    Chapter 476: [Volt]

Everyone present knew that Shien was strong.

He wouldn’t have been able to single-handedly subjugate the [Assassination Branch] otherwise.

He wouldn’t have been able to single-handedly decimate nearly half of the Kingdom Knight Order otherwise.

He wouldn’t have been able to tame the black dragon of Atlus otherwise.

He wouldn’t have been able to make the Lucica family suffer and level the entire noble district otherwise.

Even Harvis, the Imperial Prince and a descendant of the Hero, lost to Shien. This had already proven Shien’s strength.

However, even so, no one expected Shien to be able to rival Aldia.

He was the strongest human, the Kingdom’s number one knight.

The Commander of the Royal Knights, known as the strongest below the transcendent level, was a symbol of invincibility in the Kingdom.

Even legendary experts from various races and realms were wary of Aldia. Who would have thought that he would lose to a young noble of adventurer origin?

No one would have thought that!

Therefore, seeing Shien send Aldia flying with a single sword strike, crashing into the ground and buried by rubble, everyone, including Ancil, Lia, and Charl, was shocked.

Even legendary-level experts like Jacinta, Rockto, and Yuler’s expressions turned serious, their gazes towards Shien completely different from before.

Because they knew that this was someone who could threaten them.

Although he was excessively young, not even twenty, let alone thirty, and no one wanted to believe that such a young person could threaten them, the facts spoke for themselves.

“How did he suddenly become so strong?”

    Harvis was also shocked.

Although Harvis had fought Shien before and knew his strength, Shien’s strength at that time hadn’t shocked him too much.

Harvis had even admitted defeat before Shien used his Unique Skill. That wasn’t because he acknowledged his inferiority, but because he was deliberately trying to gain Shien’s favor for his own purposes.

Of course, Harvis didn’t think he could definitely defeat Shien if he went all out.

Shien was still very strong, being able to single-handedly decimate nearly half of the Kingdom Knight Order and subjugate the [Assassination Branch], proving his strength.

But Harvis had also heard that Shien’s Unique Skill was the ability to adjust his level and skills under certain conditions, not a combat skill like his. Therefore, if he went all out, even if he couldn’t guarantee victory, Harvis didn’t think he would easily lose to Shien.

Therefore, before this, although Harvis valued Shien, he only humbled himself slightly, not excessively.

But now, the strength Shien displayed truly shocked Harvis.

That terrifying teleportation ability and dazzling swordsmanship, even Aldia was completely suppressed and sent flying. If it were Harvis, he wouldn’t be confident he could block it.

No, let alone block it, he wouldn’t even be able to hold on for long.

Perhaps, with the strength Shien displayed now, whether he could even last ten seconds was uncertain.

    Harvis was dumbfounded and shocked.

The girls in the Buztout mansion were equally dumbfounded and shocked.

“Mr. Shien actually sent Commander Aldia flying?”

    Lumia couldn’t believe her eyes.

    “So… so amazing…!”

    Melika’s eyes shone brightly.

    “He’s become so strong…”

Even Vivian was a bit dazed.

Originally, these girls were at a loss when Shien suddenly started fighting Aldia.

But now, seeing Shien gain the upper hand, they were both incredulous and surprised.

Only Airi, staring intently at Shien, murmured,

“His performance is not bad, but it’s not that easy to defeat that knight…”

Only Airi could see it, right?

    No, Shien also noticed.

With the perception of [Outer Awareness of Heaven’s Decree], Shien could clearly see that Aldia’s magic power wasn’t weakening, but becoming even more powerful.

    “Come out.”

Shien looked at the crater ahead and said calmly.

“It would be strange if that could defeat you. Stop pretending, Commander.”

Shien’s words made the crater, where rubble was still falling, tremble.

    “Bang—!”

The next moment, an astonishing magic power erupted from within the crater, sending debris flying as a figure slowly emerged.

    Seeing this, everyone’s expression changed.

Aldia, walking out of the crater, was completely unharmed, except for some dust on his clothes.

    “That was a strong attack.”

Aldia held his greatsword with one hand, his muscles bulging, veins visible, but his face remained impassive as a suffocating pressure emanated from him.

That pressure told everyone present one thing.

    Aldia was getting serious.

“It seems I can’t defeat you without using some real strength.”

    Aldia said calmly.

“I haven’t used this move in a long time. I might not be able to control it, so be careful.”

Saying so, Aldia stomped his foot, shattering the ground, and charged towards Shien.

His speed was so fast that it created a sonic boom and a gust of wind.

    However, seeing this, Shien frowned.

    “A frontal assault?”

Was this Knight Commander looking down on him?

Knowing that he could teleport and had excellent eyesight, he actually chose a frontal attack, such a direct and simple charge. Wasn’t this looking down on him?

But just as Shien had this thought, a sense of danger arose in his heart.

Shien’s [Outer Awareness of Heaven’s Decree] not only granted him various perception abilities but also enhanced his intuition beyond his five senses. Therefore, Shien trusted his instincts implicitly.

Recalling Aldia’s words just now, Shien had reason to believe that there was something more to this action.

    Since that was the case…

    “Then I won’t take it head-on.”

Shien decisively used the teleportation ability of [Outer Perception of Heaven’s Decree] and vanished from the spot, appearing in another location.

    “Boom!”

Aldia’s greatsword struck where Shien had been a moment ago, creating a loud explosion.

This attack was powerful, but it missed Shien.

However, the sense of danger in Shien’s heart, who had teleported to another location, didn’t decrease, but instead suddenly intensified.

    “…!”

Shien’s heart trembled, and he immediately prepared to teleport again.

Unfortunately, it was too late to react.

    “Bang!”

A terrifying force suddenly struck Shien and exploded, sending him flying as if hit by a meteor.

    “This is…!?”

Shien felt his head spin. After recovering, he adjusted his posture and landed on the ground, his feet plowing through the earth, sending debris and dust flying, leaving two deep furrows.

This showed how powerful that attack was.

Fortunately, Shien had the protection of [Inner Manifestation of Heaven’s Decree]. At max level, it could almost block all attacks below the legendary level, and even attacks above the legendary level, if they weren’t strong enough, couldn’t harm him, leaving Shien completely unharmed.

But just as Shien steadied himself, Aldia had already appeared before him.

    “Boom!”

The broadsword slashed down again, creating a sonic boom.

Shien instinctively raised his Holy Sword and blocked Aldia’s heavy blow with a clang, the ground beneath his feet shattering again.

But almost at the same time, an invisible force, just like before, struck Shien from the side.

    “Bang!”

With an explosive sound, Shien was sent flying again, and this time, he couldn’t stabilize himself. Like Aldia before, he crashed into the ground, shattering it.

The tide of the battle instantly turned.

    “Mr. Shien!”

    “Mr. Shien!”

Lumia and Melika couldn’t help but cry out.

    “Shien…!”

Even Lia leaned forward, an anxious expression on her face.

Ancil, on the other hand, seemed relieved.

“As expected, no one can defeat Aldia.”

Ancil seemed reassured by his knight’s strength.

The others, seeing this scene, also suppressed their shock.

Rockto even stared intently at Aldia and whispered,

    “That’s Aldia Elvenbein’s Unique Skill—[Volt].”

    —[Volt].

That was Aldia’s signature Unique Skill.

Harvis had also heard of this Unique Skill.

“Being able to freely manipulate the direction, position, and even state of his attacks with his will, making them unavoidable and unblockable, even overlapping attacks and increasing their power to another level, this is the effect of Aldia Elvenbein’s Unique Skill, [Volt], right?”

    Harvis turned to Rockto.

    Rockto nodded.

“This Unique Skill is very simple and crude, without much complexity. When Aldia first became famous, it was even considered a minor skill that could only be used for small tricks, but Aldia used it to forge his reputation.”

“When he uses this Unique Skill, his attacks will never miss.”

“Therefore, it’s also called the ‘Spear of Unerring Accuracy’ by some.”

    “But it’s not just that.”

“Look, Aldia’s true strength is about to be revealed.”

With Rockto’s words, the situation on the field changed.

    “Swish!”

Shien suddenly appeared behind Aldia, a sharp glint in his eyes, the Holy Sword in his hand like a cold arc of light, slashing mercilessly towards Aldia.

Sensing the movement behind him, Aldia’s expression remained unchanged. He didn’t even turn his head, simply raising his greatsword and slashing at the air before him.

    But this slash wouldn’t miss.

Because, under the effect of [Volt], the power of this slash was redirected to Shien’s side, hitting him directly.

    “Bang!”

The invisible force exploded beside Shien, creating a violent shockwave.

    “Ugh…!”

Shien endured it, as if he had already anticipated this, and forcibly steadied himself, preventing himself from being blown away.

Only with the protection of [Inner Manifestation of Heaven’s Decree] could Shien withstand the attack of a top-tier legendary expert so directly.

And while enduring this attack, Shien continued to slash with his Holy Sword, seemingly intending to exchange blows with Aldia.

    Unfortunately…

    “Clang!”

Just as Shien’s Holy Sword was about to hit Aldia, without any warning, it was as if it had collided with an invisible weapon, sparks flying as it was deflected.

Aldia simply continued his slash towards the air in front of him, but that slash, defying physics, changed direction and appeared behind Aldia, deflecting Shien’s attack.

Then, Aldia punched the air before him.

    “Bang!”

Shien felt a punch in his abdomen, and he was finally sent flying like a cannonball.

And Aldia, his expression still impassive, continued to punch the air before him, unleashing heavy blows.

    “Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang…!”

The next moment, Shien, who had been sent flying, was bombarded by punches appearing from all directions, bouncing around in mid-air like a pinball.

Aldia didn’t even move, his attacks all landing on Shien from different directions and positions, pummeling him like a sandbag. The scene was astonishing.

    “This…”

    Harvis was stunned.

Rockto’s expression also turned increasingly serious.

“See?” Rockto said in a deep voice, “This is Aldia Elvenbein’s Unique Skill. Even standing still, his attacks can continuously hit his opponent, and all attacks against him can’t reach him, because as long as he makes a move, that attack will either send the incoming opponent flying or deflect their attack. He has no weaknesses.”

    “The spear of unerring accuracy.”

    “The shield of absolute defense.”

    “The sword of certain death.”

“Aldia Elvenbein’s [Volt] has various titles.”

“This is the current strongest human, the Kingdom’s number one knight, known as the strongest below the Three Goddesses and the Six Demon Lords.”

It was with this ability that Aldia gradually made a name for himself, and after breaking through to the legendary level, quickly rose to the top of the human race.

Until he became the strongest human.

Chapter 475: “So, You’re Trying to Steal My Girl?”

    “Thud!”

As this clear landing sound echoed, all those hidden in the shadows were startled.

The person who appeared before Shien was beyond everyone’s expectations.

    “Aldia!?”

Ancil abruptly turned his head and looked behind him but couldn’t see the knight who had always been by his side.

    Yes.

The opponent who appeared before Shien was Aldia.

    “It’s him…!?”

“How did he get out there!?”

    “Could it be…?”

    Everyone was in an uproar.

    “It’s actually him?”

Rockto’s expression also changed, and then an even stronger fighting spirit burned in his eyes.

“This will be a good show.”

Harvis, Jacinta, and Yuler had this thought.

    “Master Aldia?”

Lia covered her mouth, and even Charl beside her seemed startled.

Shien, on the other hand, looked at Aldia, who had suddenly appeared before him, with an amused expression.

“I didn’t expect you to be the first one to show up.”

Shien calmed down Yulin, who was about to make a threatening gesture, and turned his gaze to the other side.

There, Aldia stood expressionlessly, holding his sword.

Then, the strongest knight of the human race spoke.

“I said before that I’m interested in your strength, especially now that you seem different from before.” Aldia stared intently at Shien, a rare flicker of emotion in his eyes. He said in a deep voice, “Although I feel a bit bad for His Majesty, this seems like a good opportunity. This was your intention, wasn’t it?”

