Chapter 140: The Trajectory of Fate Has Changed
“Can you tell me what’s happening to me?” Vivian asked, clutching Kailun’s fingers.
“You’re probably sick. I think your recent abnormalities are all due to illness.”
Kailun pulled his hand back. He knew Vivian was suspicious, but she didn’t have any concrete evidence.
“Such a perfunctory answer. You’re always like this.”
Vivian sighed, resting her head on the table. “I really want to tie you up, whip you, and see you looking all pitiful.”
“I think you’re unrepentant. Believe it or not, I’ll bully you right now.”
Kailun shook his head helplessly. It seemed that Vivian’s twisted thoughts were hard to change.
“Okay, then bully me. I’m your captive anyway. I can’t resist you no matter what you do.”
Vivian, wearing only white knee-high socks, placed her small foot on Kailun’s foot and restlessly rubbed it against his stomach.
Even through his clothes, he could feel the delicate touch. Looking down, he could see a glimpse of the scenery under her skirt through the gap between her raised legs.
Empty and slightly stimulating, Kailun averted his gaze.
“I’m going on a long trip tomorrow. I probably won’t be back for a day or two. So, are you sure you don’t want to come out?”
Kailun held Vivian’s foot to stop her from moving. If he didn’t control it, he wouldn’t know where it would end up.
“Even if you let me out, I won’t change my mind. This is my bottom line.”
Vivian tried to pull her foot back but couldn’t free it from Kailun’s grasp. She simply jumped onto his lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, and said, “Unless you take me with you on your trip, I might as well stay here and meditate.”
“If you’re this much of a homebody, how can I dare to take you in? If you really become useless, I wouldn’t want you even if you were free.”
Kailun wrapped his arm around Vivian’s waist to prevent her from falling.
She was truly petite, so small that it seemed like a gust of wind could blow her over.
Tonight, she was wearing an off-shoulder dress, her fair and delicate shoulders gleaming under the light.
Although only a sliver of her shoulders was exposed, it was enough to attract attention.
Even Vivian, with her slight curves, had her own charm.
If he hadn’t met Vivian, Kailun’s preferences might have been fixed on girls with ample bosoms.
Leaning closer to her ear, he could smell the faint scent of flowers on Vivian. Turning his head, he saw a layer of flower petals floating on the surface of the bathtub behind her.
Her red hair cascaded down her back, reaching the white carpet.
His appreciative gaze returned to her face. Her flawless features were delicate and perfect, without a single flaw even at close range.
If it weren’t for the strange thoughts filling her head, Vivian would be the perfect and adorable little princess in everyone’s eyes.
His relationship with Vivian was twisted. He had said he would bully her relentlessly, but he ultimately couldn’t bring himself to be cruel.
Their eyes met, silently expressing their emotions.
“I can see that you can’t bear to abandon me.” After a moment, Vivian bounced on Kailun’s lap. “You even have designs on my petite body. You really are a pervert. Brother Kailun~ Would you be happy if I called you that?”
Looking at the girl smiling sweetly before him, Kailun’s weakness was exposed.
This was the first time he had heard Vivian address him like this, both in this life and his past life. He felt inexplicably excited.
Vivian could clearly sense Kailun’s excitement. She froze, her face flushing slightly as she looked at him. “You really are a pervert. I just called you that, and you’re already reacting.”
“Would you be even more excited if I called you something else?” Vivian leaned close to Kailun’s ear and nibbled his earlobe with her little canine tooth. Then, in the most innocent voice, she called out, “Daddy~”
“Hiss~”
Kailun gasped, his scalp tingling. His already unsettled heart was stirred once more.
He couldn’t take it anymore. He exploded with Vivian!
He would make this arrogant little girl understand what reality was, what true power was.
Feeling the distinct sensation, Vivian instinctively rubbed against him. Before she could react, she felt a strange change.
In astonishment, Vivian saw a powerful magic circle appear beside her. She estimated it to be eighth-rank. The layers upon layers of magic circles piled together were quite intimidating.
Before she could react, the magic circle activated, enveloping her in a sensation that was both strange and familiar.
Her body felt light, her soul cleansed, a feeling of excessive pleasure washing over her.
Vivian initially thought it was a massage-like magic. Just as she closed her eyes to enjoy it, she felt a burning sensation below.
“Ugh!”
The sudden and unexpected attack made Vivian tense up and cry out in pain.
A tear welled up in the corner of her eye, and she pouted, her face full of grievance.
“Wrong, you went the wrong way!” She punched Kailun’s chest lightly. The explosive fullness rendered her immobile.
Faced with the huge difference in their strength, Vivian once again recognized her own petiteness, feeling like a mayfly trying to shake a tree.
