    Chapter 4

Xu Jinnan had just reached Shen Shu’s ward when she saw a small group gathered outside, a nurse attempting to disperse them. Her heart sank. She hurried forward, asking, “What’s happening?”

    “Miss Xu… your wife…”

Before the nurse could finish, Xu Jinnan heard a man’s voice from inside: “Seriously? I just came to visit Nan-jie’s new wife, my sister-in-law. What’s the big deal?”

“Visit?” Cai Ying said coldly. “When I came in, what was in your hand? Do you dare show everyone?”

Xu Jinnan didn’t wait to hear more. She glanced back at the gawking Omegas at the door, disgust twisting her features. “Get lost.”

Xu Jinnan’s reputation was well-known in North City. No one dared to cross her. Mumbling apologies, they retreated to their rooms.

The man inside seemed to recognize Xu Jinnan’s voice and called out, “Nan-jie, you’re here! You know me. You have to get me justice!”

The room fell silent as Xu Jinnan entered.

Ignoring him, Xu Jinnan looked first at Shen Shu, whom Cai Ying was shielding. Shen Shu’s knuckles were white, her face pale, her body trembling despite her efforts to control it.

A wave of foreboding washed over Xu Jinnan. She frowned and asked, “Are you hurt?”

Shen Shu responded with a glare filled with loathing.

“Does someone have to bleed to be considered hurt?! If I hadn’t come in sooner, who knows what would have happened?” Cai Ying, pampered from a young age, was furious. In her anger, she forgot to be intimidated by Xu Jinnan.

Xu Jinnan froze, struck by her words.

Cai Ying was right. The emotional wounds inflicted on Shen Shu were far deeper than any physical injury. But the words also brought a sliver of relief.

Xu Jinnan turned to the man, her voice ice cold. “Show me what you have.”

Recognizing the dyed blond hair, she recalled his identity: Chen Bo, an Alpha, the only son of some company CEO.

Scum who ran with the original Xu Jinnan.

Chen Bo, assuming Xu Jinnan was joking around as usual, grinned and opened his hand. “See? Just regular candy. I was going to ask sister-in-law if she wanted some, but she freaked out.”

Xu Jinnan’s face remained impassive. “Then eat one. Let me see.”

“Eat it… Nan-jie, what are you saying?” Chen Bo lowered his voice, a smirk playing on his lips. “I can’t eat something meant to make an Omega go into heat.”

Xu Jinnan’s eyes narrowed, her fury reaching its peak. He dared to be this brazen in a hospital, not only due to his family background, but also because of the original Xu Jinnan’s tacit approval.

Just like last night, the original Xu Jinnan had given Chen Bo the code to their new home, inviting him in.

It had sent Chen Bo a clear message – Shen Shu was fair game.

Xu Jinnan remained silent. Chen Bo, thinking she hadn’t seen clearly, continued, “It’s just hangover candy, the kind you gave me…”

    Slap!

    Everyone in the room froze.

The sudden slap stunned Chen Bo. After a few seconds, he sputtered, “What the fuck? Xu Jinnan?!”

Xu Jinnan snatched the box of candy from his hand. “I’ll shove this entire box down your throat if you try anything like this again. Now get out.” She decided against using the original’s vulgar language given the setting and Shen Shu’s presence.

Chen Bo gaped, unable to form a coherent sentence.

He’d never encountered Xu Jinnan’s Alpha pheromones, but he’d assumed she was a weak Alpha. Otherwise, with her arrogant personality and a strong scent, she would have dominated every Omega in North City.

He wasn’t truly afraid of her, only tolerant because of her family background.

But that slap… it wasn’t that he didn’t have time to react. It was the sheer overwhelming suppression that paralyzed him. She wasn’t weak. She was stronger than him.

He stumbled out, the fear of suppression clinging to him. It wasn’t until he left the hospital that the shock wore off. Something was wrong. What the hell had just happened? Xu Jinnan had hit him, for an Omega?

As soon as Chen Bo left, Shen Shu collapsed, overwhelmed by the ordeal and her weakened state.

The room buzzed with activity. Xu Jinnan stood by the door, watching Shen Shu on the bed, her heart heavy. She took a few steps closer, but Shen Shu turned her head away, refusing even to look at her.

Xu Jinnan stopped. After everything that had happened, she couldn’t find the right words to explain or comfort. Finally, she whispered, “…I’m sorry.”

    Shen Shu closed her eyes.

