Chapter 9: Time to Make an Appearance
Ning Gu couldn’t understand. He had done as Tang Ze asked, so why did he still kill him?
Tang Ze’s reasoning was that he wouldn’t allow threats to grow; he would nip them in the bud.
However, the loud bang once again caused panic among the complex’s bosses.
The gunshot was clearly different, and anyone with a little knowledge could tell it was a different caliber.
This meant there were two guns in the complex!
Were they in the same hands? Or two different people?
The bosses held an emergency meeting in their group chat, terrified. If there were two people, and if they joined forces, they had no chance.
Inside the apartment, Sun Ting was relatively calm, while An Bai had fainted from fright, but Tang Ze woke her up.
After waking up, An Bai rushed to the bathroom to vomit.
A while later, she came out. Seeing Ning Gu lying in a pool of blood, An Bai realized she felt nothing. Shouldn’t she be grieving?
“Give me a hand.”
Sun Ting called out.
“Oh.”
The two women dragged the body to the window and, with all their might, threw it down.
Sun Ting gasped for breath and looked at An Bai. “Are you okay?”
An Bai nodded, but her face was still pale. After all, this time the death happened right in front of her.
“I killed your boyfriend. You’re not angry, are you?”
Tang Ze handed her a glass of water, asking with a smile.
An Bai found that although Tang Ze’s smile was gentle, it sent chills down her spine. He was terrifying.
An Bai shook her head.
“That’s good. Take care of yourself, that’s what you need to do now.”
Tang Ze was pleased. The two women could now alternate, doubling the progress, according to the system.
But he still felt it was too slow. He couldn’t bring himself to touch those other vulgar women.
“Are there any other beautiful women in our complex?”
Tang Ze asked curiously. After all, he was often out, maybe he had missed someone.
Sun Ting shook her head. She streamed from home all day, how would she know? An Bai flew all over the world and hadn’t lived here long. Even when she was here, she mostly stayed home.
So Tang Ze’s question was pointless.
“Both of you, come and massage my legs.”
The two women obediently sat on either side of him and started massaging. Tang Ze opened his phone to check the messages in the complex group chat.
Building 5: “F*ck, the gunman appeared and took my wife!”
Building 2: “The gunman appeared here too, and took my wife!”
Building 1: “How many gunmen are there?!”
Building 3: “The gunman is in our building! You’ve all been tricked. Everyone be careful.”
Building 5: “What?! So my wife was screwed for nothing?!”
Tang Ze sighed. Someone was impersonating him to take advantage of the situation. Tsk tsk.
The two women saw the messages but didn’t express their opinions. Smart women wouldn’t appear too opinionated, especially around Tang Ze. Opinionated women died quickly.
“Go wash some fruit.”
Tang Ze said, still looking at his phone.
An Bai immediately got up to prepare. Sun Ting was stunned. Had she finally figured it out?
Not long after, An Bai returned with the fruit platter. It had to be said, her presentation was skillful. As they say:
Don’t challenge someone’s profession with your hobby. Leave professional matters to the professionals.
“It’s about time this gunman made an appearance.”
Tang Ze said casually.
The two women exchanged glances.
Sun Ting said worriedly, “There are many of them. It might not be safe to go out alone.”
If anything happened to Tang Ze, Sun Ting knew she wouldn’t fare well either.
An Bai didn’t speak, perhaps not having realized this yet.
The next day, the rain intensified. More and more bodies appeared in the complex’s central green area, some from jumping, some thrown. At least half were naked women.
This sight assaulted everyone’s senses. Despair spread, and humanity twisted.
But in Tang Ze’s apartment, there was no sign of change.
Sitting at the dining table, enjoying Hunan cuisine, Sun Ting and An Bai knelt on the floor, waiting for Tang Ze to finish eating. They ate his leftovers.
Burping, Tang Ze smiled. “Five dishes is a bit too much.”
He then poured the leftovers onto two separate plates. Although he called them leftovers, Tang Ze had barely touched them.
“Eat.”
Placing the food in front of the two women, Tang Ze patted their heads.
He took out his phone and checked. Dong Fei had sent a message in the group chat, calling for a meeting in the underground parking garage that night.
“I’ll take you two out to play tonight.”
Hearing Tang Ze’s words, panic flashed in Sun Ting’s eyes. Tang Ze was only one person, bringing two women along. How could he handle it?
But she didn’t dare to object, just meekly meowed in agreement. Seeing this, An Bai could only do the same.
They hadn’t even enjoyed two days of good living, was it about to end? Why bring them along? Was it to show off?
Tang Ze’s reasoning was that showing off was one aspect, but another was to stir up trouble. In this apocalyptic world, going out with two beautiful women was akin to seeking death, like asking for trouble.
After all, he was a gentleman. If they didn’t make a move, how could he justify killing them?
Night quickly fell. People gradually appeared in Building Three’s parking garage, their moods low. They looked around vigilantly, especially at Dong Fei and his group.
The other buildings also seemed to be holding meetings that night, so the underground parking garage was bustling, but no one spoke. People stood with those they knew, occasionally glancing warily at others.
“Damn it, that Ning Gu disappeared! He even took my bread as a deposit!”
A middle-aged man with a receding hairline, seeing that Ning Gu hadn’t appeared, started cursing. He had been looking forward to some fun, but now it seemed he had been tricked.
“That bastard also took a marinated egg from me as a deposit! I’m going to chop him up later!”
Those who had paid deposits started complaining. Dong Fei sat on the hood of a car, cracking sunflower seeds. His men held kitchen knives and fruit knives, the most dangerous among them probably a large cleaver.
Dong Fei kept his eyes on the elevator. Was the missing Ning Gu the gunman? Or was it the delivery guy? Or was there someone else hiding in the shadows?
One of those two definitely had something to do with it!
