Chapter 115: Just Wait Until I Master My Skills

Although the effects of the Butterfly Flower Finger were neutralized by the Demonic Lotus Heavenly Yin, Su Mei was still straddling him, her robe half-open, the sheer fabric clinging to her body, his own pants untied and pulled down.

Her fingers traced the mark on his lower dantian as she chuckled, “When I bowed my head and bestowed the Demonic Lotus mark upon you, you looked so eager. Did you think I was going to do something else?”

Her words rekindled the desire he had been trying to suppress. His body reacted involuntarily.

Su Mei giggled, “Disobeying your master? Little Emerald, bite him!”

    Another yelp of pain followed…

Shi Hao realized he was no match for this demonic master. She was playing him like a fiddle.

He silently vowed, Just wait until I master my skills…

But he was still surprised that Su Mei had actually made him her true disciple.

Su Mei, laughing, got off the bed and casually tied her robe, her shoulders bare, her skin gleaming.

Shi Hao hurriedly adjusted his own clothes and asked, “Master, you said the traditional method of inheritance involves a close familial bond, but isn’t it said that…”

Su Mei smiled, “That demonic sects sever all ties with their disciples’ families?”

She looked up, a thoughtful expression on her face, “As far as I can remember, I only had my master. Later, I learned that my family had likely been killed by the demonic sects. But for me, my master was the most important person in the world.”

“If I could go back in time and choose again, I would still join the Evil Lotus Sect. Having reached this level of cultivation, having seen the mysteries hidden from ordinary people, I can no longer imagine returning to an ordinary life.”

“The demonic sects value inheritance above all else. They devote all their resources to their chosen disciples. No one has ever been as kind to me as my master. So, if you ask me if I would want to see my family, even if they’re still alive, I wouldn’t.

“And even if my master was the one who killed them, I couldn’t hate her. Perhaps… that’s the demonic path.”

Seeing the rare display of vulnerability on her face, Shi Hao asked softly, “Was your master still alive when you entered the Primordial Grotto Heaven?”

Su Mei shook her head, “She died by Ye Zi Yin’s sword.”

    Shi Hao fell silent.

Su Mei, however, chuckled, “Ye Zi Yin and I are natural enemies. One more death doesn’t make a difference. And in that situation, one of us had to die. She was simply the stronger one.

“So I don’t harbor any resentment. If we’re counting, I’ve killed far more so-called ‘righteous’ martial artists than she has demonic cultivators. But before she died, Master placed her hopes on me, believing I could revive the Evil Lotus Sect, unite the demonic sects, and restore our glory.”

“Unfortunately, our brief moment of unity was short-lived. Three hundred years have passed in the outside world.”

Shi Hao thought, If only one of them had survived, she would be a legend in the martial world. But their rivalry… it was their undoing.

He couldn’t help but ask, “Master, are you sure you want me as your disciple? I’m a man…”

Su Mei turned to him and smiled, “The world is descending into chaos. The three Evil Lotus factions must reunite. I don’t have time to train a new disciple, and even if I did, they might not be as talented as you.

“And you’re walking a path no one has ever walked before. I’m curious to see what you can achieve before I leave this place.”

She said, “Follow me. Little Emerald, wait here.” The Emerald Beauty bowed, “Farewell, Master, Young Master.” Su Mei led Shi Hao down the jade staircase to the lower level.

The pool shimmered, golden lotuses blooming at its edge. Su Mei pushed him into the water.

Shi Hao landed with a splash. Su Mei giggled, removed her robe, and gracefully entered the pool.

As Shi Hao emerged from the water, she threw herself into his arms. He caught her, but she pulled him back down.

He struggled to his feet, holding the sopping wet, now practically naked, Su Mei in his arms, and stammered, “Master…”

Su Mei giggled, “Little Emerald isn’t here. You can call me ‘wife.’ She won’t bite you.” She tapped his forehead playfully, “Or do you only want a master, not a wife?”

With a wave of her hand, the water swirled around them, forming a swirling vortex.

In a moment, the space around them was clear.

Shi Hao looked up and saw the water forming a dome around them, like a translucent wall, creating a secluded space.

He marveled at her power. He had envisioned his own future mastery of martial arts, but how long would it take him to achieve such effortless control over the elements?

The swirling water created a private chamber, its surface shimmering.

They were both still drenched, especially Su Mei, her sheer undergarment clinging to her body, her curves clearly visible, her beauty captivating.

Although the Holy Jade Immortal had taught him the Sacred Heart Clear Mirror Technique to resist Su Mei’s seductions, she wasn’t using any techniques now. Her natural charm alone was irresistible.

Su Mei gently pushed him down onto the ground, her body half-reclining on top of him, and smiled, “Did I make you lose control earlier? Hee hee, I’ll give you a chance now. You can ask me for anything, and I’ll grant your wish.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Do you want me to… do this for you, or do you want to… do that to me?”

Her voice was soft and seductive, her eyes sparkling with playful invitation, her every move alluring, making his heart race.

Shi Hao, holding her close, took a deep breath and said, “Wife, please teach me the Secret Canon.”

He had realized that Su Mei had brought him here to impart the Secret Canon.

Having bestowed the Demonic Lotus Heavenly Yin upon him, making him the true inheritor of the Evil Lotus Sect, teaching him the Secret Canon was the next logical step.

There were two copies of the Secret Canon. Su Mei, as the sect leader, would personally impart the teachings to her chosen disciple. Only if something happened to her would the Emerald Beauty, the Keeper of the Canon, take over.

Having given him the Demonic Lotus Heavenly Yin but not the Secret Canon made no sense.

But even so, she still wanted to tease him. It was simply her nature.

He could have used this opportunity to have his way with her, but what if she went back on her word? He was no match for her.

Should he trust her promise? This was the demonic sects, after all.

If he made some outlandish request, she would likely just tease him further, and he would gain nothing.

It was better to become her disciple.

After all, inheritance was paramount in the demonic sects. While blood ties were the strongest bond in the mortal world, for the secretive and enigmatic demonic sects, inheritance was even more important.

Su Mei giggled, tapping his forehead playfully, “Should I praise your cleverness, or scold you for missing such a golden opportunity?”

She sat up and pulled him up, her voice soft and melodious, “Daoist scriptures are often cryptic and difficult to understand. Without knowledge of the Daoist canon, even the most powerful manuals are useless. Our demonic scriptures, however, are passed down orally, so there’s no need for such obfuscation.

“I will now recite the Secret Canon for you, word for word. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. The Evil Lotus Secret Canon is passed down through a single lineage. There’s no room for error.”

Chapter 114: Demonic Lotus Heavenly Yin

In response to Su Mei’s question, Shi Hao said, his head aching slightly, “I have all the ingredients for the Daoist elixir: the Illusory Sea Spirit Fruit, the Molting Snake Reverse Scale, the Tri-colored Qilin Grass, and the Carriage Horse Mushroom. But for the demonic ritual, I still need the blood of an Undying Child and a matricide’s heart.”

Su Mei smiled, “The blood of an Undying Child should be easy enough to obtain. Or are you reluctant to harm those… children?”

Shi Hao shook his head, “No, it’s just that the demonic sects rarely train Undying Children anymore. Sixty years ago, there was the Blood Child Rebellion, when an elder called the Blood Vine Patriarch used Undying Children to cause chaos throughout the demonic sects.

“The only Undying Child I know of is a trained assassin in the Ghost Extreme Sect, who is likely also at Dragon Head Mountain. As for the matricide’s heart…”

The Emerald Beauty kowtowed, “Young Master, I know how to obtain a matricide’s heart. Leave it to me.”

Shi Hao looked at the small, delicate doll and wondered what sinister methods it would employ.

Su Mei, however, didn’t give him a chance to refuse, “In that case, it’s settled.”

She looked at him, her eyes flickering, “Why do you possess Primordial Energy?”

Seeing Ye Zi Yin also looking at him, Shi Hao asked in surprise, “You know about Primordial Energy?”

Su Mei chuckled, “Of course we do. It’s you, a mere seventh-rank martial artist, possessing Primordial Energy, that’s surprising.”

Shi Hao said, “I discovered it by accident. By circulating my Daoist and demonic energies in opposite directions, I can generate this… mysterious energy. It’s different from ordinary internal energy and has some unique properties. I didn’t know what to call it, so I named it Primordial Energy… I thought no one had ever cultivated it before.”

Ye Zi Yin’s eyes twinkled, “Primordial Energy has existed since ancient times. The first to discover it also didn’t know what to call it. Because it’s so profound and mysterious, and clearly superior to ordinary true energy and demonic energy, they called it Primordial Energy.

“But no one has ever cultivated it as easily as you have. It’s a crucial step for reaching the third rank, requiring one to push their cultivation to the absolute limit, achieving perfect balance between yin and yang, before it can be generated.

“You’re probably the first person in history to possess Primordial Energy before even reaching the high ranks.”

Su Mei, her eyes narrowed, smiled, “The world is vast and full of wonders. Something others struggle their entire lives to achieve, you obtained so easily. It seems dual cultivation of Daoist and demonic arts might truly be capable of achieving the impossible.

“But are you sure about this? If you stay here, you’ll at least survive. If you leave, and you don’t find the blood of an Undying Child, you’ll die within days. Are you willing to risk your life for those two girls and the so-called ‘greater good’?”

Shi Hao nodded resolutely, “I have to leave.”

Ye Zi Yin looked at him approvingly.

Su Mei shrugged, “Very well. Then we’ll use these three days to train you further.”

She looked at Ye Zi Yin, “I’ll take him first. You can have him in six hours.”

Ye Zi Yin didn’t reply, simply turning and leaving.

Shi Hao followed Su Mei through the tilted archway to the partially collapsed palace.

The Emerald Beauty, its small arms outstretched, flew behind them.

Su Mei led him to the second floor, leaving the Emerald Beauty outside the carved screen, and pulled him towards the white jade bed, lowering the gauze curtains.

    Shi Hao stammered, “This…”

Su Mei gently pushed him onto the bed and giggled, “What should you call me?”

Shi Hao whispered, “Wife…” He was afraid the Emerald Beauty would hear and attack him.

Su Mei chuckled, “Why so quiet? You weren’t so timid last time.”

That’s because there wasn’t a doll that bites, he thought.

Su Mei said, “Well, at least for now, call me Master.”

    Shi Hao said, “Master.”

Su Mei said, “Good boy!” She climbed onto the bed and straddled him.

Shi Hao said nervously, “Master…?” What are you doing?

Su Mei chuckled, “I’ve always wanted a cute male disciple to train and… discipline. Unfortunately, it never happened. Today, you’ll have to do.”

Shi Hao quickly said, “Master, please… behave… Master…” Her movements were making him uncomfortable.

Su Mei leaned closer, her hand caressing his face, and smiled, “In the demonic sects, inheritance is paramount. The bond between master and disciple is sacred. I’m both your wife and your master. Don’t you want to… do something for your master? Or are you not… excited?”