“I’ll leave if you don’t want to see me. Rest well.” Xu Jinnan touched the Omega blood test report in her pocket. Now wasn’t the time.

She desperately wanted to tell Shen Shu that this wouldn’t happen again, but the words wouldn’t come.

    Actions spoke louder than words.

Xu Jinnan looked at the wary Cai Ying, her voice soft. “Thank you for taking care of her.”

Without hesitation, Cai Ying retorted, “Look who put her in this state. Don’t be a hypocrite. And you don’t need to thank me.”

Xu Jinnan paused, then left the room without a word. After reminding the nurse to ensure Shen Shu’s safety, she bypassed the elevator, taking the stairs to the roof. She sat down, needing to figure out her next move.

A cigarette would be nice right now.

Her phone vibrated in her pocket.

The group chat was called “Fishing Nightclub”, filled with the original Xu Jinnan’s fair-weather friends. The conversation was lively, with someone tagging her.

[Song Ronghui: @ItsYourM Nan, did you really slap Chen Bo?]

Xu Jinnan rolled her eyes at the original Xu Jinnan’s nickname, changed it back to her actual name, and replied.

[Xu Jinnan: Shen Shu is my wife. If any of you bother her again, it won’t just be a slap.]

[Xu Jinnan: I’ll put them in a wheelchair for life.]

    The group chat exploded.

[Song Ronghui: …??? I thought you married her to toy with her?]

    [Han Fu: Holy shit!!!]

[Chen Bo: See? I told you! What the hell? She’s taking this Omega marriage seriously after just one ceremony?]

[Song Ronghui: Seriously? You fell for her in one night? Is this Shen Shu even better than our Yin Xue?]

[Han Fu: @yX Are you two still fighting? Say something, knock some sense into your Alpha!]

Xu Jinnan remembered Yin Xue. She was the original Xu Jinnan’s favorite Omega. Even after Shen Shu, the original Xu Jinnan still doted on Yin Xue. Outsiders considered them lovers.

But now, all Xu Jinnan could think about was Shen Shu’s expression. She hadn’t even had a moment to smooth things over with Shen Shu before Chen Bo showed up.

Annoyed, Xu Jinnan didn’t want to engage with them any further.

Just as she was about to turn off her phone, a private message popped up.

Yin Xue: [If I bother her, will you slap me too?]

    Translator’s Notes:

    1. @ItsYourM (@是你M啊): A vulgar username, roughly equivalent to “@It’s Your Mom.” Xu Jinnan changes it immediately(lol).

    2. @yX: Likely stands for Yin Xue

    Chapter 3

Xu Jinnan had considered changing Shen Shu’s clothes before the doctor arrived, but decided against it.

Partly due to her own sexual orientation, but also because, with this identity, any such action felt like taking advantage.

She draped a clean jacket over Shen Shu just as the doctor arrived with several nurses.

The faces of the uniformed medical personnel changed slightly upon entering.

The faint lingering Alpha pheromones in the air were oppressive even to them as Betas. They dealt with Alphas of all ranks daily, but they’d never encountered such a potent scent before.

The lead doctor was specifically assigned to Xu Jinnan’s emergency care and was privy to her secrets. This pheromone couldn’t possibly be hers.

When he smelled the Alpha pheromones and saw the unconscious Omega on the sofa, he surmised what had transpired.

Xu Jinnan, the unruly Omega heiress masquerading as an Alpha, had committed such a disgraceful act on her wedding night.

Shocked by the audacity of it, he felt even more pity for the wonan on the sofa. North City’s renowned aloof goddess, reduced to this… It was truly lamentable.

He tactfully inquired, “Miss Xu, besides us, are there only the two of you present in this room?”

    Xu Jinnan was puzzled: “Yes.”

    Who else would there be?

The doctor nodded, refraining from further comment, and hurried over to examine Shen Shu. After a moment, he stood up and said, “Your wife’s condition appears to be a combination of her heat cycle and the influence of Alpha pheromones. She’s stable now, but I recommend a thorough hospital examination.”

Alpha pheromones? Because of the two men who barged in?

Without hesitation, Xu Jinnan accompanied them to the hospital.

While waiting in the corridor, a middle-aged man with glasses approached and politely addressed her. Xu Jinnan glanced at his ID badge and replied with a smile, “Professor Qin.”

Professor Qin stared at Xu Jinnan’s smile, momentarily surprised.