“Don’t change the subject. Let’s continue our chat. Can you try other forms of address? Like ‘Master’ or something?”
Kailun held Vivian’s slender waist and looked at her with amusement.
The sight of Vivian with tears in her eyes easily aroused his desire to bully her. Kailun wanted to make her cry even harder.
“Pervert! Bastard! Sex fiend! You’re a bug with a head full of strange thoughts!”
Vivian pounded Kailun’s chest, trying to hide her embarrassment and pain.
[Vivian is secretly delighted. Goodwill +3, Total Goodwill 85]
Cursing him vehemently while secretly increasing her goodwill. She was truly adorable.
Faced with this Vivian, Kailun wanted to hold her waist and do something, but a figure suddenly appearing outside the room stopped him.
“Didn’t you say you were going to rescue Shirley? Why aren’t you taking action yet?”
Hilna questioned Kailun through the iron bars.
From her perspective, Kailun was sitting on the chair by the table, and Vivian was sitting on his lap. Because of the skirt blocking her view, Hilna didn’t notice anything unusual.
Kailun glanced at Hilna. “Come in and talk.”
After hesitating for a moment, Hilna entered Vivian’s room and sat opposite Kailun.
She didn’t understand why Vivian was looking at her with an angry expression. Her face was very red, as if she had a fever.
Seeing Hilna sitting opposite him, Kailun moved his hand from Vivian’s waist to her smooth shoulder.
“Firstly, your attitude when asking for help is very problematic. I don’t like it. If you do this again next time, I’ll lock you back in the underground prison. Secondly, I’ve already dispatched tens of thousands of soldiers to blockade the surrounding area. Are you blind? Lastly, many eighth and ninth-rank mages are involved in this operation. Do you think this is a trivial matter?”
Kailun, in a good mood, explained the reasons to Hilna. As for how much of this explanation was true, Hilna wasn’t sure.
Hilna: “But…”
“No buts. If we were to rush in recklessly as you suggested, are you planning to have the entire Xiya Kingdom buried with us?”
Kailun pretended to be agitated and bounced his leg. “The Xiya Kingdom has signed cooperation agreements with many forces. This is a time of great prosperity. If we don’t take every step carefully, we could be destroyed at any moment. Do you think the Temple of the Celestial God is a vegetarian?”
“Ugh~”
As Kailun bounced his leg, Vivian had to cling to his neck for stability.
She covered her mouth with one hand and held onto Kailun’s neck with the other, trying her best to suppress any strange sounds.
Thinking of her sister sitting opposite them, Vivian couldn’t help but feel excited.
This feeling of secretly doing something in broad daylight was addictive.
Closing her eyes, she sank into her heart, her stomach churning, her soul burning.
Hilna was intimidated by Kailun’s behavior. It was her first time seeing him bouncing his leg so uncharacteristically.
She wrapped her fingers around her hair and wondered if she had misjudged Kailun.
Putting aside her prejudice, Kailun had indeed done many good things for the Xiya Kingdom. The commoners could eat their fill, wear warm clothes, and afford housing. They had stable, high-paying jobs that only required eight hours of work per day.
Mages and knights could learn more advanced knowledge for free. Many people had crowded into the academy. Every class was packed, and the Xiya Kingdom’s strength was constantly increasing, its influence expanding rapidly.
Economically, Kailun had not only opened up the trade route with the Malaga Kingdom but had also established a far-reaching Chamber of Commerce. Even the large quantities of magic crystals they mined were being sold at high prices.
Looking at it this way, it seemed that she had indeed misjudged Kailun?
In contrast, Hilna realized that she couldn’t achieve any of this. According to her original plan, resolving the issue with the Grand Duke and the Second Prince was already a huge success.
“I’m sorry, I was shortsighted.”
Hilna gritted her teeth, stood up, and bowed to Kailun in apology.
[Hilna’s Goodwill +10, Total Goodwill -40]
An unexpected reaction. It seemed that under Kailun’s careful guidance, Hilna had gradually started to think from his perspective.
This was a good sign. It was commendable that she could admit her mistakes and improve.
“Sit down. Since you’ve sincerely apologized, I’ll continue discussing philosophy and economics with you.”
Kailun seemed even happier. The frequency and amplitude of his leg bouncing increased.
Vivian’s face, in response, became redder and redder, as if it was about to drip with water.
“Drip~”
As time passed, water droplets fell.
But because of the carpet, Hilna couldn’t hear them.
At this moment, Hilna was engrossed in a conversation with Kailun about various matters concerning the Xiya Kingdom. She had never felt so close to him.
Listening to his grand plans, Hilna’s heart was stirred.
Recognizing the gap between them, she lowered her status to that of a pet.
If she had brought a notebook, Hilna might have recorded Kailun’s crazy ideas.