Being both master and wife was indeed… exciting.

But Shi Hao knew this demonic master was playing with him, so he remained cautious.

Su Mei’s delicate hands traced his chest, and he felt a wave of heat surging through him, his body reacting involuntarily.

He gritted his teeth, deciding he couldn’t be so passive. He wrapped his arms around her waist, flipped her over, pinning her beneath him, and, using the Butterfly Flower Finger, began caressing her body.

“Oh my, you’re defying your master!” Su Mei giggled, her breath catching in her throat, then she suddenly shouted, “Little Emerald, bite him!”

A small figure shot through the screen, past the bed curtains, and bit Shi Hao’s shoulder.

Shi Hao cried out in pain… That little doll had sharp teeth.

Su Mei chuckled, “How dare you defy your master?”

She picked up the Emerald Beauty and placed it on the bedside table, “Keep an eye on him. If he misbehaves again, bite him!”

“Yes, Master!” the Emerald Beauty glared at Shi Hao, its small face contorted in a menacing grimace, its tiny mouth revealing sharp fangs… No wonder its bite was so painful.

Su Mei flipped over, pinning Shi Hao beneath her again, straddling him.

She wore a long, crimson robe, less convenient for such activities than a skirt.

Straddling him like this, her legs were restricted, her posture awkward.

Perhaps because of the uncomfortable position, she untied her belt and loosened her robe, revealing a thin, white undergarment that barely concealed her body, the curves of her breasts tantalizingly visible beneath the sheer fabric.

Her slender legs, freed from the robe, wrapped around him, her smooth calves exposed… Traditionally, trousers weren’t worn under robes. They became common later, with the rise of skirts, which, being less restrictive, could easily reveal the legs.

Shi Hao’s gaze, drawn to the point of contact between her legs and his lower abdomen, lingered, and a sharp pain shot through his shoulder… Little Emerald had bitten him again.

“I’m not wearing anything underneath,” Su Mei giggled, lifting the hem of her robe.

Shi Hao quickly averted his gaze… She was deliberately teasing him.

He would remember this. One day, when he was stronger…

Su Mei’s laughter echoed through the room.

She moved the Emerald Beauty aside and smiled, “Now, be a good boy.” She untied his belt, her delicate hands sliding beneath his clothes.

Her beauty was captivating, her robe half-open, draped over her arms, the thin undergarment barely concealing her body, her every move arousing. And she was using the Butterfly Flower Finger on him.

He writhed, trying to escape, but her legs held him firmly, her demonic energy pinning him down.

He suddenly remembered what he had done to Zhuo Mulan. So this was how it felt.

“Master… Master… Wife… Wife, stop…” His body burned with desire, his energy surging, seeking release.

Just as he reached his limit, unable to endure it any longer, about to defy his master and risk being bitten to death, Su Mei, her alluring body sliding downwards, lowered her head.

Shi Hao’s eyes widened, expecting… something, but her soft lips kissed him, not on his lips, but on his lower dantian, just below his navel.

He felt a surge of energy entering his lower dantian, the burning heat within him subsiding, replaced by a pleasant warmth.

Su Mei sat up and smiled, “Done.”

The Emerald Beauty bowed, “Congratulations, Young Master!”

Shi Hao looked down and saw a peach blossom shaped mark just below his navel.

He felt like he had been branded.

But a new, mysterious demonic energy, unlike the energy cultivated through the Mysterious Charm Technique or the Unfettered Demon’s Boundless Art, cool and refreshing, now resided in his lower dantian.

Su Mei smiled, her voice melodious, “This is the Demonic Lotus Heavenly Yin. With this, you are now the official inheritor of the Evil Lotus Sect’s true teachings. Do you know why, even with the scriptures, the three factions can’t advance beyond the fifth rank?

“Because the techniques in the Night Charm Demonic scriptures are all yang-oriented. To advance further, you need the Demonic Lotus Heavenly Yin. And the Demonic Lotus Heavenly Yin can only be bestowed upon the sect leader’s chosen disciple, either through a direct transmission like this, or by cultivating a secret technique from the Secret Canon, a process that usually takes almost ten years.

“Little Emerald is the Keeper of the Canon. Of course, as long as I’m alive, she wouldn’t dare teach anyone the technique for cultivating the Demonic Lotus Heavenly Yin.”

He hadn’t expected her to bestow the true inheritance upon him.

Shi Hao asked, surprised, “Master, is this how every generation of Evil Lotus Sect leaders has inherited the teachings? Isn’t this…” Isn’t this… lesbianism?

Su Mei chuckled, “Don’t misunderstand. This isn’t the usual method. Traditionally, the sect leader chooses an infant, or at least a child under three years old, and raises them.

“As the child grows older, the bond between master and disciple becomes like that of mother and daughter, their hearts connected, their intentions aligned, and then the Demonic Lotus Heavenly Yin is bestowed… not through a kiss, of course.”

She pointed to her forehead, where a similar peach blossom mark could be seen.

She smiled, “Normally, the mark is placed on the forehead. But since your upper dantian contains a Daoist internal elixir, which would reject the Demonic Lotus mark, I had to place it on your lower dantian.

“And do you feel the effects of the Butterfly Flower Finger vanishing? That’s because the Demonic Lotus Heavenly Yin suppresses the Evil Lotus Sect’s techniques, preventing disciples from using them against the sect leader or her chosen successor.

“As for why I had to use this method to bestow the Demonic Lotus Heavenly Yin upon you… it’s because we don’t have that kind of deep, familial bond. Traditionally, the sect leader raises the chosen disciple from childhood, forging a bond of love and trust. Since we don’t have that, I had to use… other methods.”

Chapter 113: True Dragon Energy, Dao Body Demonic Seed

Shi Hao said solemnly, “I recall the Yang Dynasty only lasted two generations.”

Su Mei, swinging her legs, chuckled from the other side, “That’s right. We, the Evil Lotus Sect, and the Taisu Immortal Pavilion, destroyed it together.”

    Shi Hao was stunned, “But…”

Su Mei said, “The Taisu Immortal Pavilion summoned the True Dragon, creating a dragon vein, hoping to ensure the Yang Dynasty’s long-term prosperity. But destiny is fickle.

“The second emperor of the Yang Dynasty, Emperor Yang, wasn’t the original crown prince. To seize the throne, he secretly became the disciple of a demonic cultivator. He was cunning and patient, hiding his true nature until he became emperor. By then, protected by the dragon vein, blessed by destiny, haha, the Taisu Immortal Pavilion’s immortals had shot themselves in the foot.”

Ye Zi Yin said calmly, “Destiny is unpredictable. The Taisu Immortal Pavilion’s ancestors simply did their best. Undeniably, the Yang Dynasty ended a century of war and brought a period of peace and prosperity.

“And even with Emperor Yang’s tyranny, the ensuing chaos didn’t last long.”

Shi Hao looked at Su Mei, puzzled, “If Emperor Yang was a demonic cultivator, why did the Evil Lotus Sect join forces with the Taisu Immortal Pavilion to overthrow him?”

Before Su Mei could answer, Ye Zi Yin sneered, “Infighting among the demonic sects is often more brutal than the conflict between Daoism and the demonic path. Although Emperor Yang was a demonic cultivator, he wasn’t from the Evil Lotus Sect. How could they tolerate that?

“And because he rose to power with the help of a demonic sect, he was wary of them. His first act as emperor was to try and eradicate them.”

Shi Hao thought about it. It made sense.

Su Mei rolled her eyes, ignoring Ye Zi Yin’s sarcasm, and looked at Shi Hao, “The sect that helped Emperor Yang seize the throne was the Yin Emperor Sect, a secretive and ancient demonic sect. But after becoming emperor, he betrayed them, destroying the Yin Emperor Sect and persecuting all demonic sects.

“Since he targeted the demonic sects, they naturally retaliated. Demonic techniques are unpredictable, and even with the dragon vein’s protection, Emperor Yang was afraid. Having received the Yin Emperor Sect’s teachings, he trusted no one but himself. But as emperor, he didn’t have much time for cultivation. So, to increase his power, he performed a dangerous demonic ritual, forcibly advancing several ranks, becoming one of the most powerful demonic cultivators.”

Shi Hao said thoughtfully, “Wouldn’t that lead to demonic affliction?”

Su Mei said, “Exactly! Emperor Yang’s forced advancement corrupted his soul, changing his personality. Although he had been ruthless before, he was also intelligent and patient. But after succumbing to demonic influence, he became arrogant, tyrannical, and cruel. The more corrupted he became, the more he harmed the world.”

She smiled, “Although it seems hypocritical for us, a demonic sect, to criticize such behavior, we value profit. If we controlled the world, we would want peace and prosperity to maximize our gains. But demons are different. They don’t care about the mortal world.”

“Emperor Yang’s corruption led to chaos and suffering, and because of those self-righteous ‘immortals’ meddling with destiny and summoning the True Dragon, both the Daoist and demonic sects, and even the entire world, were in grave danger.

“At that critical moment, our Evil Lotus Sect and the Taisu Immortal Pavilion were forced to join forces, our only cooperation in history. Together, we severed the dragon vein, ending the Yang Dynasty’s reign, and killed Emperor Yang.”

Ye Zi Yin said calmly, “After Emperor Yang’s death, the Taisu Immortal Pavilion and the Evil Lotus Sect naturally became enemies again. And although most of the True Dragon’s energy dissipated when the dragon vein was severed, a portion remained, sealed beneath Dragon Head Mountain. This was a secret known only to our two sects.

“We fought over it, but both sides had suffered losses in the conflict with Emperor Yang and couldn’t afford another major war. And the remaining True Dragon energy wasn’t enough to create a new dragon vein. Our priority was establishing our influence in the ensuing chaos.

“So, we both kept the secret of the True Dragon energy hidden beneath Dragon Head Mountain. And we both knew that if one side tried to use it, the other could easily dispel it. So, it remained sealed there.”

“But now, after three hundred years, the secret has likely been leaked, attracting the attention of the Ancestral Altar and the Ghost Extreme Sect.”

Shi Hao exhaled slowly. The situation was more complicated than he had imagined.

And it had all started with the Taisu Immortal Pavilion’s “mistake” three hundred years ago.

Everyone knew the Taisu Immortal Pavilion had played a role in the rise of the Sheng Dynasty.

But few knew they were also responsible for the rise and fall of the Yang Dynasty.

He asked, his voice filled with concern, “This True Dragon energy is so powerful. What do the Ghost Extreme Sect and the Ancestral Altar intend to do with it?”

Su Mei chuckled, “The Ghost Extreme Sect is an ancient demonic sect. Little Emerald just told us their plans. Since they’re risking their entire sect, it must be related to their ultimate goal: opening the gates of hell and transforming the mortal world into a ghostly realm.”

