now you’re blaming me!”

Her words silenced Jasmine. Because Adele was right. It was Jasmine who had left her. But despite her scolding, Jasmine was secretly happy. Adele’s actions proved how much she loved Jasmine. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have risked going outside to wait for her.

This thought softened Jasmine’s heart. And their current position was… very conducive to kissing. They had been together for so many years. The moment their eyes met, Adele knew that Jasmine wasn’t truly angry. And she also knew… that Jasmine wanted to kiss her.

Adele blushed, but her body was honest. She leaned down, her lips brushing against Jasmine’s, her eyelashes fluttering as she closed her eyes. It had only been a few days, but to Adele, it felt like an eternity.

Once again embraced by Jasmine, feeling her warmth, Adele’s heart, which had felt empty these past few days, was now full. Their kiss was long and lingering, filled with tenderness.

After a long time, they finally parted. Adele, the tsundere, confessed, “Jasmine, I missed you so much.”

Were there any words in the world that could make Jasmine’s heart flutter more than these? Probably not. She hugged Adele tightly, her voice soft, “I missed you too.”

After this heartfelt exchange, they naturally moved on to more… intimate activities. Adele had neglected her work these past few days. Every time she tried to focus, her thoughts would drift to Jasmine, making her restless and unproductive.

But as Jasmine’s kisses clouded her mind, she thought, Just one more day. After today, I’ll definitely work hard.

With this thought in mind, she clung to Jasmine’s neck, urging her on. After a night of passion, Adele woke up the next day, facing a mountain of work in her study. Beauty is a distraction, she thought ruefully.

Jasmine, who had gone to check on the researchers at the Commander’s base, sneezed, startled by Adele’s mental grumbling. The Commander asked with concern, “Dawn Lady, do you need to rest? You just returned last night. You should get some sleep.” She had learned from the researchers that Dawn Lady had been running back and forth non-stop, and she was worried.

Jasmine wasn’t wearing her Dawn Lady disguise. She had come in her maid uniform. After all, the Commander wasn’t stupid. After comparing Jasmine’s and Dawn Lady’s schedules over the past few years, she had figured out that they were the same person. So, Jasmine’s secret identity had already been exposed to the Commander.

Being exposed in front of the Commander was far less embarrassing than the “Deli” farm situation. Jasmine had even endured the name “Deli.” Losing her secret identity was nothing. Some members of the Human Resistance Army had struggled to accept it. After all, in their minds, Dawn Lady was a mature, intelligent, and aloof beauty. Discovering that she was actually Jasmine, the little maid, had been a shock, causing some to question her leadership.

But it didn’t matter to Jasmine. Whether they accepted it or not, she and Dawn Lady were one and the same.

The Commander had arranged for the researchers to be well-cared for. After all, she was the Commander. If she could lead the entire Human Resistance Army, surely she could handle a few researchers. Reassured, Jasmine prepared to leave.

Adele was also working on securing funding for the researchers, preparing to build a new research institute. And she had to do it secretly. Her farm wasn’t a fortress. There were definitely informants planted by her father, other clans, and even the Council of Elders.

These informants weren’t just low-ranking vampires. There were even human informants. However, human informants were easily detected and converted. They enjoyed better treatment at Deli Farm than they had received from their previous masters. Most importantly, they experienced true equality and respect. There was no oppression from other races. They could even find partners and raise families here.

Many had held a newborn baby for the first time after arriving at Deli Farm, watching the tiny hand grasp their finger, and they had finally understood what it meant to have hope for the future. And the Human Resistance Army’s ideological education, promoting concepts like equality and rebellion, made it even easier to convert them.

However, low-ranking vampire and otherworldly being informants were harder to detect and convert. So, the Human Resistance Army’s activities, including Adele’s plans for the research institute, had to be kept secret, conducted in a hidden location, away from prying eyes.

When Jasmine returned to Adele’s study, she saw her working on the budget for the research institute. Jasmine was surprised. Adele had been working on this before she left. Given Adele’s workaholic nature, she should have already secured the funding and was waiting for construction to begin, not still calculating costs.

Curious, Jasmine casually flipped through the documents on Adele’s desk. Adele seemed nervous, which only deepened Jasmine’s suspicion. She decided to take a closer look at what Adele had been doing these past few days. Then she saw a new purchase order, processed through official vampire channels.

It was for clothes. Undergarments, to be precise.

Adele was wealthy. What was wrong with spending a little money on clothes? Who would dare to question her? Even Jasmine had no control over Adele’s personal spending. Adele was willing to fund the Human Resistance Army, a testament to her admirable pacifism and internationalist spirit. But if she chose not to, no one could say a word.

But as Adele’s maid, Jasmine had to say something. If she remembered correctly, Adele’s wardrobe wasn’t lacking in undergarments. She had just bought a new batch in the spring. There was no reason to buy more now. Confused, Jasmine asked, “Adele, why did you buy more…”

Before she could finish her sentence, she saw Adele blushing furiously.

    Something’s wrong. Very wrong.

Jasmine waited for an explanation. Adele, overwhelmed by guilt, became defensive. “I just wanted to buy them! It’s not like I spent a lot of money!”

“Adele, don’t change the subject. You wouldn’t normally buy these.”

No one knew Adele better than Jasmine.

Chapter 115: What is Adele Doing?

How much difference could there really be? It was the same boiling water, the same brewing technique. Even if there were slight variations, it wasn’t as if one was heavenly and the other abysmal. But to Adele, the most delicious tea was the one brewed by Jasmine.

For years, she had only drunk tea brewed by Jasmine. In her mind, there was no better tea.

After finishing her tea with a frown, Adele put away the cup and teapot, then she went to find Bella, asking her to tidy up her room.

Bella was surprised. Adele had always insisted on Jasmine taking care of everything in her room. She never allowed any other maid to enter.

Did something happen last night? Is Miss Adele not feeling well?

As Bella entered the room to clean, she realized that Jasmine wasn’t there. She gathered Adele’s discarded clothes, preparing to wash them, but Adele quickly snatched them back, her ears twitching slightly. “I’ll take care of these myself,” she said.

Bella didn’t think much of it, assuming that Adele had always washed her own clothes. It was a bit strange, but not entirely out of character for Adele. But in reality, Jasmine had always washed Adele’s clothes. Even after they had become lovers, Jasmine had never let Adele do it herself.

Adele had never washed her own clothes. At Blake Castle, Jasmine had always done it for her. When Jasmine had occasionally taken sick leave, other maids had washed her clothes. At the time, Adele hadn’t felt any embarrassment, but after becoming lovers, she had become self-conscious, feeling that she couldn’t let others wash her undergarments.

She couldn’t explain why. It just felt… embarrassing. After all, Adele was a tsundere. Such awkwardness was to be expected.

But if she wouldn’t let Bella wash them, she had to wash them herself. She couldn’t just leave them piled up, waiting for Jasmine to return and do her laundry, could she? That would be treating Jasmine like a servant, not a lover. Although Jasmine was still officially her maid, their relationship was now more equal. Adele couldn’t bring herself to do that.

Besides, Jasmine was away on important business. If she returned and saw a pile of dirty laundry in the bathroom, and it started to smell… No, Adele couldn’t tolerate that! So, after learning to brew tea, she now had to learn to wash her own clothes.

Washing clothes wasn’t difficult, but Adele’s delicate undergarments required gentle handling. They were expensive, with lace trim meticulously hand-stitched. Too much force would damage them.

Jasmine had complained about this many times when she had first started washing Adele’s clothes. Adele hadn’t realized it, and she had ruined quite a few garments in the past few days. She couldn’t hang them outside to dry during the day, and she was too embarrassed to do it at night, so she could only hang them in the bathroom, waiting for them to air dry.

Clothes that dried without sunlight tended to have a musty smell. But it didn’t matter. The clothes Adele had washed were unwearable anyway, so the smell was irrelevant. Adele looked at the crumpled, misshapen garments, the lace trim snagged and torn. She was disheartened.

She couldn’t bear the thought of Jasmine returning and seeing the ruined clothes, her eyes filled with mockery and disdain. Just imagining that scene made Adele want to curl up in a ball of shame. So, to hide the evidence of her destruction, she simply burned the clothes to ashes.

Now that she was running low on undergarments, she had to place a new order.

Bella, noticing that Jasmine had been absent for several days, was curious. “Miss Adele, where’s Jasmine?” she asked. Adele was a kind and considerate mistress, which was why Bella dared to ask. If it were any other vampire, Bella would have simply kept her head down and pretended not to notice.

Adele, who had been writing furiously at her desk, paused. “I sent her to another farm on an errand,” she replied.

