After Failing to Find Immortality 154

Chapter 154: A Pleasant Daily Life

Yun Yue quickly put down her teacup, her voice serious. “Tianlu, what kind of enemy did you encounter? Why is there such a strange aura on you?”

Lin Tianlu looked back at her, surprised. “You can sense it, Miss Yun Yue?”

“It’s faint, but distinct.”

“It’s this.”

He took out the black jade from his sleeve.

“I met a strange old man in the bamboo grove outside the city. He called this a ‘Demon Seed.’ Do you know anything about it?”

“Let me see.”

Yun Yue beckoned with her hand, drawing the black jade into her palm. She examined it carefully.

After a long silence, she shook her head.

“I’ve never seen this before. It must be a new technique or artifact created by demons and ghosts within the past thousand years.”

“And its purpose—”

“It’s strange.”

She murmured thoughtfully. “It seems to be filled with tiny, corrosive techniques and a strange, profound aura. It could have a significant impact on both mortals and demons and ghosts.”

“Not long ago, Miss Cheng’s younger sister was affected by this. Her personality changed drastically, she became seductive and cruel, her words sharp and venomous, completely different from her usual self. Her body became incredibly strong, and she even learned to use Yin techniques, controlling a strange black mist.”

Lin Tianlu stroked his chin. “Judging by that old man’s demeanor, he seemed to be using the Demon Seed’s power to achieve some goal… something related to the so-called thousand-year tribulation?”

“The thousand-year tribulation?”

“I wanted to ask you about that.”

“I hadn’t heard of it before I was sealed in the Netherworld.”

Yun Yue pondered for a moment, then shook her head. “But there were many conflicts and wars a thousand years ago. I was ambushed and sealed during that time. Perhaps the thousand-year tribulation he mentioned is related to those conflicts.”

She paused, then put the black jade away. “Tianlu, let me keep this for now and study it.”

“You want to unravel its secrets?”

“All Yin techniques are based on the same principles. Even if they’re trying to create something new, I can still learn something from this Demon Seed.”

Yun Yue tapped her forehead. “Although I was trapped in the Netherworld for nine hundred years, I still know a thing or two about analyzing Yin techniques.”

Lin Tianlu smiled. “With your help, I’m much more at ease.”

“Before you praise me, why don’t you go and comfort Ruoyu and Yishi?” Yun Yue smiled warmly. “You three should have a good talk tonight.”

“Ah…”

Lin Tianlu froze, scratching his head awkwardly.

He walked towards the corner of the courtyard, where the two women were huddled, and placed his hands on their shoulders.

“Ugh!”

Mao Ruoyu and Cheng Yishi jumped in surprise, their faces flushed as they turned to look at him.

“S-Sir?!”

“What were you two talking about?”

Seeing their adorable expressions, Lin Tianlu chuckled. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“N-nothing!”

They both answered quickly.

After a moment of awkward silence, Cheng Yishi coughed lightly, regaining her composure.

“Sir, you must be tired from your journey. Would you like to rest and have dinner?”

“—Ah!”

Mao Ruoyu suddenly exclaimed and rushed towards the kitchen, her face panicked. “My noodles!”

Cheng Yishi watched her go, speechless.

She hadn’t expected Madam Mao to be so forgetful.

“No wonder there’s a strange smell.” Lin Tianlu chuckled helplessly and took Cheng Yishi’s hand. “Miss Cheng, would you like to sit in the main hall for a while, or…”

“Let’s go to the kitchen.”

Cheng Yishi gathered her hair, her eyes soft. “We can’t let Madam do all the work alone.”

“Alright, then let’s make dinner together tonight!”

The next morning…

Lin Tianlu stepped out of his room, feeling refreshed and energized. Looking at the clear and bright sky, he sighed contentedly.

After several days of traveling, it was good to be home.

And he was especially pleased that he had spent the previous night with Madam Mao and Miss Cheng, enjoying a warm and intimate dinner, their relationship growing closer.

He was fortunate to have met such kind and understanding women in this life. They were tolerant and considerate, and they got along well.