“As for the Ancestral Altar… hmm, you mentioned the barbarian court is constructing a grand canal?”

Shi Hao said, “That’s right! The barbarian Chancellor doesn’t seem foolish. He should know that with the current corruption and unrest, such a massive project will only hasten the barbarian court’s collapse. Even if the canal is completed, benefiting future generations, by then, the barbarian court might be gone.”

    “It doesn’t make sense.”

Ye Zi Yin said solemnly, “When the dragon vein was severed, Emperor Yang, in his final moments, also ordered the construction of a grand canal, a project that cost hundreds of thousands of lives. We thought he had gone mad, driven by demonic influence. But perhaps there was another reason?”

Su Mei, her legs crossed, said casually, “It’s possible.”

Shi Hao thought, This mystery needs to be solved.

But he had a more pressing concern. He looked at the Emerald Beauty, “Is there any way to stop the Dao Body Demonic Seed ritual for Yuejiao and Xiaoyan?”

The Emerald Beauty, prostrating itself before him, its voice trembling, said, “Well…”

Su Mei chuckled from the other side, “Once the Dao Body Demonic Seed ritual begins, it can’t be stopped.”

Shi Hao’s heart sank. This meant they would either die or sever their emotions, becoming demonic cultivators.

Su Mei’s voice softened, “But don’t worry. Normally, there wouldn’t be a solution. But with your… unique situation, perhaps there’s a way for them to cultivate both Daoist and demonic arts simultaneously, retaining both their internal elixirs and the demonic essence. But I need to… research this further.”

“Your own problem, however, is more serious than theirs.”

Shi Hao examined his internal state again and smiled wryly, “I feel like my Daoist and demonic foundations are about to collapse.”

Ye Zi Yin said slowly, “You’re not wrong. The demonic fire, created from the True Dragon’s energy, is eroding your body. Even if you didn’t have a Daoist foundation, which the demonic fire naturally seeks to destroy, such a massive influx of demonic energy would eventually cause your body to explode.

“Fortunately, you returned to the Primordial Grotto Heaven in time. I helped you transform half of the demonic fire into Daoist energy, strengthening your Daoist foundation. Now, both your Daoist and demonic foundations are at their peak, but this rapid advancement, fueled by the True Dragon energy, is unstable.

“You have two choices. You can either stay here and spend at least half a month completely absorbing the True Dragon energy…”

Shi Hao shook his head, “Time flows differently here. Three days here is a moment outside. If I stay for half a month, decades might pass in the outside world. I can’t abandon Yuejiao and Xiaoyan. And with the world in chaos, I have to do something.”

He looked at the Emerald Beauty.

The Emerald Beauty kowtowed, “It’s all my fault! I sensed your Daoist cultivation, and although I included you in the Dao Body Demonic Seed ritual, I focused the demonic fire on you, hoping to…”

Shi Hao sighed, “Hoping to kill me?”

Su Mei floated over and smiled, “Little Emerald has never encountered a situation like yours. She saw your talent and thought you would be a suitable inheritor of the Evil Lotus Sect’s true teachings, but she was also worried you were a disciple of the Taisu Immortal Pavilion. Her hesitation… well, this is the result.”

Su Mei sat beside Shi Hao and placed a hand on his wrist, “If you stay here, we can help you stabilize your Daoist and demonic energies during these ten days or so. If you leave, we can only suppress them temporarily, but you’ll have to advance to the sixth rank in both Daoist and demonic cultivation within two or three days.

“That way, having already formed your seventh-rank internal and external elixirs, the Daoist energy from the True Dragon will be harnessed by your external elixir. And your demonic foundation, after obtaining a higher level of demonic essence, will absorb the unstable demonic fire from the True Dragon energy.

“How is your progress in gathering the ingredients for your Daoist elixir and the materials for your demonic ritual?”

  • I, The Man Who’ll Conquer Both the Immortal Venerable and the Demon Empress 112

Chapter 112: Full Moon, Return to the Grotto

Space shattered around him, fragmenting into countless shimmering shards, thin as cicada wings.

He fell through an endless darkness.

Then, blue and purple lights appeared, swirling around him, forming a vortex, a tunnel of light.

This was his third time here, but only now did he truly understand the process.

As space reassembled itself, the surrounding colors shifted and swirled.

A small hand pushed against his back, and a wave of demonic fire surged into him, burning through his meridians.

His Daoist foundation was about to collapse under the onslaught.

Another hand gently grasped his, pulling him away, a cooling energy flowing into him, protecting his upper dantian, stabilizing his Daoist energy.

Much of the demonic fire was absorbed by his demonic foundation in his lower dantian, which rapidly reached its peak, the surging heat causing him considerable discomfort.

The cooling energy, as it circulated, neutralized the remaining demonic fire, transforming it into a golden liquid that flowed towards his Daoist foundation.

“Demonic fire, formed from the True Dragon’s energy, has invaded your body. If you don’t absorb it completely, it will cause irreparable damage,” a cold yet gentle voice whispered beside him, “Sit down, focus your mind on your dantian, and I’ll help you transform this excess demonic fire into your internal elixir, restoring the balance between your Daoist and demonic energies.”

    Shi Hao quickly sat down.

A playful voice came from the other side, “Oh my, isn’t it Little Emerald? He brought you here as well?”

“M-Master?” a small, incredulous voice whispered, then turned into a wail, “Master!”

Something small and soft lunged towards him.

“Don’t cry, don’t cry,” the playful voice chuckled, “You’ve transferred your soul into this doll and used the Jade Corpse Technique? No wonder you’ve survived for so long. I thought I wouldn’t see you again after leaving this place. Oh my, what have you done to him? Dao Body Demonic Seed? Are you trying to kill him?”

The small voice said, “Master, he… he’s…”

The playful voice, like the tinkling of bells, said, “He’s… my man…”

A gust of wind rushed towards Shi Hao, and something sharp bit his shoulder.

“Just kidding, just kidding!” A hand pulled the small figure away from him, “He’s my… disciple! Yes, that’s right, my disciple!”

“Oh, Young Master!” the small voice cried, panicked, “I have sinned! I’ve offended the Young Master! Please punish me!”

What’s going on? Shi Hao thought.

The cold, slightly annoyed voice beside him said, “Ignore them. Focus on your cultivation.”

Shi Hao quickly calmed his mind, focusing on restoring his internal balance with the woman’s help.

After a long while, he opened his eyes.

He saw Ye Zi Yin, the Holy Jade Immortal, standing gracefully beneath a partially collapsed white jade pillar, her skin as white as snow, her figure tall and slender.

Her white robe, embroidered with auspicious cloud patterns, fluttered around her, making her seem like a celestial being about to ascend to the heavens.

No matter how many times he saw her, she always looked like an otherworldly goddess, her beauty breathtaking.

On the other side sat Su Mei, the Enchanting Fire Witch, dressed in a crimson robe, her hair styled in a beautiful bun, her legs crossed, her demeanor completely different from Ye Zi Yin’s.

Her beauty was captivating, her smile alluring, her eyes sparkling, her every movement graceful.

Even sitting still, she was like a flickering flame, bright and mesmerizing, drawing him in, like a moth to a flame.

The doll lay in her lap, clinging to her like a child.

“How are you feeling?” Su Mei smiled, her beautiful eyes sparkling with amusement.

“Terrible,” Shi Hao examined his internal state, alarmed, “Both the Gathering Essence Flowing Pearl Technique and the Unfettered Demon’s Boundless Art have reached their peak, my upper and lower dantians overflowing, but most of this energy isn’t from my own cultivation. Although I’m maintaining a precarious balance, I feel like I’m about to explode.”

Ye Zi Yin looked at him and said softly, “You’re not wrong. She transformed a large amount of True Dragon energy into demonic fire and infused it into you, using a secret ritual to try and ‘sacrifice’ your Daoist body.

“But you’re a dual cultivator. With your demonic energy at its peak due to the True Dragon energy, if your Daoist foundation was sacrificed, you would have died instantly.”

Shi Hao asked, puzzled, “True Dragon energy? Sacrifice?”

The Emerald Beauty flew from Su Mei’s lap and prostrated itself before him, its voice trembling, “Please forgive me, Young Master. I didn’t know it was you. I have committed a grave sin, punishable by death.”

Shi Hao asked, “What will happen to Yuejiao and Xiaoyan?”

The Emerald Beauty whispered, “They’re undergoing the Demonic Seed trial. That entire demonic hall is a ‘Dao Body Demonic Seed’ ritual. If they overcome the illusions and trials, they will sever their seven emotions, sacrifice their Daoist internal elixirs, obtain demonic essence from the Third Heaven, and become demonic cultivators.

“Then, they will inherit my Night Charm Secret Canon and become the next generation of true disciples of the Evil Lotus Sect. But now that I know Master has taken on a disciple, and you are the true inheritor, I realize my folly, my transgression. I deserve to die.”

Shi Hao looked at Su Mei.

Su Mei shrugged, “The Dao Body Demonic Seed is a unique ‘trial.’ Normally, Daoist and demonic cultivation methods are incompatible, but this ritual forcefully infuses demonic essence into their bodies, devouring their Daoist internal elixirs.

“This process is accompanied by terrifying trials. If they succeed, they sever all ties to their past, their emotions and attachments gone. Their Daoist internal elixirs become fuel for the demonic essence, greatly enhancing their power, allowing them to quickly advance to higher ranks.

“But if they fail, they die. Little Emerald tricked you into the Demonic Lotus Palace, subjecting you all to the ritual. Your case is unique; you should have died. As for the other two girls, if they passed the trial, she would have chosen them as her successors. If they failed, they would have died there, their secrets safe.”

Ye Zi Yin said calmly, “That’s the way of the demonic sects. Before accepting a true disciple, they ensure they have no attachments, no weaknesses.”

Su Mei said nonchalantly, “Indeed. We sever emotions, while you Daoists suppress desires. Neither is more virtuous than the other.”

She looked at Shi Hao and smiled, “Of course, we don’t actually sever all emotions. It’s just that the demonic sects value secrecy. Attachments outside the sect can become weaknesses, so we eliminate them. Unlike those hypocritical Daoists, suppressing all desires, trying to become something they’re not.”

Ye Zi Yin said coldly, “Don’t distort the truth. Daoist cultivation is about freedom and liberation, not denying our humanity. Emotions and desires are shackles, but we must experience them to transcend them. It’s better than your demonic sects, killing a child’s entire family before accepting them as a disciple.”

    Su Mei said, “Oh, that’s…”

Shi Hao quickly interrupted, “Ladies, ladies… let’s talk about this True Dragon energy. What is it?” He knew they would argue endlessly.

Su Mei glanced at Ye Zi Yin, “If you want to know about True Dragon energy, you should ask this Taisu Immortal Pavilion ‘immortal.’ It’s their creation.”

    Her tone was sarcastic.