Aldia had seen through Shien’s thoughts.

He knew that Shien was looking for an opponent to test his current strength.

    Aldia understood this impulse.

“Back then, after entering the inner sanctum, achieving a breakthrough, and becoming a legendary-level expert, I was also eager to find someone to test my strength, just like you.” Aldia said, “Or rather, everyone who entered the inner sanctum and gained something felt this way after coming out. It’s just that they weren’t as reckless as you, directly releasing their magic power and provoking all the experts in the capital.”

“Really?” Shien raised an eyebrow and said nonchalantly, “So, you already knew that I entered the inner sanctum?”

“It’s not a secret.” Aldia said calmly. “Is it?”

    Indeed.

The fact that Shien and Lucy visited the temple and were preparing to enter the inner sanctum wasn’t only known to the Holy Sword Knights, but also to all the priests in the temple.

Moreover, with Shien’s sudden increase in strength, anyone who knew about the inner sanctum’s existence would naturally think that he had already entered it.

    Since that was the case…

“Many people are curious about your current strength.” Aldia looked directly at Shien and said, “Including me.”

    Shien narrowed his eyes.

He was still a bit surprised.

Although he knew that Aldia was paying attention to him, Shien hadn’t expected that when he urgently needed someone to test his current strength, the first person to appear before him would be Aldia.

This Kingdom’s Shield, who always appeared cold-blooded, ruthless, and indifferent, actually abandoned his duty of protecting the king and appeared before him to test his strength. How could Shien not be surprised?

    However…

    “Alright.”

    Shien couldn’t help but smile.

    And he smiled happily.

    The reason was simple.

    “As an opponent, you’re qualified.”

As the Commander of the Kingdom’s Royal Knights, a descendant of the Hero like the royal family, and a legendary-level expert at level ninety-eight, Aldia was known as the strongest knight of the human race, second to none.

Even Lucy had mentioned more than once that in the Kingdom, the only person she wasn’t confident she could defeat was this Commander of the Royal Knights.

This Commander could even suppress Diere in her demonized state and had once been by Diere’s side. Even when Shien and Lucy were fighting with all their might, this Commander could sever both their [Magic Sword] attacks with a single sword strike. His strength was astonishing.

Now, Shien could use [Outer Awareness of Heaven’s Decree] to see the terrifying magic power burning like magma within Aldia, telling him how powerful this opponent was.

Frankly speaking, in the current era, besides those transcendent beings like the Three Goddesses and the Six Demon Lords, the strongest in all of Omnipotence was this level ninety-eight Commander of the Royal Knights.

His strength was said to be no less than any of the thirteen human heroes who fought against the Beast Demon a thousand years ago. He was the current strongest human, the pillar of the Kingdom. Even a legendary expert like Rockto wanted to challenge him.

If such an opponent wasn’t qualified, then who was?

    “Let me see then.”

    Aldia drew his sword first.

“Let me see if you have the ability to force me to use my Unique Skill.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the surrounding air changed.

    It became incredibly heavy.

The terrifying magic power, burning like magma within Aldia, was unleashed.

That magic power seemed to ignite the entire world, the temperature rising rapidly.

Shien, without hesitation, drew his Holy Sword.

    “Clang—!”

At this moment, a massive broadsword suddenly slashed down from before Shien, striking the Holy Sword he had just drawn, creating a resounding clang like a bell.

A powerful gust of wind erupted.

The terrifying force shattered the ground beneath Shien’s feet.

Dust and debris exploded around Shien, rising like a sandstorm.

Aldia’s figure then appeared before Shien, maintaining his sword-slashing posture, confronting Shien.

This scene was exactly the same as when Shien and Lucy were fighting in the palace arena, and after their battle was stopped, Aldia suddenly attacked Shien.

    The only difference was…

“You’ve become much stronger than before.”

Aldia looked at Shien, who had blocked his attack with the Holy Sword, his expression unchanged, even looking somewhat relaxed, not showing any signs of strain, and said these words.

Back then, although Shien blocked Aldia’s sword strike, he was almost injured by the impact and felt immense pressure.

And this time, Shien effortlessly blocked Aldia’s probing attack with just one hand.

    Shien grinned.

“Speaking of which, we haven’t settled the score from that time yet.”

When these words reached Aldia’s ears, his pupils constricted.

Because a hand suddenly reached out from behind him and landed on his shoulder.

Shien’s figure appeared behind Aldia like a ghost.

“Just in time, let’s settle the score from that time.”

As these words reached Aldia’s ears, he shuddered, a sense of crisis rising in his heart.

    “Clang—!”

Shien’s Holy Sword slashed down, mercilessly aimed at Aldia’s head.

    “Boom!”

An explosive sound echoed in the plaza in front of the Buztout mansion.

A terrifying shockwave erupted there, creating a gust of wind and kicking up dust, as if an explosion had occurred.

    “They’re fighting!”

“Earl Buztout and Marquis Elvenbein are fighting!”

The experts hidden in the shadows couldn’t help but exclaim.

    “Aldia…”

Ancil also held his breath, his attention completely captured by the sudden battle, no longer caring about anything else.

    “Roar!”

Yulin also rose into the sky, roaring excitedly as she watched the fierce battle.

In the plaza, amidst the storm of dust and debris, two figures, like meteors chasing each other, suddenly dashed out.

    “Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang…!”

With a series of intense metallic clangs, the two meteor-like figures unleashed a flurry of sword strikes, the Holy Sword and the greatsword colliding at a terrifying speed.

    Sparks flew with every collision.

    Shockwaves erupted with every clash.

Shien and Aldia instantly entered a fierce battle, like thunder clashing against lightning, a needle against an awl, or even a meteor colliding with the earth, instantly erupting with astonishing power.

And in this fierce battle, the one who gained the upper hand first was Shien.

    “Swish!” “Swish!” “Swish!” …

Shien’s figure not only moved as fast as a meteor, but also flickered like a phantom, appearing to Aldia’s left, then his right, then in front of him, then behind him, instantly creating countless afterimages, as if forming an army, relentlessly attacking Aldia.

    “He can actually teleport…!?”

Aldia’s expression changed upon seeing this.

Teleportation was a very high-level ability, basically only appearing among Spatial Magic users. It was almost impossible for a warrior who hadn’t learned Spatial Magic to possess such an ability.

Aldia had heard that some legendary-level experts had coincidentally learned some skills in this area, but those skills usually had limitations, either requiring being attacked to activate, only usable for dodging, or only usable under specific conditions. He had never heard of a warrior who could teleport at will like this.

This was an ability that directly connected with space, something even experts of the Divine Race and the Demon Race had difficulty achieving.

And Shien seemed to have mastered this god-like ability.

No, not just this one divine skill.

At this moment, the swordsmanship Shien displayed was also god-like.

    “Swish!”

Shien suddenly appeared before Aldia, the Holy Sword in his hand like an arc of light under the moonlight, unleashing countless sword strikes in an instant.

His attacks were sometimes fast, sometimes slow, sometimes heavy, sometimes light, sometimes ordinary, sometimes concealing deadly intent, as if the sword strikes themselves had gained sentience, making Aldia repeatedly misjudge the timing and strength of his defense.

Such divine swordsmanship, coupled with the ability to teleport, instantly put Aldia at a disadvantage.

If it weren’t for his high level, strength, and rich combat experience, Aldia was certain that he would have already been knocked down by those terrifying sword strikes, unable to fight back.

    “You’ve actually become this strong…!?”

Aldia knew he couldn’t hold back anymore and unhesitantly unleashed his magic power, gathering his [Magic Sword].

However, at the same time, among the countless sword strikes, one suddenly pierced through the air, like the deadly stinger of a scorpion’s tail, striking the greatsword where Aldia was gathering his [Magic Sword].

    “Bang!”

Aldia’s gathering [Magic Sword] instantly dissipated, his magic power forcibly dispersed.

    “What!?”

    Aldia couldn’t believe his eyes.

At this moment, Shien’s voice came,

“There’s nothing to be surprised about.” Shien said, “To use [Magic Sword], the most basic condition is to gather enough magic power on the weapon and form a magic blade.”

“Therefore, with keen eyesight, agile movements, high-level swordsmanship, and powerful magic control, one can use their own magic power, through the collision of weapons, to disperse the opponent’s forming [Magic Sword] and prevent it from solidifying.”

This was an ability that only the current Shien possessed.

[Outer Manifestation of Heaven’s Decree] granted him unparalleled perfect combat techniques, his weapon skills reaching the divine realm.

The enhanced perception and senses from [Outer Awareness of Heaven’s Decree] also gave Shien unparalleled eyesight in battle.

[Outer Perception of Heaven’s Decree] gave Shien the ability to teleport, providing him with sufficient agility and speed.

Coupled with the unparalleled magic control brought by [Inner Perception of Heaven’s Decree], Shien was finally able to achieve this astonishing feat.

“I’ve indeed become different from before.”

Shien’s voice was filled with amusement.

“You’ll suffer if you underestimate me, Commander Aldia!”

As he spoke, Shien appeared above Aldia’s head, like a bolt of lightning, diving down and raising his Holy Sword, unleashing a strike towards Aldia’s head with a sonic boom.

    “Clang—!”

Aldia only had time to raise his broadsword above his head in a hurry, then with a loud clang, he was sent flying by a terrifying force, crashing towards the ground.

“Tit for tat. This is for last time.”

    Shien’s voice echoed.

    “Bang!”

Aldia crashed into the ground, creating a cloud of dust and a shockwave, buried by the debris from the shattered ground.

    “Aldia!”

    Ancil couldn’t help but exclaim.

    “How could this be…!?”

    Lia also exclaimed in shock.

    “Commander…!”

This time, it was Charl who covered her mouth.

As for the experts hidden in the shadows, they all gasped.

That Aldia was actually defeated like this?

    H-how was this possible?

  • The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated 474

Chapter 474: “My Opponent Has Appeared.”

    “This magic power is…?”

At this moment, powerful individuals in the royal capital raised their heads one after another, looking towards the Buztout mansion.

These were individuals either above level eighty, possessing potent Unique Skills, or with sharp battle instincts. They all sensed this astonishing magic power.

However, although astonishing, this magic power was also incredibly restrained and subtle, undetectable without considerable strength.

Under such circumstances, these experts understood.

    “This is a provocation!”

    Indeed.

    This was a provocation.

The owner of the magic power was provoking the strong in the capital, flaunting their power and battle intent.

Especially Shien’s acquaintances, who easily discerned the source of this magic power.

“What is he up to again?”

Lucy stood up with a look of exasperation.

    “Really…”

Anima smiled wryly, at a loss for words.

    “How arrogant!”

    Lildas snorted coldly, seemingly disdainful.

But several individuals, after narrowing their eyes, set off without hesitation towards the Buztout mansion.

In the bustling royal capital, an unseen storm was brewing.

    Noble District.

After half a month, the western district of the capital, previously razed by [Auroras Meteoric], had been rebuilt with magnificent buildings.

Thanks to magic and magical tools, constructing luxurious mansions didn’t take long in this world.

There were even court builders in the palace, some with earth magic, others with construction skills, and even some with Unique Skills in this area, drastically increasing building efficiency. If they took action, the noble district could be completely rebuilt in less than ten days.

Perhaps this was one reason why the Kingdom hadn’t reprimanded Shien after he leveled the noble district.

Not only did Shien have powerful backing, but also, without casualties, the destruction of some buildings wasn’t a serious crime.

After the noble district was destroyed, the royal palace took on the reconstruction, dispatching the court builders.

Therefore, half a month later, the noble district had been rebuilt, not only showing no trace of the previous devastation but even appearing more luxurious.

However, whether intentionally or not, the area around the Buztout mansion at the center of the noble district seemed much more spacious.