Then, glancing at the ward, he put on a kind expression: “Miss Xu, your wife’s examination will take a while. Your own monthly checkup has been postponed for a week now. Perhaps we could…”

Xu Jinnan readily agreed: “Alright, please.”

    Professor Qin: “……?”

Please? To hear such polite words from Miss Xu… had she taken the wrong medication?

Xu Jinnan’s attention wasn’t on Professor Qin. She was thinking about how the first step to easing Shen Shu’s suspicion was revealing her Omega identity.

Words were meaningless. Wouldn’t a medical report be the best proof?

The examination and report took an hour and a half. As Xu Jinnan picked up a blood test report and prepared to leave, Professor Qin stopped her.

    “Are you experiencing any discomfort?”

Xu Jinnan shook her head, then hesitated: “Here, it’s a little uncomfortable.”

She pointed to the area of her scent glands. Was there really something wrong with the original Xu Jinnan’s body?

Professor Qin looked at the report on his computer, his brow furrowing slightly. “All your Omega indicators are below standard, and you’re experiencing scent gland discomfort… As a precaution, I recommend you stay for observation.”

He watched Xu Jinnan’s reaction carefully as he spoke. Usually, she would refuse. But the report was indeed abnormal, and he couldn’t take any chances. If she refused, he would have to involve Mrs. Lu.

Unexpectedly, Xu Jinnan nodded: “Okay, please arrange it.”

Given Xu Jinnan’s unusual cooperation, Professor Qin, moved, offered a blessing as she left: “Miss Xu, I forgot to wish you a happy marriage.”

Xu Jinnan paused at the door and glanced back at him. Her wife ended up in the hospital on their wedding day. How could that be considered happy?

Professor Qin: “…” Right, that look was still the same old demon.

Shen Shu opened her eyes to white walls, sunlight streaming through the window, the smell of antiseptic, and familiar hushed voices.

She had finally recovered from her near-death experience, but the horrors of last night felt like they had just happened. She’d already felt unwell as she reached the door, wanting to turn back, but Xu Jinnan had dragged her inside.

She’d fled from the doorway to the bathroom, her clothes torn by Xu Jinnan…

Thinking about it, Shen Shu took a deep breath.

Now, looking back, everything from the simple wedding to the hangover candies at the end, even the choice of the secluded new house, had been meticulously calculated.

But why did Xu Jinnan let her go in the end? The moment she smelled the Alpha pheromones, she had braced herself for a forced marking, or worse.

“Shu Shu, you’re awake?! Are you feeling better? Is there anything else that’s bothering you?”

Footsteps approached, and Shen Shu turned to see Cai Ying hurrying in.

Shen Shu shook her head. Aside from her lingering weakness, she felt much better: “Why are you here?”

Cai Ying, a 19-year-old mixed-race Omega, had light curly hair and deep-set eyes. Despite her young age, she was the only person Shen Shu had connected with in North City these past two years.

“Xu Jinnan called me last night. I was terrified when she said you were in the hospital.” Cai Ying pursed her lips and asked, “What happened?”

“Xu Jinnan?” Shen Shu’s expression hardened. This wasn’t Xu Jinnan’s style, and her behavior yesterday had been completely out of character. “What did she say?”

Cai Ying adjusted the bed, poured a glass of warm water, and sat beside her. “She said… she might have taken the wrong medication.”

Cai Ying recalled Xu Jinnan from last night, unable to pinpoint what felt off. She glanced at Shen Shu’s pale face, now devoid of its earlier flush, her expression unreadable.

Her gaze fell to the collar of Shen Shu’s hospital gown, where the faint red marks hadn’t yet disappeared. She regretted asking the question. Last night, Xu Jinnan must have done something unforgivable to Shen Shu.

Cai Ying felt a pang of anger: “This is only your first day of marriage, and you’re already in the hospital. What about the future?!”

Shen Shu collected her thoughts, a bitter smile playing on her lips.

“I should have stopped you when you agreed to marry her! Look at how things were yesterday. Was that even a wedding? Mrs. Lu only showed her face briefly, no one else even bothered to appear. It was pure humiliation! Shu Shu, if things get any worse, we have to find a way to get you a divorce.”

    “It’s no use.”

Sometimes, Shen Shu thought that perhaps it was Cai Ying’s childlike nature, her simple cheerfulness, that she found so comforting.

But this matter was far from simple.

Xu Jinnan hadn’t married her out of love. Could she just get a divorce whenever she wanted? Of course not.