Bella was surprised. “Jasmine went alone?” Her meaning was clear: why hadn’t Adele gone with her? Adele, being intelligent, understood the implication. She felt a twinge of resentment. “Yes, she went alone,” she said.

She put down her pen. As a workaholic, she should have been working non-stop, but without Jasmine by her side, she felt unmotivated. If Jasmine were here, I could focus better… she thought.

“Hmph…” She walked to the window, gazing at the moon. “It’s all Jasmine’s fault.”

Jasmine, gazing at the moon, sneezed. She couldn’t possibly have caught a cold. There was only one explanation: Adele was thinking about her. Jasmine smiled, her heart warming. Adele must miss me.

She couldn’t wait to return to Adele’s side, but her current mission was more important. She had to be patient. Fortunately, Barbara didn’t keep her waiting for long. She had said a few days, and she meant it, keeping it to single digits, never exceeding ten days.

On the sixth day, Barbara sent word. Jasmine arrived at Barbara’s room at the appointed time and saw a group of people standing there: men and women, young and old. She wasn’t exaggerating. The youngest was perhaps thirteen or fourteen years old, wearing thick glasses, his face serious. The oldest was probably in his sixties, nearing the end of his natural lifespan in this world. In Jasmine’s hometown, he would be considered old enough to do whatever he wanted without facing any consequences.

There were people of all ages. Jasmine was impressed, but she didn’t show it. She maintained her usual stoic expression, greeting the researchers with respect.

Barbara, on the other hand, seemed a bit embarrassed. “I’ve been testing the people at the institute these past few days,” she explained. “I only brought them here after confirming their loyalty.”

Jasmine nodded, indicating that she understood. Then the elderly man asked, “Dawn Lady, how will we leave this place?” Jasmine replied, “Human transportation.”

    “?”

The researchers soon understood what she meant, witnessing firsthand Dawn Lady’s extraordinary power. Jasmine effortlessly carried them, one by one, bundled up in thick clothes, like chicks, transporting them to the nearest Human Resistance Army outpost.

From there, she would transport them in batches to Adele’s territory. They were amazed by her strength, unaware that she wasn’t even using her full speed. She was actually moving slower than when she carried Adele. Even so, it was like riding on the back of a motorcycle speeding at 180 kilometers per hour.

As she returned to Barbara’s room for the last time, taking the final two people with her, she looked at Barbara, her expression hesitant. Taking so many people at once… the vampires guarding the institute weren’t fools. They would surely notice something. And Barbara’s recent behavior had been suspicious. They might target her.

If it were just surveillance, it wouldn’t be a big deal, but vampires didn’t value human life. They might simply kill Barbara if they found her inconvenient. Jasmine reached out to her. “Come with me,” she said, her tone firm. She briefly explained her concerns, but Barbara shook her head.

She smiled at Jasmine. “Didn’t I say I would be your informant? Don’t worry. I’ll get the information out.”

Her smile lacked its usual warmth. Jasmine’s expression also became serious. “Thank you for your contributions to the human cause,” she said.

Barbara didn’t reply. Her expression wavered, then she said, “Go.” She was afraid that if she hesitated any longer, she would give in to the pressure, abandon everything, and join the other researchers, continuing her work at the Human Resistance Army’s base… But if they all left, who would remain at the institute as an informant?

Jasmine departed, her figure resolute. Even if I die, Barbara thought, the researchers Dawn Lady took today will become a beacon of hope, a flame that will one day engulf the vampires.

Upon arriving at the outpost, Jasmine immediately took two people with her: the youngest girl and the oldest man. Due to their age and health, they needed to be removed from this dangerous environment first.

She was fast, but she had to adjust her speed, considering their frailties. She limited herself to about 100 kilometers per hour, carrying the old man on her back and the young girl in her arms. With her speed reduced, it took her half a day, with three rest stops at the outpost, to reach Adele’s farm.

Unfortunately, it was already dawn when she arrived. Adele must have already gone to sleep. Jasmine couldn’t see her. So, she left the two people in the Commander’s care, gave some instructions, and then departed, once again acting as a human transport, bringing the remaining researchers to the farm.

She could have entrusted them to her comrades in the Human Resistance Army, letting them escort the researchers to the farm at a slower pace. But that was too risky. The journey was long, and there were otherworldly beings lurking along the way. These researchers had no combat experience. If anything happened to them, Jasmine would be devastated.

Every researcher was a valuable asset to the Human Resistance Army. And they each specialized in different fields, all essential. To ensure their safety, Jasmine had to transport them herself.

She made several trips, finally delivering everyone to the farm after nightfall. Then she grabbed a suitcase, pretending to have just returned from a trip, and headed towards the manor where Adele was staying.

To her surprise, Adele was standing at the door, wearing her nightgown, as if waiting for her.

    Chapter 114: Longing

Jasmine didn’t expect to accomplish this task in a day or two, which was why she had told Adele that she would be away for a while. If it were just a one-day trip, there wouldn’t be any need for such elaborate preparations. She was prepared to stay at the institute for several days. The only problem was the maid she had knocked out.

No problem, it’s not a big deal. Jasmine believed that communication was key, and it was all about using the right approach.

When she returned to the maid’s room, the maid had already woken up, but Jasmine had bound her with threads and sealed her mouth with tape before leaving. Suspended in mid-air, the maid couldn’t make a sound.

Like a butterfly caught in a spiderweb, she looked utterly helpless. Her eyes were wide with fear. The moment Jasmine entered, she struggled, trying to attract her attention. She didn’t realize that Jasmine was the one who had knocked her out, mistaking her for the new maid.

Jasmine could only explain, “I’m sorry, but… I’m the one who tied you up.”

The maid froze, stunned. She never expected a human to be capable of such a feat. Jasmine raised her hand slightly, and the threads lowered, gently depositing the maid on the floor. But as her feet touched the ground, her legs gave way, and she collapsed.

It was understandable. Anyone would be terrified after such an experience. Jasmine took a step forward, crouching down before the maid, feeling a twinge of guilt as she tried to help her up. The maid flinched as Jasmine approached, then, fearing that she might anger this inhuman individual, she allowed herself to be helped up, settling onto the bed.

Jasmine pulled up a chair and sat down opposite her, explaining the situation.

“I’m Dawn Lady, of the Human Resistance Army. I need to borrow your identity for a while. I hope you can cooperate…” She didn’t reveal her specific plans, only offering vague explanations. The maid was completely bewildered, her eyes glazed over with confusion. The only thing she registered was that the person before her was the infamous Dawn Lady, the bane of vampires’ existence.

Initially, the vampires had tried to suppress information about the Human Resistance Army and Dawn Lady. After all, although communication in this world was fast, it relied on magic stones. For ordinary humans without access to magic stones, the speed of communication was no different from the medieval era. It could take months for a message to travel a short distance.

Moreover, most humans were illiterate, so it was normal for them to be unaware of such news.

But over time, the Human Resistance Army’s outposts had spread throughout vampire territories, and through their efforts, more and more humans had learned about them and Dawn Lady. Most humans outwardly expressed disdain for the Human Resistance Army, claiming that their efforts were futile. If their masters asked, they would even force a smile and say, “They’re just a bunch of clowns.” But in the quiet of the night, they would secretly wonder: When will the Human Resistance Army come to save us?

The maid also harbored such hopes. Even in this city, where humans were treated relatively well, she had still experienced oppression from vampires and low-ranking vampires. She yearned for salvation.

But now that her savior had arrived, the situation was… bizarre.

Jasmine, using a combination of logic, emotion, and a bit of coercion, successfully won the maid over. After confirming that the maid wouldn’t betray her and would even help her, she said, “I’ll remove the tape from your mouth now. It might hurt a little.”

She carefully peeled off the tape. It was quite strong, but Jasmine could handle it. She used her threads to lift the edges, making it easier to remove. Even so, the skin around the maid’s mouth was red and irritated.

The maid rubbed her face and asked softly, “Dawn Lady, if I hadn’t agreed, would you have killed me?”

Jasmine was retracting her threads. She hadn’t released the maid from her bindings earlier, just to add a bit of pressure. She turned to look at the maid. “Of course not,” she replied. “I would have just knocked you out and sent you away.”

The maid stared at her for a moment, then she seemed to believe her.

Jasmine wouldn’t harm humans unless she absolutely had to. She hadn’t even harmed the annoying head maid. Why would she harm this maid, who hadn’t done anything to provoke her?

For the next few days, Jasmine waited, anticipating Barbara’s response. At night, she would lie on the roof of a building, her head resting on the tiles, gazing at the moon, her thoughts drifting to Adele.

Adele must have just woken up, she thought. She can dress herself, but what if her hair is tangled? It’s not like at the castle, where the low-ranking vampire maids would brush her hair. The maids at the farm have never served her. They wouldn’t know how to handle her silky hair.