As if showing their respect and perhaps fear of the Buztout family, the nobles who previously lived nearby had all rebuilt their mansions further away, creating a large plaza around the Buztout mansion.

This plaza was eventually designated as part of the Buztout territory.

In other words, Shien’s property had expanded.

At this moment, Shien emerged from his mansion and walked onto the plaza.

“Quite a few people have come.”

Glancing around, Shien easily detected several subtle auras.

With [Outer Awareness of Heaven’s Decree], Shien not only possessed enhanced senses of danger, hostility, magic, traps, curses, evil, and negative energy, but his five senses—sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch—and even his sixth sense, had become unprecedentedly sharp. He could also see through obstructions, concealment, and illusions. Unless it was a power beyond the level limit, nothing could escape Shien’s perception.

Shien could clearly sense that quite a few powerful individuals had gathered around the plaza.

But they hadn’t revealed themselves, seemingly unsure of Shien’s intentions, and were observing in secret.

    “A bunch of cowards.”

    Shien scoffed inwardly.

Little did he know that the experts around him were shocked.

Although Shien didn’t look different from before, his astonishing yet subtle magic power was continuously rising, like a volcano before eruption.

They couldn’t imagine how terrifying it would be if Shien unleashed his magic power.

Shien’s magic power was already very strong, rivaling Lucy’s, whose birth had startled the Divine Realm.

Now, Shien’s magic power had undoubtedly become even more terrifying and powerful, on a completely different level.

    “What’s going on?”

“Why has he suddenly become so terrifying?”

    “Was he this strong before?”

“Was he holding back last time? Or did he make a breakthrough during this half month?”

    These renowned experts were shocked.

Shien’s magic power had increased by at least a hundredfold.

Having fused all his magic power amplification skills into [Inner Perception of Heaven’s Decree], a top-tier amplification skill, Shien’s magic power not only received a massive boost, but with his level increasing to seventy-seven, his magic power had also grown considerably.

The creation of the seven Heaven’s Decree skills had pushed Shien’s power to new heights.

Therefore, Shien urgently wanted an opponent to test his current strength.

Thinking of this, Shien’s fighting spirit surged, making his magic power even more terrifying, yet also more concealed.

This made many experts feel suffocated, while others suddenly couldn’t sense anything, making them tremble with fear.

“He can actually make such surging magic power become even more concealed?”

“Just how strong is his magic control?”

    Many experts were shocked.

Not being able to sense it didn’t mean he was weaker, but that his level had risen beyond their reach.

This was a blow to the pride of many experts, making some want to flee.

And those who felt this way naturally weren’t qualified to be Shien’s opponents.

As a result, although more and more experts appeared, none dared to reveal themselves, only holding their breath and staring at Shien with apprehension.

Gradually, figures appeared on the rooftops of the buildings surrounding the plaza, looking at Shien, their thoughts unknown.

“What is he planning to do?”

Harvis, appearing on a rooftop at some point, murmured nervously.

Beside him, Rockto stared intently at Shien, a look of excitement in his eyes, his fighting spirit burning.

The same scene was happening on other rooftops.

“Good heavens, his strength increased so quickly?”

Jacinta narrowed his eyes, a glint of bloodlust and battle lust flashing within.

Behind Jacinta, Jace and Liece looked at Shien, their expressions changing continuously as if they could sense that terrifying magic power, with a hint of fear and unwillingness in their eyes.

“This Earl Buztout, coming out to scare people every now and then, what is he planning?”

Ancil had also arrived, standing on a rooftop, a worried look on his face.

Aldia stood beside Ancil, his expression as impassive as ever, his gaze fixed on Shien, never relaxing.

Naturally, Lia and Charl had also come.

“Is there really such terrifying magic power emanating from Shien?”

Lia, seemingly sensing nothing, turned to Charl beside her with a puzzled expression.

“Yes, Princess Lia.” Charl nodded heavily, looking at Shien with unprecedented fear in her eyes, making her tremble. “That magic power is truly terrifying. I’m afraid even Princess Lucy is no match for him.”

Charl’s level wasn’t high, but her talent wasn’t bad either. Therefore, she could barely sense Shien’s increasingly concealed yet terrifying magic power, making her heart pound.

Finally, even Yuler, the Pope, appeared with some of the temple’s experts.

“Could this be his harvest from the inner sanctum?”

A sharp glint appeared in Yuler’s kind eyes, and this usually benevolent, grandfatherly figure now emanated an aura comparable to Aldia, Rockto, and Jacinta.

Clearly, this Pope of the temple was also a terrifying expert, at least at the legendary level above ninety.

Many experts of the capital had arrived like this, but none chose to reveal themselves.

Even though many of them were filled with fighting spirit, before understanding Shien’s intentions, they suppressed their impulses.

    “Roar!”

Yulin appeared in mid-air, circling and roaring continuously, as if complaining about something.

“You still want to fight me?” Shien looked up at Yulin in the sky and said with an amused yet exasperated tone, “Give it up, you violent dragon. I’m afraid you’ll burn down the entire capital.”

After all, this dragon clearly wouldn’t hold back.

    “Roar!”

Yulin continued to roar, seemingly unwilling and refusing to accept defeat.

    “Behave yourself, girl.”

Shien had no choice but to beckon Yulin down, placing a hand on her head and channeling his magic power into her.

    “Roar!”

Yulin let out a sound of excitement and pleasure.

The magic power flowing into her body was not only far more potent and dense than before, but it was also transformed by Shien into a form more suitable for Yulin to absorb, increasing her absorption efficiency by many times.

Shien was also satisfied with this.

His original [Taming] skill had been fused into [Inner Perception of Heaven’s Decree], along with skills like [Magic Manipulation], forming one of its effects—”Greatly increases magic control.”

This so-called magic control not only allowed him to perfectly manipulate magic power, but also freely change its nature, achieving the same effect as the [Taming] skill.

The [Taming] skill allowed Shien to use magic power in a specific way to tame monsters. The higher the level, the higher the level of monsters he could tame, and the rarer and more powerful the monsters he could tame.

It could automatically adjust his magic power based on the type of monster, making it easier for them to absorb.

After fusing [Taming] into [Inner Perception of Heaven’s Decree], Shien could now do this himself, using his astonishing magic control to change the nature of his magic power, not only adjusting it based on the type of monster, but also based on the individual differences of each monster.

If the previous [Taming] was a racial magic power modification, then the current [Inner Perception of Heaven’s Decree] was an individual magic power modification.

The former didn’t consider individual differences, only race, while the latter was more targeted, like the difference between mass-produced and customized products, undoubtedly more powerful.

Shien had been pondering this ability for the past half month, finally finding the most suitable type for Yulin to absorb, making it easier for her to absorb his magic power.

    This gave Shien a feeling.

That was, if this continued, it wouldn’t be long before Yulin could take the final step, breaking through from level ninety-nine to level one hundred, reaching the true level cap and becoming a truly invincible King of Monsters.

At that time, if Yulin transformed into a human, from a monster to a demon, she would probably become the strongest being below the level of the Three Goddesses and the Six Demon Lords, right?

    “You’re amazing, my dragon.”

Shien couldn’t help but praise her.

    “Roar!”

Yulin roared enthusiastically, her aura rising, showing signs of a breakthrough.

    “This is…!?”

Seeing this, Jacinta’s eyes lit up with excitement, his gaze towards Yulin burning with passion.

“Is this ill-tempered girl about to break through to the level cap?”

Even Airi, who was watching from the window of her room in the Buztout mansion, was slightly surprised and happy.

Yulin ignored them, lowering her head and looking at Shien, who was smiling at her, her eyes filled with excitement and gratitude.

She knew that she could reach this point, have what she had today, all because of Shien.

This master she had unexpectedly acknowledged possessed the ability to completely subdue her.

Perhaps he wasn’t as strong as her Dragon King sister, nor as terrifying as her evil god sister.

But in Yulin’s heart, her master was an almost invincible existence.

    “Roar!”

    Yulin roared again.

Within her body, magic power circulated in a peculiar way, causing the monstrous aura around Yulin to gradually fade, replaced by a hint of humanity.

    Shien didn’t notice this.

Because he had already turned his gaze in another direction, a smile appearing on his lips.

“It seems my opponent has appeared.”

  • The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated 473

    Chapter 473: [Heaven’s Decree]

In the blink of an eye, half a month passed.

During this time, the royal capital was once again bustling with activity.

Although the dignitaries from various countries had left, under the summons of Lucy, Airi, and Anima, renowned figures from all over the world came and went, causing a stir in the capital.

Gradually, many people learned that the purpose of these people coming to the capital was to teach Earl Buztout, the man of the hour, the skills they possessed.

However, they came and went in a hurry, puzzling many.

Shien, ignoring the outside commotion, stayed home, receiving instruction from various experts and learning all sorts of skills at a speed that continued to shock everyone.

Of course, Shien wasn’t indiscriminately accepting everything.

There were some skills he didn’t need and naturally wouldn’t learn.

For example, magic skills. Even if he learned them, without the spells, Shien couldn’t use magic, and he didn’t want to bury himself in books again, so he rejected all magic skills.

There were also some skills whose effects overlapped, or those with higher-level counterparts. Shien wouldn’t learn them either, as it would just be a waste of skill points.

Therefore, every time Shien learned a skill, he would carefully select and only learn those that were useful to him.

Unfortunately, there were also some skills whose learning conditions Shien couldn’t meet, even if he liked the skill.

For example, the [Heroic Spirit Guardian] skill could only be learned by descendants of families with loyal retainers who sacrificed themselves for their family. Shien couldn’t learn this skill no matter what.

Even with [Divine Grace] lowering the difficulty of learning, difficulty was one thing, conditions were another. If he couldn’t even meet the learning conditions, then there was no point in talking about how easy or difficult it was to learn.

Shien could only regretfully give up on learning such skills.

However, even so, the number of skills Shien learned every day was still considerable, his skill list growing at an astonishing rate.

These skills were eventually fused by Shien.

Although Shien’s [Fate and Logic] could also modify skill effects, he discovered that fusing some skills together could achieve the same result as modification, and only required a small number of skill points.

Taking [Instant Movement] as an example, modifying it to be activated anytime, anywhere, required one hundred skill points, but when Shien fused [Instant Movement] and [Evasion], the resulting effect was exactly the same as the former.

And the skill points required for fusion were only ten, and the fused skill would retain the original strengths of both skills, while its level would be reset to one. After Shien raised the newly created skill back to level ten, its effect would undoubtedly become even stronger.

Therefore, Shien naturally preferred using [Fate and Logic] to fuse different skills, making them stronger and giving them greater potential.

This could also save skill points, so why not?

Moreover, the effects of combining different skills were unknown, and Shien gradually found some enjoyment in the continuous experimentation.

Whenever a powerful skill was created, he would celebrate.

Whenever a skill fusion failed, or the effect of the fused skill was weakened due to poor compatibility, he would feel frustrated.

Fortunately, using [Fate and Logic] to modify skills not only allowed him to alter their effects and fuse different skills, but also to separate fused skills and retrieve the consumed skill points. Otherwise, some failed attempts would cause Shien heavy losses.

On the other hand, after modifying a skill’s effect, it couldn’t be undone, and the consumed skill points couldn’t be retrieved.

Therefore, compared to modifying skills, Shien preferred fusing them. This was only natural.

During this half month, Shien spent his time learning and fusing skills, sometimes even forgetting some learned skills to gain skill points and constantly adjusting his skill list.

And now, half a month later, finally, no one came to the Buztout mansion to teach Shien skills anymore.

    This only meant one thing.

That was, Shien had learned all the skills he could and should learn.

    “Is it finally over?”

In the palace, after seeing off the last master who left in a daze after being shocked, Lucy breathed a sigh of relief and murmured.

    “It’s finally over.”

Airi also sent away a crying demon, rubbing her temples, looking exhausted.