Xu Jinnan had resorted to such extreme measures to force her into this marriage. How could she possibly escape so easily?

    At least, not now.

Xu Jinnan wouldn’t let her go.

Shen Shu’s thoughts suddenly became clear. If Xu Jinnan wasn’t going to let her go easily, she wouldn’t have changed overnight. This was a slow boil, like a frog in gradually heating water.

Her slender fingers gripped the white sheet. The thought of spending countless days with this devil sent a chill down her spine.

    “Shu Shu, are you alright?”

Cai Ying squeezed her hand. “Your hands are so cold.”

Shen Shu was covered in a cold sweat: “Could you find me some clean clothes? I want to take a shower.”

Cai Ying had just left the room when the door opened again. Shen Shu, sitting on the bed with her back to the door, turned at the sound, standing up warily: “Who are you?”

A male Alpha with dyed blonde hair closed the door behind him and grinned at Shen Shu. “Don’t be scared, sister-in-law. We’re all on the same side. We almost met last night.”

Xu Jinnan stayed in the hospital overnight without any further discomfort. The follow-up tests still showed low levels, but nothing else was found.

She also received a call from Lu Yun, the original Xu Jinnan’s mother. After much persuasion, she managed to convince her mother that it was just a routine checkup and dissuaded her from rushing over. She hadn’t fully adjusted to this world yet, and she needed to figure out how to deal with the people in the original Xu Jinnan’s life.

But Mrs. Lu doted on her daughter. Though she stayed home, she didn’t rest, sending enough food and drinks to fill the ward overnight.

Xu Jinnan couldn’t stand staying there any longer.

After walking around outside, Shen Shu’s image inexplicably surfaced in her mind. Professor Qin had said Shen Shu was fine and could be discharged in a couple of days.

For some reason, Xu Jinnan suddenly felt the urge to visit her.

    Chapter 2

Xu Jinnan finished her earnest explanation, then looked up to see Shen Shu’s expression that clearly said, Keep pretending. She felt rather awkward.

Words alone were insufficient, but a hospital could provide proof.

Lost in thought, Xu Jinnan felt her hand empty. Shen Shu had pulled away, supporting herself against the cool tiles with uneven breaths. She was clearly unable to stand, much less lean on Xu Jinnan.

Xu Jinnan asked, “Shall we go outside?”

Shen Shu’s fingers twitched. Xu Jinnan guessed she was still wary of the two Alphas barging in earlier, so she added, “You need to rest now. But if you don’t want to stay here, I can have someone take you wherever you want to go. Or do you want to contact someone yourself?” The Omega before her was still easily startled. Though she maintained her composure, her body unconsciously leaned against the glass door, almost at a right angle.

    She felt incredibly unsafe.

Therefore, each of Xu Jinnan’s sentences was phrased as a question, leaving the decision entirely in Shen Shu’s hands.

After a few seconds, Shen Shu finally spoke, her soft voice still laced with suspicion: “You’ll really let me leave?”

This time, Xu Jinnan didn’t reply. She turned, opened the bathroom door, rummaged through her bag for her phone, and held it out to Shen Shu from a safe distance. “Don’t worry. I said I wouldn’t hurt you, and I won’t.”

Rest was paramount for an Omega during their heat, and Shen Shu certainly wouldn’t find any peace here.

Xu Jinnan glanced over, meeting Shen Shu’s scrutinizing gaze. After a moment of eye contact, Shen Shu took the phone but didn’t react immediately.

Xu Jinmnn looked away, bending down to pick up the clothes from the floor. The gold thread on the wedding robe shimmered under the bright light. Glancing at the forcibly torn buttons, she now recalled the red marks on Shen Shu’s neck.

Xu Jinnan tossed the robe into the trash.

It was the first time she’d been treated with such wolf-like suspicion. She shook her head helplessly.

Walking into the bedroom, she heard a sound from the bathroom behind her.

The Omega’s voice was a little hoarser than before, amplified in the empty bathroom. Xu Jinnan paused her search for clothes.

Less than half a minute later, the call ended.

Xu Jinnan stood still, Shen Shu’s silhouette visible through the frosted glass. She was slightly hunched, but her outline remained distinct, even more captivating in the hazy light.

But at this moment, Xu Jinnan, as an outsider who had read the first half of the novel, felt an inexplicable complexity.