But Ye Zi Yin ignored her and looked at Shi Hao, “The universe is vast and full of wonders. You know about the Demonic Realm. Do you know that besides the mortal world, there’s also a ‘Celestial Realm’?”

Shi Hao asked, surprised, “Celestial Realm?” He had never heard of it.

Although, thinking about it, with the existence of the Demonic Realm, a Celestial Realm wasn’t that strange.

Ye Zi Yin said, “The Celestial Realm isn’t as grand as people imagine. It’s not a paradise for immortals. Of course, it might have been different in ancient times, but now, it’s more like a ruin.

“Perhaps there were truly immortals in the Celestial Realm in ancient times. But something happened, leaving only ruins and some… unusual beings, unknown to the mortal world. The ‘True Dragon’ is one of them.”

Shi Hao asked, “So… dragons really exist?”

Ye Zi Yin shook her head, “The True Dragon isn’t a dragon, but a kind of… energy. Like the Demonic Realm, the things in the Celestial Realm are intangible from the mortal perspective. But the Celestial Realm exists above the mortal world, its energy influencing our world, shaping our destiny.

“The ancestors of the Taisu Immortal Pavilion, to end the endless wars and suffering during the late Yang Dynasty, chose a worthy ruler and, using a secret technique, summoned the True Dragon from the Celestial Realm. The True Dragon descended, forming a dragon vein, protecting the chosen ruler and helping him unify the land. This ruler became Emperor Wen of the Yang Dynasty.

“Following the Taisu Immortal Pavilion’s advice, Emperor Wen built a great city along the dragon vein. This city became Dàxīng City. The Taisu Immortal Pavilion believed that, protected by the dragon vein, the Yang Dynasty would usher in an era of peace and prosperity, lasting for centuries.

“Unfortunately, they were only half right.”

  • I, The Man Who’ll Conquer Both the Immortal Venerable and the Demon Empress 111

    Chapter 111: “Tremble! Scream!”

Du Yuejiao’s swordsmanship was completely different now.

The golden energy from above flowed downwards, merging with the crimson demonic flames, intensifying them.

Each of her sword strikes unleashed a burst of demonic fire.

Her movements were fluid and powerful, her aura menacing, her entire being radiating a sinister energy.

Shi Hao, however, showed no fear. He held his sword, still sheathed, its disguised wooden handle deflecting Du Yuejiao’s attacks.

Her power surged, overwhelming him, forcing him to retreat.

“Yes, I was the one who captured, imprisoned, and tortured you,” Shi Hao said, deflecting her attacks with the Six Immortal Lightning Strikes, his sword a blur, “Didn’t you find it… stimulating?”

Du Yuejiao’s face contorted in rage, her teeth gritted, her sword a whirlwind of demonic energy.

He was the most shameless person she had ever met.

Her sword erupted in flames, sweeping towards Shi Hao.

The Mysterious Charm Technique? Shi Hao was slightly surprised.

It was similar to the Mysterious Charm Technique, but the flames, rising from below, seemed to amplify her sword’s power, making it even more ferocious.

Du Yuejiao, a Daoist cultivator, was using demonic techniques. If Shi Hao weren’t a “monster” himself, he would have been shocked.

He continued retreating, parrying her relentless attacks.

He knew he should be trying to calm her down, denying everything, perhaps even trying to… seduce her.

But one lie would require more lies to cover it up.

And although Yuejiao was easily deceived, the Emerald Beauty was watching.

It was better to be direct, “Yuejiao, stop this. What I did was wrong, but think about it, if we’re together in the future, won’t it be a… fond memory?”

“You have to admit, I was quite gentle. If you weren’t so beautiful, I would have been much more… ruthless. Why did I capture you and then rescue you? Because I like you, of course.”

Of course, his true motive had been to obtain information about the God-Sealing Stones, but he couldn’t reveal that.

“Don’t lie to me!” the girl screamed, “If that’s true, why didn’t you come looking for me? Why were you with her?”

Good question… why? he thought, dodging her increasingly frantic attacks, “Yuejiao, Yuejiao, let me make something up… I mean, let me explain!”

Xu Xiaoyan, tied to the rack, shouted, “Don’t believe him! He’s lying! He’s just playing with you! He thinks you’re annoying, clinging to him! He just wanted to use you and then discard you…”

Shi Hao shouted, “Xu Xiaoyan, stop making things worse!” He was sweating under Du Yuejiao’s increasingly powerful attacks.

Xu Xiaoyan laughed, “Don’t you get it? He had a reason for capturing you. Think about it, what did he want from you? And what information did he get from you after he ‘rescued’ you? Think! Don’t let him deceive you again!”

Shi Hao shouted, “Xu Xiaoyan, I came here to save you! Whose side are you on?!”

Du Yuejiao stopped attacking, her sword gripped tightly, her body trembling with rage, “The God-Sealing Stones… so, that evening, when you held me in your arms, whispering sweet nothings… it was all for the God-Sealing Stones?”

Xu Xiaoyan’s laughter echoed, “Oh, it was for the God-Sealing Stones? Why didn’t you say so? I have that information! If you had come to me, you wouldn’t have needed her! All those sweet words, those promises… lies, all lies!”

“Aaah!” Du Yuejiao screamed, her demonic aura flaring, flames erupting around her.

She lunged forward, her flaming sword aimed at Shi Hao, intending to incinerate him… but her attack missed.

While she was screaming, Shi Hao had used the Soul Chasing Locking Steps to move behind her and was now running towards the other end of the bridge.

Seeing him trying to save Xu Xiaoyan, Du Yuejiao’s fury intensified. She turned and, like a fiery phoenix, attacked him.

Shi Hao turned, his sword flashing, deflecting her attacks, the scabbard in his other hand also creating a blur of motion.

After several clashes, flames erupting around them, he was thrown backwards.

“Die!” Du Yuejiao’s eyes were filled with tears, but her attacks were merciless, her flaming sword aimed at his chest.

Another clang echoed as sparks flew.

A small figure leaped forward, rolling on the ground, intercepting Du Yuejiao’s sword.

It was Xu Xiaoyan, wielding Shi Hao’s sword, its blade narrow and thin, its hilt cylindrical.

Shi Hao only held the scabbard now, the chains binding Xu Xiaoyan broken.

“You’ll both die!” Du Yuejiao roared, her attacks even more ferocious.

Shi Hao watched as Xu Xiaoyan leaped into the air, clashing with Du Yuejiao. She too was now enveloped in a demonic aura, her movements fueled by the flames of the lotus below.

Why is Xiaoyan like this too? he wondered, alarmed.

Both Yuejiao and Xiaoyan cultivated Daoist internal energy.

Although Du Yuejiao practiced orthodox Chongxian Sect techniques, while Xu Xiaoyan’s were from an unknown, unusually yin source, they were both using demonic energy now.

The golden energy from above flowed into the demonic flames below, further intensifying them, swirling around the two women, seeping into their bodies.

Shi Hao knew the Emerald Beauty was behind this, but he couldn’t see it anywhere.

He shouted, “Xiao Yan, what’s going on?”

Xu Xiaoyan, without turning around, shouted back, “I don’t know! I feel like I’m dying!”

“Then let’s die together! Hahahaha!” Du Yuejiao’s laughter echoed through the cavern, her demeanor almost crazed.

Shi Hao shouted, “Don’t die, Yuejiao! We’re meant to be together! I love you!” He was trying to calm her down.

Xu Xiaoyan shouted, “Just be together then! Leave me out of it! I’m leaving!” She tried to escape.

But Du Yuejiao’s relentless attacks continued.

Engulfed in flames, the two young women clashed, their swords flashing.

Shi Hao could sense their power increasing.

He looked around. The fiery lotus below continued to “bloom,” its petals spreading across the walls, rising upwards, transforming the cavern into a fiery temple.

And the golden energy from above continued to fuel the flames.

With a loud crack, the stone bridge beneath them collapsed, and the two girls screamed as they fell towards the sea of fire.

Shi Hao, in a flash, caught them both, his arms wrapping around their waists, and pushed them towards the edges of the broken bridge.

“Shi Hao?” “Brother Shi?” They both cried out in surprise as they were thrown upwards.

Shi Hao, unable to stop his own momentum, fell into the flames. To his surprise, instead of burning, he felt a surge of chaotic demonic energy.

“Look out!” the two girls on the broken bridge shouted simultaneously.

Shi Hao turned and saw the doll… the Emerald Beauty.

Its small hands, palms facing him, were outstretched. He felt a jolt, and a wave of demonic fire washed over him, surging into his body, his demonic energy swelling, rising towards his upper dantian.

It’s trying to destroy my Daoist foundation! he realized.

But he was paralyzed, unable to move. The golden energy within the cavern, transformed by the demonic flames, flowed into him, his demonic foundation surging uncontrollably, reaching its peak.

At the same time, the demonic fire, like a venomous dragon, coiled towards his upper dantian, devouring his Daoist foundation.

The two girls on the broken bridge jumped down, landing in the flames, trying to reach him. Then, they screamed, writhing in the fire.

Their bodies weren’t burning, but the flames, transformed into pure demonic energy, were pouring into them.

“Tremble! Scream!” the Emerald Beauty’s small figure, also enveloped in demonic energy, its beautiful face now twisted into a grimace, shouted, “Only the strongest will survive and inherit my legacy! The weak will perish! Let’s see who’s worthy! You can hate me, but it won’t change anything! Hehehehe…”

Shi Hao’s mind was filled with visions, his consciousness sinking into an abyss.

At the last moment, he used the Sacred Heart Clear Mirror Technique, his body surging upwards, escaping the flames.

“You can’t escape!” the Emerald Beauty shrieked, pursuing him, a wave of demonic fire following in her wake.

Shi Hao ignored it, continuing to rise, higher and higher, towards a sliver of moonlight filtering through a crack in the mountain.

Just as the Emerald Beauty, her demonic fire like a tsunami, reached out, about to touch him…

…the Jade Clarity Stone in his hand, held aloft, was illuminated by the moonlight—

Chapter 110: Opening the Gates of Hell, Flaunting in Public

Shi Hao stared at her intently.

Du Yuejiao’s eyes were still filled with hope, “Brother Shi, just tell me you weren’t the one who hurt me, and I’ll believe you. I’ll believe anything you say, Brother Shi…”

Shi Hao, after a moment of thought, transformed into the hooked-nosed young man using the Evil Shadow Disguise Technique and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Du Yuejiao’s body trembled, her hand gripping her sword so tightly that her knuckles turned white.

She screamed, “Bastard!” Her sword flashed, a crimson arc of light, and a wave of demonic energy, like a raging storm, surged towards him.

At the bottom of the chasm, a hidden altar stood.

Eight six-foot-tall dragon whisker candles, arranged according to the eight trigrams, burned in the corners of the altar.

Despite the wind swirling down from above, the flames flickered brightly, growing stronger with the wind.