After waking up, she would probably brew tea. But can she really brew tea properly on her own? But then Jasmine thought, My own tea-brewing skills aren’t that great either. At least a dozen maids at the farm can brew better tea than me. They even managed to make milk tea, something I had mentioned casually. And it was delicious.

Even better than the milk tea in her previous world. After all, the black tea leaves were from Adele’s stash, the kind that would probably cost hundreds of dollars per gram in her previous world. Tea enthusiasts would probably scold her for wasting such precious tea leaves on milk tea.

And the milk was fresh, not some powdered creamer concoction. They had many cows at the farm, both dairy and water buffalo. The cows were well-cared for, ensuring high-quality blood for sale. Healthy, strong cows produced delicious milk. It was a bit pungent, and they couldn’t pasteurize it, but every world had its own solutions. If they couldn’t pasteurize it, they could boil it at high temperatures.

The maids had even consulted Adele, explaining that Jasmine wanted to drink milk tea. Adele had readily become a human heating element, her magic flames intensely hot, ensuring that the milk was properly sterilized.

Then, following Jasmine’s instructions, they had successfully brewed milk tea. Adding sugar and stirring, they had created a rich and flavorful beverage. In short, it was delicious.

But the tea leaves were too expensive. The maids didn’t want to use up Adele’s entire stash, so they could only enjoy it occasionally.

Someone will probably brew tea for Adele. I don’t need to worry about that. After drinking tea, she would probably start working. Adele is a true workaholic. Even when she was confined to her room at the castle, on the verge of a mental breakdown, her coping mechanism was work.

If it weren’t for me, dragging her out to enjoy flowers and shopping, she would probably be glued to her desk, working non-stop.

Jasmine thought about this for a while, her worry for Adele growing. Then she thought, What about last night, after her bath, before sunrise? How did she dry her hair without me? Would she have dried it properly? If she went to bed with damp hair, would she get a headache when she’s older?

Her thoughts raced, and as she gazed at the moon, she couldn’t help but think of Adele. Jasmine sighed. She had to admit, she missed Adele. Perhaps because they had rarely been apart, this brief separation was making her heart ache with longing.

Actually, her assumptions weren’t far off, but there were some differences. Adele woke up that night, stretching and looking at the empty space beside her. She tucked her hair behind her pointed ears and instinctively reached out, her hand brushing against the empty sheets.

Before sharing a bed with Jasmine, Adele had been accustomed to sleeping alone in her large bed. The soft, spacious bed had always been hers alone, so she had always slept in the center. But ever since they had become lovers and started sharing a bed, Adele had gotten into the habit of sleeping on one side, making space for Jasmine. Even now, with Jasmine gone, she hadn’t changed this habit.

Habits, once formed, were hard to break.

The empty space beside her made her heart feel empty too. Adele sighed and got out of bed, washing up and getting dressed. She was used to doing these things on her own. Before sharing a room with Jasmine, she had always taken care of herself. Adele was one of the few vampires who preferred to do everything themselves.

But when it came to brewing tea, she hesitated. She didn’t want to ask another maid to do it. In her mind, Jasmine’s tea was the best. No one else could compare. Adele didn’t realize that this was simply love’s bias.

But she still needed to eat, so she figured it out herself, boiling water. It wasn’t that difficult. There were no electric kettles in this world. Hot water was supplied from a central boiler room, which operated non-stop, providing hot water for everyone.

Adele didn’t know where the boiler room was or how to get hot water from there, so she simply used her magic flames to boil a kettle of water, then poured it into the teapot. She imitated Jasmine’s every movement, her memory perfect.

She remembered every detail of Jasmine’s tea-brewing ritual. The black tea leaves steeped in the teapot, the water turning a beautiful amber color. Adele carefully poured the tea into a cup, placing it on the coffee table. As she sat down, she smoothed her skirt. Then she added a sugar cube to her tea.

After the artificial blood sugar cube had dissolved, she took a sip.

And she realized that it wasn’t as good as Jasmine’s tea.

    Chapter 113: Green Tea Tactics

Jasmine’s reason for choosing a woman was simple: she preferred women. She couldn’t help it. She just didn’t like men.

She was a lesbian now. Cut her some slack.

Back to the matter at hand, there was another reason why Jasmine had chosen this particular woman: her eyes. They were bright, filled with hope, unlike those who had lost all hope, their eyes dull and lifeless, focused only on their work.

Jasmine had seen this woman’s profile in the documents provided by the vampire traitor. The information on each researcher was limited, only mentioning their background, how long they had been working at the institute, their accomplishments, and their contributions to vampire society.

Based on her inventions, Jasmine could tell that she was intelligent, meticulous, and worthy of respect. But whether she still sided with humanity was unknown.

To be safe, Jasmine observed her for three days, even testing her loyalty. She altered her appearance slightly. She wasn’t very skilled at this, but she could make simple changes. After transforming her face, she styled her hair into a medium-length bob, donned a maid uniform, and appeared before the woman.

During her observation, Jasmine had learned from others that the woman’s name was Barbara. After disguising herself as a maid, she knocked out Barbara’s usual maid and took her place, cleaning Barbara’s room.

Barbara and her maid must have had a good relationship because she immediately asked, “Why is someone else here?” She called out her maid’s name, asking where she was. Jasmine lied without flinching, her ice queen persona fully activated.

“She’s not feeling well. I’m covering for her today.” As she spoke, she pretended to stumble and collapse on the floor. Hearing the commotion, Barbara rushed out of her study and saw Jasmine’s pitiful state.

Barbara was startled. “Are you alright?” she asked, rushing to her side.

Jasmine sobbed softly. “I… I’m not feeling well either…” She subtly revealed a bandage on her neck. Barbara frowned, sensing that something was wrong. “Were… were you bitten?” she asked.

Yes, before leaving, Adele had insisted on a little “snack” to appease her. Just a little. Jasmine wouldn’t give her more.

But she hadn’t expected it to come in handy now. However, she couldn’t just admit it. She had to play the game, going back and forth a few times before finally confessing. She shook her head vigorously. “No! I wasn’t bitten!” But her voice sounded weak and shaky.

However, only her voice sounded like she was crying. If Barbara had looked at her face, she would have seen that there wasn’t a single tear. After a few rounds of this, as Jasmine had planned, the bandage on her neck “accidentally” fell off, revealing two puncture wounds.

The evidence was undeniable. She had been bitten.

Barbara’s anger flared. “Who was it? Who bit you? There are rules against vampires harming humans! I’ll report this! They’ll be expelled from the institute!”

Jasmine grabbed Barbara’s sleeve, shaking her head. “It’s no use! Please don’t do that! They’ll… they’ll expel me too!”

Barbara was furious. “Are you just going to let them bully you like this?!”

If this had been a normal situation, Jasmine would have remained silent, simply continuing to cry. Barbara was already prepared to be frustrated by her inaction. But then a cold voice said, “But that’s how it is for all humans.”

“How far are you willing to go for humanity?”

Barbara felt her sleeve being released. She turned to look at the maid, who was standing gracefully, her black hair covering her neck, her eyes cold and piercing.

Barbara wasn’t stupid. Stupid people couldn’t survive in this institute. She realized that this wasn’t just an ordinary maid. She swallowed hard and asked, “Who are you?”

“I don’t think you’ve heard my name, but you must have heard my codename.” Jasmine curtsied elegantly, her hands holding her skirt. “Dawn, of the Human Resistance Army, at your service.”

The Human Resistance Army had been quiet in recent years, but they still occasionally attacked vampire strongholds while testing their new weapons, reminding the vampires of their existence. And Dawn Lady, due to her power, had become the number one target on the vampires’ wanted list.

Barbara never expected to meet the infamous Dawn Lady in her own room. But her first reaction wasn’t to report her. Instead, she said anxiously, “You shouldn’t be here! There are magic stone surveillance devices! They’ll catch you!”

    “I know about the surveillance.”

Jasmine wasn’t stupid. She was a modern woman. She knew what magic stones were capable of. And the latest inventions were always shared with the thirteen clans. Even Blake Castle had recently installed surveillance equipment. But it was useless. Finding blind spots was easy for Jasmine. If necessary, she could even use her threads to adjust the cameras’ angles.

She said confidently, “If I couldn’t even detect these things, I would have been captured long ago.” How could her wanted poster have remained on display in vampire banks for so long? Even the Hunter’s Association had a bounty on her head.

She occasionally visited the Hunter’s Association. Some reckless otherworldly beings actually thought they could capture her and collect the reward. But… they had always ended up being robbed by Jasmine.