Their conversation lasted for an hour and a half, and they didn’t even bother to drink water during that time.
[Hilna’s opinion of you has changed. Goodwill +10, Total Goodwill -30]
If it weren’t for the inappropriate timing, Kailun might have continued talking with Hilna.
As the one who was suffering the most, Vivian, hiding in Kailun’s arms, couldn’t help but want to roll her eyes and stick out her tongue.
Her mind was a mess, and she hadn’t paid any attention to their conversation.
“Hmph!”
She weakly punched Kailun’s chest. This was her protest.
[Vivian’s goodwill overflows and spills onto the floor. Goodwill +5, Total Goodwill 90]
After a moment, Kailun picked Vivian up by her slender waist and placed her back on the chair.
Because she was too weak, Vivian slumped onto the table and stuck her tongue out at Kailun.
Due to the limited angle, Hilna, sitting opposite them, didn’t notice anything unusual.
“It’s getting late. I need to go back and handle the next arrangements. I’ll leave the rest of the time to you two sisters.”
Kailun stood up, patted his clothes and pants, smoothed out the wrinkles, and left the room feeling refreshed.
This time, he didn’t lock the door. Both Vivian and Hilna could come and go freely.
“Is this the puppet you made? It’s so ugly.”
After watching Kailun leave, Hilna noticed the unfinished wood carving on the table.
“Even if it’s ugly, it’s still prettier than you, sister.”
Vivian raised her head, the blush on her face not yet faded.
Hilna looked at Vivian, feeling that the Vivian in front of her wasn’t the same as the Vivian from just now.
A strange feeling, yet undeniably real.
“This puppet? Sister, you’re really good at joking.” Hilna shook her head. It was clearly an ugly wood carving that was painful to look at.
Vivian frowned, using her hands to support herself as she sat up straight. “It’s not ugly. It’s just not finished yet. By the way, sister, do you know what your final outcome will be? I mean, if your plan goes smoothly.”
“What do you mean?”
Hilna’s expression became serious. She thought of the strange dreams she had been having.
For some reason, she hadn’t had those dreams lately.
Could it be because she was sleeping too far away from Kailun?
Vivian: “I know what you’re thinking. You must be thinking about those magical dreams. Indeed, they are very magical, but they’re not good things. However, based on my observations, I think I’ve seen your future, sister.”
Logically, “Vivian” shouldn’t reveal what had happened in the past, but Hilna wasn’t a core figure who could influence the world.
Plus, she was using dreams as a cover, so the impact would be much smaller.
Probably.
Hilna leaned forward, her gaze fixed on Vivian’s mischievous eyes. “Tell me, what did you see?”
Vivian smiled like a little devil. “In my dream, your kingdom fell apart, and your former supporters defected to the Temple of the Celestial God. You were so angry that your spirit collapsed, and you died. Shirley buried you in a hidden town. It couldn’t be helped. After all, you offended so many people, and they all wanted to scatter your ashes.”
Looking at Hilna’s darkened face, Vivian laughed triumphantly. “But don’t worry, sister, they won’t be able to find your burial place. But I found it, so I righteously dug you up and scattered your ashes all over your grave. I was so happy that I even danced a few times. So, sister, aren’t you happy?”
Vivian laughed gleefully. This vicious woman in front of her had not only killed her beloved Kailun but had also wanted to marry her off to another country as a sacrificial lamb.
If it weren’t for Edlin’s rescue, she might have already committed suicide.
After being rescued, she had been following Dean Edlin and Shirley, wanting to help Edlin get revenge on the Temple of the Celestial God and also help Kailun.
But she was always a step too late, too late to save Kailun, too late to kill her sister Hilna with her own hands.
Helplessly, Vivian could only scatter Hilna’s ashes and dance on her grave. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to find peace.
She had made many efforts afterward, but those were things she couldn’t talk about.
Hilna: “…”
Hearing that her sister had not only scattered her ashes but had also danced on her grave, Hilna was furious.
But what angered her most was herself. After all her efforts, her final outcome was still a sudden death. This was even worse than being Kailun’s pet.
At least Kailun could build the Xiya Kingdom, while she could do nothing.
Touching her chest, Hilna wanted to feel her heart pounding with anger.
But because it was too full, she couldn’t feel anything.
Helplessly, she could only stand up and walk towards Vivian, filled with anger.
“Woman, your thoughts are dangerous.”
Vivian shrank her neck. She was exhausted and had no strength to resist.
“No, I just want to greet my lovely sister. Is there something wrong with that?”
Hilna walked up to Vivian, grabbed her by the back of her neck, and lifted her from the chair.
“Drip! Drip…”
Something dripped from Vivian’s knee-high socks onto the chair. Hilna looked closely and saw that it was pure white.