“How is that Hero doing now?”

Anima, watching a group of amazed goddesses return to the Divine Realm, muttered to herself.

    “…”

Lildas, unusually silent, looked in the direction of the Buztout mansion, as if sensing something.

    “Lady Lilith?”

In a room in the Buztout mansion, Lasha softly called out to Lilith.

    “…”

Lilith, also silent, was lying by the window, looking at the figure outside, her eyes flickering slightly.

Vivian, Melika, and Lumia were doing the same thing as Lilith.

    “Mr. Shien…”

    “He…?”

Melika and Lumia looked at the figure outside from the windows of their rooms, seemingly holding their breath.

    “…He seems different.”

Vivian also looked towards the garden, her expression gradually changing.

    “Roar—!”

Above the Buztout mansion, Yulin roared, as if celebrating or cheering for something.

    “Phew…”

In a place no one could see, Nadue also exhaled slowly, looking at that person from a close distance, and finally murmured,

“Perhaps I’m witnessing the birth of a Hero who surpasses even Mitra…”

    No one heard these words.

Including Shien, who was standing in the garden.

At this moment, Shien had his eyes closed, a faint light gradually dimming around him.

Messages continuously appeared in his mind.

“Prototype Skill No. 1 has successfully fused various weapon skills, combat skills, and some support skills. Please name the new skill.”

“Prototype Skill No. 2 has successfully fused various resistance skills, defense skills, and some support skills. Please name the new skill.”

“Prototype Skill No. 3 has successfully fused various speed, evasion, and some support skills. Please name the new skill.”

“Prototype Skill No. 4 has successfully fused various magic power amplification, magic amplification, and some support skills. Please name the new skill.”

“Prototype Skill No. 5 has successfully fused various perception skills and some support skills. Please name the new skill.”

“Prototype Skill No. 6 has successfully fused various concealment, assassination, and some support skills. Please name the new skill.”

“Prototype Skill No. 7 has successfully fused all strength amplification skills. Please name the new skill.”

Messages like this continuously appeared in Shien’s mind.

Shien, combining the strengths of various skills, after half a month of learning and experimentation, had successfully fused seven new skills.

Shien named these seven skills without hesitation.

“Naming Prototype Skill No. 1—[Outer Manifestation of Heaven’s Decree].”

“Naming Prototype Skill No. 2—[Inner Manifestation of Heaven’s Decree].”

“Naming Prototype Skill No. 3—[Outer Perception of Heaven’s Decree].”

“Naming Prototype Skill No. 4—[Inner Perception of Heaven’s Decree].”

“Naming Prototype Skill No. 5—[Outer Awareness of Heaven’s Decree].”

“Naming Prototype Skill No. 6—[Inner Awareness of Heaven’s Decree].”

    ==========

The effects of the seven skills were clearly displayed in Shien’s mind.

The three active skills were named “Outer” skills.

The three passive skills were named “Inner” skills.

    “Heaven” came from [Divine Grace].

“Decree” came from [Fate and Logic].

The other words were simply used for differentiation.

Plus the special skill, [Samsara of Heaven’s Decree], which was accidentally created by fusing numerous amplification and enhancement skills, with [Limit Evolution] as the core.

These seven Heaven’s Decree skills were the result of Shien’s efforts over the past half month.

Shien had fused all the skills he learned during this period into these seven skills, exhausting all his skill points.

The only skills he hadn’t fused were the two magic skills, [Bestowal Magic] and [Celestial Magic].

In other words, the current Shien, besides the three skills [Divine Grace], [Fate and Logic], and [Supreme God’s Blessing], only possessed the seven Heaven’s Decree skills and the two magic skills.

A total of twelve skills constituted Shien’s current strength.

Shien didn’t know how strong he was now.

He only knew that after half a month of hard work, he could now easily defeat his past self.

    Shien glanced at his level.

    —”Lv.77″.

    Seeing this level, Shien smiled.

Perhaps, in the eyes of those legendary experts above level ninety, his current level was still low.

However, Shien knew very well that in this world, being above level seventy meant being a powerful figure, enough to be a knight captain anywhere.

In other words, Shien’s level had finally reached the point where he could be called an expert.

This was the result of his half-month’s effort.

    Since that was the case…

“I need to find someone to spar with.”

    Shien said.

An astonishing magic power fluctuated around him and then vanished.

Countless people in the capital were startled at this moment.

  • The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated 472

Chapter 472: What in the World Happened?

As the saying goes, using cheats is temporarily satisfying, but continuously using cheats is eternally satisfying.

Although Shien wasn’t entirely happy about his cheat abilities becoming increasingly broken, at this point, he could only say—it’s truly amazing.

If [Fate and Logic] was even more powerful, allowing him to directly create an invincible skill, the kind that could even slaughter the Supreme God like a chicken, then he would definitely do so without hesitation, even while trembling in fear.

Now that [Fate and Logic] had so many limitations, although Shien appeared calm on the surface, he was filled with regret inwardly.

“That being said, this Unique Skill is still quite broken.”

Just being able to change the effect of [Instant Movement] to be activated anytime, anywhere, was worth the price.

A hundred skill points in exchange for a teleportation skill, Shien felt it was a good deal.

But it seemed that [Fate and Logic] could do more than just modify existing skills.

    Shien tried another experiment.

“Using [Fate and Logic] to modify [Instant Movement] and [Close-Range Evasion], purpose: skill fusion, modification content feasible, skill points consumed: 10.”

    Yes.

[Fate and Logic] could not only modify existing skills but also fuse different skills together.

Once skills were fused, the new skill created would combine the effects of the original two skills, either becoming stronger or creating new effects, which was worth looking forward to.

Moreover, fusing existing skills had another great advantage.

That was, the level of the newly created skill would be reset to one.

In other words, as long as skills were fused, the new skill created not only had the potential to retain the strength of the original two skills but could also be further upgraded and become even stronger.

The prerequisite was that the compatibility between the two skills being fused couldn’t be too poor. Otherwise, not only would it not retain the original skills’ strengths, but the effect might even be weakened, or they might not even be able to fuse at all.

Based on the number of skills being fused, their compatibility, and the difficulty of fusion, the required skill points would also change accordingly.

For those with good compatibility, fewer skill points would be required.

For those with poor compatibility, more skill points would be required.

Shien explored the various uses of [Fate and Logic] and understood its limitations, conditions, costs, and so on, finally coming to a conclusion.

“This Unique Skill is extremely useful to me.”

    That was the case.

Firstly, Shien had quite a few skill points. As long as he didn’t do anything reckless, it would be enough to support the consumption of [Fate and Logic].

Secondly, Shien, with his Unique Skill [Divine Grace], could easily learn all sorts of skills. He had already learned many skills, which were quite diverse. If he could use [Fate and Logic] to organize and improve them, the increase in his strength would be terrifying.

As for what to do next, Shien already had a plan.

“Undoubtedly, my two Unique Skills are the core.”

“Use [Divine Grace] to continuously learn new skills, then use [Fate and Logic] to organize, fuse, and modify the acquired skills, making them stronger and more perfect.”

“Since that’s the case, I need to find a way to learn all sorts of skills.”

Shien already knew what to do.

“I need to ask Lucy for help, have her use her connections and network to find a bunch of masters for me.”

This was something Shien had always wanted to do.

Shien always felt that with his ability to quickly learn all sorts of skills with [Divine Grace], if he just waited for opportunities to arise, it would be too time-consuming.

Now, Shien basically had no new skills he could learn because he had already reached the limit of what he could do with his current actions. He didn’t know what to do to learn new skills.

Therefore, Shien wanted to find an opportunity to consult some masters and have them teach him useful skills.

With the guidance of masters, he would know what actions to take to learn skills, instead of passively waiting for opportunities.

Now, with the Unique Skill [Fate and Logic], Shien’s desire was even stronger.

“Learn all the skills I can, then organize and plan them. Wouldn’t I be able to acquire a whole set of divine skills then?”

Thinking of this, Shien couldn’t help but feel excited.

Although he hadn’t expected to awaken a second Unique Skill, and was even caught off guard by it, its arrival was undoubtedly a great thing for Shien.

Although this second Unique Skill was still growth-oriented, not combat-oriented, and couldn’t directly enhance his strength in battle, if used well, it could create a batch of divine skills no less powerful than any Unique Skill.

Shien could imagine how astonishing the increase in his strength would be once his skill set was complete.

“The only thing I need to worry about is whether I have enough skill points.”

With enough skill points, he could create any divine skill.

Without enough skill points, it was just wishful thinking.

“It seems I have to plan this carefully.”

Shien couldn’t sit still any longer.

He jumped up and ran out of his room.

“You want me to find a bunch of masters who can teach you skills?”

Lucy looked at Shien, who had come to her in a hurry, and was stunned by his sudden request.

“That’s right.” Shien nodded repeatedly. “This will help me improve my strength.”

These words made Lucy know that she couldn’t refuse this request.

Even if she didn’t know what was going on, since Shien had said so, she had to do her best for him.

“What kind of skills do you need masters for?”

    Lucy asked Shien.

    Shien answered without hesitation.

“Anything.” Shien said, “As long as they have mastered skills I haven’t learned, anyone is fine.”

Shien decided to learn all the skills he could.

This would be the most beneficial to him.

For this purpose, Shien not only sought out Lucy, but also Airi and Anima.

“You want me to find a group of people who can teach you Demon Race-specific skills?”

Airi frowned when she received Shien’s request.

“You need a group of people who can teach you Divine Race-specific skills?”

Anima was also surprised by this matter.

Neither of them knew why Shien had suddenly come to them with such a request.

    Shien didn’t say much.

“Just help me. I’ll make good use of them.”

Shien just said this to them seriously.

Airi and Anima were puzzled, but because of Shien’s serious expression, they eventually agreed.

Although they didn’t know why Shien, a human, wanted to learn skills exclusive to the Demon Race and the Divine Race, or how he planned to learn them, it seemed Shien had his own ideas.

And this wasn’t a difficult task for them.

As the pinnacles of the Demon Race and the Divine Race, they only needed to say a word, and countless people would respond. This was just a small effort for them.

Coupled with their relationship with Shien, there was no reason for them to refuse.

Therefore, with Airi and Anima’s orders, both the Demon Race and the Divine Race took action.

Because of the husband selection competition, the royal capital was filled with dignitaries.

These dignitaries came from various countries in the human world, the pillars of their respective nations and races.

After Shien and Lucy’s engagement banquet, these dignitaries, having failed in their pursuits, prepared to leave the capital.

Recently, luxurious carriages and knight orders continuously came and went through the city gates in all directions, and the bustling capital gradually returned to its usual peace.

However, beneath this peace, many people sensed new undercurrents.

Because, in the capital, where the dignitaries were leaving, for some reason, groups of new people appeared.

Some were renowned experts and masters within the Kingdom.

Some were elite soldiers of the Demon Race, each brave and skilled in battle.

And some were goddesses rarely seen before, as if the gods had collectively descended, all appearing in the temple and the capital.

Finally, these people all had a common destination.

    That was the Buztout mansion.

The nobles and those with ulterior motives in the capital noticed this phenomenon.

“What is he up to this time?”

“Experts and renowned figures from the Divine Race, the human world, and the Demon Race are gathering at the Buztout mansion?”

“Those who used to look down on us nobles, only interested in social climbing and networking, are they now trying to curry favor with Earl Buztout?”

“I feel like something we don’t know about is happening.”

The nobles and those with ulterior motives were puzzled and uneasy.

Puzzled because they didn’t understand, because they were confused.

Uneasy because they didn’t know what Shien was planning this time.

They didn’t want to become the second Lucica family.

    Therefore…

    “Send someone to gather information.”

“It’s best to bribe the maids and servants of the Buztout family and get information from them.”

“Set up surveillance around the Buztout mansion.”

“Report any information back to the family immediately.”