The members of the Hunter’s Association were a bunch of spendthrifts, their pockets emptier than their faces. Jasmine always scoffed at their meager earnings. She was now well-provided for by Adele, who, besides funding the Human Resistance Army and purchasing magic stones, enjoyed spoiling Jasmine. She would hire renowned chefs and buy all sorts of things that vampires didn’t need, like various spices.

With a comfortable life, delicious food, and a loving partner, Jasmine’s quality of life had improved drastically. She no longer cared about the paltry rewards offered by the Hunter’s Association.

Sometimes, she regretted not revealing her identity to Adele sooner. If she had, the burden of funding the Human Resistance Army wouldn’t have fallen on her shoulders. This was very important for someone who valued laziness.

But it was just a fleeting thought. She couldn’t bring herself to burden Adele with everything.

Hearing Jasmine’s words, Barbara calmed down. She was intelligent, and her mind quickly grasped the situation. “What do you want me to do?” she asked.

Jasmine raised a finger. “First, become our informant. If you learn anything important about the vampires’ plans, write it down and leave it at a safe location. I’ll pick it up every full moon. Just leave it there a few days beforehand. Don’t sign your name, and change your handwriting. No one will suspect you.”

This posed no risk to Barbara, and she was clearly on humanity’s side. She nodded without hesitation.

Jasmine raised a second finger. “Second, I need you to tell me about the flaws in the vampires’ current social structure. I want to know how to disrupt their system effectively.”

Barbara nodded again. This was no problem for her. She had spent her entire life studying this. If Jasmine wanted, she could compile the information and deliver it to her immediately.

Then Jasmine raised a third finger. “Third, I want to take a few people who are willing to contribute to the human cause. We have some projects that require skilled researchers.” To be honest, although the Human Resistance Army had researchers, they were all self-taught, lacking formal training and experience in independent research.

They had been following Jasmine’s instructions, relying on her knowledge from her previous world. And the things they had created were… unstable. The current firearms were only functional because Jasmine had acted as a living test subject, experimenting countless times. Even so, there were still many problems. Having dedicated researchers would significantly improve the situation.

Only Jasmine could act as a living test subject, using these experimental weapons. If ordinary people had tried… they would have been killed or maimed. They wouldn’t even need the vampires to intervene. Their own weapons development would have been enough to cripple them.

Jasmine was once again grateful for her cheat abilities, which had given her superhuman resilience. Even when firearms misfired in her hands, only her clothes were damaged. She herself was unharmed. Well… there was the issue of the smoke, which was quite irritating. Even if she tried to fan it away, she would still end up coughing.

So, having dedicated researchers was essential. Moreover, Jasmine wanted to improve the firearms by incorporating magic stones, increasing their power. Without professional researchers, this would be impossible.

Faced with this request, Barbara frowned, unsure if she should agree. It wasn’t about the risk. From their brief conversation, Jasmine could tell that Barbara was a genuinely good person who cared about humanity.

Barbara was probably struggling with: who could she trust?

After a moment of contemplation, she answered, “I have a few people in mind. But this is a serious matter. I might need a few days to…” To find an opportunity to recruit them.

She didn’t finish her sentence, but Jasmine understood. She nodded, indicating that she knew.

  • The Vampire Eldest Miss Thinks I Like Her 112

    Chapter 112: Taking a Bite

Adele might be an idealist, but she didn’t believe everyone else was. She knew that in this world, most humans, otherworldly beings, and vampires prioritized their own interests above all else. These researchers were well-cared for by the Council of Elders. They didn’t have to worry about their basic needs, they had servants attending to them, and they could focus solely on their research.

They even lived to eighty years old, in a world where the average human lifespan was less than forty. Would they really abandon their comfortable lives and join the Human Resistance movement?

    Adele was skeptical.

Jasmine reached out, gently tilting Adele’s head so she was sitting upright. “Of course, we can’t persuade everyone,” she said, “but there will be those who will join us.” Jasmine was confident. She had studied Adele’s textbooks, learning about vampire history and the hardships humans had endured before the implementation of the banking system and other reforms.

To put it bluntly, the humans under Oakham’s management had lived miserable lives, but before the bank and other institutions were established, humans had been treated worse than animals. They weren’t even considered worthy of being servants, relegated to the same level as livestock. Only those who possessed exceptional beauty, the kind that appeared once in a century, were treated with any degree of respect by vampires.

In that cruel world, some humans had risen above their circumstances, enduring scorn and accusations of betrayal, becoming collaborators with vampires, helping them build a more complex society, transforming them from savage beasts into civilized nobles.

Although this had resulted in more comprehensive exploitation of humans, their status had improved somewhat. They were no longer mere livestock, at least on par with some low-ranking vampires. Jasmine had read about this period in history. Even though the vampire who had written the textbook had used derogatory language to describe these collaborators, Jasmine could see through the bias.

They had simply been trying to find a way for humans to survive.

Of course, the current generation of humans was different from those pioneers. Thousands of years had passed, countless generations had lived and died. They couldn’t possibly be the same people. But according to the information gathered by the vampire traitor, most of these researchers were descendants of those early collaborators.

Their bloodline had continued, and Jasmine believed that their spirit would have been passed down as well. She was so convinced of this that she decided to visit the addresses listed in the documents.

Hearing that Jasmine was planning to go, Adele clung to her waist, refusing to let go.

“I want to go too! Take me with you!”

“No, Adele. You’re too conspicuous. Going there would only arouse the Council of Elders’ suspicions.”

It was true. Adele had just been reprimanded by the Council of Elders. If she now appeared at the location of these talented individuals, the Elders would be furious. They were afraid of death, and they were also afraid of their authority being challenged. They were incapable of creation, only destruction, so they kept these talented humans confined, like birds in a cage, fearing that they might be poached.

They claimed to be providing them with a comfortable life, but to Jasmine, it was nothing more than imprisonment.

Of course, Adele couldn’t go. She wasn’t strong enough to completely conceal her presence, and she would be easily detected. And going there openly was even more out of the question, as Jasmine had explained. So, this time, Adele had to stay at the farm, while Jasmine went alone.

But Adele was unwilling. She had rarely been separated from Jasmine for long periods. The longest separation had been when Jasmine had pretended to be sick. And in recent years, they had been practically inseparable. The thought of Jasmine leaving her was unbearable.

But Jasmine knew how to handle Adele. She gently lifted Adele’s arms from around her waist and, in one smooth motion, lifted her up, settling her onto her lap. Jasmine looked up at Adele. “Adele, kiss me.”

Adele swallowed hard. She had been acting spoiled, refusing to let Jasmine leave, but now their positions were reversed, and Jasmine was requesting a kiss. Adele couldn’t resist Jasmine, especially when she asked for a kiss like this.

Jasmine tilted her head slightly, her short hair shifting, revealing her delicate features. Her skin was fair, but with a hint of yellow due to her race. Thanks to the chef Adele had hired, her cheeks were rosy, like peaches.

Fruit was scarce in this world. No one bothered cultivating it. Vampires couldn’t taste the sweetness of fruit, so there was no point. But in recent years, the humans in Adele’s territory, striving for a better life, had transplanted wild fruit trees, and with Jasmine’s guidance, they had selectively bred and grafted them, producing various delicious fruits, including peaches.

Adele had never tasted a peach. She couldn’t taste its sweetness, and if she tried, she would only find it unpleasant. But she had seen Jasmine eat them often. Ripe peaches were white with a blush of pink, just like Jasmine’s cheeks now.

Jasmine always said that peaches were delicious. Adele didn’t know what they tasted like, but now she could kiss Jasmine’s cheek and imagine. She leaned in, opening her mouth, and gently bit Jasmine’s cheek. She didn’t bite hard, and if Jasmine hadn’t allowed it, her skin would have hardened like stone.

But to Adele’s surprise, Jasmine’s cheek felt as soft and tender as it looked, surely as delicious as a peach.

As she pulled away, she saw two teeth marks on Jasmine’s cheek. Oh no! They were from her fangs, which were sharp and pointed. Even among vampires, Adele’s fangs were probably top-notch. She rarely drank blood, relying on artificial blood instead, unlike those who indulged in blood daily, risking tooth decay.

To a vampire, that was the most vicious curse imaginable.

Adele looked at the teeth marks, her heart filled with remorse. “Why did you let me bite you? It left marks!” The marks weren’t deep. They would probably fade within a few hours on a normal human, but Adele was worried, afraid that Jasmine’s face would be permanently scarred.

Her reaction almost made Jasmine break character. Honestly, she had broken her ice queen persona countless times in the years she had been with Adele. One more time wouldn’t hurt. She poked her cheek, her expression unchanging, but Adele sensed a hint of amusement. “Look, they’re gone.”

Indeed, as she spoke, the teeth marks vanished instantly. Adele was relieved.

