Relieved, Fox worried about another possibility. She turned and ran to Kailun, grabbing his clothes and asking, “Where’s my grandma? Where did you hide her?”
“I didn’t hide her anywhere. She left on her own. The reason I woke you up was to go find her.”
Kailun squatted down, picked up Fox in a princess carry, and stood up.
“Let go of me! You bad guy, don’t touch me!” The frightened Fox kept hitting Kailun’s shoulder.
“Be quiet. Are you an idiot?”
Kailun glared at her with displeasure and placed her on the bed. Before Fox could understand the situation, he squatted down and grabbed her right leg.
A bright red patch appeared under Fox’s foot. It was blood.
The small house where Fox lived was quite dilapidated. Even the floor was uneven, with many potholes.
The barefoot Fox had stepped on a sharp little stone, cutting her foot.

Pushing open the door of Fox’s house, Kailun walked out first.
A white fog had risen in the town, but it didn’t affect his perception for now.

A bone-chilling wind blew past, and Fox, dressed in thin clothes, shivered.
“You’re so weak.” Kailun first teased Fox, then took off his coat and draped it over her head.