The nobles of the capital gave such orders.

The Buztout mansion once again became the focus of the capital, attracting much attention and covert actions.

Not only the nobles, but even the royal family was paying attention to this.

“What is Shien planning this time?”

Ancil came to ask Lucy more than once.

“Your fiancé is a bit too restless, isn’t he, Lucy?”

Lia also repeatedly complained to Lucy with exasperation.

Even Vivian, Melika, and Lumia were puzzled by Shien’s actions, exchanging glances more than once.

“What does he want to do?”

    “I don’t know…”

    “I feel a little scared…”

Vivian, Melika, and Lumia were surprised, puzzled, and apprehensive.

As for Lucy, Airi, and Anima, they were even more confused.

They knew what Shien was planning.

    However…

“Learning skills from so many people at once, can he even manage?”

“And skills exclusive to the Demon Race, how is he planning to learn them?”

“This Hero seems to always like doing unexpected things.”

Lucy, Airi, and Anima pondered in their hearts.

“He must be up to something.”

Lildas grumbled, seemingly disliking Shien’s secretive actions.

Only Nadue, who had been following Shien, was utterly shocked.

At first, Nadue didn’t know why Shien was doing this.

But when she witnessed the miracles Shien performed one after another, she was stunned and dumbfounded.

    “This…”

    Nadue murmured in disbelief.

    “Is he even human?”

The goddess known as the most perfect, flawless, and popular was shocked like this.

Soon, this undercurrent was completely ignited.

    The reason was very simple.

These experts from various races had come with pride and honor, ready to carry out the instructions of Lucy, Airi, and Anima.

But not long after, these people rushed out of the Buztout mansion in tears.

“I can’t do it anymore, Princess Lucy!”

    “Your fiancé is too terrifying!”

“I have nothing left to teach him!”

    “Please find someone else!”

A group of experts from all over the Kingdom rushed to the palace, crying and complaining to Lucy.

    “Huh?”

    Lucy was dumbfounded.

It was similar on Airi’s side.

    “What’s wrong with that human…!?”

    “He’s too terrifying!”

    “He’s not human!”

“Those are skills only demons can learn and use, why did he learn them so quickly!?”

“Compared to him, we’re just trash!”

“Waaah, this is too much of a blow. I want to go back to the Demon Realm!”

“The human world is too scary!”

A group of originally arrogant demon experts broke down, kneeling before Airi and begging her to let them go back.

    “Huh?”

    Airi was stunned.

    Then there was Anima.

The scene on her side was completely different from the other two.

Goddesses gathered around Anima, even around Lildas, chattering.

“This is definitely a major discovery!”

“Oh my god! There’s actually such a monstrous genius among humans?”

“Lady Lildas! Please bestow your blessing upon that human quickly!”

“That human is definitely a genius comparable to, even surpassing, Princess Lucy and all past Heroes!”

    “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!”

The goddesses’ incredulous cries echoed throughout the temple, leaving Anima and Lildas dumbfounded.

On this day, many people couldn’t help but cry out to the heavens,

    “What in the world happened!?”

  • The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated 471

T/N: I’ve made some corrections to the character names.

Specifically, I’ve changed ‘Liece’ to ‘Charl’, Charl is the A-rank knight assigned to protect Princess Lia. I was using instead of Charl … Liece

The real character ‘Liece’ appeared around 10 times since I started translating, and I didn’t even notice the discrepancy 🙁

Additionally, I’ve edited the demon king’s name from ‘Cethus’ to ‘Claudis’, as per the previous translation.

Meanwhile, I’ll keep the main protagonist’s name as Shien ‘Buztout’ (布兹图特, Xī ēn · Bù zī tú tè), which differs from the previous translator’s choice of Shien ‘Bayztrot’. Both are valid, sound similar.

Regarding Lucy’s full name, it’s actually Roselucy or Roselucia. However, the author mostly refers to her as simply ‘Lucy’ (around 80% of the time). The previous translator used ‘Lucilosti’ for her full name, which is essentially the same as ‘Losti’ (similar sound like ‘Rose’) followed by ‘Lucy’.

Thanks for pointing out these errors in the comments 🙂 I didn’t even notice them.

Chapter 471: Accidentally Stabbed to Death?

After a brief commotion, Lildas finally managed to break free from Shien’s grasp and hid behind Anima.

“I told you, you’re a bad guy! You bully me all the time! So rude and violent!”

Lildas hid behind Anima, shouting at Shien.

    “You’re still talking?”

Shien cracked his knuckles, making Lildas shrink back in fear, not daring to come out again.

    “Be quiet, Lildas.”

Anima said to Lildas with exasperation.

Lucy also came to Shien’s side, holding his hand and stopping him.

    “So, is it over?”

Lucy tried to change the subject.

Shien could see that she seemed relieved, clearly also annoyed by Lildas, but not daring to say or do anything until now, finally rescued.

Shien really wanted to say, “Who made you have such a patron goddess?”

However, he also knew that as her blessed one, Lucy definitely didn’t want to embarrass Lildas, or be embarrassed herself, so he let it go.

    “It’s over on my side.”

    Shien told Lucy truthfully.

Before Lucy could ask anything, Lildas peeked out from behind Anima.

“Judging from your appearance, you must not have gained much.”

Lildas tried her best to belittle Shien.

But actually, Lildas had a feeling that Shien seemed to have gained some extraordinary enlightenment.

Perhaps others hadn’t noticed, but Lildas discovered that Shien’s aura and temperament were different from before.

That natural demeanor, as if he had merged with the world, or rather, with the [World’s Logic], made Lildas feel like she was looking at her own Mother Goddess.

(I must be crazy. He’s just a human, how could he be like the Mother Goddess?)

Lildas smiled wryly, a hint of loneliness in her heart.

There was another person who felt the same way as Lildas.

That was Nadue, who was merged with nature.

    “This feeling…”

Nadue looked at Shien, surprised and uncertain.

As the Goddess of Nature, Nadue was the most sensitive to Shien’s changes.

The aura emanating from Shien, which made people want to get close to him, was now much stronger than before.

    This surprised Nadue greatly.

    Anima felt the same way.

Although her feeling wasn’t as obvious as Lildas and Nadue’s, she could also sense that Shien’s life aura had changed somewhat.

Recalling the question Shien had just asked her, Anima couldn’t help but have a bold guess.

Therefore, Anima was the one most surprised by Shien’s change.

Shien, on the other hand, completely unaware of the change in himself, hesitated for a moment, then responded ambiguously to Lildas’s taunt.

    “Well, you could say that.”

Shien didn’t intend to refute it, or rather, he didn’t want to discuss this matter further.

    Unfortunately…

    “He’s lying, right?”

    “Is he lying?”

    “He’s lying.”

Lildas, Nadue, and Anima had this thought simultaneously.

Even Lucy couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

Others might not know Shien, but Lucy did.

Although she hadn’t thoroughly understood Shien, Shien had thoroughly understood her!

And since she had been thoroughly understood, Lucy naturally knew Shien’s strengths and weaknesses.

Therefore, Lucy could say with certainty that since he was being so humble, it meant he must have gained something extraordinary.

This made Lucy both curious and happy.

Her fiancé gaining great benefits, how could Lucy not be happy?

However, Lucy also noticed that Shien didn’t seem to want to reveal it.

It seemed that his gains were so great that even he himself was a bit shocked, which was why he didn’t dare to let others know.

Of course, others didn’t know the thoughts of the goddesses and the princess.

    Yuler smiled at Shien.

“I believe Earl Buztout must have gained quite a bit.” Yuler said, bowing slightly. “On behalf of the temple, I congratulate you.”

“Thank you, Your Holiness.” Shien smiled and returned the gesture.

Although the gains from this trip to the inner sanctum were indeed beyond his expectations, the outcome was definitely good.

It was just that his cheat ability was becoming more and more broken, making Shien a little apprehensive, afraid that he might be erased by the world’s will or something.

Fortunately, there was no such thing as world will in Omnipotence. If there was, it would be Omniis, the Supreme God, and she had been slumbering for a thousand years and shouldn’t come out to mess with him.

Thinking of this, Shien recalled seeing Omniis in the inner sanctum.

“All causes and effects, all karmic connections, depend on fate… huh?”

    Shien muttered.

    He still didn’t understand.

    Forget it.

Since he couldn’t understand it, then he wouldn’t bother.

He was just a simple man, not some super-intelligent protagonist. Thinking too much would only hurt his brain cells.

Anyway, continuing to increase his strength was the right thing to do.

Only by becoming stronger could he understand and handle everything.

This was the advantage of being extremely adaptable, right?

After that, Shien and Lucy returned home together, leaving the temple.

Lildas still wanted to do something to break them up, but Anima stopped her.

This goddess was still unwilling to give up, causing Lucy a headache.

“I say, why don’t you just send her away, make her return to the Divine Realm?”

Shien rolled his eyes and said to Lucy.

    Lucy was exasperated.

“That’s my patron goddess, the apex of the Divine Race, the strongest being in the three realms. Do you think I’m like you, able to speak so recklessly?”

In front of Lildas, Lucy was still reserved and cautious.

This wasn’t just because of Lildas’s high status, but also because Lucy respected her.

“Although she might seem unreliable in your eyes, Lady Lildas, with her power, has always been guiding humanity towards the right path, cultivating many talented individuals, heroes, and champions for them.”

As the pinnacle of the Divine Race, the Three Goddesses each had the responsibility of guiding the human race.

Anima, the Goddess of Life, guided the beastmen, their highest deity.

Nadue, the Goddess of Nature, guided the elves and dwarves, their highest deity.

And Lildas, the Goddess of Fate, guided humans.

In other words, for humans, the Goddess of Fate was their highest deity.

“And although she sometimes loses control and acts recklessly, Lady Lildas has the strongest sense of mission and responsibility in the entire Divine Race, having continuously protected humanity for nearly ten thousand years, including the Heroes of all generations.”

The Heroes of all generations were humans from another world.

Since they were humans, Lildas would take on the responsibility of guiding them.

Why did Lucy respect Lildas so much?

“Not only because Lady Lildas is my patron goddess, but also because our ancestor, the strongest Hero who defeated the Demon King, was blessed by Lady Lildas and even became her disciple.”

Lucy revealed this secret to Shien.

In other words, Lildas was a very important figure for humans, the Kingdom, and even the descendants of the Hero in the royal family.

“Therefore, whether it’s me, Sister Lia, or Father, we all feel a bit inferior in front of Goddess Lildas.”

Lucy smiled wryly, making Shien speechless.

That useless goddess, only her background was terrifying.

    The Hero’s mentor?

What did Mitra, the Hero, learn from her?

    Tripping over air?

Could it be that the Demon King was startled because Mitra, the Hero, charged at her fiercely, but tripped and fell, and was accidentally stabbed to death by the Holy Sword that flew out of his hand?

    …He could picture it now.

While complaining inwardly, Shien escorted Lucy back to the palace.

As for himself, he could only ignore Lucy’s displeasure and return home alone.

    It couldn’t be helped.

[Fate and Logic]—this sudden second Unique Skill, Shien had to study it carefully.

Therefore, Shien hurried back to the Buztout mansion, greeted everyone, and went straight to his room.

    [Fate and Logic]

    • Unique Skill

    • When used, can modify currently possessed skills.

    • When used, requires consuming corresponding skill points as a cost.

    • When used, only has a certain effect on regular skills.

    • When used, amplifies or weakens depending on the modification.

    • Permanent effect, cannot be canceled by any means.

    ==========

In his room, Shien sat on his bed and began to study his newly acquired Unique Skill.

Looking at its effects, Shien pondered for a moment, then checked all his skills.

After some exploration, Shien understood somewhat.

“This Unique Skill is clearly meant to be used on other skills.”

    Shien made some discoveries.

Firstly, this Unique Skill, [Fate and Logic], unlike [Divine Grace], was an active skill.