Jasmine had successfully changed the subject. Adele no longer wanted to tag along. She knew she couldn’t go. Not only would her presence arouse the Council of Elders’ suspicions, but there was also too much work to be done at the farm. Her trip to the Council of Elders had already delayed many things. She couldn’t just abandon her responsibilities.

She remembered Jasmine saying that she would only work for twenty or thirty years… It made sense. Working at this intensity for hundreds, even thousands of years… even a workaholic like Adele would find it unbearable.

Two days later, after Adele had fallen asleep during the day, Jasmine left the territory. She donned her Dawn Lady disguise after leaving the farm. She was incredibly fast, but she had taken a wrong turn and had to double back, wasting some time.

The Council of Elders had placed those talented humans far away from their headquarters, but the location was still within their direct jurisdiction, not belonging to any of the thirteen clans. Jasmine had departed at dawn, and when she arrived, the dew was still clinging to the grass.

The security in this city wasn’t as tight as at the Council of Elders’ headquarters, but it was still more robust than at Blake Castle. Jasmine decided to use Blake Castle’s security as a unit of measurement. This city’s security was about 1.2 Blake Castles, while the capital’s was 13 Blake Castles.

    Good. Their favorite number again.

As she explored the city, Jasmine noticed something: there were quite a few humans here. There were also many low-ranking vampires and otherworldly beings employed by vampires, but very few true vampires. Only five vampires were patrolling the city in rotation.

The large population made it difficult for her to identify the key individuals. But it didn’t matter. Jasmine had a keen eye for detail. First, she ruled out the humans living in poverty on the outskirts of the city.

Of course, she wanted to save all humans, but there were priorities. To further disrupt the vampires’ modern society, those humans who were researching the banking system and developing new technologies were crucial. The others would have to wait.

It sounded cruel, but Jasmine wasn’t a saint. Her current priority was fulfilling her and Adele’s goals. Everything else was secondary. The most luxurious residences in this city might not belong to the researchers, but the third or fourth tier would likely be where they lived.

This city had also implemented the nine-to-five work schedule. As Jasmine observed, humans began to awaken with the sunrise, preparing for their day’s work. Like a silent nightingale, Jasmine stealthily entered the residential area she had identified.

Upon arriving at her destination, she didn’t immediately start searching for people. Instead, she observed, patiently and discreetly. Call her sneaky, but she had spent a considerable amount of time selecting a target who seemed most susceptible to persuasion.

It was a woman. Unlike most humans in this world, she was well-dressed, her clothes practical and well-fitting. And she was wearing glasses. Yes, glasses, in this technologically underdeveloped world.

This alone made her a valuable target for recruitment.

  • The Vampire Eldest Miss Thinks I Like Her 111

    Chapter 111: Information

Following that, of course, Jasmine carried Adele to the bed and they enjoyed themselves for a while. It wasn’t until the sun was high in the sky, and Jasmine could feel the warmth of its rays through the window, that Adele finally fell into a deep sleep.

While Adele slept, Jasmine slipped out of the bedroom and into the small study. As expected, a handwritten letter from Adele lay on the desk. Jasmine unfolded it and saw that Adele had meticulously documented her experience at the bunker the previous night.

Jasmine understood Adele. She knew that Adele would be anxious while waiting for her return and needed something to distract herself. Adele hated feeling helpless and flustered. She had to stay calm, and writing down everything that had happened the previous night was a good way to process her emotions and prepare for Jasmine’s return.

Jasmine read the letter, finding it to be mostly as she had expected. Adele had indeed met her grandmother. Adele hadn’t described her grandmother in detail, only mentioning that it was their first meeting and that she was still young and beautiful, looking similar to Adele’s mother.

Vampires truly had an unfair advantage in this regard. A two-thousand-year-old geezer still looked like a young and beautiful woman. How was that fair? Thankfully, Jasmine had cheat abilities. Otherwise, she might end up looking like a withered old hag while Adele remained eternally youthful.

Jasmine refocused, continuing to read. She saw Adele’s speculation that the Council of Elders probably suspected her motives for making money, believing that she had selfish ambitions to create a new world centered around herself.

    Good. That’s a very vampire-like assumption.

It wasn’t surprising that the Council of Elders would think this way. They were projecting their own self-serving nature onto Adele.

Adele expressed her indignation in the letter, adding a handwritten note above the line describing the Council’s suspicions: They’re slandering me! I’m not like that!

To emphasize her anger, she had added three exclamation marks.

She had also described the bunker’s structure, confirming Jasmine’s guess that it was a thirteen-story underground facility. The only thing that caught Jasmine’s attention was the mention of magic stones embedded in the walls. Reading this, Jasmine’s eyes almost turned as red as a vampire’s.

    Money! So much money!

Magic stones were incredibly expensive. Jasmine’s annual salary wouldn’t even buy a single stone, and yet here they were, used so lavishly that they were even embedded in the walls and hung from the ceiling to create a starry sky. Jasmine wanted to rush in and pluck those stars from the ceiling.

This was a high-fantasy world with magic, and magic stones were essential components of many magical devices and spells. They could be used for a wide range of purposes, from simple things like generating electricity, wind, or fire, to creating complex magic arrays. They could store magical energy and be used to create various magical artifacts.

Besides magic stones, the most valuable items in this world were jewels with special abilities, like the Orb of Eternal Night that Jasmine had destroyed, a naturally occurring gem with unique properties. Vampires possessed many such jewels, at least according to their records. But the impoverished Blake family didn’t have any particularly powerful ones, at least not that Jasmine had seen during her years at the castle.

But perhaps they did exist, simply hidden away by Adele’s grandmother. Although Jasmine wasn’t sure about the exact lifespan of vampires, she estimated it to be around two thousand to twenty-five hundred years. According to their books, the oldest recorded vampire had lived for twenty-eight hundred years.

Jasmine was skeptical. After all, based on the information she had gathered, Adele’s grandmother, at two thousand years old, was just a peripheral member of the Council of Elders. Perhaps there were even older vampires among the core members. As for how she knew that Adele’s grandmother was a peripheral member… it was simple. The members of the Council of Elders seemed to be terrified of death. They wouldn’t have personally met Adele, a young vampire with ambition whom they had never met before.

They would only observe from the shadows, like rats hiding in the sewers.

Jasmine had a clear understanding of the situation. After reading the letter, she folded it carefully and tucked it into her pocket. She would ask Adele later if she wanted to keep it. If not, she would burn it, leaving no evidence behind.

Adele slept soundly. When she woke up, she saw Jasmine sitting beside her. Jasmine had already brewed a cup of tea for her. After Adele finished her tea, Jasmine slipped out of the room, waiting nearby. She couldn’t stay in Adele’s room because someone would surely come looking for Adele soon.

As Jasmine had predicted, shortly after Adele started drinking her tea, there was a knock on the door. The drawing-room door wasn’t locked, so Adele simply said, “Come in.” A low-ranking vampire maid entered, carrying a tray with tea and sugar cubes. She was about to help Adele get out of bed, but she was surprised to see that Adele was already awake and sipping her tea.

She was puzzled. She had never met a noble who could brew their own tea. She hadn’t met many nobles in this manor, but she had heard stories from other maids, complaining about their masters. None of them were like Adele, who not only got out of bed, dressed herself, and washed up, but also styled her own hair and even brewed her own tea.

Perhaps because the maid’s expression was too strange, Adele asked, “What’s wrong?”

The maid quickly lowered her head. “N-nothing… nothing, Miss.” Then she asked, “Would you like more tea, Miss? Perhaps you would like to try the sugar cubes from the capital? They’re highly praised for their taste and quality.”

Adele hummed noncommittally, then said, “I brought my own. Thank you.” The maid nodded. This was a common occurrence. Nobles often had their own preferences. Refusing the sugar cubes she had prepared wasn’t unusual.

After confirming that Adele didn’t need anything else, the maid relayed the message from the Council of Elders. “Miss, the elders instructed me to inform you that there are no further matters to discuss. If you’re not in a hurry to leave, you may stay in the capital for a week. But we expect you to depart promptly after that.”

Adele nodded, indicating that she understood. Actually, she didn’t even want to stay for a day. After all, she and Jasmine had already planned their “intimate activities” for tonight. Adele was eager to return.

Hearing that she was free to leave, she finished her tea, grabbed her suitcase, and headed out. They met up with Jasmine at her inn, pretending to have just run into each other, and then left the city together.

As they departed, Jasmine couldn’t help but glance back at the city, protected by thirteen walls. It was truly an impressive sight. It reminded her of the scene from Attack on Titan, where soldiers saluted with their right fists over their hearts. Even the purpose was the same: to protect themselves.

Jasmine couldn’t understand why the Council of Elders was so paranoid, after ruling the world for ten thousand years. But those walls were meaningless to someone with her power. She could easily shatter all thirteen walls with a single punch, even creating a hole straight through them.