In Savage Lover, Shen Shu was adopted, but raised like a treasure by her maternal grandmother until her death. Only then did she return to the Shen family.

But by then, Shen Shu’s adoptive parents already had their own biological son, a rare S-class Alpha in this world, and naturally looked down on Shen Shu. However, they discovered another use for her – Shen Shu’s beauty and talent could bring them business advantages.

They were greedy and selfish, which was why the original Xu Jinnan could so easily manipulate them.

Yet Shen Shu… chose to sacrifice her own happiness for them, bowing her head not only for them, but also for her deceased grandmother.

This was why, in the novel, Shen Shu didn’t immediately leave the original Xu Jinnan after that night. However, it all served as a turning point for Shen Shu’s eventual fiery rebirth.

But the current Shen Shu couldn’t see that far ahead, still clinging to hope for the Shen family.

In this frightened and helpless state, in unfamiliar surroundings, the first people Shen Shu thought of were still the Shen family, that sliver of familial connection.

Xu Jinnan casually threw on a jacket, then grabbed a beige trench coat and walked out. Standing a safe distance away, she said to Shen Shu, “I’m leaving now. Change the passcode yourself. As long as you don’t want anyone here, no one will come again.”

There was no response from inside the bathroom. She tentatively took a step closer, finally able to see inside.

Shen Shu hung her head, lips tightly pressed together. Her slightly wavy black hair fell loosely around her, a few strands resting on her collarbone, the thin straps of her camisole precariously perched on her shoulders.

Xu Jinman touched her aching neck, the area around her scent gland slightly protruding. A strange, unfamiliar sensation spread through her body. Although it was painful, it wasn’t as agonizing as before, but rather a sense of release, like overcoming an obstacle.

Before she could process it further, Shen Shu collapsed like a kite with a broken string.

Xu Jinnan’s heart leaped. She rushed forward, catching Shen Shu just before she hit the floor. Her back slammed against the tiles with a thud.

She coughed twice, brought back to her senses by the burning in her chest. Shen Shu’s pained breaths against her felt like they were seeping into her skin.

Xu Jinnan noticed the temperature of the skin beneath her fingertips rising rapidly. Even more perplexing, the Omega pheromones in the air intensified again.

    “Shen Shu!”

Shen Shu felt like she was burning up, her body no longer her own. Her pheromones were completely chaotic, every part of her aching and trembling.

Though a sliver of consciousness and reason remained, she couldn’t bring herself to move away from Xu Jinnan…

In her hazy state, she was enveloped by the scent of sunshine, the scent of Alpha pheromones.

She realized with despair that Xu Jinnan had tricked her again. The suppressant was fake, the promise to let her go was fake.

Of course, Xu Jinnan was an Alpha. How could she have an Omega suppressant? It was all a lie!

    Hell awaited her.

Why was her life like this?

She was not resigned to this fate.

Xu Jinnan sensed something was wrong. Shen Shu was worse than before, and she heard several pained whimpers.

The suppressant should have worked. She couldn’t understand why it wasn’t effective on Shen Shu.

She frowned, calling out a few more times without a response, then glanced around, unable to find her phone.

Xu Jinnan held Shen Shu’s shoulders and helped her up, her gaze falling on Shen Shu’s face. The Omega looked like a beauty trapped in a nightmare, brows furrowed, cheeks flushed, and long lashes glistening with tears.

    Was she crying?

Xu Jinnan’s brows knit together. She couldn’t bear to see a girl cry.

The proud and strong protagonist of the book was shedding tears in her presence. How much pain must she be in?

Xu Jinnan put an arm around Shen Shu’s shoulders, slipping her other arm under her knees, intending to carry her to the sofa before looking for her phone. As she moved, she felt something digging into her lower abdomen.

Looking down, she saw her phone nestled amongst the folds of the discarded wedding dress.

As she reached for the phone, Shen Shu stirred. Xu Jinnan froze, the unbearable excitement and suppression prickling through every pore of her skin. She forced it down.

Outside the window, the night was pitch black, but her insides felt like they were being scorched by the sun.

The pain in her scent glands intensified, as if a pump was constantly inflating them. Just when she thought her neck would explode, the discomfort suddenly vanished…

She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but Shen Shu’s breathing seemed to ease slightly.

Without time to think, Xu Jinnan scooped Shen Shu up and placed her on the nearby sofa, then grabbed her phone and dialed.

In this world, every district had specialized hospitals for Alphas and Omegas, with emergency departments further categorized by S, A, B, C, and D levels.