The effects of [Divine Grace] were passive, mainly used for leveling up, learning, and growth. Its effects would only manifest when Shien leveled up or needed to learn or upgrade skills.

[Fate and Logic] was different. It required Shien to activate it consciously.

And when Shien used [Fate and Logic], he discovered that he could actually modify the skills he possessed to a certain extent.

    What kind of modifications?

    All sorts!

For example, Shien could alter the skills he possessed, making them more powerful or adding effects they didn’t originally have.

For example, the [Instant Movement] skill, its original effect was a type of teleportation that could be activated “when attacked.” When Shien used [Fate and Logic] to modify it, he could actually change its effect to “can be activated anytime, anywhere.”

    What did this mean?

It meant that once the modification was successful, Shien would immediately have the ability to teleport at will, possessing mobility comparable to Leisha’s Spatial Transfer.

This made Shien a little excited.

However, there was no such thing as a free lunch.

“Using [Fate and Logic] to modify [Instant Movement], purpose: effect alteration, modification content feasible, skill points consumed: 100.”

The appearance of this message told Shien that using [Fate and Logic] to modify skills wasn’t without a price.

It required consuming corresponding skill points based on the modification content, and the more excessive the modification, the greater the consumption.

Just changing the effect of [Instant Movement] from “can be activated when attacked” to “can be activated anytime, anywhere” required consuming one hundred skill points. If he changed it to “can instantly reach any corner of the world at will,” the skill points consumed would be astronomically high.

Therefore, those without enough skill points couldn’t afford to use such a Unique Skill.

    “I can’t afford it either.”

    Shien was speechless.

    What were skill points?

They were something obtained only when leveling up, and the amount obtained was completely random, the minimum being one, and the maximum being one hundred.

Others wouldn’t even have enough skill points to upgrade their own skills, let alone waste them on this, how could they afford it?

If it were someone else, even if they obtained this Unique Skill, they wouldn’t be able to unleash its true potential, right?

Shien was considered lucky. Thanks to his Unique Skill [Divine Grace], every time he leveled up, he could obtain the maximum of one hundred skill points. When upgrading skills, regardless of the skill, upgrading it by one level only required one skill point. He had already maxed out dozens of skills, but only consumed a few hundred skill points. He currently had thousands of skill points, an astonishing amount, so he could still play around with this [Fate and Logic] Unique Skill.

However, besides the consumption of skill points, there were other limitations to using [Fate and Logic].

For example, it could only be used on regular skills and couldn’t modify Unique Skills or Special Skills.

For example, it could only be used on skills Shien possessed and couldn’t create skills out of thin air.

And for example, there were also limits to how much a skill could be modified. If it was changed too drastically, it would become invalid.

Besides that, it would also amplify or weaken the modified skill’s effects depending on the content. If a skill’s effect was modified too drastically, for example, increasing the damage reduction of a resistance skill to 100%, achieving complete resistance, it wouldn’t work. It would only increase the damage reduction to the theoretical limit based on the skill’s potential, perhaps 80% or 90%, but never 100%.

“It seems this Unique Skill is quite difficult to use.”

    Shien felt a bit regretful.

  • The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated 470

    Chapter 470: [Fate and Logic]

    “Rumble…”

The large gate, carved with the character “Logic,” slowly closed with a heavy rumbling sound.

The ancient, mysterious aura also disappeared, and the vast plaza returned to silence.

Shien finally came back to his senses, shaking his head to clear the slight dizziness.

    “Are you alright?”

Anima came to Shien’s side, placing a hand on his shoulder, her eyes still closed, but her concern was evident.

“I’m fine.” Shien seemed to feel better, exhaling. He murmured, “What did those words mean?”

Anima, who was observing Shien, asked,

    “What words?”

    Anima looked concerned.

Shien subconsciously wanted to explain to Anima, but stopped himself, not revealing the words Omniis, the Supreme God, had said to him.

His intuition told him that it was best not to tell anyone about this.

Shien felt that the words spoken by Omniis weren’t meant for everyone to hear.

Therefore, after some thought, Shien asked Anima, “How long was I inside?”

Inside the inner sanctum, Shien felt like he had been there for a long time.

    But Anima said,

“One minute.” Anima said softly. “The flow of time inside the inner sanctum is different from the outside world. No matter how long the recipient of enlightenment stays inside, only one minute passes in the outside world.”

“Really?” Shien chuckled. “That’s quite a mental time chamber.”

“Mental time chamber?” Anima asked in confusion. “What’s that?”

“Nothing.” Shien brushed it off and changed the subject. “I think I’ve finished my enlightenment.”

    This successfully diverted Anima’s attention.

    “How was your harvest?”

    Anima asked quickly.

She was curious about how much enlightenment and what gains Shien had obtained in the inner sanctum, given his condition.

If she wasn’t mistaken, his gains should be astonishing.

But it didn’t seem to be an increase in level.

Anima could see with her power that Shien’s level was still fifty-nine, not having increased after entering the inner sanctum.

This meant that Shien’s gains must be in other areas.

Did he learn some new skill?

Or did he gain some unprecedented enlightenment?

Anima was filled with anticipation and curiosity.

However, Shien’s expression was somewhat strange.

    Were his gains significant?

They should be considered significant, right?

    However…

“Let me ask you first, Anima,” Shien said hesitantly, “it’s possible to awaken a Unique Skill in the inner sanctum, right?”

    Shien asked this question.

“Yes.” Anima nodded. “In the past, many outstanding humans gained enlightenment regarding Unique Skills in the inner sanctum and awakened their own. This isn’t a secret.”

    Indeed.

Lucy had also mentioned this, and Shien hadn’t forgotten.

But after confirming this, Shien asked a question that surprised Anima.

“Then, what if… I’m just saying, what if…?” Shien’s expression was still strange as he asked, “If someone has already awakened a Unique Skill, is it possible for them to awaken another one after entering the inner sanctum?”

    Anima was stunned.

    Awaken another Unique Skill?

    Could it be…

    “Shien, you…”

    Anima’s expression seemed to change.

Shien pursed his lips and asked helplessly, “Is it possible?”

    Anima was silent.

After a while, Anima spoke softly.

“Theoretically, that’s impossible.” Anima said, “Whether it’s the Divine Race, the human race, or the Demon Race, they can only awaken one Unique Skill in their lifetime. It’s impossible to have a second one.”

“…Is that also true for the Divine Race?” Shien pondered for a moment, then said, “I remember that the Divine Race’s powers are equivalent to the Unique Skills of humans and demons. And among the Divine Race, many goddesses have multiple domains. Doesn’t that mean they have multiple powers, multiple Unique Skills?”

If a goddess governed both water and fire, wouldn’t that mean she had the power to manipulate both, possessing two Unique Skills?

    That’s what Shien meant.

    But Anima shook her head.

“Indeed, many goddesses of the Divine Race have multiple domains, but the power that allows them to fulfill their duties is still just one.” Anima explained, “For example, Goddess Lilith. She governs both evil and chaos, and her power is the ability to drive people mad and corrupt them into evil beings. She doesn’t have a second power.”

The implication was that even with different effects, there was still only one Unique Skill.

Take Shien for example. His Unique Skill, [Divine Grace], had multiple effects.

Upon leveling up, all stats increased to their maximum value.

Upon leveling up, the number of skill points gained was maximized.

All skill acquisition conditions were reduced to their minimum.

All skill upgrade conditions were reduced to their minimum.

[Divine Grace] had these four effects, proving that the effects of a Unique Skill weren’t limited to just one.

The Divine Race’s powers were like this. Each goddess only had one. If they had multiple domains, it meant that their power also had multiple effects, allowing them to fulfill the duties of two domains simultaneously.

    Therefore…

“All life in this world has the potential to awaken a Unique Skill, but they can only have one.”

Anima looked at Shien and said each word clearly.

“According to this theory, to answer your question, I can only tell you that if someone has already awakened a Unique Skill, then after entering the inner sanctum, it’s impossible for them to awaken another one.”

“At least, in the countless years of Omnipotence, no one has ever awakened two Unique Skills.”

“Including the Three Goddesses, the Six Demon Lords, and the Heroes of all generations.”

    These words made Shien speechless.

Shien really wanted to ask, what about the Demon King and the Supreme God?

But thinking about it carefully, those two were exceptional existences, probably beyond the concept of Unique Skills.

The Three Goddesses and the Six Demon Lords had surpassed the limits of life, exceeding the level cap of one hundred, and no longer had the concept of levels or skills.

But even beings like the Three Goddesses and the Six Demon Lords still had the concept of Unique Skills, using their power to fight.

Then, for those exceptional existences above the Three Goddesses and the Six Demon Lords, the Demon King and the Supreme God, they might not have the concept of Unique Skills, or perhaps they transcended this concept.

For them, one was the ultimate in power, the other the embodiment of omnipotence. They didn’t “possess” Unique Skills.

Shien felt that this was the case.

Therefore, he didn’t ask this question.

That realm was too far away from him, even from someone like Anima. Perhaps she herself didn’t know how to answer.

Under such circumstances, Shien gave up on asking.

“Let’s go.” Shien said to Anima. “The purpose of this trip has been achieved. I should go back to Lucy.”

Anima stared intently at Shien, as if trying to see through him.

Shien didn’t say anything more, seemingly lost in thought.

Anima looked at Shien like this for a long time, then nodded.

    “Then let’s go out.”

A gentle smile reappeared on Anima’s face.

    “Yes.”

Shien smiled back, calm and composed.

The two then left the plaza together.

Following behind Anima, Shien took one last look at the gate standing in the center of the plaza, then looked into his own mind.

    There, a message appeared.

    ==========

    ==========

Looking at this message, Shien was speechless.

There was only one thing in his mind.

“My cheat ability seems to be getting more and more broken.”

    Temple, waiting room.

In this hall specifically for waiting, there were no other idle people, only the Holy Sword Knights who came with Lucy and the priests led by Yuler.

They waited respectfully at the side, listening to the conversation between Lucy and Lildas, seemingly embarrassed.

Shien returned with Anima and immediately heard this conversation.

“Little Lucy, please don’t marry that bad guy, okay?”

    “Goddess Lildas…”

“Promise me, he’s really a bad, bad guy.”

“That’s not true, Shien is just…”

“You don’t have to speak up for him. He’s not worth it.”

    “But…”

“Just promise me. I’m your patron goddess, and the Goddess of Fate. Listening to me is definitely right.”

    “Sigh…”

Lildas tried to persuade Lucy, making her look troubled and helpless, not knowing what to do.

Shien raised an eyebrow, looking at Lildas, who was badmouthing him and trying to persuade Lucy to “divorce” him, the contemplative look in his eyes disappearing, replaced by amusement.

Shien rushed over and used his iron claw technique, hitting Lildas on the head.

“I was only gone for a while, and you dare to try and steal my wife behind my back?”

Shien began to exert his iron claw technique with all his might.

“Ouch, ouch, ouch…! Let go of me! You insolent fool!”

    Lildas cried out.

    “Lady Lildas!”

    “Goddess Lildas!”

    The surrounding people exclaimed.

The waiting room instantly became lively.

    “Really…”

Seeing this, Anima smiled wryly for the umpteenth time.

  • The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated 469

    Chapter 469: [Logic]

As soon as Anima finished speaking, Shien walked towards the gate.

    This was an unconscious action.

At first, Shien felt that the gate standing alone in the center of the vast plaza was strange.

However, for some reason, the more he looked at the gate, the more he felt a sense of familiarity.

It was as if the gate was calling out to him, making him want to approach it.

Therefore, almost as soon as Anima finished speaking, Shien subconsciously walked towards the gate.

Seeing this, Anima couldn’t help but be stunned.

But then, Anima seemed to recall something, and her gaze towards Shien deepened.

Anima remembered the shocking thing Nadue had mentioned to her last night while they were coaxing Lildas.