Upon returning to Adele’s territory, Adele slowed down her expansion plans. After all, she had already attracted the Council of Elders’ attention. Expanding too quickly would only provoke them further. But although her expansion plans were on hold, her spending hadn’t decreased much.

The vampire traitor she was working with was making a fortune. He saw Adele as his savior.

One day, he delivered the items Adele had requested, receiving a hefty payment. As he counted the money, he said, “Although my words might be unpleasant, Miss Blake, I still believe that humans are useless, even those favored by the Council of Elders.”

    “You don’t understand.”

Adele’s single sentence silenced him. But before leaving, he asked, “Miss Blake, is your goal to overthrow the Council of Elders?”

They were in this together, so telling him wouldn’t hurt. Adele put down the letter he had given her and looked at him, her crimson eyes gleaming dangerously. “What if I said yes?” If the traitor’s answer wasn’t satisfactory, Jasmine would behead him instantly.

But he simply shrugged. “It doesn’t matter to me. After all, I’m making much more money working for you than I ever did at the Council’s airship company. And I would be delighted if my esteemed client became the new ruler.”

Adele didn’t say anything. She simply waved her hand dismissively. After he left, she flipped through the documents, handing them to Jasmine. “Here’s what you asked for.”

Yes, these documents were what Jasmine had requested. She had been curious about the humans who had created the current vampire banking system and invented airships. But during her visit to the capital, she hadn’t detected any human presence. She had even suspected that they were hidden in the bunker, but then she had realized that the paranoid Council of Elders wouldn’t keep humans so close.

So, she had concluded that they must be somewhere else.

Adele had tasked the vampire traitor with gathering information about these humans. As a high-ranking official in the airship company, he had access to such information. He had no qualms about betraying the Council of Elders and had quickly delivered the documents to Jasmine.

    “Well?”

Adele leaned in, her head resting on Jasmine’s shoulder, her eyes scanning the documents. They stated that the oldest of these researchers was almost eighty years old. They had been well-cared for by the Council of Elders ever since they had started their research. The humans who had joined the banking system had also received special treatment.

Would they really abandon their comfortable lives and join the Human Resistance movement?

  • The Vampire Eldest Miss Thinks I Like Her 110

Chapter 110: What The Hell Is This Embroidery?

The male vampire nodded, satisfied with the expected answer. Although he thought the “most beloved” part was a bit unnecessary, he didn’t suspect anything. He believed he had successfully hypnotized Jasmine, so he sat down in the chair Jasmine had been using, his back to the handkerchief she had embroidered.

He casually picked it up and saw the strange, green… thing.

What the hell is this? It’s hideous.”

    I’ll kill you one day.

Jasmine maintained her blank expression and unfocused gaze, but inwardly, she was fuming. How dare he criticize my work?

But he quickly dismissed the handkerchief and continued questioning Jasmine. “What’s your mistress been doing lately?”

    Jasmine answered honestly, “Making money.”

It was true. The Human Resistance Army’s expenses were giving even Adele a headache. She had to find various ways to generate income, and many of those methods had been suggested by Jasmine. To be precise, for the past few years, Adele’s main focus had been: making money.

The male vampire nodded again. He asked, “And what is she making money for?”

Jasmine knew the answer all too well: to support the Human Resistance Army and overthrow the Council of Elders. But how could she possibly tell him that? Jasmine wasn’t stupid. She knew that Adele had probably been asked similar questions, and if her answer differed from Adele’s, it might cause trouble for her.

So, the best answer was, “I don’t know.”

It was the perfect answer for a maid. How could a lowly servant possibly know her mistress’s financial plans? Would a mistress discuss such matters with her maid?

Jasmine, committed to her role, wouldn’t break character.

The male vampire wasn’t surprised by her answer. He hadn’t expected to glean any real information from a maid. But knowing what Adele had been doing was enough. She was indeed, as his sister had predicted, a vampire obsessed with wealth, no different from any other vampire.

Having finished his official inquiries, he didn’t leave. Instead, he asked curiously, “I heard that Adele Blake doesn’t drink blood, only artificial blood. Is that true?”

    “Yes.”

She’s different from you filthy vampires. Adele is a good girl. Jasmine thought to herself, then she heard the male vampire ask a question she wasn’t sure how to answer, “Really? Then, since she dotes on you so much and takes you everywhere, has she ever drunk your blood?”

Jasmine hesitated for a moment, then chose to be honest. “Yes.” There was a flicker of interest in the male vampire’s eyes. Admitting this might cause trouble for her, but if she lied, and he found out from Blake Castle, the consequences would be even worse.

Hearing her answer, his curiosity intensified. His gaze clearly said: Hmm? A vampire who never drinks blood actually drank your blood? Your blood must be truly special.

He stood up and approached her. Jasmine wavered between two options: Endure it. Even if he wants to drink my blood, I’ll just let him. And, I can’t endure this. If he comes any closer, I’ll punch him.

In the end, she decided: I have such powerful cheat abilities. Why should I put up with this? If he tries to drink my blood, I’ll send him straight to hell.

As he approached, threads extended from beneath her skirt, gathering at her feet, ready to strike. If he took one more step, he would die. But he simply stopped and observed her, clicking his tongue. “The Blake family’s taste is truly consistent. When my sister’s son brought the Lady here to see her, I thought their preferences had changed. But it seems Adele Blake still has a fondness for this type.”

Jasmine couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow inwardly. She discreetly assessed the vampire before her. He did resemble her, with his black hair, pale eyes, and somewhat delicate features.

And from his tone, the “sister” he had mentioned must be Adele’s grandmother. So, this “sister” wasn’t his blood relative, but someone he had a close relationship with.

Adele doesn’t like me for my looks. It’s my sparkling personality that she loves! Jasmine thought indignantly.

In the end, the male vampire didn’t attack Jasmine. He even released her from the hypnosis. “For the sake of my sister’s granddaughter’s maid, I’ll let you off this time. It would be troublesome if I was discovered. Besides, I’ve tasted all kinds of blood. I’m not interested in a little maid’s blood…” His last words were a bit condescending, as if to say that he had tasted delicacies and wouldn’t stoop to drinking her lowly blood.

Jasmine was even more furious. Was her blood something to be compared to others? It was the blood of a cheater, a unique and exquisite delicacy. Of course, he wouldn’t get to taste it. If he dared to come any closer, he would die.

The male vampire left. The hypnosis was lifted, and Jasmine couldn’t help but flip him off. “You got lucky, kid. Consider yourself spared.” She had been ready to kill him and take his belongings, but he had truly been lucky.

After confirming that he wouldn’t return, his speed preventing him from reaching her room and returning to the bunker before dawn, Jasmine headed towards Adele’s residence. She was much faster than him. She overtook him, mentally criticizing his slowness, and took a detour, leaving him far behind.

When she reached Adele’s room, the curtains were still open. Jasmine frowned. Dawn is approaching. If the sunlight comes in, what will she do? But she also knew that Adele had deliberately left them open for her.

So, the first thing she did was close the window and draw the curtains, ensuring that no light could enter. Then she went to Adele’s bedroom. Adele was awake, sitting on the bed, hugging her knees, her bare feet exposed. Seeing Jasmine, a smile appeared on her face, her toes curling.

Adele was so easy to read. Her entire being radiated love for Jasmine. Jasmine stepped closer, bringing a hint of the night’s chill with her.

“Why didn’t you close the window? What if the sun came in?”

“I’m in the bedroom. The sunlight can’t reach me here. And if I closed the window, how would you get in?”

I could get in easily… Jasmine didn’t say anything. She changed the subject. “Have you bathed yet?”

“Not yet. You weren’t here to dry my hair.” Adele reached out, wrapping her arms around Jasmine’s neck, her lips brushing against Jasmine’s. Jasmine’s lips were cold, chilled by the night air. Adele’s lips were also cold.

But as they kissed, Jasmine’s lips warmed, the fire in her heart ignited by Adele’s touch. She pressed her lips against Adele’s, transferring her warmth. The kiss deepened, Adele’s fangs gently grazing Jasmine’s tongue, a silent plea for a more intimate, blood-tinged kiss.

But Adele only teased, not actually drawing blood. They were in the heart of vampire territory, and they were alone. The scent of blood would be impossible to conceal. If other vampires smelled it, it would be troublesome.

When the kiss ended, Adele whispered, “When we get back, I want more kisses.” She lingered on the last two words, her meaning clear. She didn’t want just a superficial kiss. She wanted Jasmine’s blood. Jasmine kissed Adele’s eyelid, making her close her eyes. She heard Jasmine say, “You greedy cat.”

