Chapter 38: Stunning Love
Alone? At the Roblensa Market?
Loseweisse’s heart skipped a beat.
Angelica was alone, away from the Hero’s residence, her collar suppressing her magic…
She swallowed, her throat tightening.
A thought, dangerous and tempting, ignited within her mind.
She wanted to leave immediately, to seize this opportunity, but that would be too suspicious. She had to remain calm, to continue her conversation with Qin Chu, though her mind was already elsewhere.
She waited until Ekaterina was about to begin Qin Chu’s training, then stood up to leave.
As she reached the door, she paused, turning back to face Qin Chu, her voice hesitant. There was a question she had been wanting to ask, a question that had been gnawing at her for days.
“Hero-sama…”
Her brow furrowed slightly as she searched for the right words.
“At the banquet… why didn’t you choose me? Why did you choose Angelica instead?”
“You know… I was the one mentioned in the divine prophecy… your destined lover…”
This was a wound that refused to heal.
She was a skilled actress. Her face, a mask of sadness and vulnerability, perfectly captured the image of a heartbroken maiden, rejected by the man she loved.
Ekaterina, in comparison, was a novice. They weren’t even in the same league.
Loseweisse needed to know why she had been deemed unworthy.
Qin Chu hadn’t expected her to be so fixated on this. He took a deep breath, suppressing his urge to call her out on her hypocrisy, his gaze meeting hers.
“Unworthy,” he said, his voice low.
Loseweisse gasped, her body trembling. A surge of murderous rage coursed through her.
“Are you saying that I’m unworthy of you?”
“No, Lady Loseweisse, you misunderstand. It’s not that you’re unworthy of me. It’s that I’m unworthy of you.”
Qin Chu, abandoning all pretense, uttered words that made even him feel nauseous.
“You’re so beautiful, so pure, so kind…”
“I feel ashamed in your presence. I fear that even breathing the same air as you might taint your purity…”
“If you were my lover, I might lose control, I might do something terrible to you. I don’t want to hurt you,” he said, his voice sincere.
It was his insecurity, just as she had suspected.
She had already arrived at this conclusion, so she readily accepted his explanation.
She felt a surge of relief, followed by a wave of elation. It wasn’t that she was inferior to Angelica. It was that she was too beautiful, too perfect, a dazzling sun that threatened to burn this insecure man.
Her confidence returned, stronger than ever.
Of course, it made sense. How could she possibly be less desirable than Angelica?
Qin Chu’s response bolstered her confidence in her plan to win him over. She just had to lower herself a little, to beckon him with a single finger, and he would come running like a dog.
She lowered her head, her golden hair cascading around her shoulders. Her slender figure bowed gracefully, her white hands lifting the hem of her robes.
“Hero-sama, you mustn’t think so little of yourself. You are the most extraordinary Hero.”
“This might not be your homeland, but you’re willing to fight for this world. Your noble spirit is admirable, your talent unmatched. You are the most exceptional person I know.”
“It is I, Loseweisse, who is unworthy of you.”
“But I will strive to become a woman worthy of standing by your side.”
Her words were carefully chosen.
She hadn’t uttered a single word of love.
But her tone, her demeanor, conveyed a clear message: I admire you. I respect you. Perhaps… I even have feelings for you.
Any man, hearing those words, would react the same way Qin Chu did, his face a mixture of surprise, joy, and disbelief.
Loseweisse, sensing his vulnerability, decided to retreat. She bid him farewell and returned to her chambers.
Alone in her white, empty room, her mask finally slipped, revealing a cruel smile, her eyes gleaming with malice and cunning.
Qin Chu, that fool, had inadvertently revealed a crucial piece of information: Angelica was alone, at the Roblensa Market…
This was the perfect opportunity to eliminate her.
Her previous attempt to kill Angelica had been thwarted by Augustus. Should she seize this chance…
No… It was too risky.
She quickly dismissed the idea.
Qin Chu had told her about Angelica’s whereabouts. Though many people must have seen Angelica on her way to the market, suspicion would still fall upon her.
It would jeopardize her plan to seduce Qin Chu.
Now that they had a clear strategy for resurrecting Jie Luo, she wouldn’t risk any unnecessary complications.
But the thought of what Ekaterina had endured, the sacrifices she had made to seduce Qin Chu, sent shivers down her spine. She couldn’t bear the thought of that man touching her.
Her body was pure, reserved for Jie Luo. No one else deserved her touch.
The thought of Jie Luo brought tears to her eyes.
She opened a drawer in her silver desk, retrieving a framed magical image.
Ah, Jie Luo…
You are so captivating.
I will never let that filthy man replace you.
If only there was a way to turn Qin Chu into her loyal slave…
A thought struck her.
She opened another drawer, retrieving a metal box sealed with magic. Inside, seven vials filled with a shimmering pink liquid glowed softly.
These were her special concoction.
The ingredients were rare and precious. She had only managed to create seven vials.
Besides the various exotic components, the potion required a more… personal touch: the creator’s bodily fluids, blood, and saliva.
A single golden curl, suspended within the liquid, swirled gently within each vial.
The potion had a beautiful name: Stunning Love.
One vial per week.
Any man who consumed Stunning Love for seven consecutive weeks would fall hopelessly in love with the potion’s creator, becoming their devoted slave…
Wasn’t this the perfect solution?