S-class Alphas and Omegas, representing only 0.1% of the ABO population, received the highest level of care.

Xu Jinnan, a failed Omega, barely qualified for C-level.

However, she wasn’t worried about the response time. The Xu family was the biggest investor in the hospitals across both the North and South districts.

Everyone knew how much Xu Jinnan’s parents doted on her. Frankly, she was treated like royalty.

After the call, Xu Jinnan searched the room but couldn’t find any scent blockers. She did find a pheromone neutralizing spray in the bedroom. It could dissolve some of the pheromones in the air. After closing all the doors and windows, she sprayed it everywhere.

Xu Jinnan turned her attention back to the sofa. The high fever had Shen Shu drenched in sweat, her face flushed like a ripe peach, but her rose-colored lips were dry and matte.

Xu Jinnan suddenly felt thirsty herself.

After drinking a full glass of water, she filled another with warm water and walked over to the sofa, sitting beside Shen Shu. Her slender, pale arm reached across Shen Shu’s damp back, helping her sit up.

Shen Shu’s vision was blurred by a reddish haze, her body feeling like it was pressed against a steaming sponge. She wasn’t sure if this was dangerous, only that she felt endlessly uneasy…

The glass of water approached her lips. A moment later, Xu Jinnan laid Shen Shu back down.

By now, Xu Jinnan was covered in sweat again. A thought struck her, and she looked down at the Omega on the sofa.

Xu Jinnan went to the bathroom and wrung out a warm washcloth, gently wiping the sweat from Shen Shu’s face. As she reached her jaw, her movements abruptly stopped.

A shimmering trail of water traced a path from the corner of Shen Shu’s lips, down her jawline and neck, finally trembling to a stop at her collarbone.

    Chapter 1

Xu Jinnan left the house after taking some cephalosporin, feeling dizzy and weak.

In the blink of an eye, her familiar apartment complex transformed. How could her vision be so blurry?

Through her hazy sight, a torn wedding dress lay discarded on the ground. A woman in a red camisole slumped against a glass door, her exposed skin flushed and alluring, lips slightly parted as she breathed unsteadily.

Each heavy breath intensified the honeyed vanilla scent in the air.

After a series of suppressed sounds, the entire scene was charged with a sensual atmosphere.

Xu Jinnan was still disoriented, not even questioning the strangeness of it all. She just thought, Here’s another scumbag using drugs for their dirty tricks.

“You drugged me…” the woman’s voice was weak and powerless.

“?” Xu Jinnan looked down to meet a pair of phoenix eyes filled with hatred. Subconsciously, she replied, “Drugged you with what…” Her words trailed off as her gaze landed on two intersecting crescent moons tattooed below the woman’s collarbone. She abruptly stopped.

    That tattoo—

Xu Jinnan blinked, taking in the woman’s features more clearly. She’d never seen this person or the tattoo before, yet a strange familiarity washed over her, as if it were a vivid memory.

A thought struck her, and Xu Jinnan froze. An unbelievable idea formed in her mind. She pursed her lips and tentatively asked, “Shen… Shu?”

“Shameless… Xu Jinnan, you make me sick!”

The woman finished in one breath, her snow-white arm going limp as her upper body collapsed to the floor.

    Xu Jinnan: “…”

It all clicked. She had transmigrated.

This was the world of a lesbian ABO novel called Savage Lover.

In the book, her namesake, the original Xu Jinnan, was an Alpha in appearance but a failed Omega. Though an Omega, she was indifferent to pheromones like a Beta. Pampered by her parents, she grew up twisted and cruel.

The original Xu Jinnan was notorious in their social circle. Whether Alpha or Omega, anyone who caught her eye would be pursued relentlessly, always ending badly.

And the protagonist, Shen Shu, was the renowned, aloof Omega goddess of North City, and the ultimate prey in the original Xu Jinnan’s eyes.

After repeated rejections, the original Xu Jinnan threatened Shen Shu’s adoptive parents with financial ruin, falsely promising to leave Shen Shu alone. To save her family and their company, Shen Shu agreed.

But on their wedding night, the original Xu Jinnan drugged Shen Shu, forcing her into an early heat cycle and subjecting her to horrific humiliation using various objects.

Even worse – she deliberately chose a secluded house for their new home, intending to invite other Alphas to… In the end, Shen Shu’s scent glands were ruptured, leaving her permanently disabled.