“That Hero named Shien might possess the Mother Goddess’s blessing.”

This was what Nadue told Anima.

Shien possessed the Supreme God’s blessing.

This news, if it were to spread within the Divine Race, or even among the human race and the Demon Race, would cause a huge commotion.

Regardless of the symbolic meaning behind it, just possessing this blessing alone would make Shien’s status in the three races extraordinary.

And it would be far more extraordinary than his current status.

Especially within the Divine Race, if this news spread, Shien would definitely be worshipped by the entire race.

This wasn’t a joke, but a real possibility.

The Divine Race was a race that valued hierarchy very much, from the Three Goddesses to the Superior Gods, and then from the Superior Gods to the Inferior Gods, their statuses and ranks clearly defined and inviolable.

Even a lower-ranking god who governed a powerful domain and possessed great strength had to respectfully bow and obey the command of a higher-ranking god with no combat ability.

And this hierarchical obedience would be even more pronounced before the Supreme God.

After all, the entire Divine Race originated from Omniis, the Supreme God. Omniis was the creator of the Divine Race, the Mother of Gods, the King of Gods. It was impossible for her not to be worshipped by the Divine Race.

Under such circumstances, it was easy to imagine how the Divine Race would react if they knew that Shien possessed the Supreme God’s blessing.

Blessed ones were often referred to as the “other half of a goddess,” and this saying became even more significant the higher the god’s rank.

Therefore, if the goddesses of the Divine Race learned that Shien possessed the Supreme God’s blessing, they would definitely regard Shien as the source of their faith in their excitement and fanaticism, submitting to him.

Because this represented that the Supreme God hadn’t abandoned the Divine Race. Although the Supreme God had fallen into slumber, her blessed one had appeared, and the Divine Race would definitely try their best to win him over.

Therefore, when she first heard this news, Anima was inevitably shocked. Coupled with the symbolic meaning behind this, Anima realized that there must be a big secret behind this Hero’s appearance.

Now, this Hero was here, about to interact with the treasure personally created and left to the human race by the Supreme God. It was impossible for there not to be some wondrous reaction.

“The world was created by the Supreme God, and the [Logic] of this world is also the law established by the Supreme God.”

“The one who possesses the Supreme God’s blessing is definitely equivalent to having the world’s protection.”

“In that case, after this Hero comes into contact with the [Logic], he might gain far more than others.”

    Anima thought of this.

“This is a human who has the favor and preference of the world.”

Anima looked at Shien’s back, a realization dawning on her.

“Perhaps he will be the one who gains the most from the inner sanctum’s enlightenment in history.”

Anima couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation.

Unfortunately, Shien didn’t know about any of this.

He simply followed the mysterious feeling and guidance in his heart, arriving at the gate.

Then, as if in a trance, Shien reached out and touched the character “Logic” on the gate.

    The next moment…

    “Rumble…”

As if an ancient ruin sealed for thousands, even tens of thousands of years, was being opened, the stone gate trembled and slowly opened with a heavy rumbling sound.

What appeared behind the gate wasn’t the scenery on the other side, but a vortex emanating an ancient, mysterious aura.

Looking at the vortex, Shien could feel the throbbing in his heart intensify.

Shien stepped into the gate without hesitation.

    This was a silent world.

    This was a dark world.

When he came to his senses, Shien found himself in this strange world, floating gently as if submerged in water, feeling no gravity, not even the weight of his own body.

This feeling was very similar to when Shien was first summoned by Nien, before he was awakened, reincarnated, and resurrected as the Hero, that feeling of only having his soul and consciousness.

However, strangely, Shien didn’t feel any unease or anxiety, but rather a sense of security, like returning to the womb.

    “—”

    Suddenly, a strange fluctuation came.

    It seemed like a sound.

It also seemed like magic power.

As if enlightened, Shien raised his head and looked at the dark sky above, his movements natural, as if guided.

At this moment, the world changed drastically.

    “Clang!”

    First, light appeared.

It was the light emanating from a figure.

The figure appeared as if out of nowhere, yet also as if she had always been there, entering Shien’s sight.

    Shien’s eyes widened.

    “The Supreme God, Omniis…”

    Indeed.

That figure was Omniis, the Supreme God whom Shien had seen in the sanctuary.

Unlike her slumbering form back then, Omniis was now fully awake.

She radiated light, looking incredibly divine.

Her figure was majestic and beautiful, captivating.

Yet, she seemed like a high and mighty god, looking down condescendingly, her eyes emotionless.

That was the gaze of a true “god.”

Suddenly, the goddess raised her hand.

With this gesture, the entire dark world seemed to be illuminated, beginning to glow.

    The sky appeared.

    The earth appeared.

    The oceans appeared.

    The sun also appeared.

The dark world instantly transformed into a vibrant world.

    Shien immediately understood.

“What I’m seeing is the scene of Omniis, the Supreme God, creating the world.”

This was the beginning of everything, the origin of the world.

The omnipotent goddess began to create the heavens and the earth from this moment on, creating the world, bringing forth this world called Omnipotence.

Shien witnessed the goddess create the sun with a wave of her hand.

He also witnessed the goddess create the moon with a flick of her finger.

    The stars.

    The forests.

    The mountains.

    The rivers.

Everything appeared one after another under the creation of this omnipotent goddess.

    Shien was completely captivated.

During this process, the goddess wasn’t just creating things, but also establishing various laws.

A ripe apple would inevitably fall to the ground due to gravity.

Fire would burn, but would be extinguished by water.

    Trees needed sunlight and soil.

Life needed to breathe and eat.

Then there were the rules of life, aging, illness, death, and so on, all established and perfected by this goddess with unrivaled power.

That was the law of this world, the rules of this world, the so-called [Logic].

The goddess was weaving the laws of [Logic], even incorporating various concepts into it.

    For example, levels.

    For example, skills.

These were all part of the [Logic].

Shien, witnessing this scene firsthand, as if he had become the Supreme God herself, although he wasn’t consciously weaving the laws of [Logic] and didn’t understand the principles behind it, he felt as if he had merged into it, gaining various insights.

“So, it can be like this?”

    “This is what levels are?”

    “This is what skills are?”

“So, this is how it works?”

    “Wonderful!”

Shien seemed to have completely immersed himself in this process, sometimes suddenly realizing something, sometimes confused, sometimes excited, sometimes frowning, his emotions on full display.

When Shien finally came back to his senses, he was almost scared.

At some point, the world had been completely formed.

And Omniis, the Supreme God, was floating before Shien, as if she had come to life, staring intently at him.

    “Gulp…”

    Shien couldn’t help but swallow.

The goddess, however, seemed indifferent, her gaze mysterious and profound.

That gaze wasn’t looking at Shien before her, but at the distant future.

    Then…

“All causes and effects, all karmic connections, depend on fate.”

Leaving behind these ethereal words, Omniis, the Supreme God, vanished.

    “Wait…!”

Shien subconsciously called out, wanting to stop her, but suddenly felt the world spinning.

    The world was collapsing.

The heavens and earth were disintegrating.

    The laws were dissipating.

The sun and moon lost their brilliance.

Shien’s vision darkened, and he felt like he was being thrown out of this world.

Finally, along with everything around him, he vanished without a trace.

    “Hum!”

In the plaza, within the vortex of the gate, a tremor suddenly appeared, and a brilliant light shone.

    “He’s back?”

Anima, seeing this scene, her expression shifted.

The vortex within the gate began to spin, and after a while, it spat out a figure.

    “Swish!”

Shien emerged from the vortex, landing on the ground and staggering back a few steps before steadying himself.

  • The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated 468

    Chapter 468: “I’ll Fight You!”

The inner sanctum, a treasure left to humanity by the Supreme God, was intended for cultivating outstanding talents.

Since that was the case, how could a Hero from another world not have used it?

Shien coming to the inner sanctum wasn’t unexpected for Anima.

But as Anima said, she didn’t expect him to come so soon.

“Past Heroes usually only thought about entering the inner sanctum after reaching the legendary level, level ninety and above, feeling that their strength was improving too slowly, hoping to use the inner sanctum’s enlightenment to improve their strength.”

    Anima looked at Shien meaningfully.

“Especially Mitra, known as the strongest Hero of all time, he only entered the inner sanctum after reaching the level cap of one hundred, using the enlightenment gained within to break through his limits and transcend.”

Therefore, Anima naturally thought that Shien would only enter the inner sanctum when his level was higher.

Not necessarily reaching the level cap of one hundred like Mitra, but at least after reaching the legendary level of ninety. This was Anima’s previous thought.

Who would have thought that Shien would come so soon?

“You are very strong, but your level isn’t high. You haven’t even reached level sixty yet, right?”

Anima easily saw through Shien’s level.

This was part of Anima’s power.

As the Goddess of Life, she could see through the state and level of all beings with her never-opened eyes.

This was a direct observation of life itself, impossible to conceal or disguise.

Therefore, Anima had known Shien’s true level since their first meeting.

    Shien nodded.

“Compared to those truly powerful figures, my level is indeed not high.” Shien shrugged. “But I don’t think I need to wait until I reach the legendary level or the level cap to enter the inner sanctum. That would be too late.”

Of course, this was for Shien.

For others, Shien’s choice might not be wise.

“Why are you in such a hurry?” Lildas, being supported by Lucy, rubbed her face, tears still streaming down her cheeks, and glared at Shien. “Being impatient isn’t a good thing. Your strength is already considerable. I advise you to wait, work hard while you can still grow on your own, and don’t waste this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

“Oh?” Shien raised an eyebrow and smiled. “Is the Goddess concerned about me?”

“Of course not!” Lildas bristled and shouted, “I’m thinking about Lucy! What if you regret it later and walk around with a miserable expression, affecting my Lucy’s mood? What then?”

“You don’t have to worry about that, Goddess. I have my own plan.” Shien wasn’t provoked. Instead, he said calmly, “Although I don’t know if I’ll be walking around with a miserable expression in the future, you look quite miserable now. Please restrain yourself and don’t affect my Lucy’s mood.”

“You…!” Lildas was furious, pointing at Shien and shouting, “I’m not miserable! And Lucy is mine!”

“You’re quite self-confident. I wonder what makes you so sure that you’re not miserable right now?” Shien said with a smirk. “And Lucy should be mine.”

“Y-you, you, you…!” Lildas was enraged and shouted, “She’s mine!”

“Whatever you say.” Shien narrowed his eyes and said calmly, “What’s mine is mine. You can’t take her away.”

    Lildas naturally wouldn’t agree.

    “Mine!”

    “Mine.”

    “Mine!”

    “Mine.”

    “No, she’s mine, not yours!”

    “Alright, she’s yours.”

    “No! She’s yours!”

    “Okay, you said it yourself.”

    “…Huh?”

After a heated (and childish) argument, Lildas fell for Shien’s clever (and even more childish) trap, completely dumbfounded.

Shien reached out and patted Lildas’s head, sighing dramatically.

“Silly child, clearly the oldest woman in the world, but still so foolish and naive.”

This direct provocation made Lildas explode.

    “I’ll fight you!”

Lildas, like an enraged kitten, pounced on Shien, claws bared.

Shien remained unmoved, casually cleaning his fingernails with one hand, the other reaching out at some point and stopping Lildas by pressing against her forehead.

Lildas kept charging forward, her hands flailing wildly, but because Shien was holding her head, she couldn’t get close at all, her hands only hitting the air in front of Shien.

The two started playing around like this, making everyone around them dumbfounded.

Yuler and the others exchanged glances, at a loss as to what to do.

Lucy had a headache, looking at the two of them like they were children, sighing.

Anima was also stunned, then she and Nadue, who had been hiding in the shadows, smiled wryly at the same time, their hearts filled with disbelief.

This was the first time they had seen a human dare to argue with Lildas like this, and the two of them even started a childish fight, making it hard to believe that this was actually happening.

