Chapter 207: Seven Days in the Abyss
“That’s strange. Could it be that she, like Phils, has a penchant for masochism?”
Kailun scratched his head in confusion after receiving the new feedback.
He had messed up the Temple of the Celestial God to this extent, but she wasn’t angry. Instead, she seemed to find it interesting.
Was she confident of victory, or did she have a strange fetish?
“What masochism?”
Bella, who was having afternoon tea with Kailun, added several spoonfuls of sugar to her cup.
“Nothing, just a strange person.” Kailun took a sip of tea and dismissed the topic.
“The Pope and the others have successfully reached Alaye. The Empress’s forces have retreated. What are you going to do next?”
It was Chrissy who asked. She had been keeping an eye on the Pope’s movements.
It was a pity that she hadn’t been able to completely change the Pope’s mind last time. She would have to try harder next time.
Kailun: “Naturally, have Helena supervise the construction of the teleportation magic circle. If the progress is fast enough, it should be completed in about a week. Then, we can fully connect Alaye and the Royal City.”
Speaking of the teleportation magic circle, it was mainly being handled by Fox and Isabella. Vivian and Illusion, who were relatively free, were naturally recruited, while Shirley and Hilna were called in to assist.
As for why he didn’t call Carol, it was because she was currently in a critical period of advancement.
Everyone was busy, and Kailun had more free time.
He had read all the scrolls and magic books he could find. There was nothing he could improve on at the moment.
“Can I go to Alaye? I’ve fought against the Temple of the Celestial God for so many years. I want to go there and act arrogantly.”
Bella looked at Kailun with longing.
She hated the Temple of the Celestial God. The hatred in her heart hadn’t faded.
Because of the Temple’s hunting and pursuit over the years, only Bella and Bolton were left of the Dragon Clan.
If it weren’t for the bigger picture, Bella would have already whipped the Pope.
Kailun said half-jokingly, “Of course, you might even make the followers of the Temple bow down to you.”
“That would be great! It would be even better if the Pope joined in.”
Bella wagged her tail excitedly. She couldn’t help but slip her tail under the table, wanting to get closer to Kailun, but it was blocked halfway.
A smooth leg stood between her and Kailun. Bella turned her head to look at Chrissy and stuck her tongue out at her.
Her tail had been discovered as soon as she extended it. It seemed that Chrissy was also an “expert.”
“I’ll try, but I can’t guarantee it. After all, the Pope is an extremely proud person.” Kailun calmly checked the latest magic letters.
Chrissy gave Kailun a suggestive look. “Then break her pride. I believe a fallen Pope will be even more ‘formidable’ than me.”
The fallen Chrissy was a slave to desire. She wondered what a fallen Pope would be like. She was looking forward to it.
“Don’t learn from Chrissy. She’s already broken.”
Kailun used his leg to clamp Chrissy’s foot. She had helped him block Bella’s sneak attack but then tried to steal the “prize” herself.
Not only that, but after being clamped by Kailun, Chrissy didn’t give up. She used her other foot as a pivot and moved her chair closer to him.
“That’s right, I’m broken. But I’m content now. I don’t have to think about those complicated things. Every day is fulfilling. I spend half of the day meditating, and the rest of the time I can read novels, go shopping, and watch performances. At night, I can fall asleep in his arms, exhausted from our ‘activities.’ Isn’t that the best thing ever?”
Chrissy held her teacup in her right hand, looking dignified and holy. But her left hand was under the table, trying to do something.
“I’m not envious at all. Not at all.”
Bella’s eyes were filled with envy. She glanced at Kailun, as if hinting for him to take action sooner.
But Kailun’s attention was mostly on Chrissy. He maintained a serious expression while defending against her advances.
If he let her succeed, she might even dare to do something unspeakable in front of Bella.
Never underestimate Chrissy’s determination. She was much more passionate than the others.
Seeing that Kailun was ignoring her, Bella attacked him with her tail again. But Chrissy wouldn’t allow anyone to steal her “food” and blocked her once more.
Kailun sighed softly. Thankfully, he could increase his constitution. Otherwise, at this rate, he would be drained sooner or later.
Fortunately, the two most powerful women in his household didn’t seem that demanding, even less so than Phils. They were easy to satisfy.
In a way, this was good news.
After failing to make any progress, Bella picked up her teacup with a dejected expression. “Can I go back to the Abyss? I’ve been away for a long time. I want to go back and have a look.”
Bella had a feeling that if she missed this opportunity, she might never be able to return to the Abyss.
She couldn’t explain the origin of this feeling. It was just a strange premonition.