The eight flames illuminated the altar, where Grandmother Ba sat cross-legged, her hands clasped together, motionless.

Before her, on a square jade platform, sat a large, spherical pearl, about a foot in diameter. Originally translucent, it now glowed with a golden light.

The chasm seemed to contain a powerful, boundless energy, a golden aura swirling within, drawn towards the pearl.

“Grandmother,” the woman in black floated to Grandmother Ba’s side and whispered, “Most of the Shark Dragon Gang members are dead, their Four Dragon Serpent Generals either dead or injured. Our forces have also suffered heavy losses.”

Grandmother Ba, her eyes closed, said calmly, “I see. Have Yue Ya’er and Kelian retreat. They’re no match for what’s coming. And bring all your experts here. Our priority now is protecting this altar.”

The woman in black floated away.

After a while, Grandmother Ba slowly opened her eyes, “The Gates of Hell open, flaunting in public… They’re here.”

Outside, Yue Ya’er and the other girls from the Ancestral Altar, following orders, retreated to a safe location.

The full moon, round and bright, now hung in the sky, its light illuminating the glowing Dragon Head Mountain.

Suddenly, someone looked back and exclaimed, “What’s that?”

Yue Ya’er, Kelian, and the others also turned and looked.

A black carriage, floating in the air, approached the chasm on Dragon Head Mountain.

A black coffin rested on the carriage, its dark shape strangely conspicuous under the bright moonlight.

As the carriage approached, figures rose from the ground, their movements stiff and unnatural.

They were the martial artists and soldiers who had just died in battle.

The rising corpses, their numbers growing, filled the mountainside, a horrifying sight.

From within the chasm, a golden liquid flowed upwards, drawn towards the black coffin.

Under the moonlight, an army of corpses, their movements jerky and unnatural, followed the black carriage, which, pulled by black horses, floated through the air, its black coffin a stark contrast to the silvery moonlight, like a king returning to his throne, its presence commanding and ominous.

At the entrance to the chasm, where the mountain had split apart, a swirling vortex of golden light, brighter than the moon, pulsed with energy.

A golden stream of energy flowed from the vortex towards the black coffin.

This bizarre and magnificent scene, defying all logic, transfixed the onlookers, none daring to approach.

At the bottom of the chasm, on the altar, Grandmother Ba remained motionless, her eyes closed, seemingly oblivious to the events unfolding above.

Numerous women from the Ancestral Altar surrounded her, a faint, invisible miasma radiating outwards from them.

Piles of stones, some stacked three high, others seven, stood around the altar, each with a kneeling woman in colorful attire, chanting softly.

The Ancestral Altar worshipped Mother Sky, Abukahehe. They believed stones were vessels for shamanic spirits, their power enhancing the shamans’ abilities.

These stone piles were their idols, their source of power.

The woman in black stood silently behind Grandmother Ba.

Looking up, she saw the carriage slowly descending into the chasm.

The moonlight, like a silver bridge, illuminated its path, then vanished as it entered the depths.

Countless corpses, their movements jerky and unnatural, advanced towards the altar.

Several figures, following the carriage, also entered the chasm, surrounding the black coffin – Ghost Howl, Li Ximing, and other experts of the Ghost Extreme Sect.

Under the full moon, the Ghost Extreme Sect had finally revealed their full strength.

The corpses, like ants, their mouths open in silent screams, swarmed towards the altar.

A melodious chant echoed through the chasm, and plumes of green smoke rose from the stone piles, forming human shapes that clashed with the approaching corpses.

A strange and eerie battle unfolded at the bottom of the chasm, amidst the swirling golden light, its energy surging like a tidal wave.

And some of this energy flowed towards the surrounding mountains, reaching a cave deep within one of the peaks, where a young woman in a colorful Daoist robe, her mind consumed by rage and despair, attacked her lover… the cruel, domineering, gentle, and mysterious young man.

“Is this the ‘Gates of Hell open, flaunting in public’ that Grandmaster Shuiyue mentioned?” a woman’s voice whispered from the shadows, “Is that black carriage carrying the ‘Flaunting Star,’ a high-rank divine crystal?”

A group of women hid in the shadows, observing the battle between the Ancestral Altar and the Ghost Extreme Sect.

A tall woman in a green robe, her hair styled in a high bun, a phoenix crown adorning her head, was Xuan Feng Huanzhi, the leader of the Black Lotus Realm.

A woman with fair skin and ample bosom, dressed in colorful attire, her hair in a flowing cloud bun, was Yue Yaotai, the leader of the Moon Lotus Pavilion.

And a younger woman, her figure slender and graceful, holding an elegant round fan, was Sha Lingshan, the leader of the Mirror Flower Water Moon Pavilion.

Behind them stood the experts of their respective factions: Dragon Girl and Snake Charmer of the Black Lotus Realm, Zhu Ping, the Crimson Lotus Fiery Blaze, and Huan Tingting, the Black Heart Enchantress, of the Moon Lotus Pavilion, Peach Blossom Lady and Plum Blossom Lady of the Mirror Flower Water Moon Pavilion, and others.

It was Sha Lingshan, the youngest of the three leaders, who had spoken.

She appeared the most relaxed and carefree among them.

“Yes,” Xuan Feng Huanzhi said coldly, “The one in the black coffin is Peng Tianwang, the ‘Heaven’s Folly Ghost Sorrow,’ the leader of the Ghost Extreme Sect. He’s over a hundred and ten years old now. He rarely appears in public. I didn’t expect such a grand entrance.”

They looked up and saw the golden pearl before Grandmother Ba radiating a brilliant light.

The black coffin on the carriage also emitted a powerful demonic aura.

The golden, swirling energy within the chasm seemed to be pulled towards both the pearl and the coffin, warping and distorting.

“That energy must be what they’re fighting over,” Sha Lingshan sighed, “I wonder what it is. It must be incredibly valuable. Even from this distance, I can feel my own internal energy surging uncontrollably.”

The others exchanged glances… They all felt it.

Yue Yaotai said, “Whatever it is, we can’t afford to offend either the Ghost Extreme Sect or the Ancestral Altar. The Emerald Beauty must be here. Finding it is our priority.”

Sha Lingshan turned, her silk fan fluttering, and smiled, “Let’s agree beforehand that we’ll retrieve the Emerald Beauty together, and then, after we leave, we’ll decide which faction will keep it. Although we’re all demonic cultivators, and breaking promises is common, this is a serious matter. Don’t betray our agreement.”

Xuan Feng Huanzhi said coldly, “We, the Black Lotus Realm, will honor our agreement. You should be more concerned about her,” glancing at Yue Yaotai.

Yue Yaotai sneered, “You? Honoring an agreement? The Ghost Extreme Sect must have possessed you.”

Xuan Feng Huanzhi glared at Yue Yaotai, her killing intent clear. Dragon Girl and Snake Charmer also gripped their weapons. The Moon Lotus Pavilion members glared back, refusing to yield.

Sha Lingshan stepped between them, her slender figure separating the two leaders, and said, waving her fan, “Let’s go down. We shouldn’t be fighting amongst ourselves before we even find the Emerald Beauty.”

“According to Grandmaster Shuiyue’s research, three hundred years ago, the ancestors of the Evil Lotus Sect built a Demonic Lotus Palace somewhere beneath Dragon Head Mountain. The Demon Empress’s poetic title mentions, ‘Fire tests the heavens, scorns celestial laws.’ Where the fire lotus blooms is the Demonic Lotus Palace. The question is, how do we find this sea of demonic fire?”

The Black Lotus Realm and Moon Lotus Pavilion members separated, wary of each other, searching the area.

A sea of flames burned at the bottom of the chasm, but it radiated no heat.

Upon closer inspection, the flames formed a giant lotus flower, its fiery petals unfolding around a central core.

The endless flames, constantly shifting and swirling, transformed the cavern into a demonic realm.

And amidst this sea of fire, a young woman, her mind consumed by rage, attacked her lover… the cruel, domineering, gentle, and mysterious young man.

“Is this the ‘Ghost Gate Opens, Flaunting in Public’ that Grandmaster Shuiyue mentioned?” a woman’s voice whispered from the shadows, “Is that black carriage carrying the ‘Flaunting Star’ divine crystal?”

The others exchanged glances. They all felt it.

Yue Yaotai said, “Whatever it is, we can’t afford to get involved. The Emerald Beauty must be here. Finding it is our priority.”

Sha Lingshan turned and smiled, waving her fan, “Let’s agree beforehand that we’ll retrieve the Emerald Beauty together, and then we’ll decide who keeps it. We’re all demonic cultivators, so breaking promises is normal, but this is important. Don’t betray our agreement.”

Xuan Feng Huanzhi said coldly, “The Black Lotus Realm will keep its word. You should be more worried about her,” glancing at Yue Yaotai.

Yue Yaotai sneered, “You? Keeping your word? The Ghost Extreme Sect must have possessed you.”

Xuan Feng Huanzhi glared at Yue Yaotai, her killing intent palpable. Dragon Girl and Snake Charmer gripped their weapons. The Moon Lotus Pavilion members glared back, their hostility evident.

Sha Lingshan stepped between them, waving her fan, “Let’s go down. We shouldn’t be fighting before we even find the Emerald Beauty.”

  • I, The Man Who’ll Conquer Both the Immortal Venerable and the Demon Empress 109

Chapter 109: Pipa’s Song on the Battlefield

The moment the pipa music started, Yang Ji, the Hundred Poisonous Mysterious Insects, and Fu Xiongtu, the Whirlwind Wolf Fang, felt a wave of disorienting noise wash over them, the air itself seeming to ripple and distort.

The martial artists around them screamed, clutching their heads. The giant python beneath Yang Ji thrashed wildly, its mouth foaming, forcing him to jump clear.

Venomous snakes emerged from the gutters and walls, writhing and twisting before dying with a hiss.

Martial artists screamed and writhed on the ground, as if trapped in hell, their agony as intense as being burned alive.

Yang Ji and Fu Xiongtu were both mid-rank experts, seasoned veterans of countless battles, but now, they staggered, clutching their heads, as if needles were piercing their brains.

Their vision blurred, their minds reeling.

The pipa’s sound waves, like a physical force, spread outwards in a fan shape, washing over them.

Although the soldiers behind the girl in the flower dress weren’t directly in the path of the pipa’s attack, the noise still caused them immense pain.

A grating, scraping sound, like a knife against stone, assaulted their eardrums, their heads throbbing, as if about to explode.

The girl played with abandon, her fingers moving across the strings without any discernible rhythm or melody… She was clearly not a skilled musician.

Yet, at this moment, she was like a renowned virtuoso, giving a command performance, her music, although discordant and chaotic, incredibly powerful.

The distorted music, amplified by the jade pipa, invaded their minds.

The Shark Dragon Gang members caught in the direct path of the sound waves writhed on the ground.

Fu Xiongtu roared, trying to leap towards her and attack, but halfway through his jump, the unbearable pain forced him back down, screaming.