He felt a little guilty for all the trouble he had caused them.

Clang

The sound of a sword cry rang out.

He looked over to see Hua Shuya practicing her swordsmanship, her graceful figure moving through the courtyard, as diligent as ever.

He walked over to the veranda and saw Yun Yue leaning lazily against the railing, her eyes half-closed, dozing off. Her fluffy fox tails swayed gently behind her, a picture of contentment.

“Mmm… Tianlu, you’re awake?”

She smiled faintly, seemingly unconcerned about her exposed skin. “How was your night with the two beauties?”

“It was good.”

“I thought… you three would have a passionate night together.”

“Ahem! That would be too hasty. I’m just glad that Madam and Miss Cheng are getting along.”

Yun Yue smiled warmly, her voice soft and lazy. “You truly cherish their feelings.”

Seeing her relaxed demeanor, Lin Tianlu chuckled. “Has this place awakened your memories from the dream realm?”

“Yes, I spent several months sleeping on this veranda. I remember it well.” Yun Yue stretched and smiled. “It’s just as comfortable as I remembered.

And this warm sunshine, after a thousand years… It makes me feel so happy and content. My entire being feels like it’s melting.”

“I’m glad you’re enjoying life here.”

Lin Tianlu couldn’t help but reach out and stroke her fluffy tails, swaying before him.

“But can you maintain this form indefinitely?”

“The Yin energy I absorbed in the Path of the Netherworld is fading. I might have to adjust my form soon and restrain my demonic aura.” Yun Yue’s eyelashes fluttered, and she smiled softly. “So why don’t you enjoy my beautiful tails while you can, Tianlu? If you like, you can even take a nap in them. I’ll hold you tight.”

“Thank you for the offer.”

Lin Tianlu chuckled.

Her fox tails were incredibly soft and smooth, each strand shimmering with a moonlight glow, beautiful and captivating. And their fluffy texture was irresistible.

“I understand now why scholars are so fond of fox spirits.”

He couldn’t help but sigh.

Forget about their seductive beauty.

Just their tails… he could probably pet them all day long.

“Hehe~”

Hearing his praise, Yun Yue’s smile widened, and she swayed her tails even more enticingly.

“But I’m curious about your anatomy, Miss Yun Yue.”

Lin Tianlu stroked her tails towards their base. “Are these really extensions of your spine?”

“Technically, I’m only a half-demon, with a demonic bloodline. These tails are mostly manifestations of Yin energy and demonic power.”

As she explained, Yun Yue suddenly trembled and let out a soft moan, her face flushing slightly. “Don’t… touch me there… It’s… sensitive…”

Lin Tianlu chuckled awkwardly and quickly withdrew his hand. “But you said they were manifestations of Yin energy…”

“That’s because… I’m a fox. I can easily retract my tails.” Yun Yue leaned against the railing, her eyes sparkling mischievously. “A true fox demon can’t hide her tails so easily.”

Interesting.

As Lin Tianlu pondered this newfound knowledge, Yun Yue’s crescent moon eyes twinkled with amusement. “Sir, we didn’t have time to play Go in the carriage yesterday. Are you interested in a game now?”

“Go?”

Lin Tianlu looked down to see a Go board resting on Yun Yue’s crossed legs.

“I was looking forward to playing with you, Sir, so I couldn’t resist setting up the board.”

She picked up a white stone from between her thighs and twirled it between her fingers, smiling. “You showed remarkable skill in the dream realm, Sir. Now I can’t wait to see your true strength in reality.”

“Since you’re so enthusiastic, Miss Yun Yue, I’ll gladly accept the challenge.”

Lin Tianlu smiled and took the box of stones offered by her tail.

After setting up the board, he made the first move.

“Mmm~ Not bad!”

Yun Yue’s smile widened, and she placed her stone on the board.

About half an hour later…

Yun Yue lay sprawled on the veranda, her hair disheveled, her tails drooping. She raised her hand shakily. “I-I lost…”

“Good game.”