    Xu Jinnan was numb.

Just thinking about the plot made her uncomfortable. She hadn’t even finished the book because of the insane storyline and sharing a name with the villain. She only remembered her friend mentioning the ending – the mentally scarred Shen Shu eventually carved out Xu Jinnan’s scent glands piece by piece, and her adoptive parents also met a tragic end…

She looked at the helpless Omega on the floor, the handcuffs in her palm feeling like ice blades.

“Don’t be afraid, I might be…” Xu Jinnan hesitated, then asked, “How are you feeling?” She hid the handcuffs behind her back and stepped forward to help Shen Shu up.

Xu Jinnan’s hands were beautiful and slender, nicknamed “jade fingers.” It was said that a single touch could make anyone melt. But the moment Shen Shu saw Xu Jinnan’s hands, she recoiled.

    “Don’t come near me!”

Xu Jinnan paused. Seeing Shen Shu’s brows furrow in pain, she thought for a moment and said, “Wait, I’ll find you a suppressant.”

Shen Shu glared at her with disgust and contempt, clearly not believing her.

Xu Jinnan didn’t mind. She searched around but found nothing. Then, her eyes lit up when she saw a square red handbag. The original Xu Jinnan, because of her twisted hobbies, had hidden certain things in the bag.

Opening the bag, the contents completely shattered Xu Jinnan’s worldview.

The absurd thing was, she was intimately familiar with every item, including how to use them… She could even picture certain lewd and coercive scenes. Not only that, but she also felt a flicker of instinctive excitement.

Xu Jinnan realized this body still retained some of the original Xu Jinnan’s… particular preferences.

    “…”

    This was just great.

Pushing aside her thoughts, she pulled out a suppressant.

Normal suppressants came in tablets or sprays, but the original Xu Jinnan preferred things… intense. So, her suppressant was in an injectable form.

This thing had to be injected directly into the scent glands on the back of the neck. Just thinking about it made her wince. This wasn’t just crazy; it was perverted!

Xu Jinnan removed the metal cap from the syringe and crouched down beside Shen Shu, offering it to her. “Can you do it yourself?”

The wonan on the floor didn’t even look at her, biting her lip and digging her nails into her flesh to stay conscious, clearly unwilling to believe another word she said.

Xu Jinnan sighed inwardly. With the original Xu Jinnan’s reputation, she wouldn’t trust her easily either.

But without the suppressant, Shen Shu would either die from the fever or attract a horde of Alphas with her potent Omega pheromones…

Xu Jinnan’s thought process was simple: no matter what, she couldn’t let anything happen to Shen Shu tonight.

“Tell you what, I’ll give myself a shot to show you. If you think it’s okay, you can use it, alright?” She wasn’t lying. After saying this, Xu Jinnan really did inject herself. However, unfamiliar with the procedure, she missed the mark twice on her right scent gland before finally hitting it on the third try.

Even a small amount of the suppressant entering her gland caused a sharp pain that made her break out in a cold sweat. Strangely though, her mind felt even more stimulated than before.

Xu Jinnan attributed it to the original Xu Jinnan’s influence and suppressed her growing restlessness. She offered the suppressant to Shen Shu again.

Shen Shu still didn’t take it.

Just then, a sudden knocking and voices came from outside the door—

“Damn, this scent is incredible! An S-class Omega is something else!”

    “Nan-jie, we’re here, open up!”

“Should we just let ourselves in?”

After that, the keypad beeped as the code was entered.

It was the Alphas the original Xu Jinnan had called! Xu Jinnan: …This scumbag even gave them the code!

Shen Shu’s flushed face instantly paled.

The knocking and shouting grew louder. Xu Jinnan’s expression darkened. She scooped up Shen Shu and carried her into the bathroom, kicking the door shut with her high heel and locking it.

In this world, Omegas were naturally suppressed by Alpha pheromones. She was also an Omega here, and even though she was unaffected by pheromones, she would still be suppressed by an Alpha. She might not be able to protect Shen Shu then.

The moment the door closed, the main door unlocked, and two sets of footsteps entered the living room, drawing closer.

Xu Jinnan patted the trembling Shen Shu, whispering “Shhh” in her ear.

Then she yelled at the door, “Get out! Don’t you dare bother us!”

    “Whoa, what’s with the anger?”

Fortunately, Xu Jinnan’s family was powerful. Hearing the anger in her voice, the two men didn’t dare to push further.