It couldn’t be helped. Jasmine’s blood was simply too delicious. No vampire could resist it.

Jasmine effortlessly lifted Adele into her arms and carried her to the bathroom. While Adele showered, Jasmine filled the bathtub. By the time Adele finished showering, the water temperature was perfect. Adele had been wrapped in a towel, but as she was about to get into the bathtub, she simply removed the towel in front of Jasmine and stepped in.

After so many years of intimacy, Adele was comfortable with Jasmine’s touch and gaze. She no longer felt shy about changing clothes or bathing in front of her, nor did she care if Jasmine heard her showering or saw her body.

Honestly, seeing Adele so comfortable with her, Jasmine missed the old Adele, the one who blushed easily.

Adele settled into the bathtub, the water level rising slightly. Her long silver hair floated on the surface. She reached out, asking Jasmine to dry her arms with a towel. Jasmine obliged, diligently performing her duties as a maid.

They looked like an ordinary mistress and her maid, Jasmine in her maid uniform, tending to Adele. But if they were truly just mistress and maid, Adele would have been hiding behind the towel, her face flushed, urging Jasmine to leave. It was because they were lovers now, because Jasmine had bathed Adele countless times when she was too tired to even lift her arms, that Adele could be so comfortable and relaxed.

After drying her arms, Jasmine moved on to her legs. She mischievously pressed her fingers against the soles of Adele’s feet, making her flinch and whine, “Jasmine!”

Jasmine stopped teasing her and finished washing her body, then wrapped her in a towel and carried her out of the bathtub. Adele, dripping wet, clung to Jasmine, her maid uniform soaked. She giggled happily.

Jasmine knew that this was Adele’s revenge for the earlier teasing.

Adele wasn’t just a greedy cat, but a mischievous one as well.

  • The Vampire Eldest Miss Thinks I Like Her 109

    Chapter 109: A Gentle Reminder

Adele stared at Lady Blake, saying nothing, as if accepting her words.

But in her mind, she was thinking: I was right.

No vampire in this world would ever suspect that a fellow vampire would dedicate their life to creating a new world where all races could coexist peacefully and equally. Even if Adele had explicitly stated her ideals, Lady Blake would have dismissed them as lies, a ploy to deceive humans.

Lady Blake was convinced that Adele was using a facade of kindness to mask her ambition, manipulating humans to further her own goals.

Every member of the Council of Elders knew exactly how much money Adele had earned. After all, all financial transactions went through the banks, and every bank in this world was under the Council’s surveillance. This also meant that Adele’s wealth was staggering, enough to make even the Elders envious. Her farms produced high-quality blood, exquisite fabrics, and fine crafts, generating a constant stream of revenue, like a whale swallowing seawater.

It was this envy that had prompted the Council to summon Adele, to issue a warning.

But what they didn’t know was that although Adele earned a lot, she also spent a lot. However, her expenditures weren’t reflected in her official accounts. After all, those transactions were conducted through unofficial channels, things she couldn’t discuss openly.

Back when Adele had encountered those otherworldly beings on the airship during her first year at the academy, she and Jasmine had realized that there must be a traitor within the vampire ranks. Otherwise, those otherworldly beings wouldn’t have known the passenger manifest or that a member of the Blake family was on board.

Using this clue, along with Jasmine’s extensive network within the Hunter’s Association, they had found the traitor. When Adele had first confronted him, he had been terrified, expecting to be punished, perhaps even subjected to sun exposure. But to his surprise, Adele had come to do business with him.

His connections with otherworldly beings meant that he could obtain many things that were difficult for vampires to acquire. He could also use his position to smuggle goods onto airships. It was thanks to Adele’s wealth and this secret network that the Human Resistance Army had been able to grow to its current size.

This also proved that vampires were truly a race without morals. This vampire had betrayed his own kind for money, and now he was willingly working for Adele, also for money.

Because Adele’s expenditures weren’t reflected in her official accounts, the Council of Elders saw her as a greedy hoarder, sitting on a mountain of wealth, indulging in a life of luxury. What made it even worse was that she had withdrawn most of her funds from the bank, leaving only a small amount to maintain appearances.

Someone who withdrew all their money must be obsessed with wealth.

This was the image the Council of Elders had of Adele. They had lived for so long, they believed they could see through people’s hearts. They thought they understood Adele, what kind of vampire she was.

They were arrogant, judging her character before even meeting her, and every answer she gave only confirmed their preconceived notions. But it was normal for vampires to make such assumptions. After all, that was their nature.

They couldn’t possibly comprehend that someone would willingly sacrifice their own race’s well-being, their own class privileges, to help the poor and oppressed humans.

It was simply inconceivable. An outsider from another world, possessing unimaginable power, had met a naive and innocent vampire girl, and through years of companionship, had taught her the pain of oppression and the cruelty of exploiting the weak.

Adele was different from other vampires. She was noble, her ideals transcending base desires. Jasmine could say this without a hint of sarcasm. She herself couldn’t. She was a prejudiced speciesist, driven by a desire to help humans overthrow vampire rule. But Adele was different. She was a true idealist, yearning for peace and equality.

Such individuals were rare, even in Jasmine’s previous world. Even among humans, there were divisions and oppression. A cross-species idealist was simply unheard of. Because they couldn’t comprehend it, they naturally assumed that Adele’s intentions were sinister.

But Adele should be grateful for the Council of Elders’ arrogance and carelessness. After all, she was the one benefiting from it. She wouldn’t go to the Council and say, “You’ve got me all wrong! Take another look! See if I’m really the greedy, self-serving person you think I am.” At least, not before she went insane.

After reprimanding Adele, Lady Blake reverted to her friendly grandmother persona, inviting Adele to another round of tea before finally letting her leave. After Adele was gone, a male vampire appeared in the garden. He said to Lady Blake, “Sister, I think the little girl was lying.”

Lady Blake chuckled, pouring herself another cup of tea. But this time, she added a sugar cube infused with human blood, not artificial blood. She said to her brother, “Didn’t she bring a human maid? Her precious favorite, the one she takes everywhere? That maid is currently waiting outside. You have some free time. Go see if you can pry any useful information out of her.”

Her brother agreed and immediately left.

Jasmine, waiting above, thirteen floors away, should have been unable to sense Adele’s presence. But she couldn’t sense Adele, it didn’t mean she couldn’t sense her own threads. She had sensed Adele descending with the bracelet, stopping at a certain point.

About fifty meters… If each floor is about three meters high, that’s sixteen floors, Jasmine thought, calculating based on her knowledge from her previous world. But the Council of Elders was wealthy. Three meters per floor seemed too low. And vampires were obsessed with the number thirteen. Thirteen clans, thirteen walls… Jasmine bet this bunker also had thirteen floors.

She sensed Adele ascending after a long pause, probably having finished her meeting. She decided to wait for Adele to emerge before returning to Adele’s residence within the second wall. But as Adele left, before Jasmine could follow, she sensed another presence rapidly approaching the top level, then rushing out at high speed.

Jasmine thought, This person is leaving the bunker in such a hurry, and dawn is approaching. There must be something going on. She decided to follow and see what it was about. But with Adele being escorted by someone else, she couldn’t approach her to talk.

So, she used an unusual method. She controlled a thread, extending it from the bracelet and gently tickling Adele’s wrist. Adele instinctively grabbed her wrist, pressing down on the thread. This was Jasmine’s way of informing Adele. Even if Adele didn’t know what was happening, she would understand that this was a signal from Jasmine. And the lack of urgency meant that Jasmine wasn’t in danger, just delayed by something.

Adele would be worried, but she wouldn’t show it.

After notifying Adele, Jasmine followed the other vampire. She kept a safe distance, but as she followed, she realized: This guy is heading towards my inn! She quickly overtook him, taking a detour and returning to her room first. She sat down on a chair, turned on the lamp, and pretended to be sewing.

Jasmine wasn’t actually skilled at needlework. At the castle and the farm, she had always left such tasks to the human maids. But as a maid, it was normal for her to carry needles and thread, right? And her signature weapon was threads, so having a sewing kit was perfectly reasonable.

Besides, although she wasn’t skilled at sewing, she could at least pretend. Jasmine bet that the vampire who had just left the bunker was even less skilled than her.

She pretended to sew for a while, then she heard the vampire landing silently outside her window, peering inside to see what she was doing. But after a long time, he still hadn’t made a move.

This put Jasmine in a difficult position. She was almost done sewing, but… the handkerchief she was working on was incredibly ugly. It had originally been embroidered with a beautiful jasmine flower, but Jasmine’s clumsy attempts had added a hideous green leaf beside it.

Jasmine sighed inwardly, then decided to pretend she was done sewing and was going to bed.

