Chapter 26: A Sudden Yin Wind, An Axe Severs Ties
This girl seemed to have just jinxed herself.
Lin Tianlu’s expression was strange, but seeing the girl’s fierce fighting spirit, he didn’t want to interrupt her.
“Hee hee hee~”
A ghostly laughter echoed through the cold cellar.
Lin Tianlu’s expression turned serious as he turned towards the female ghost.
Cheng Xinyin was slowly getting back to her feet, the wounds on her body healing as she was enveloped in a gray mist. Even her clothes were restored, her figure now resembling a graceful young lady, elegant and refined.
“To think he died so pathetically.”
She brushed back her long black hair, her face beautiful, a mocking smile on her red lips.
“I gave him most of my Yin energy, helping him become a ghost practitioner. Yet, with such power, he was easily defeated by a scholar. Truly a useless old fool.”
Although she shared a similar beauty with Cheng Yishi, their auras were completely different.
Hua Shuya’s expression hardened. “He was still your father.”
“Hah! Father?”
Cheng Xinyin let out a mocking laugh, her bloodshot eyes filled with chilling coldness.
“Such a weakling, how could he be my father?”
She flicked her sleeve, and a gray mist rose from Cheng Yanghua’s body, swirling into her sleeve.
Was that… Yin energy and the deceased’s soul?
Lin Tianlu was slightly surprised.
“Ah! This abundance of Yin energy, how refreshing.”
Cheng Xinyin sighed, spreading her arms wide. The Yin energy around her intensified, transforming into a chilling wind that swept through the cellar.
Her figure gradually blurred.
Then, she smiled at them, a seductive smile. “Why don’t you join him in death?”
As soon as she finished speaking, her long black hair suddenly shot out, lashing towards them like whips!
“Senior, watch out!”
Hua Shuya’s eyes narrowed, and she quickly stepped in front of Lin Tianlu, her sword flashing.
Azure sword light sliced through the air, severing the incoming strands of hair.
Cheng Xinyin’s figure disappeared into the shadows, vanishing completely from the cellar. But her laughter still echoed around them.
Whoosh—!
Countless silk ribbons swirled and intertwined throughout the cellar, weaving themselves into the strands of black hair.
In the blink of an eye, the dim cellar transformed into a spider’s lair, covered in white silk and tangled hair, leaving no escape.
Beads of sweat appeared on Hua Shuya’s forehead. Although her sword never stopped moving, the silk ribbons multiplied faster than she could cut them down. They attacked from all directions, seemingly endless!
“Ha!”
She twisted her waist, dodging several ribbons, and sensing a flicker of Yin energy, she shouted, her sword thrusting forward.
The sharp blade sliced through the silk above her, creating a hole in the cellar ceiling.
But…
“Such impressive swordsmanship~”
A seductive voice echoed through the cellar as the silk ribbons quickly repaired the hole.
“But what good is your swordsmanship if you can’t hit me? You’re just wasting your energy.”
“Damn it!”
Hua Shuya gritted her teeth, frustration filling her voice as she scanned her surroundings.
She had cleared a small space with her sword, but she was still trapped…
She couldn’t find the ghost’s hiding place. She could swing her sword all day and still achieve nothing.
Snap!
Lin Tianlu suddenly reached out and grabbed a silk ribbon that was about to strike Hua Shuya, effortlessly tearing it apart.
Hua Shuya’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly refocused.
“Hey—”
But then, Lin Tianlu looked up and shouted, “Are you really going to continue resisting?”
“Hmph! You scholar… do you think I’m as foolish as that Evil Spirit, easily defeated by you?”
A cold voice echoed through the cellar. “Even with your righteous energy and immunity to Yin energy, I’ll wear you down. We’ll see who has more stamina. You won’t escape this cellar, no matter what tricks you use!”
She was planning a war of attrition?
Lin Tianlu casually waved his hand, hearing the faint snap of several hairs breaking.
These weren’t illusions, but solid threads of Yin energy.
Moving recklessly in this environment would only lead to being caught off guard. The layers of silk and hair had completely sealed the cellar, leaving no escape. This place had become a demonic prison.
