Bloodthirsty Countess’s Overbearing Love 89

Chapter 89

The four of them arrived in Beijing and settled into Song Ling’s villa. Its secluded location provided privacy from the paparazzi, making it a comfortable temporary residence for Fan Weiqi.

After a few days of rest, the film crew contacted them, summoning them back to the set. It was the final stage of filming, which meant the project was nearing completion. Li Xinjun and Fan Weiqi returned to the set with mixed emotions, happy that the film was almost finished, but also sad that their time together was coming to an end.

As actresses, their schedules were demanding, and apart from filming, they rarely had time to see each other. They had become close friends, and the thought of parting ways was bittersweet.

Despite their personal feelings, they both approached their work with professionalism, diligently filming their scenes. Soon, it was time for Fan Weiqi’s final scene. It was the scene where the two female leads were injured in a bombing before fleeing to Shanghai. The set was rigged with explosives.

When Li Xinjun entered the scene, she would see Fan Weiqi running towards her from a distance. An explosion would then erupt behind Fan Weiqi, throwing her to the ground. Li Xinjun would then rush to her side, cradling her in her arms and crying.

Director Wang was explaining the scene to the two actresses when an unexpected visitor arrived. Xu Dao appeared on set, her face plastered with a fake smile as she greeted them. Li Xinjun was surprised. They hadn’t spoken since their confrontation in Shanghai.

She had assumed Xu Dao wouldn’t bother her again, but here she was, back in Beijing, intruding on her life. Li Xinjun excused herself from Director Wang and went to speak to Xu Dao.

“Xu Jie, what are you doing here?”

“I came to visit you on set.”

“Xu Jie… I made myself clear last time. If you keep harassing me, I won’t be so polite anymore.”

“Mo Mo, you’ve changed. You never used to talk to me like this. I thought you were just making excuses to reject me, but… Do you really love that Fan Weiqi that much? Enough to hurt me like this?”

“Xu Jie, this has nothing to do with Qiqi. There was never any love between us. You were the only one who had feelings for me. I’ve always seen you as a friend.”

“Alright, since you’ve made it so clear, I won’t bother you anymore. Go back to work. I’ll just watch from here and leave later.”

“Thank you, Xu Jie. I hope you can move on. I need to get back to work now.”

Li Xinjun, without another thought, returned to Director Wang. Xu Dao, watching her leave, glared at Fan Weiqi in the distance, her eyes filled with hatred.

Li Xinjun and Director Wang discussed the scene for a while, and then filming began. Fan Weiqi, her face etched with worry, searched for Li Xinjun in the crowd. Just as she was about to give up hope, she saw Li Xinjun in the distance, also searching for her.

As if drawn by an invisible force, their eyes met. Fan Weiqi smiled and started walking towards Li Xinjun, her pace quickening until she was running, eager to embrace her.

Li Xinjun stood there, her arms outstretched, waiting for Fan Weiqi. Director Wang held his breath, watching the scene unfold. He raised his hand, signaling the special effects team. As soon as Fan Weiqi entered the safe zone, he would give the signal to detonate the explosives.

The special effects team had conducted numerous safety tests, ensuring that the explosion wouldn’t harm Fan Weiqi. She just had to jump at the right moment. However, for some unknown reason, the explosion was much more powerful than expected, sending Fan Weiqi flying through the air.

Li Xinjun, realizing something was wrong, rushed forward to catch her, but she was too late. Fan Weiqi landed hard, her back severely burned. She lost consciousness, her body limp in Li Xinjun’s arms.

Chaos erupted. The force of the explosion had damaged equipment and injured several crew members. Screams filled the air. Li Xinjun cradled Fan Weiqi in her arms, calling her name, trying to wake her, but Fan Weiqi didn’t respond.

Most of the injured were rushed to the hospital. One extra, who had been too close to the explosion, died instantly. The rest of the cast and crew waited anxiously at the hospital.

Li Xinjun, her body trembling, knelt outside the operating room, waiting for news. Xu Dao, appearing out of nowhere, sat down beside her, offering comfort. Li Xinjun, too distraught to care, allowed Xu Dao to hold her.

Song Ling and Mark arrived at the hospital, their faces etched with worry. Li Xinjun, seeing Song Ling, pushed Xu Dao away and rushed into Song Ling’s arms. Song Ling held her close, comforting her, while glaring at Xu Dao.

Li Xinjun explained what had happened. Mark, worried about Fan Weiqi, paced anxiously. After what seemed like an eternity, the operating room door opened, and the doctor emerged. Li Xinjun and Mark rushed towards him, demanding answers, but the doctor simply shook his head sadly.

“I’m sorry. We did everything we could. You can see her now.”

Li Xinjun collapsed to the floor, her body wracked with sobs. Mark, stunned, rushed into the operating room. Song Ling helped Li Xinjun up, supporting her.

Mark looked at Fan Weiqi’s lifeless body, lying on the bed. He went to her side, his hand gently stroking her forehead, his other hand clutching hers.

A tear rolled down his cheek, landing on the bed. Li Xinjun and Song Ling entered the room. Li Xinjun, her body trembling, rushed to Fan Weiqi’s side and embraced her. Feeling the coldness of her body, Li Xinjun’s eyes turned a pale green, her fangs elongating. She leaned towards Fan Weiqi’s neck, but Mark pushed her away.

“What are you doing?! I need to save her!”

“Don’t you think I want to save her?! Have you considered her wishes?!”

“Just let me save her first! Get out of the way!”

“Li Xinjun! Calm down! I want to save her more than anyone here! But I know she wouldn’t want to become a monster like us!”

“How do you know? We can discuss that after she’s alive!”

“She told me!”

“She told you?”

“Yes! She knew! She knew everything! But she didn’t want to become like us!”

“You… How did she know?”

“I told her! Because I love her! I didn’t want to lie to her! So stop this! It’s her choice! She believed that the length of a life doesn’t matter, as long as it’s a life well-lived! If you truly care about her, respect her wishes and let her go in peace!”

“Mark… Are you really willing to let her go? In a few minutes, it will be too late! Are you sure you want to let her die?”

“No, I don’t want to. But I choose to respect her choice. I hope you will too.”

Song Ling embraced Li Xinjun, who was sobbing uncontrollably. Li Xinjun looked at Fan Weiqi’s lifeless body and then buried her face in Song Ling’s shoulder, her cries echoing through the room. Song Ling held her close, her heart breaking for both of them.

Mark looked at Fan Weiqi, gently stroking her hair, and then kissed her lips.

“I love you. I wish I had met you sooner.”

Li Xinjun’s sobs intensified. Song Ling, not wanting to disturb Mark’s final farewell, gently led Li Xinjun out of the room. Li Xinjun, her body weak from crying, leaned against Song Ling, her sobs subsiding into soft whimpers. Xu Dao, watching them from a nearby chair, clenched her fists, her eyes filled with hatred.

Mark said his final goodbyes to Fan Weiqi, his voice choked with emotion. He remembered their time together, her graceful dance moves, her infectious laughter, her shy smile, her confident and beautiful aura. Now, all that remained was a cold and lifeless shell.

Years ago, he had become a vampire to save his beloved wife, seeking out a legendary immortal, but he had failed to save her. Now, centuries later, he had fallen in love again, only to watch as the woman he loved slipped away. He had the power to save her, to turn her into a vampire, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it against her wishes. The helplessness was crushing.

But he knew that everyone had their own destiny. Fan Weiqi had lived a full and vibrant life. He believed that even though her life had been cut short, she would be remembered, and he would never forget her.