She stretched, preparing to turn off the lamp, when the vampire outside finally entered. Jasmine, pretending to be a weak and helpless maid, turned around with a look of fear. She saw a pair of crimson eyes, glowing brighter than Adele’s.

    “What’s your name?” he asked.

Jasmine guessed that he was using hypnosis on her, testing her. This guy must be old, perhaps over a thousand years old. But the hypnosis still had no effect on her.

She pretended to be under his control, her eyes unfocused, her expression blank. She answered obediently, “My name is Jasmine.”

“What’s your relationship with Adele Blake?”

We’re lovers, bound by life and death.

Jasmine wanted to throw those words in his face, but she couldn’t. She could only say, “Miss Adele is my most… beloved… mistress.” She deliberately paused before the words “beloved” and “mistress,” but this vampire wouldn’t understand her true meaning.

  • The Vampire Eldest Miss Thinks I Like Her 108

    Chapter 108: Grandmother

After Adele stepped into the garden, the vampire lady closed the heavy double doors behind her, leaving her alone in this tranquil space. Adele walked along the garden path, instinctively glancing upwards. The ceiling was incredibly high, as if two or three floors had been combined to create this space. It wasn’t a plain concrete ceiling, but a shimmering expanse of stars.

Countless stars twinkled above her. Adele knew they were artificial, crafted from magic stones.

Magic stones were expensive, exorbitantly so, enough to make Jasmine cringe. But in this bunker, they seemed to be used lavishly, even adorning the ceiling as stars. She lowered her gaze, examining the camellias surrounding her. They were blooming beautifully, a testament to meticulous care.

But underground, camellias couldn’t possibly thrive. Without sunlight, they would wither and die. Adele guessed that magic and magic stones must be constantly supplying them with life force, allowing them to bloom in this subterranean world.

A winding path led through the camellia garden. Adele followed it, arriving at the pavilion in the center. It was a classical structure with Roman columns and a beautiful dome. In the center stood a white-painted wrought iron table and chairs. One of the chairs was already occupied.

The figure sitting there was facing Adele. As Adele’s eyes met hers, she fell silent. She could sense a blood connection.

The beautiful vampire lady wore a simple white gown, her long silver hair cascading down her back, almost reaching the floor. Her crimson eyes, framed by silver lashes and brows, observed Adele with amusement. Her pale skin added to her ethereal appearance, making her seem like a wisp of smoke, ready to dissipate with the slightest breeze.

Her hands were clasped on the table, her head resting on them, her silver hair spilling over her shoulders. A cup of steaming tea sat before her. She smiled at Adele and said softly, “Please, have a seat, my child.”

Adele nodded and sat down opposite her without hesitation. The lady poured her a cup of tea, placing it before her, even pushing the sugar bowl closer. “I know you don’t like blood-infused sugar cubes. These are made with artificial blood. You can enjoy them without worry.”

Adele had only ever consumed artificial blood, but this was supposed to be a secret, known only to her family and the maids at the castle. The lady before her must have learned this from… her parents.

But it didn’t matter. Adele didn’t find drinking artificial blood to be shameful. It was her parents who had insisted on keeping it a secret, worried about what others might think. Adele calmly added a sugar cube to her tea, stirring it gently with a teaspoon, waiting for it to dissolve before taking a sip.

Then she put down her cup and looked at the lady. “How should I address you?”

The lady smiled. “If we’re talking about family ties, I’m your grandmother.”

Adele understood. This was the current Blake representative in the Council of Elders. The Council of Elders was composed of respected elders from the thirteen clans. The core members were thirteen elders, representing each clan. There were also outer members, also from the thirteen clans.

But once they became members of the Council of Elders, they were no longer bound to their families, only retaining their clan affiliation. Adele’s father was almost a thousand years old. This meant that her grandmother was at least two thousand years old, a true “old geezer” in Jasmine’s words.

But whether she was one of the core thirteen elders, Adele didn’t know. The list of elders was kept secret. Because they were afraid of death. Previously, Adele might have thought it was to maintain their mystique and authority, but now she realized that fear was the main reason.

Adele nodded, acknowledging the lady’s seniority. But she didn’t address her as “grandmother.” Instead, she said, “Then Lady Blake, why have you—why has the Council of Elders summoned me?”

Lady Blake chuckled. “No need to rush. I just wanted to chat with my lovely granddaughter.”

    Let’s not pretend.

Living in a fortress like this, hidden underground, eternally deprived of moonlight, their identities shrouded in secrecy, terrified of death… how could these elders summon Adele, someone they had never met, someone they didn’t trust, just for a casual chat?

Seeing Adele’s skepticism, Lady Blake even feigned a hurt expression, dabbing at her nonexistent tears. “My dear granddaughter doesn’t even believe her own grandmother. How heartbreaking! I even held you when you were a baby…”

Adele interrupted her, her face expressionless. “Lady Blake, I have a good memory. It’s only been twenty years. I remember everything clearly. You never held me.” Her demeanor was reminiscent of Jasmine, her expression a perfect imitation.

Lady Blake, instead of being offended by being exposed, simply sighed. “Vampires have such good memories. But I’ve lived for so long, two thousand years. I can’t possibly remember things from my infancy like you.”

You claim to have lived for so long, and yet you’re so terrified of death. Adele didn’t know how to respond to her grandmother’s contradictory behavior.

After a few more pleasantries, Lady Blake finally got to the point. Her tone shifted, “Adele Blake, why are you giving humans more than they deserve?”

Adele’s hand, holding her teacup, froze. Her eyes lost their focus, her expression becoming vacant. She almost blurted out her true feelings. “Because I want to create a…” She stopped abruptly, her hand gripping the table, her breath coming in gasps, beads of sweat forming on her forehead.

She realized: Lady Blake had just tried to hypnotize her. The tea, the friendly demeanor, the casual conversation… it had all been a ploy to make her relax her guard.

Based on her years of pretending to be hypnotized, Jasmine had developed a theory about vampire hypnosis. It was similar to psychology in her previous life. Hypnosis wasn’t omnipotent, and it wasn’t easy to hypnotize someone against their will. As she had mentioned before, individuals with strong willpower were more resistant to mental magic. And vampires, being naturally resistant to each other’s magic, required additional effort to be hypnotized.

The easiest way was to create a comfortable environment, to make the target feel safe and relaxed. This would significantly enhance the effectiveness of the hypnosis. Using hypnosis in combat wasn’t very effective, as Adele’s encounter with the school doctor had proven. It was easily broken because both parties were highly alert and tense.

There were exceptions, of course. If a vampire was exceptionally powerful, their magic could easily overwhelm their opponent, allowing them to hypnotize them effortlessly.

But clearly, the gap between Lady Blake and Adele wasn’t that large. Lady Blake was strong. Adele wasn’t arrogant enough to deny that a two-thousand-year-old vampire was more powerful than her. The fact that Lady Blake had almost succeeded in hypnotizing her, even with Adele on high alert, was a testament to her strength.

If Adele had let her guard down for even a moment, she would have been completely under Lady Blake’s control, revealing all her secrets.

For a fleeting moment, Adele regretted coming here. But then she thought, I’m strong too. I’m already here. As long as I stay vigilant, I won’t be hypnotized. Her gaze hardened, her breathing steadying. She looked at Lady Blake, who was calmly sipping her tea. “I wouldn’t consider a grandmother who tries to hypnotize her granddaughter upon their first meeting to be a good grandmother.”

Lady Blake didn’t seem fazed by Adele’s accusation. She continued sipping her tea, then she put down her cup and asked, “Then without resorting to hypnosis, let me ask you this, as a member of the Council of Elders: Adele, what are you trying to achieve?”

Lying now would be easily detected by Lady Blake, putting Adele in danger. But only a fool would tell the truth at this moment.

So, Adele chose a half-truth. “I want to create a different world,” she said. Lady Blake remained silent, waiting for her to continue.

“A world where vampires and humans can coexist peacefully. At least, not like it is now.”

Lady Blake chuckled softly. “But you’re still exploiting humans, aren’t you? You’ve simply disguised it with a layer of sugar coating.” Her eyes turned cold. “Adele Blake, do you think your true intentions are a secret?”

Adele’s heart skipped a beat, but her expression remained unchanged. She stared at Lady Blake, waiting for her to continue.

“You want to create a seemingly peaceful world? But the only one truly benefiting from your actions is you. Do I need to remind you of the wealth you’ve amassed these past few years? You’re a bold one, Adele Blake. Trying to create a world centered around yourself.”

“However, I admire your ambition.” After reprimanding Adele, Lady Blake’s tone softened. “Your system is indeed effective. Dangle a carrot in front of humans, and they become quite diligent. I believe you have the potential to join the Council of Elders one day. But you’re still too young. You’re wearing your ambition on your sleeve.”