“Alright, alright, Nan-jie, have fun first. Call us when you’re done.”

“Imagine how amazing it would be to pin her down…”

Soon, the vulgar conversation and footsteps faded, and the main door locked again.

Xu Jinnan looked at the frightened Shen Shu and softly coaxed, “Don’t listen to their nonsense. I won’t let anyone in. Now be good and take the suppressant.”

“Get away…” Shen Shu tried to push her away, but her efforts against Xu Jinnan were feeble.

Xu Jinnan was getting a headache. Even now, Shen Shu refused to use the suppressant. She truly resented her down to her bones. Thinking about the original Xu Jinnan’s fate, she felt a burning pain in her own neck.

Xu Jinnan was out of options: “You have to take it. Just bear with it.”

She held Shen Shu against her shoulder, securing her with an arm around her waist. As she picked up the syringe, ready to inject her forcefully…

    “Hiss—Don’t bite… Gently…”

Her neck was suddenly bitten by the Omega.

Shen Shu didn’t have much strength, but the sudden burst of force made Xu Jinnan’s heart clench in pain.

She didn’t push her away. Enduring the sharp pain, she gently hooked the Omega’s long hair with her pinky finger and quickly injected the suppressant into her scent gland.

After a few seconds, the pain subsided, leaving only a burning heat and moist breath against her skin.

The vanilla scent in the air lessened considerably.

It seemed to be working. Xu Jinnan let out a long breath and asked, “Shen Shu, are you alright?”

The body in her arms stirred slightly.

Shen Shu asked breathlessly, “What… what are you playing at?”

“No games.” Xu Jinnan said, “When you’re feeling better, I’ll leave. Or if you want to go somewhere, we can go.” In reality, she wanted to leave this place even more than Shen Shu did.

Shen Shu’s hot breath was on her neck, and both of them were only wearing thin layers of clothing. She was only in a strapless top, and Shen Shu in a camisole, their chests practically glued together.

She hadn’t noticed it before, but now that things had calmed down, Xu Jinnan felt a strange reaction in her body.

A heat bloomed from within, her heartbeat matching Shen Shu’s pre-injection breathing rate. Her scent glands throbbed, and a wave of heat washed over her.

Her mind was even less cooperative, flashing images of the smooth, silk-like skin around Shen Shu’s scent gland, the color of rosewater blooming on white sheets…

Her thoughts ran wild, tracing a path from the Omega’s tailbone to her shoulder blades, finally settling on the most sensitive spot on her neck.

It would be even better if the Omega cried. She would cup her face, gazing into her moist eyes.

    Until the Omega yielded—

Xu Jinnan gasped at her own thoughts. She liked women, but she’d never had such intense, possessive thoughts before.

Was this another aftereffect of the original Xu Jinnan?!

Afraid of doing something rash, Xu Jinnan quickly moved Shen Shu away from her embrace, supporting her only with her arm.

    “Are you feeling better now?”

Meeting Shen Shu’s suspicious gaze, Xu Jinnan said earnestly, “If I wanted to harm you, I wouldn’t have given you the suppressant.”

Shen Shu narrowed her eyes, as if asking: You dare say that?

    “…”

Xu Jinnan choked. The people who just came in using the code were hard to explain.

In the brief silence, Xu Jinnan’s eyes were drawn back to the tattoo on Shen Shu’s collarbone.

Two black crescent moons, forming a curved X, sat on the bone of her right collarbone. A simple design, but strikingly beautiful against her pale skin. The novel mentioned Shen Shu had done it herself.

Her gaze traveled upwards from the tattoo.

Shen Shu’s image was supposed to be cool and elegant, but now she looked so weak she might collapse at any moment. The redness hadn’t faded from the corners of her eyes, strands of hair clung to her cheeks and neck with sweat, and her lips were like blooming roses.

It made her look more like an alluring siren.

Tempting one to reach out and crush those roses, making them even more vibrant.

Xu Jinnan was really feeling unwell now.

It felt like something was about to burst forth from within her, her pulse and scent glands not just throbbing, but aching.

    “Seen enough?”

The weak Omega lifted her head to meet her gaze.

Xu Jinnan saw the coldness and wariness in her bloodshot eyes, and the absurd thoughts that had flashed through her mind a moment ago.

“…” Xu Jinnan cleared her throat and said, “Don’t be nervous. Actually, I’m not an Alpha. I’m an Omega.”

    Shen Shu: “?”
