Chapter 2: Have Some Water
That was the power of her Yin Body, wasn’t it? She’s incredibly skilled.
Yan Zhen was astonished.
According to the script, at this stage, Yi Xian’er wouldn’t dare use her Yin Body’s power, because it could trigger a premature outburst, which was incredibly dangerous.
“Xian’er, are you alright?”
She shook her head.
“These guys are no match for me.”
— I’m asking if you’re okay after using your Yin Body’s power.
“Let’s go, before their reinforcements arrive.”
“Mmm, they might be weaklings, but dealing with them is still a hassle.”
He grimaced. The Wild Gang’s leader was a Three Star Mystic Scholar. With his current strength, defeating him would be difficult. His Burst Deck was still on cooldown. He would have to deal with the Wild Gang later.
He glanced at Kuang Sheng, lying on the ground, convulsing, his face turning purple, the Yin poison coursing through his body. He was dying.
The other gang members were in similar condition.
In the script, Kuang Sheng was supposed to be killed while chasing him… Why does Xian’er always steal the show? Sigh~
…
They left the scene, a trail of bodies behind them, heading straight for the Demon Dragon Mountain Range.
The Demon Dragon Mountain Range was said to have been formed from the corpse of a Demon Dragon from the Outer World. The Mystic Beasts within carried a trace of the Demon Dragon’s bloodline, making them fiercer and more aggressive than those found elsewhere. They attacked almost anyone on sight.
After passing through a dense forest, they officially entered the mountain range, quickly encountering their first wave of Mystic Beast attacks.
Although they were just Tier 1 Mystic Beasts, they didn’t underestimate them, carefully repelling and killing them before continuing their journey.
They were currently in the outer region of the Demon Dragon Mountain Range’s middle section, where most of the Mystic Beasts were Tier 1 or Tier 2, with few Tier 3 beasts. Therefore, it wasn’t particularly dangerous for them, as long as they avoided groups of Tier 2 beasts and the occasional Tier 3 beast.
Besides the Mystic Beasts, the miasma within the mountains was also a significant threat.
However, this only applied to ordinary hunters and adventurers. Both he and Yi Xian’er were immune to it.
He could use his Gold and Silver Fire for protection, while she, with her Natural Yin Body, was naturally immune.
Well, not entirely. Miasma was simply a weaker form of Yin energy. Excessive exposure could still trigger a premature outburst of her Yin Body.
In the script, it was her constant exposure to miasma while guiding him through the mountains that had caused her Yin Body to go out of control, forcing her to leave.
Thinking about this, he suddenly felt reluctant to have her guide him. She would lose control during the outburst, suffering immense pain.
And when she regained her senses, realizing she had hurt him, she would be consumed by guilt and self-blame.
“Xian’er, how are you feeling?”
She turned to him, smiling faintly.
“I’m fine. What’s wrong, Yan Zhen? You’ve been asking me that since earlier.”
He looked away, feeling awkward. “We’ve been walking for two hours. I was wondering if you’re tired.”
“I often come here to gather herbs. I’m used to it.” She glanced at him. “But maybe we should take a break. There’s a clearing over there.”
He nodded.
…
They sat on a tree stump the size of a washbasin. He retrieved two water pouches from his storage ring, offering one to her.
“Have some water.”
She blinked, her voice soft.
“Can I… drink from yours?”
He shook the pouch.
“Mmm, here you go.”
She didn’t take it. Instead, she cupped his face, her lips capturing his in a gentle kiss.
Her lips, soft and smooth like jelly, enveloped his upper lip, her tongue skillfully exploring his mouth.
He froze, his mind blanking for a moment, then he tried to push her away, but his hands were occupied with the water pouches. He didn’t know what to do.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, savoring his saliva before finally releasing him.
Their lips parted, their faces flushed, their breaths mingling. Their eyes met, their faces inches apart, their breaths intermingling.
He was speechless.
“I didn’t mean for you to drink my saliva!”
She looked at him innocently.
“? But that’s what you said~”
Even middle schoolers wouldn’t play such childish word games! He glared at her, tossing the water pouch onto her lap.
“Drink it or don’t. I don’t care.”
“Hmm~”
She picked up the pouch, unstoppering it, taking small sips, her movements elegant.
He took a large gulp, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, then asked, “How much further?”
“About half an hour.” She pointed in a direction. “There’s a cave over there.”
…
After resting for a while, they continued their journey, arriving at the cave half an hour later.
Or rather, a snake’s lair.
It had been inhabited by a Tier 3 Scarlet Snake, its strength comparable to a Mystic Scholar, but now, only a pile of ashes remained, the snake’s head barely recognizable.
Deep within the lair was a chasm. Peering into its depths, he saw only darkness.
However, he knew this chasm led to the Demon Dragon Mountain Range’s underground fire veins, the pathways through which the Evil Spirit Dragon Breath Fire traveled.
What had happened here was obvious:
The Evil Spirit Dragon Breath Fire had suddenly emerged from the underground fire veins, incinerating the Scarlet Snake, then lingered for a while, transforming some of the surrounding crystals into Evil Scale Fire Crystals.
After it left, Yi Xian’er, gathering herbs, had stumbled upon the lair, noticing the unusual crystals embedded in the walls, extracting them, and taking them back with her.
He could picture the scene clearly.
He retrieved the Evil Scale Fire Crystal his Beautiful Sect Master had refined, channeling Mystic Power into it. The scale-like crystal transformed into a small, gray, translucent dragon, coiling around his palm, resembling a gachapon toy.
He tossed the miniature dragon into the chasm, letting it track the Evil Spirit Dragon Breath Fire’s aura, sending back location updates.
A single miniature dragon could last for three days. He had five Evil Scale Fire Crystals. In other words, if he couldn’t find the flame within half a month, he was out of luck.
He clapped his hands, gesturing for her to leave.
To his surprise, she didn’t ask any questions, seemingly uninterested in the clue he had found or his actions. He couldn’t even use his prepared lines. He could only continue with the main task.
“Are there any other locations? If not, you should head back, Xian’er.”
After all, excessive exposure to miasma could trigger a premature outburst of her Yin Body.
However, she blinked. “There are a few more.”
Huh? Didn’t you only come here to obtain the Evil Scale Fire Crystals? There are more?
“Mmm, I’ll take you there.”
They had searched for the Evil Spirit Dragon Breath Fire together in her previous life. She naturally knew where it had appeared before.