Yang Ji’s carefully trained python, its head slamming repeatedly against a wall, blood streaming from its wounds, thrashed its tail and died.

Some martial artists, realizing this was a way to escape the unbearable noise, also began bashing their heads against the walls, their skulls splitting open like melons.

Even the stone walls crumbled under their desperate assault.

The fan-shaped wave of sound plunged the entire area into chaos.

Even those outside the direct path of the attack stumbled and staggered. This music truly belonged in hell.

The Shark Dragon Gang’s forces were devastated. Even the soldiers on Yue Ya’er’s side were affected, desperate to escape the battlefield and find some peace and quiet.

At least a hundred Shark Dragon Gang members were caught in the sonic attack, as if hell itself had descended upon them under the darkening sky.

    —Magical Weapon: Pipa Lock

—Containing the High-Rank Divine Crystal: Dhṛtarāṣṭra

What’s that sound? Shi Hao turned and looked towards the distant battlefield.

Hearing pipa music on a battlefield was strange enough, but the melody was also incredibly… unpleasant.

He didn’t know who was playing, but he had no desire to find out.

A booming sound, like a thunderclap, echoed from Dragon Head Mountain.

It felt as if a volcano had erupted from within the mountain, while simultaneously, a thunderbolt had struck from the sky.

Two powerful forces collided at the mountain’s peak, and with an earth-shattering roar, the mountain split apart, a gaping chasm appearing between the two halves, bathed in a mysterious light.

The fighting stopped as both sides stared at the incredible sight.

On the watchtower, the girl in the flower dress also stopped playing, looking towards Dragon Head Mountain.

As the mountain split, the surrounding buildings, as if squeezed by some unseen force, warped and collapsed.

“What’s happening?” she whispered, her eyes wide.

She had only been told to defend Dragon Head Mountain tonight, the reason unknown.

Suddenly, a voice shouted in the distance, “There’s a treasure inside Dragon Head Mountain! The gang leader said whoever finds it can keep it! Charge!”

The word “treasure” was always a powerful motivator in the martial world.

And this explained why their leader had ordered them to attack Dragon Head Mountain… there was treasure inside!

The Shark Dragon Gang members, their fighting spirit renewed, their eyes bloodshot, charged towards the chasm.

“Heh, treasure? Fools,” Grandmother Ba, standing on the mountaintop, leaning on her staff, her back hunched, looked at the chasm and chuckled.

There was no treasure here, but something far more important.

“Let’s descend,” she said, sitting down in a bamboo palanquin.

Four women lifted the palanquin and carried her down the mountain.

A woman in black followed, floating gracefully behind them.

Shi Hao stared at Dragon Head Mountain, his mouth agape.

He had expected something big to happen tonight, but this was beyond anything he could have imagined.

An entire mountain, split in two?

He saw the swirling red clouds above the mountain being drawn towards the chasm, as if by a powerful vacuum.

The mysterious light that had enveloped the mountain also converged on the chasm.

This sight convinced even more people that there was treasure inside. Martial artists from other sects, who had been watching from the sidelines, now rushed towards the mountain, hoping to claim a share.

Shi Hao looked down and saw the Emerald Beauty again.

It sat on a tree, facing him.

Its small figure, as the light from Dragon Head Mountain faded, was swallowed by the darkness.

Suddenly, it jumped and disappeared into a well.

Shi Hao rushed over, grabbed the edge of the well, and looked down.

    It was dark.

Looking around, he saw this was a deserted area, the well dry and overgrown with weeds, clearly abandoned.

He gritted his teeth and jumped in… He didn’t believe the Emerald Beauty had led him here to die.

Landing at the bottom, he generated a demonic flame, his hand outstretched.

He saw a passage leading towards Dragon Head Mountain.

He touched the edge of the passage entrance. The rough, uneven surface indicated that a stone wall had recently been removed.

He entered the passage. Logically, the changes in Dragon Head Mountain should have affected the surrounding area.

But this passage was intact, as if designed to withstand such changes.

He followed the winding passage, reaching a large, open space.

He found himself in a mysterious hall, its walls covered in menacing images.

Lamps, burning with different colored oils, stood in the four corners, their flames flickering, casting strange shadows on the walls, making the figures seem to writhe and shift, as if about to come alive.

Shi Hao estimated the passage’s length and direction… He must be beneath Dragon Head Mountain.

He wondered if those who had died trying to reach the mountain would be enraged to learn of this secret passage.

He continued through the hall, passing several similar chambers, and arrived at a stone bridge.

Sheer cliffs rose on either side, and molten lava flowed beneath the bridge. A golden light, radiating a mysterious aura, streamed down from above, swirling around him.

He felt his Daoist and demonic energies surging, stimulated by the golden light.

On the other side of the bridge, Du Yuejiao stood, holding a sword.

And beside her, tied to a wooden frame, Xu Xiaoyan hung suspended in the air.

As Shi Hao approached, Du Yuejiao walked towards him. He said solemnly, “Yuejiao, let her go. She has nothing to do with this.”

Du Yuejiao looked at him, a sad smile on her face, “Brother Shi, I thought you liked that ugly girl. I was wrong. Do you like her because she’s more beautiful than me?”

Shi Hao shook his head, “No, you’re also beautiful.” He paused, then added, “You’re both beautiful.”

Du Yuejiao lowered her head, “Really? You think I’m beautiful? Then why did you… do that to me?”

Shi Hao looked at her. The golden light, like a swirling storm, poured into her, a powerful demonic energy radiating outwards, its killing intent palpable, making him frown.

As a Daoist cultivator, she shouldn’t have such a strong demonic aura.

He asked, “Where’s the Emerald Beauty?”

“Brother Shi, I had a dream,” she said, her voice filled with sorrow, her demonic aura and killing intent swirling around her, “I dreamt that you were the one who imprisoned me. You poured snakes on me, you tortured me with those strange little tools, you tied me to that… that rack…”

She slowly raised her head, tears of blood streaming from her eyes, “I told myself it was just a dream, that the villain who hurt me couldn’t be the same Brother Shi who saved me. The one who imprisoned me in that brothel couldn’t be the kind and gentle Brother Shi I knew.”

A flicker of warmth appeared in her bloodshot eyes, and a sudden smile softened her menacing aura, making her appear strangely vulnerable, “Brother Shi, tell me… it wasn’t you, was it?”

  • I, The Man Who’ll Conquer Both the Immortal Venerable and the Demon Empress 108

Chapter 108: Full Moon, Pipa’s Song

Shi Hao said, “Don’t worry, I’ll bring her back.” He turned and left.

Zhuo Mulan called after him, but he didn’t look back, his swift departure increasing her anxiety.

Shi Hao, his sword at his waist, used his movement techniques, leaping across rooftops, heading towards Dragon Head Mountain.

It was dusk. A menacing aura hung over the mountain, and shouts echoed in the distance.

Large numbers of martial artists were converging on Dragon Head Mountain. Although still far away, the scent of blood was already in the air.

The ground trembled again, shaking the nearby buildings.

    This wasn’t an ordinary battle.

Shi Hao frowned and climbed onto a nearby rooftop.

A tall brothel, its roof far higher than the surrounding buildings, offered a good vantage point.

He scaled the wall, reaching the pointed roof.

Looking towards Dragon Head Mountain, he saw people, like a surging tide, converging on the mountain from all directions.

The entire mountain seemed to be shaking, the tremors emanating from its depths.

Despite the tremors, the sounds of fighting, and the darkening sky, people remained hidden inside their homes, afraid to venture out.

The setting sun, blood-red, cast an eerie glow over the land.

Numerous figures leaped across the rooftops.

At the foot of Dragon Head Mountain, blades flashed, weapons clashed, walls crumbled, buildings collapsed, and explosions echoed as powerful martial artists battled, the kind of destruction only fifth-rank experts and above could cause.

The tremors intensified, the light of the setting sun seemingly drawn towards the mountain, its peak glowing with a mysterious light, while the surrounding area grew darker.

Shi Hao saw swirling red clouds above Dragon Head Mountain.

He touched the Jade Clarity Stone in his robe.

It wasn’t dark yet, and the full moon hadn’t risen.

He looked down and saw a small figure on the wall.

The doll, pristine and beautiful, stood there, its black gemstone eyes gleaming with a cold, sinister light.

    It was looking at him.

Yuejiao took Xiaoyan, he thought, but he knew that in terms of strength, Yuejiao was weaker than Xu Xiaoyan.

With Xiaoyan’s resourcefulness and the Void Traversing Brick, Yuejiao couldn’t have captured her… unless the Emerald Beauty was involved.

Shi Hao leaped down from the roof, his voice, sharp and clear like a hawk’s cry, echoing through the air.

The Emerald Beauty, however, had already turned and flown away, its rainbow robe fluttering behind it.

Although he knew it was alive, seeing the small doll flying before him was still a strangely unsettling sight.

    He gave chase.

The Emerald Beauty flew through a group of martial artists.

    “Who are you?” someone shouted.

Shi Hao ignored them. Two sabers slashed at him from both sides.

He quickly drew his sword, disguised as a wooden stick, and with two swift strikes, deflected the attacks, sending the attackers stumbling backwards. One dropped his saber, while the other’s blade snapped in two.

Shi Hao ran past them, glancing at the sword in his hand.

Daoist Tie Yu’s craftsmanship was indeed impressive. Even the scabbard was made of solid iron. It had deflected two saber strikes without a scratch.

This was exactly what he wanted. Sheathed, it looked like an ordinary iron rod, its true nature concealed.

But unsheathed, it was a high-quality sword!

He continued pursuing the Emerald Beauty, noticing the surrounding area growing darker, while Dragon Head Mountain seemed to be glowing.

He realized it wasn’t the setting sun’s light being absorbed by the mountain, but the sun had already set, and the mountain itself was emitting light.

As darkness fell, and Dragon Head Mountain glowed brighter, it created an illusion that the mountain was drawing all the light towards it.

But why was it glowing? What were the Ancestral Altar and the Ghost Extreme Sect fighting over? And why was the Emerald Beauty leading him here?

He touched the Jade Clarity Stone in his robe, his mind filled with unanswered questions.

A woman in red, leading a detachment of soldiers, guarded a main road leading to Dragon Head Mountain.

Her name was Jing Wuxia, a fifth-rank expert. Kelian, Yue Ya’er’s current bodyguard, was her junior sister.

She was tall but not bulky, her build athletic.

She wielded a large, heavy saber with a thick spine and a long, curved blade.

    Her imposing figure radiated power.

Numerous corpses, dismembered and mangled, lay around her.

Two men approached. One was short, riding a giant python that slithered across the ground. The other was tall and burly, wielding a spiked club.

They were Yang Ji, the “Hundred Poisonous Mysterious Insects,” and Fu Xiongtu, the “Whirlwind Wolf Fang,” two of the Shark Dragon Gang’s Four Dragon Serpent Generals.