Kailun glared at Chrissy, signaling her to restrain herself, and then asked Bella, “Is something bothering you?”
“No, I just feel like I should go back and have a look. Grandpa said that the Abyss has changed a lot. It’s not the same as it used to be. So I want to go back and see. Maybe I won’t be able to go back in the future.”
Bella retracted her tail, letting it droop on the ground. She looked listless.
“I see. I understand. But it’s too dangerous for you to go back alone. I’ll accompany you. We should have enough time.”
Kailun held up three fingers. “But let’s make it clear first. We can stay there for a maximum of three days.”
Including the travel time, Kailun’s budget was only one week.
He hadn’t made this decision solely for Bella. Part of the reason was that he wanted to see the Abyss for himself. He needed to solve some of the mysteries surrounding it personally.
There might be a chance to find traces of that unlucky entity. If he was lucky, he might even be able to capture her directly.
Of course, the possibility was extremely low. Such an ancient entity must have many trump cards. Normal methods might not be effective.
“Only three days? That’s okay.”
Bella nodded. She was satisfied with three days.
It was a special time, and she didn’t want to cause Kailun more trouble. She just wanted to be a little “selfish” this time.
“I want to go too! I can do anything! I can even warm your bed and change your clothes!”
Chrissy quickly clung to Kailun’s arm, afraid that he wouldn’t take her.
If she couldn’t see Kailun for seven days straight, she would probably be so bored that she would meditate all day long.
“This trip to the Abyss isn’t just for fun. I’ll take you next time. This time, there are too many people, and I can’t ensure everyone’s safety. Besides, I need you to stay at the manor and help me monitor Rose. She’s been making more and more suspicious moves lately. I’m waiting for the fish to take the bait.”
Kailun stroked Chrissy’s golden hair. Bringing Chrissy along would definitely add more “fun,” but he needed someone to help him at home.
As a Saint carefully cultivated by the Temple, Chrissy was quite capable and could handle most decisions.
“When are you leaving?” Chrissy pouted, looking displeased.
Kailun calculated the time. “Probably tomorrow. The teleportation magic circle should be completed in about a week.”
“Then you have to stay with me tonight. You have to make up for the next week.” Chrissy rubbed against his arm insistently.
Since Kailun’s decision was probably unchangeable, she had to settle for something else to avoid being disliked.
To improve her position, Chrissy wouldn’t worry about temporary gains and losses. If she played her cards right, she might even surpass the Pope in the future. How wonderful!
“No problem. I can fulfill this small request.”
Kailun lifted Chrissy’s chin and kissed her red lips. Perhaps because she had added sugar to her tea, the kiss had a hint of sweetness.
Compared to before, Chrissy had become a bit more “normal.”
Although she was still obsessed with love, she was passionate but not mentally unstable.
Her psychological problems had been partially healed. This was a good development.
Come to think of it, all these problems could be blamed on Kailun. He had deeply hurt Chrissy for his own purposes.
But they were enemies back then, so his actions were understandable. If it weren’t for his determination, he wouldn’t be enjoying this leisure now.
Everything had a price. He would just be nicer to this silly girl in the future.
Seeing this scene, Bella’s eyes were filled with envy again. She felt that she should do something during the next week. She couldn’t waste this hard-earned opportunity.
The afternoon passed quickly. After finishing their tea, they went shopping in the Royal City. Kailun made a list and asked the elf sisters to prepare some necessities for him.
At night, Chrissy, Phils, and other strong women came one after another. Carol and Afra took the lead, Anna and Ella, as veterans, played a stabilizing role, and Hilna and Winnie brought up the rear.
Don’t ask where Vivian and Illusion were. The two little ones had been busy all day and didn’t have the energy to participate, so they were excluded.
Thankfully, Kailun’s large bed could slow down time. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be enough time.
However, the bed was still a bit small, forcing poor Hilna to sleep on the floor.
Kailun said that if he had the chance to catch that unlucky entity, he would definitely have her make a new, bigger bed.
Early the next morning, Kailun, who hadn’t slept all night, took a quick shower and found Bella. Her eyes were filled with excitement. As soon as she saw him, she clung to his arm, wrapping him in her softness.
Thankfully, he had experienced too much softness last night, so he greeted her calmly, “Good morning, Bella. It seems you’re looking forward to our trip.”
“Of course! This time, I’ll show you the customs and scenery of the Abyss. You’ll never forget it.” Bella licked her lips, her tail wagging even more excitedly than Fox’s.
That foolish fox was busy building the magic circle and didn’t have time to play. This was her advantage.
If she couldn’t “conquer” Kailun in these seven days, she would give up being a dragon.