If this scene were seen by outsiders, they would probably be shocked, right?

But no matter what, Shien truly showed no fear towards Lildas, the strongest goddess, and Lildas was throwing a tantrum like a child. This was reality.

As a result, everyone was surprised to find that the atmosphere between them was actually quite warm and comfortable.

It was like two close friends playing around, or a family having fun, like watching siblings bicker.

Soon, Lildas, unable to defeat Shien, started crying again.

“Lucy, look, he’s bullying me, he’s a bad guy!”

Lildas gave up on Shien and threw herself into Lucy’s arms, complaining with a wronged expression.

“It’s… it’s okay, Lady Lildas, Shien is just joking with you.”

Lucy could only hug Lildas and pat her back, comforting her.

    Shien couldn’t help but retort,

“And you call her your daughter? Who’s the daughter here?”

    Their roles were completely reversed.

    “Waaah!”

    Lildas cried even harder.

    She was crying from anger.

Although it might be true, he shouldn’t say it out loud!

Didn’t he know it was hurtful?

    “Alright, you should stop talking.”

Lucy really wanted to hit Shien.

She also knew that it was impossible for this unreliable guy to show respect to a goddess.

Thinking back to when they first met, after learning her true nature, hadn’t this guy also ridiculed her mercilessly?

This lawless Hero was truly something else.

“It seems it’s better to let Lildas stay here and accompany Lucy.” Anima still smiled wryly, then looked at Yuler. “I’ll take Earl Buztout to the inner sanctum. You stay here and take care of the Goddess of Fate and Princess Lucy.”

“Yes.” Yuler seemed surprised that Anima was planning to personally guide Shien, but he didn’t say anything and agreed obediently.

“I have no objections.” Shien seemed indifferent and looked at Lucy. “Then I’ll go by myself.”

“Yes.” Lucy nodded. “I’ll wait for you outside.”

“Let’s go then.” Anima stepped aside, gesturing for Shien to proceed, and said with a smile, her eyes still closed, “Before we reach the inner sanctum, I’ll give you a proper introduction to this treasure left to the human race by the Mother Goddess.”

“Thank you for your trouble.” Shien bowed to Anima.

    Thus, the group parted ways.

Lucy, with the crying Lildas, went to the waiting room under Yuler’s guidance.

Shien, led by Anima, headed towards the inner sanctum.

    Nadue glanced at both sides.

    “Then I’ll stay as well.”

With Anima there, Shien should be fine.

She could take this opportunity to observe the situation in other directions.

    For example, the Raifurut family.

    “We’re here.”

When Anima said these words, Shien stopped.

Shien and Anima had arrived at the deepest part of the temple.

There were no buildings here. It was like an open-air plaza, very spacious.

    “This is the inner sanctum?”

    Shien was a bit surprised.

Looking around, there was nothing in this spacious plaza, only a gate standing in the center.

    Yes.

    A gate.

A gate stood alone in the middle of the plaza, looking very strange.

The gate looked simple and unadorned, like an old stone gate covered in dust, without any decorations, only a single character carved on it—”Logic.”

“This is the gate that directly connects to the [World’s Logic].”

Anima said with a serious expression.

“Those who pass through this gate will enter another space.”

“That is the inner sanctum, the closest place to the [World’s Logic].”

“From there, you can directly observe the workings of the [Logic], see how the world operates in the most direct way, immerse yourself in it, and gain enlightenment.”

“Based on this enlightenment, you will gain unimaginable benefits.”

It could be a sudden increase in level, the sudden acquisition of a skill, or even the awakening of a Unique Skill. Anything was possible.

“This treasure has cultivated countless strong individuals for the human race. Some were completely unknown before entering the inner sanctum, their strength and potential ordinary, but they gained extraordinary insights, and after coming out, their progress skyrocketed, becoming great figures recorded in history.”

    Anima turned to Shien.

“If you’ve truly made up your mind, then go ahead.”

“Go and push open that gate.”

  • The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated 467

Chapter 467: “How Did You Answer?”

Shien didn’t know much about Lucy’s mother.

He even initially thought that Lucy’s mother had already passed away, otherwise he wouldn’t have never seen her.

Whether it was during his private interactions with Lucy, or in formal settings with the royal family, or even at their engagement banquet, the Queen had never appeared. This naturally made Shien wonder.

Only later did Shien learn that the Queen was ill and had been recuperating and receiving treatment in the temple year-round, practically living a semi-monastic life.

That’s why he had never seen her.

Now, through Lucy’s description, Shien realized that the Queen’s health seemed to be worse than he had imagined. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have even missed her own daughter’s engagement banquet.

Should he go and see her with Lucy?

    Shien hesitated.

Lucy seemed to notice his hesitation.

“Are you afraid of meeting my mother?”

Lucy blinked, a playful smile appearing on her face.

“Ahem…” Shien coughed awkwardly, not admitting it at all. “What would I be afraid of?”

Would he be afraid of meeting his mother-in-law?

    That was a joke.

With his current status, he had even impressed Ancil, the King. Could he not handle a Queen?

    Impossible.

Just as Shien was thinking this, Lucy’s voice came,

“Then how about we go and see Mother now?”

Lucy’s words made Shien’s expression change from awkward to unnatural.

    “I knew it…”

Lucy narrowed her eyes, a look of disdain in them, making Shien unable to meet her gaze.

Shien truly was a bit apprehensive about meeting the Queen.

    The reason was simple.

“Her health is so weak. If I accidentally say something wrong and upset her, wouldn’t that be a sin?”

    Shien muttered.

    This was his concern.

Unlike Ancil, a king with a clear stance, the Queen was now practically a semi-nun, completely uninvolved in the Kingdom’s political affairs, very detached.

In other words, to Shien, she was just Lucy’s mother, his mother-in-law, someone who wouldn’t be impressed by his achievements or the power behind him, just an ordinary mother.

Shien dared to be frivolous with others, to defy everything, and to be so confident in front of Ancil, all because of his various advantages.

But those advantages were useless in front of the Queen. Moreover, she was frail and seemed to have a good relationship with Lucy. Shien could already imagine himself being completely at a loss for words in front of her.

In other words, in Shien’s eyes, she was simply Lucy’s mother, which made him, the future son-in-law, feel belated nervousness.

After all, this was his first time getting married!

    …Probably?

At least, Shien didn’t think he had been married in his past life.

“You…” Lucy said with exasperation, “Consider yourself lucky. Although Mother cares about who I’m marrying, she doesn’t value family background or abilities as much as others. She only cares if he’s someone I truly love. So, after I answered her, she readily agreed, didn’t object at all, and didn’t even ask to meet you.”

Hearing this, Shien unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, he didn’t have to meet his mother-in-law right now.

Of course, he would have to meet her sooner or later.

After all, he had devoured the little cabbage she had raised for seventeen years. Not greeting her would be unreasonable.

But meeting her now would be too sudden.

He would properly visit his mother-in-law after he was prepared.

Having made up his mind, Shien became curious about Lucy’s words.

“When your mother asked if you truly loved me, how did you answer?”

    Shien asked curiously.

    “Mmm…”

    Lucy’s face immediately flushed red.

Seeing this, Shien wasn’t surprised, but instead said playfully,

“Come on, tell me.” Shien teased. “How did you answer? Tell your husband.”

Lucy hit Shien lightly, embarrassed and annoyed.

Little did they know that their interaction was being watched by everyone present.

Seeing Shien and Lucy playfully bickering like this, Lucy’s face flushed with shyness, everyone was surprised.

“I didn’t expect Princess Lucy to have such a girlish side.”

Yuler was also surprised, but mostly relieved.

Before this, many people thought that the union between Shien and Lucy was too hasty, without any foundation in their relationship.

Even though Shien and Lucy had some private interactions before, they had only known each other for a few months.

In just a few months, was the most beautiful woman in the human race conquered?

    People naturally wouldn’t believe this.

Therefore, many thought that Lucy chose Shien firstly because of his powerful backing and his own abilities, which made him stand out among the many heroes, and secondly because of the revelation about the disaster, forcing her to choose a husband and making her look favorably upon Shien, whom she had a good relationship with.

Under such circumstances, few people believed there were any real feelings between Shien and Lucy.

Even at the engagement banquet, although the loving atmosphere between Shien and Lucy was almost palpable, and Shien even kissed Lucy in front of everyone, declaring his ownership, many still didn’t believe they had a strong relationship, thinking it was just an act.

Yuler also had similar thoughts before.

    It couldn’t be helped.

The more they understood Lucy’s excellence and witnessed her beauty, the more people would think that she was an unattainable flower, impossible to be easily conquered.

Yuler knew Lucy’s status in the Kingdom very well, and also knew how much the Divine Race favored her. Therefore, he naturally subconsciously thought that Lucy didn’t choose Shien out of love.

But seeing the current situation, Yuler knew he was wrong.

These two were truly in love, with a strong foundation in their relationship. That’s why they chose to be together.

Otherwise, even if someone else could become Lucy’s fiancé, they wouldn’t be able to interact with her so naturally and casually, and Lucy wouldn’t show such a girlish side.

“These two are truly in love…”

Yuler sighed with emotion, also happy for Lucy.

He had practically watched Lucy grow up, and Lucy had close ties with the Divine Race, naturally also with the temple, often interacting with Yuler.

Moreover, Yuler had a good relationship with the Queen. Unbeknownst to others, Lucy sometimes even called him “Grandpa Yuler” in private.

Therefore, Yuler also cared about Lucy quite a bit, perhaps not to the point of treating her as his own granddaughter, but definitely as a beloved adopted granddaughter.

Seeing Shien and Lucy in love, it was impossible for Yuler not to feel relieved and happy.

As a result, Yuler’s gaze towards Shien also changed, becoming even kinder and gentler.

And at this moment, Shien, Lucy, and even Yuler forgot.

In the temple, there was not only Lucy’s biological mother, but also someone who treated her like her own daughter, a mother-like figure.

“Don’t bully my Lucy! You bad guy!”

With these words, a figure, as if having been waiting for the right moment, seeing Shien and Lucy constantly bickering, finally couldn’t help but rush out from the temple.

Besides Lildas, who else could it be?

However, when they saw Lildas rushing out, both Shien and Lucy subconsciously shouted,

    “Watch out!”

Just as their voices faded, Lildas, charging forward, tripped over her own feet…

    “Ah!”

    A cry of surprise.

    “Thump!”

    The sound of a fall.

Lildas, having successfully tripped over herself, slammed her face into the ground, then slid across the floor towards Shien and Lucy due to her momentum.

    “Waaah… it hurts…”

The next moment, Lildas’s cries reached everyone’s ears.

    “G-Goddess Lildas…!?”

    Yuler panicked.

Not only Yuler, but all the surrounding priests were also flustered.

    “A-are you alright?”

Lucy hurriedly stepped forward and helped Lildas up.

    “I knew it…”

Shien covered his face, seemingly unable to bear watching.

The Goddess of Fate’s entrance today was still as comical as ever.

“Th-that’s why I told you not to run so fast…”

Anima finally caught up, looking at Lildas, who was tearfully clutching her face and being helped up by Lucy, sighing like a mother unable to stop her child from doing something foolish.

    “We greet Goddess Anima!”

The female knights of the Holy Sword Knights finally reacted and knelt down on one knee, bowing respectfully.

    “You haven’t left yet?”

Shien sighed helplessly and stepped forward, talking to Anima.

“I originally wanted to go back directly, but Lildas was unwilling, so I could only stay.” Anima smiled wryly, but still nodded at Shien. “I heard you’re preparing to enter the inner sanctum today, is that right?”

“That’s right.” Shien didn’t beat around the bush. “It’s a rare opportunity to increase my strength. I can’t miss it.”

“Indeed.” Anima smiled gently. “I just didn’t expect you to enter the inner sanctum so soon.”