“The Ancestral Altar has been hiding their strength. I didn’t expect them to have such a skilled warrior,” Yang Ji said, looking at the corpses, his eyes glinting.

A swarm of venomous snakes emerged from the surrounding area, slithering towards Jing Wuxia.

Jing Wuxia laughed, “In the Ancestral Altar, I’m nothing special!”

She swung her saber, its energy splitting into six arcs, like a fan, scattering the snakes.

The snakes exploded, their bodies dissolving into poisonous gas.

The giant python beneath Yang Ji inhaled the gas, then spewed it towards Jing Wuxia.

A cloud of black, poisonous gas enveloped her.

Several soldiers around her collapsed, their bodies dissolving into bloody puddles.

Jing Wuxia snorted, her saber flashing, waves of energy dispersing the poisonous mist.

At the same time, Fu Xiongtu, wielding his spiked club, created a whirlwind, carrying the poisonous gas towards Jing Wuxia.

Having taken an antidote, Fu Xiongtu was immune to the poison. The whirlwind, now a swirling vortex of toxic gas, struck Jing Wuxia with a resounding boom, sending a shockwave of dust and debris outwards.

Behind Jing Wuxia, many soldiers were either killed by the force of the impact or collapsed, convulsing, after inhaling the poison.

Yang Ji and Fu Xiongtu were both sixth-rank, but their combined attack was formidable. Jing Wuxia, struggling to breathe in the poisonous mist, clashed with Fu Xiongtu.

Their strength was immense, their weapons clashing, sparks flying, buildings collapsing around them.

Although Jing Wuxia was stronger, the poison hampered her movements, preventing her from using her full power. She was forced to retreat.

Yang Ji’s python lunged at her, its jaws wide open.

Behind them, more Shark Dragon Gang members, having also taken the antidote, charged forward, using the cover of the poisonous mist.

Jing Wuxia, unable to fight back, deflected Fu Xiongtu’s spiked club with a powerful saber strike and fled.

The defensive line had been breached.

From her position on a watchtower, Yue Ya’er whispered, “I told you she couldn’t hold them. She’s too conspicuous, her movements too flashy, practically inviting them to attack her.

“Fifth-rank? So what? She only has brute strength. No special abilities or techniques. Against a prepared enemy, even brute force is useless.”

She chattered on, while Kelian, standing beside her with her large sword on her back, remained silent… She wouldn’t criticize her senior sister.

As Jing Wuxia retreated, she suddenly turned and unleashed a powerful saber strike, a wall of force erupting outwards.

Boom! The spiked club struck the wall of force, its momentum halted. Even Fu Xiongtu, the Whirlwind Wolf Fang, was pushed back.

But before Jing Wuxia could press her advantage, another wave of poisonous gas enveloped her, forcing her to defend herself. Fu Xiongtu, regaining his footing, attacked again, and she was forced to retreat once more, her strength useless against the poison.

More Shark Dragon Gang members poured through the breach, like a flood.

Seeing the defensive line collapsing, Yue Ya’er said excitedly, “It’s my turn!”

As a member of the Ancestral Altar, she had received some training.

But her skills weren’t exceptional. However, she possessed a powerful magical weapon.

And with her status, she rarely had the opportunity to use it, which she found somewhat frustrating.

“Protect me, Sister Kelian!” She climbed onto the railing of the watchtower and took out an object from her waist.

With a flick of her wrist, a flash of light, and a jade pipa appeared in her hand.

She placed the pipa on her lap, her left hand holding the neck, her right hand cradling the body, her fingers resting on the strings. She took a deep breath.

Behind her, Kelian discreetly tore off two pieces of cloth and stuffed them into her ears. She looked down at the warriors hidden below, wondering if she should warn them.

Fu Xiongtu looked up and saw the girl in the colorful dress sitting on the watchtower.

It was hard to miss her. A beautiful young woman, amidst the chaos of battle, sitting on high ground, holding a jade pipa, about to play a song…

She was like a delicate flower blooming amidst a storm.

Following his gaze, Jing Wuxia also looked back and saw Yue Ya’er.

She suddenly screamed, turned, and fled, covering her ears… She hadn’t run so fast even when she was being pushed back earlier.

The approaching Shark Dragon Gang members also looked at the smiling girl in confusion.

Under their gazes, Yue Ya’er gently plucked a string.

The pipa’s music began, and chaos erupted—

  • I, The Man Who’ll Conquer Both the Immortal Venerable and the Demon Empress 107

    Chapter 107: “You Are Mine!”

The three immortal ingredients, along with the Illusory Sea Spirit Fruit he already possessed, completed the four main ingredients required for Shi Hao’s next breakthrough.

He couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for Floating Cloud Monastery. A once-renowned Daoist sect, now denied access to immortal ingredients simply for refusing to submit to the Chongxian Sect.

And he had easily obtained the ingredients he needed just because he had “connections” within the Chongxian Sect.

While the ingredients for fourth and fifth-rank elixirs were rare and difficult to obtain, those for lower ranks were plentiful within the Chongxian Sect.

The Chongxian Sect’s dominance, besides the barbarian court’s backing, was maintained through their monopoly on these ingredients.

Shi Hao examined his cultivation. Almost a month had passed since his last visit to the Primordial Grotto Heaven.

His Gathering Essence Flowing Pearl Technique and Unfettered Demon’s Boundless Art had both improved significantly.

As long as he maintained the balance between them, letting them clash and reinforce each other, he could cultivate continuously.

However, he hadn’t reached their peak yet.

He estimated it would take another ten days or so.

He definitely wouldn’t achieve it by tomorrow.

Of course, his progress was already astonishing.

He had also been spending some time circulating his Daoist and demonic energies in opposite directions, trying to generate more of that mysterious Primordial Energy.

But the results had been limited.

Letting the two energies flow naturally, maintaining a delicate balance, allowed for steady progress.

But forcing them to clash directly exhausted him within half an hour, hindering his cultivation, even risking damage to his meridians.

Yet, the Primordial Energy could only be generated through this conflict.

He mentally reviewed the ingredients he still needed for his next demonic advancement: the blood of an Undying Child and a matricide’s heart.

He still had no idea where to find a matricide’s heart. As for the Undying Child’s blood, it seemed his only option was Blood Shadow Undying Child.

Since the Blood Child Rebellion decades ago, the demonic sects had stopped training Undying Children. And he couldn’t bring himself to learn the Blood Erosion Technique, abduct a child, train him, and then take his blood.

Although such methods were common in the demonic sects, he couldn’t do it.

He thought that tomorrow night might be an opportunity to kill Blood Shadow Undying Child… Of course, it wouldn’t be easy.

Blood Shadow was a skilled assassin, adept at stealth, and Shi Hao didn’t have enough information to set a trap.

Regardless, his progress in gathering the ingredients had exceeded his expectations.

He embraced the beautiful Daoist nun and, using the Butterfly Flower Finger, expressed his gratitude.

The Daoist nun, having abandoned all restraint, found immense pleasure in his embrace and willingly reciprocated.

And strangely, they found themselves in Yuejiao’s room again…

Leaving the Chongxian Sect’s main temple, Shi Hao walked alone through the streets of Dàxīng City.

The almost full moon bathed the city in its silvery light, giving the buildings an ethereal, dreamlike quality.

Candles flickered in some alleys, paper money burned, and lotus lanterns drifted down the river.

The fifteenth day of the seventh month had been a traditional ancestor worship festival since ancient times, evolving into the “Ghost Festival” a thousand years ago with the rise of Daoism.

Daoists called it the Zhongyuan Festival. According to Daoist scriptures, the Heavenly Official, Earthly Official, and Human Official, collectively known as the “Three Officials Great Emperor,” governed the world.

The Earthly Official ruled the underworld, and on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, the gates of hell opened, allowing the spirits of the dead to return to the world of the living, visiting their families or wandering freely… This was the origin of the Ghost Festival.

However, in the south, it was celebrated on the fourteenth, while in the north, on the fifteenth.

In Dàxīng City, the Ghost Festival was on the fifteenth, but some people had already begun their observances, lighting candles and releasing lotus lanterns.

Shi Hao returned to Floating Cloud Monastery and entered his room in the west wing.

He wrapped the Molting Snake Reverse Scale, the Tri-colored Qilin Grass, the Carriage Horse Mushroom, and the Illusory Sea Spirit Fruit in a cloth and hid them in a compartment above the rafters.

The Daoists in the monastery treated him with respect, so he wasn’t worried about them snooping around. But there were many children, and these immortal ingredients were incredibly valuable outside the Chongxian Sect.

He then hid the Heroic Deeds Blade under his mattress, lay down, and closed his eyes.

Moonlight streamed through the window, painting the windowsill silver.

The energies of the Gathering Essence Flowing Pearl Technique and the Unfettered Demon’s Boundless Art continued to circulate within him, slowly but steadily increasing.

    He slept peacefully, undisturbed.

The next morning, after a walk around the monastery, he still hadn’t seen Xu Xiaoyan.

He was starting to get worried… She should have returned by now.

He hadn’t been concerned initially. After all, she was resourceful and had the Void Traversing Brick, allowing her to escape instantly.

Although it could only be used once a day, its ability to transport her several li in any direction was a powerful escape tool.

But she should have returned yesterday. Even with delays, she should have arrived by now.

    He couldn’t shake his unease.

He quickly considered the possibilities. The Ghost Extreme Sect was likely too preoccupied to bother with her now.

If she had encountered trouble, it was most likely the three Evil Lotus factions.

That afternoon, he went to Calabash Alley to gather information from Dark Thunder. Zhu Zheng, looking harried, hurried over, “Brother Hao, as you suspected, the Ghost Extreme Sect and the Shark Dragon Gang seem to be colluding.

“The Shark Dragon Gang is mobilizing their forces and preparing to attack Dragon Head Mountain. A large number of Ghost Extreme Sect experts are also hidden in Dàxīng City, under the Shark Dragon Gang’s protection. And the Ancestral Altar has deployed troops, surrounding Dragon Head Mountain. A major battle is imminent.”

Shi Hao asked, “Do you know what’s on Dragon Head Mountain that’s worth fighting over?”

Zhu Zheng shook his head, “We’re not sure. The Ancestral Altar is usually based in the capital. We don’t know why Grandmother Ba is here, guarding Dragon Head Mountain.”

He paused, then added, “Perhaps they’re not ‘guarding’ it. We know the Ancestral Altar has brought many craftsmen to Dragon Head Mountain, but with all the soldiers surrounding it, we don’t know what they’re doing.”

Shi Hao asked, “What kind of reward could motivate them to such lengths?”

Zhu Zheng pondered for a moment and sighed, “I’m not sure. Perhaps a Divine Ruin containing a supreme-grade divine crystal appeared on Dragon Head Mountain? Or maybe some powerful artifact? But even so, it’s strange that the Ancestral Altar is involved.”

