Chapter 10: I Never Pretend
Suddenly, a thin man pulled his wife in front of Dong Fei, forcing a flattering smile. “Brother Dong, this is my wife. I want to trade her for two bottles of water.”
His words drew laughter from the surrounding men.
One of them pointed at the man’s wife. “You think your old hag is worth two bottles of mineral water? Get lost.”
“Then one, one bottle is enough. My wife is clean, untouched.”
The man excitedly held up a finger, his dry lips trembling as he pulled his wife closer to Dong Fei. The woman’s hair was dirty and tangled, unwashed for over ten days, and she emanated a strange odor.
Dong Fei snapped, “Get out! If you want food and drink, go get it yourself!”
This frail man would likely be beaten to death if he went outside.
“It’s all your fault! Why didn’t you go and fight for food?”
The wife suddenly whispered.
Her words ignited the man’s anger. He grabbed her hair. “What use are you? You can’t even be traded for a bottle of water!”
“Are you even a man?! You heartless bastard, I’ll bite you to death!”
The woman bit her husband’s arm. The pain made him kick her, then he continued kicking her head.
“You say I’m heartless? At a time like this, you’re still worried about washing your face? I’ll wash it for you! I’ll wash it for you!”
The wife’s face was stained with blood. She had been struggling, but now she was still, kicked to death.
The man looked at his wife, his face pale, as if suddenly realizing what he had done. He knelt beside her body. “Wife, wife, I didn’t mean to, I was wrong.”
However, no one around him showed any sympathy. They had seen all kinds of deaths in these past few days.
Behind the rolling shutter of Building Four, Ding Feng had gathered more than twenty strong young men, mostly residents. Each one had a cigarette in his mouth, waiting for the right moment. Pliers were at the ready. As soon as Ding Feng gave the order, they would break into Building Three, overpower Dong Fei’s group, and seize their supplies.
But if they did this, the fragile order of the complex would be shattered again. The other buildings would also be on guard, and they wouldn’t even have a chance to drive out.
“Alright, let me say a few words.”
Seeing that neither Ning Gu nor Tang Ze had appeared, Dong Fei jumped off the car hood and addressed the crowd.
Just as he started speaking, the elevator dinged, and the doors slowly opened.
Tang Ze stepped out, dressed in casual clothes. Dong Fei hadn’t had a chance to observe him closely before, but now he did. He looked like an ordinary young man, the type who wouldn’t dare to kill anyone.
Suddenly, Dong Fei saw the people behind Tang Ze.
The next scene made everyone’s dry lips part slightly. Some even rubbed their eyes, thinking they were dreaming.
Two exquisitely beautiful women stepped out in high heels. Their faces showed no signs of weakness, instead flushed with a healthy glow. Their fair skin looked as if it had been washed daily, like ripe peaches.
Seeing the two women’s attire, the men swallowed hard.
Both wore cat-ear headbands and alluring cat-themed outfits. Their captivating figures, especially their hourglass waists, bombarded every man’s senses. White stockings showcased their long, slender legs to perfection.
At a time like this, two such stunning women appeared. The scene was silent. The other women present were instantly overshadowed, not even worthy of carrying their shoes.
And yet, these two celestial beings were following a delivery guy.
It was a complete paradigm shift.
The men looked at the women beside them, then at Sun Ting and An Bai. They weren’t on the same level at all. Look at how smooth their hair was, how radiant their skin was, compared to the dirty, haggard women beside them.
Sun Ting and An Bai were truly captivating today. Sun Ting wore a white version of the outfit, An Bai a pink one. The impact was extraordinary. Sun Ting was 168cm tall, her long legs on full display, and An Bai, at 169cm, also showed off her smooth, slender legs.
They walked with a confident, alluring gait. Before the apocalypse, they would have drawn stares. Now, in the apocalypse, they still drew stares, but for different reasons.
Sun Ting walked with confidence, showcasing her stunning figure, enjoying the men’s greedy yet unattainable gazes. An Bai, beside her, was much more shy, her beautiful eyes filled with nervousness and fear. But it was this delicate, pitiful appearance that drove the men around them wild.
“Isn’t that the streamer? She’s with the delivery guy?”
“That delivery guy must have a lot of supplies hoarded at home. Why didn’t we think of that?”
“The flight attendant! That’s the flight attendant! Damn, her rich boyfriend must be dead.”
Everyone understood. He had brought out the only two beautiful women in the building.
Dong Fei watched Tang Ze approach and couldn’t help but chuckle. “If you had stayed hidden, no one would have known. Bringing them out like this to show off, have you considered the consequences?”
“Consequences? What consequences? Why don’t you show me?”
Tang Ze said to Dong Fei with a smile.
People from the two neighboring buildings came to watch the commotion, whistling and shouting.
“Hey, bro, how much for the women? Will you sell them for three bottles of water?”
“Three bottles of water? I’ll offer a whole case! Give me those two.”
Suddenly, a sleazy man approached Sun Ting and reached out to touch her arm, a lewd expression on his dirty face.
Tang Ze instantly drew the horse-slaying saber from his waist and, with a smile, swung it down.
The dirty hand fell to the ground, and the man’s body slowly slid in half from his waist, his internal organs spilling out.
Everyone was stunned by Tang Ze’s ruthlessness. How strong must he be to cleave a man in two with one stroke?
He’s got some skills. No wonder he dared to bring two such beauties out to show off.
Tang Ze flicked his wrist, flinging the blood from the blade onto the ground, forming a line. He then said seriously, “Touching my food supply is the same as cutting off my lifeline. The only consequence is death.”
Everyone looked at each other, then at Dong Fei.
If they could take out this delivery guy, even just a chance with those two women would be worth dying for. Better to die a happy ghost than a starving one.
Sun Ting breathed a sigh of relief. She knew Tang Ze wasn’t someone who liked to show off. If he did, he would have brought her out long ago. Looking at the pile of gore beside her, she felt disgusted.
