Chapter 33: The Bishop
A sudden voice interrupted their conversation. Luo Yuxi’s heart sank as she saw a group of girls in silver armor approaching, the Divine Punishment Army’s banner fluttering in the wind. Being caught by them was no different from being caught by witches.
“I am Luo Yuxi, a Direct Nun of the Church, in charge of the southern border church…”
Luo Yuxi had expected the Divine Punishment Army to investigate after the witches caused such a commotion, but she hadn’t expected them to arrive so quickly. She could only hope her identity would prevent a thorough inspection.
“That scared me! It’s our own people. I thought it was four witches…”
“We might not even survive encountering one, let alone four~”
“Luo Yuxi? Isn’t she the Direct Nun who was kidnapped by witches?!”
…
Luo Yuxi approached slowly, sensing the army’s lowered vigilance upon recognizing her identity. Yun Keke’s eyes shone as she looked at the neatly arranged soldiers, while Yu Keke nervously clutched Luo Yuxi’s clothes, as if seeking comfort.
“It seems things are still under control. Fortunately, it’s just the Divine Punishment Army, no bishops…”
“So you escaped on your own. Headquarters wanted to send me to rescue you under the guise of investigation…”
A voice behind Luo Yuxi made her jump. She turned and saw a girl in white robes with a golden cross, and she wanted to slap her past self. She had only casually mentioned it, and now a bishop had actually appeared.
“May the Goddess watch over you. Thank you for coming to my rescue, Bishop…”
Luo Yuxi didn’t let her guard down, even though the girl looked shorter than her. In the game, these characters were just quest-giving NPCs, but here, they could fight witches one-on-one.
[Yuehua Fengyun]
Occupation: Bishop
Affiliation: Church
Skills: ???
Title: Seat of Mercy, One of the 12 Bishops
Affection: 20%
Order Level: 3rd Order
“Wow~ Your clothes are so pretty~”
Before Luo Yuxi could figure out how to deal with the bishop, Yun Keke had already approached her, touching her clothes. Luo Yuxi’s heart leaped into her throat.
“Hey, what are you doing?! Don’t just touch other people’s clothes!”
Yuehua Fengyun was annoyed. Since becoming a bishop, she was always the one doing the scrutinizing. This little girl dared to touch her clothes! She was about to reprimand Yun Keke when Luo Yuxi quickly stepped in front of her.
“Bishop, my sister apologizes for her rudeness. She probably hasn’t seen such beautiful clothes before…”
Luo Yuxi was afraid Yuehua Fengyun would say something that would provoke Yun Keke into revealing her identity. Then, not only would their plan to infiltrate the Church fail, but Luo Yuxi might also be accused of harboring witches.
“You…! Forget it. My mission is to investigate the situation here and bring you back if possible. Now that the mission is complete, there’s no need to stay…”
Yuehua Fengyun waved her hand dismissively. Luo Yuxi hadn’t expected her to let it go so easily. In her memory, Yuehua Fengyun, as a quest-giving NPC, had given her a hard time, especially during the job change quest to become a Saintess, which required the approval of all 12 bishops.
Yuehua Fengyun’s obsessive pursuit of perfection had caused Luo Yuxi to fail the quest multiple times. Yuehua Fengyun wasn’t in a good mood either. She had been slacking off at headquarters when she was suddenly assigned this investigation mission, a task beneath her status as a bishop. But for some reason, seeing Luo Yuxi’s slightly vulnerable expression, her frustration dissipated.
“7th Squadron of the Divine Punishment Army! Retreat!”
Luo Yuxi watched the Divine Punishment Army retreat and breathed a sigh of relief. Although the process had been bumpy, she had managed to get through it. Suddenly, the squadron captain dropped a disc-shaped device. Yun Keke, seeing this, called out to her.
“Hey! You dropped something!”
Yun Keke picked up the disc. The captain rushed over and took it from her, about to thank her, when the disc started flashing red.
“Huh? What’s this? Why is it flashing red?”
“This is a witch identification device. A flashing red light means…”
The captain looked at the device in confusion. Luo Yuxi, overhearing their conversation, almost fainted. She had recognized the device the moment Yun Keke picked it up, but it was too late to stop her.
“Yun Keke! Just… give it back to her. Some things are better left unsaid…”
“But it keeps flashing red, I thought it was broken…”
Luo Yuxi pleaded with Yun Keke to stay away from the device, but Yu Keke, seeing her sister’s confusion, couldn’t contain her curiosity and walked over. The captain felt a headache coming on.
“There are three witches nearby… is this thing broken? I just got it yesterday…”
The vice-captain, seeing this, walked over and looked at the flashing disc, chuckling. A single witch was difficult to deal with, let alone three, especially within detection range. Their squadron wouldn’t be enough.
“It must be broken. There’s nowhere to hide around here.”
“You’re right. We’ll have to report it for repairs…”
Seeing them return to their ranks, Luo Yuxi breathed a sigh of relief. She quickly approached the two lolis and flicked them on their foreheads.
“Ouch~”
“Whimper…”
Normally, Luo Yuxi wouldn’t dare provoke witches, but if she let these two run wild, she would have a heart attack.
“From now on, you two must cooperate fully and obey my commands 100%, or you’ll never see your mother again!”
The threat worked. Yun Keke and Yu Keke instantly became obedient, following behind Luo Yuxi. Luo Yuxi sighed. From today onwards, the number of ticking time bombs around her had increased from one to two. She didn’t know if this was a good thing or a bad thing. Meanwhile, back at the church, a white-haired girl opened the door.
“Strange, where did everyone go?”