“We’ll continue to investigate, but we don’t have any more information at this time. And besides…”

Shi Hao said, “And from Dark Thunder’s perspective, it doesn’t matter who wins between the Ancestral Altar and the Ghost Extreme Sect. In fact, it would be best if they both suffered heavy losses.”

Zhu Zheng smiled, “Indeed. The Ghost Extreme Sect obtained a God-Sealing Stone at Civilian Martial Ridge. They must have some plan for it. And the Ancestral Altar is directly under the command of the Supreme Emperor Lie Zunyi. Only matters he doesn’t trust even the four great families with are assigned to them. With those two fighting, we’ll just watch from the sidelines.”

“Of course, we’ll try to understand their motives. If the situation escalates, we might intervene. But for now, both the Ghost Extreme Sect and the Shark Dragon Gang are fully committed, and the Ancestral Altar has mobilized a large number of troops. There’s not much we can do. And without knowing the truth, intervening would only drag us into unnecessary conflict.”

    Shi Hao nodded…

Leaving Calabash Alley, Shi Hao returned to Floating Cloud Monastery. Entering his room, he froze.

A wooden stick, a flower, and a piece of paper lay on the table.

The stick looked ordinary and unremarkable.

The flower, with five petals, was actually a hairpin.

Shi Hao rushed to the table, recognizing the hairpin… It was Xu Xiaoyan’s.

She always wore it in her hair when disguised as Night Lily.

He picked up the wooden stick, twisted it, and pulled out a sword.

The blade, narrow and thin, gleamed coldly. Sheathed within the wooden handle, it looked like an ordinary stick, easily concealed.

This was clearly the sword forged by Daoist Tie Yu. He had only requested a sword that could be easily hidden, its true nature concealed.

The paper, small and folded, contained four characters written in blood: “You are mine!”

Shi Hao frowned. He sheathed the sword, grabbed the hairpin and the note, and quickly left Floating Cloud Monastery.

As he hurried towards Mount Qian Yuan, an explosion echoed from the north, the ground trembling beneath his feet.

People in the streets, thinking it was an earthquake, panicked, some running, others crying.

Shi Hao glanced north… towards Dragon Head Mountain.

He reached the Chongxian Sect’s main temple and found Zhuo Mulan. He unfolded the note and asked, “Is this Yuejiao’s handwriting?”

Zhuo Mulan, looking at the blood-written characters, her face paling, said, surprised, “It is her handwriting. What happened?”

  • I, The Man Who’ll Conquer Both the Immortal Venerable and the Demon Empress 106

Chapter 106: The Tides of History, Eve of the Full Moon

Zhu Zheng looked incredulous, “The demonic sects? Beliefs?”

It was understandable. The demonic sects were known for their selfishness and ruthlessness, making it difficult to associate them with concepts like “beliefs.”

Shi Hao stood up, “It’s just a guess. There’s no evidence of collusion between the Ghost Extreme Sect and the Shark Dragon Gang yet. But please be vigilant, especially on the night of the full moon. Something is going to happen on Dragon Head Mountain.”

Zhu Zheng nodded, “We’ll keep an eye on it. If it threatens the safety of the people, Dark Thunder will not stand idly by.”

    Shi Hao said, “Thank you.”

Zhu Zheng said, “We’re all fighting for the same cause, Brother Hao. There’s no need for formalities. If you need our help, just come here, or if it’s urgent, you can contact the old man in Calabash Alley directly.”

He personally escorted Shi Hao out.

The day before the full moon, Shi Hao went to “The Dregs.”

He bought a copy of the latest news bulletin and sat down in a corner, reading through it.

The bulletin was much thicker than the last one, indicating the increasing chaos in and around Dàxīng City.

The Ascending Heroes Gang had dealt a heavy blow to the Mystic Virtue Society and the White Sword Society, but they had also underestimated their opponents’ tenacity and suffered heavy losses themselves, losing at least three sixth-rank martial artists, a fifth-rank expert severely injured, and countless lower-ranking members.

Although on the verge of collapse, the Mystic Virtue Society and the White Sword Society refused to yield. However, even if they survived, they would likely lose their positions among the three gangs and six societies.

The Ascending Heroes Gang seemed to have reached a stalemate. If they didn’t continue their attack, their previous efforts would be wasted, but continuing the assault would be a protracted and costly battle, the remaining members of the Mystic Virtue Society and the White Sword Society fighting with the desperation of cornered beasts.

And some righteous martial artists, despite the danger, were joining the Mystic Virtue Society and the White Sword Society, further complicating the situation for the Ascending Heroes Gang.

The bulletin also listed numerous other conflicts and killings within the martial world, each entry a brief but bloody tale.

The Heaven and Earth Gang, however, remained unusually quiet, like a ghost, despite being one of the three gangs.

The Brocade Dragon Gate was relatively peaceful. Being more of a trade association than a martial arts gang, although there were occasional conflicts, they were minor incidents.

And the Divine Eagle Sect, which had only recently earned a place among the three gangs and six societies, had already been eliminated.

Shi Hao remembered Chen Yan’er had mentioned two of the six societies she couldn’t recall. The Divine Eagle Sect was one of them.

The bulletin focused on events in and around Dàxīng City. However, the main topic of discussion among those present was the situation in the Changbai Mountains… the outcome everyone had anticipated.

The rebel army had been crushed.

It had been a brutal battle. The rebel forces in the Changbai Mountains, under attack from the overwhelming might of the barbarian army, had suffered heavy casualties. Fu Shiyuan, severely injured, had barely escaped with a small group of followers, retreating towards Liaodong.

The rebellion had collapsed, the battlefield strewn with corpses, rivers of blood flowing.

Small groups of rebels had scattered, fleeing in all directions, spreading their influence as they went.

Although many had hoped for a different outcome, this result had been inevitable… A dying beast was still dangerous. The barbarian army, despite its decline, was still too powerful for a single rebel force to overcome.

And the first to rise up always faced the brunt of the enemy’s wrath. The barbarian court, determined to crush the rebellion, had sent their most powerful warriors.

But on the other hand, inspired by Fu Shiyuan’s defiance, uprisings had erupted across the land. Although none were as large or as powerful as the Changbai Mountain rebellion, easily suppressed by the barbarian army, they were numerous and persistent, like a rising tide, an unstoppable force of history.

The barbarian court would be forced to fight on multiple fronts, the flames of rebellion spreading, engulfing the land in chaos.

Shi Hao finished reading the bulletin and listened to the discussions around him.

Being “The Dregs,” a gathering place for lower-ranking martial artists, the conversations were unrestrained and often blunt.

Some were even openly discussing the barbarian court’s imminent collapse.

After listening for a while, he put down the bulletin and left.

Yue Ya’er paid Shi Hao for his services as her bodyguard.

Although they had initially agreed he would protect her until after the full moon, she was leaving the Jade Flower Courtyard tonight, moving to the palace at the foot of Dragon Head Mountain with her troops.

Grandmother Ba had apparently assigned her a new task.

She wasn’t even bringing the Thunderclap Eighteen Riders, who were technically her brother’s personal guards, loyal to the Yue Ke Tai family.

Her new bodyguard was the woman named Kelian, the one with the two-handed sword.

Although his service hadn’t ended yet, Yue Ya’er, true to her generous nature, paid him for sixteen days.

Eight hundred taels of silver… Shi Hao had never possessed such wealth.

For him, it was a fortune, but for Yue Ya’er, it was a trivial amount.

As expected of a wealthy young lady.

He hadn’t actually done much these past few days, just watched her bathe from behind a screen and slept on a bedroll beside her bed at night.

Although technically her bodyguard, after the assassination attempt, security at the Jade Flower Courtyard had been tightened, and the Ghost Extreme Sect, having targeted her because they feared her investigation into the Leopard Gate, no longer had a reason to kill her, with the Leopard Gate gone.

Shi Hao had never earned money so easily. Being close to a wealthy patron was indeed a lucrative career path.

“Dàxīng City might become dangerous tomorrow,” Yue Ya’er said to him before leaving, her expression serious. “For your own safety, it’s best you leave the city.”

Shi Hao nodded, “Take care, Miss.”

Yue Ya’er smiled, “Just call me Yue Ya’er.” She turned and waved, “Leave the city and come back in a few days.”

Outside the courtyard, a detachment of troops awaited her. Although only about a thousand men, Shi Hao noticed at least a dozen commanders and over two hundred lieutenants among them, the rest elite warriors.

These were the best of the best, chosen from tens of thousands.

Shi Hao left the Jade Flower Courtyard. It was almost evening.

He went to the Chongxian Sect’s main temple in Dàxīng City and entered through the open gates.

As evening approached, visitors were leaving the temple.

He entered the magnificent Daoist temple and was stopped as he tried to reach the inner compound through a side entrance.

“I’m looking for Recluse Zhuo,” he said.

A young acolyte went to inform her, and soon, Zhuo Mulan emerged and led him inside.

“Security seems tighter than last time, but there are fewer people,” Shi Hao observed as they walked.

Zhuo Mulan said, “The sect is abandoning this temple. They’ll only leave a small number of people here to maintain it as a… tourist attraction.”

Shi Hao asked, surprised, “The Chongxian Sect is abandoning Dàxīng City? Why?”

Zhuo Mulan whispered, “I’m not sure. It seems they’re consolidating their forces in the south. Many of their northern branches are being recalled.”

Shi Hao’s mind raced, and he began to understand the Chongxian Sect’s intentions.

Their decision to keep the God-Sealing Stone they had recovered a secret already indicated a rift between them and the barbarian court. The Chongxian Sect leadership wasn’t foolish. Although they had risen to prominence by aligning themselves with the barbarian court, they could see the court’s decline and were clearly preparing for the future.

Concentrating their forces in the south allowed them to avoid direct confrontation with the barbarian court and also positioned them to take advantage of the coming chaos.

They reached the pavilion with the phoenix statues. The beautiful Daoist nun threw herself into his arms, her breath catching in her throat.

Shi Hao used the Butterfly Flower Finger to bring her pleasure, then lifted her into his arms. This time, however, they didn’t go to Yuejiao’s room.

After their intimacy, the Daoist nun, nestled in the arms of her disciple’s lover, a man almost ten years younger than her, whispered, “Do you have any news about Yuejiao?”

Shi Hao held her close, his touch gentle, “Don’t worry, I have a lead. I’ll bring her back tomorrow night.”

“And here are the immortal ingredients you asked for.” Zhuo Mulan got up, reached into a cabinet by the bed, and handed him three items, then self-consciously pulled the covers over herself.

Shi Hao opened the three boxes.

A translucent green scale, about the size of his palm, its edges sharp as a blade.

A strange herb with red, blue, and purple leaves, radiating a faint light.

A lingzhi mushroom shaped like a child sitting in a carriage, which, after he opened the box, scurried around inside.