As the Yin energy seeped into her body, Hua Shuya’s breathing became labored, her face paling.
Cheng Xinyin’s mocking voice rang out again.
“How boring. I thought you would last longer.”
“Shut up!”
Hua Shuya swung her sword, severing another ribbon.
But the Yin energy swirled around them, making it impossible for her to pinpoint the ghost’s location, even with her focused mind.
“You seem quite anxious. Could it be that you don’t want your precious scholar to get hurt?”
Cheng Xinyin’s voice seemed to seep into her mind, her tone seductive, deliberately provoking her anxiety.
“Can you really keep this up? Can you truly… save him from this place?”
Hua Shuya’s frustration and self-blame grew with every word.
But then, Lin Tianlu gently patted her shoulder.
“Miss Hua, don’t let her words disturb your mind. The worst thing you can do in a sword fight is to lose your composure.”
“Senior…”
“Foolish scholar! Do you think you have any way to defeat me? I’ve observed you carefully. You do have some surprising skills, but what good will they do?” Cheng Xinyin laughed. “This is my domain. Every strand of hair, every ribbon of silk, is part of my body. You’ll never find my true form!”
“I’m just curious, why would your family, living a comfortable life with wealth and status in Changling County, resort to such cruel and inhumane acts?” Lin Tianlu asked calmly. “And why have you become a malevolent ghost, terrorizing the living?”
“You ask me why—”
Cheng Xinyin’s mocking laughter echoed through the cellar. “It’s simply the natural order of things!”
“…”
Lin Tianlu was silent for a moment, then sighed. “It seems there’s no point in talking anymore.”
He ignored the ghost’s taunts and focused his mind, his eyes scanning the surroundings.
Countless strands of hair and silk ribbons filled his vision, creating a hazy mist. But within the mist, a denser cloud of energy stood out, slowly drifting.
This was just a simple game of hide-and-seek.
“Your time is up.”
Lin Tianlu’s expression was indifferent as he reached out and clenched his fist.
In the next moment, a surge of spiritual energy erupted from the ground, transforming into countless sword beams that instantly sliced through the surrounding silk and hair!
A fierce wind swept through the cellar, engulfing Cheng Xinyin’s frozen figure.
“Ugh—”
The ribbons shattered into countless fragments, fluttering down like snowflakes.
Cheng Xinyin’s true form was revealed, her face still etched with shock and confusion, as if she hadn’t realized what had happened.
Then, she looked down and saw, to her horror, that her body… was torn to shreds!
“N-no, this is impossible—!”
Terror gripped her, erasing any trace of amusement. She turned to flee.
This scholar… was far more terrifying than she had imagined!
But at that moment, a figure emerged from the shadows of the corridor.
Cheng Xinyin’s eyes lit up with hope. “Sister!”
The figure stumbling towards them was Cheng Yishi, her ankle still injured.
But she was carrying a heavy axe, dragging it across the ground with difficulty.
“Sister! Save me! That crazy scholar is trying to kill me! Please beg him to spare me!”
Cheng Xinyin rushed towards her—
Thud!
A flash of cold light, and the female ghost was cleaved in two by the axe.
A look of shock lingered on her shattered face, as if she hadn’t expected to die like this.
Hua Shuya, who had been about to give chase, stopped abruptly, her face filled with astonishment.
Her sister had attacked her own sister?
And now, Cheng Yishi was surrounded by Yin energy… Could she be the true mastermind behind this?!
Even Lin Tianlu was surprised. The faint Yin energy that had been clinging to Cheng Yishi was now surging, her aura becoming as menacing as a powerful ghost!
One step, two steps…
Cheng Yishi walked towards them silently, glancing at Cheng Yanghua’s lifeless body.
Lin Tianlu’s gaze hardened, his expression serious. “Miss Cheng, are you planning to avenge your father?”
But what happened next stunned both Lin Tianlu and Hua Shuya.
Clang—!
She dropped the heavy axe to the ground, her gaze calm.
“—Mr. Lin.”
Cheng Yishi parted her lips and knelt down, her head bowed, her voice soft.
“Please… grant me death.”
“…”
