Chapter 40: Negative Luck Value
Luo Yuxi looked at the vast forest. Although they had successfully escaped Apal, taking Xia directly to the Holy War might get them both arrested as traitors.
“We should go to the Witch Kingdom. I don’t know if Little Yu and Little Yun are worried, but if we join forces, I’ll have more protection…”
Luo Yuxi pondered, then looked at the sign pointing towards the Witch Kingdom and hesitated. What if they triggered some game event and were attacked by monsters?

Xia’s unquestioning trust made Luo Yuxi blush. She hadn’t expected Xia to trust her so easily after just meeting her. She was even more determined to protect her.

Luo Yuxi mentally berated herself. Xia, seeing her sudden remorse, simply followed, silently scanning their surroundings. Luo Yuxi nudged her. This was a forest near the Church, there shouldn’t be any danger.

Luo Yuxi couldn’t believe it. She had just encountered two impossible creatures in a row. As she was about to turn back, the tentacles in the river stirred, as if sensing something.
“Not good! Xia, run!”
Luo Yuxi sighed. As expected of the protagonist, triggering lewd events everywhere. It must be her constitution that attracted these things.
“The protagonist’s charm is too dangerous. If she stays away, I should be—”
Before Luo Yuxi could finish her thought, a tentacle wrapped around her waist.
“Eh?”
Luo Yuxi was pulled towards the river. So the octopus wasn’t after Xia, but her. She panicked and struggled, the wet, slimy tentacles and their suckers disgusting her.
“This isn’t right! Why me?!”

Luo Yuxi looked at the panel, afraid to even move, in case she triggered another trap.

Luo Yuxi racked her brain, then looked up and saw Xia, bathed in a golden light, her figure seemingly larger than life.