Along with the sound came a strange smell that overpowered the floral fragrance on Vivian.
Hilna, who had played many “games” with Kailun, naturally knew what it was.
Hilna: “…”
Vivian (Illusion): “…”
The air was deathly silent. The embarrassed illusion wanted to wake Vivian up.
She hadn’t expected to have such a slip-up. Now she had no face left.
To save her last shred of dignity, she blushed and explained, “You should know, I’m on my period. This is normal.”
“Hmph, just a promiscuous little girl. I thought you were something special.”
Hilna sneered and placed Vivian back on the sticky chair.
“Shut up, you pet!” Vivian (Illusion) gritted her teeth.
Hilna: “Sneaky cat! Lustful maniac! Exhibitionist!”
Vivian (Illusion): “Stupid woman! Scum of the kingdom! Incompetent fool!”
Hilna: “Two-faced brat! Slimy crawler!”
The sisters’ quarrel escalated, a complex competition.
With old and new grudges combined, it would probably take hours for them to finish.
……
Meanwhile, Kailun had everyone eat dinner first while he went to the study to summarize the day’s intelligence.
He had originally wanted to check on Vivian before leaving, but he had unexpectedly received a “bonus”. It was a pleasant surprise.
Busy until eleven o’clock at night, Kailun had Carol bring him dinner. After a simple meal, he instructed her on some important matters.
According to the original plan, he would show his face tomorrow morning and then leave the Royal City for Kuye Town.
Based on the timing, Dean Edlin would be back tomorrow morning, and he could instruct her on the next steps of the plan.
Under his surveillance, Paul and his group had already set off for Kuye Town, and Chrissy and the assassin girl had bought a mansion in the Royal City, intending to stay there for a long time.
The most interesting thing was that Fox and Chrissy had become neighbors. Their mansions were next to each other, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they fought.
But if they really fought, it would probably be a draw. Fox had two eighth-rank mages on her side, while Chrissy was a seventh-rank, and the assassin girl was an eighth-rank, but the assassin girl had a special advantage against Bella.
Based on the intelligence analysis, the assassin girl had successfully assassinated Bella in his past life.
However, even if she succeeded, her fate would probably be miserable. Seeing how afraid she was of Carol, one could tell what true restraint was.
As for the old Dragon King Bolton, he was staying alone in an inn. He was sending his people to investigate the Kuye Town that Kailun had mentioned, but he hadn’t received any news yet.
In addition, several other powerful figures were also under Kailun’s surveillance. They had obtained some information about Kuye Town through “rumors” and were currently hesitant about whether to go.
And poor Rose was in despair. She was staying in a girls’ dormitory at the Royal Magic Academy. It would probably take her a long time to recover from the afternoon’s experience.
After reorganizing his plans for the next few days, Kailun returned to his bedroom and took a bath.
Just as he was about to complete his daily tasks and have Afra pay her “apology fee,” Isabella knocked on his door.
“Knock, knock, knock!”
“Kailun, are you asleep? I just did a divination and found that Shirley’s fate has changed.”
It was 12:10 AM. Isabella’s voice came from outside the door.
Kailun, wearing a bathrobe, glanced at Afra and the other two who were chatting on the bed and sighed helplessly.
“Tell me, what exactly has changed, and why did it happen?”
Kailun opened the door and looked at Isabella, who was barely chest-high.
Isabella, wearing pajamas, showed Kailun the gold coin in her hand. “I just did another divination on Shirley as you requested, but I found that the safety she had before is gone. I don’t know what happened. It’s like an unexpected fluctuation has caused the original trajectory of fate to deviate. Fate has taken another step towards the unknown.”
Isabella’s voice was a bit anxious. This kind of thing had happened several times recently.
She didn’t know why it was happening, but she was certain that the person causing these changes wasn’t Kailun.
In order to understand fate, she had been closely observing Kailun and was therefore confident in her judgment.
“I understand. I’ll make some arrangements and set off immediately.”
Kailun nodded calmly. He didn’t panic because of the sudden change.
“Wait, can you take me with you?”
Just as Kailun was about to turn around and go back to his room to change, Isabella grabbed his hand.
Kailun looked at the petite girl in front of him. “This trip might be dangerous.”
Isabella spoke quickly. “I know, but this is a rare opportunity for me. I’m willing to take the risk. Aren’t you doing the same? You’re always taking risks.”
Looking at her determined eyes, Kailun smiled. “Good awareness, your mindset is quite good. I can take you with me. But I need to correct you. Although I’m a gambler, I’m not a pure gambler. A gambler can’t afford to lose even once, but I’m different.”
He patted Isabella’s head. “Go and change. I’ll see you in ten minutes.”
