Chapter 95: One Wave After Another
“Do you want me to read it to you?” Xia Zhibai asked, arms crossed over her chest. Her smooth black hair gently swayed in the breeze as she stood grim-faced before Ruo Xiaoxi.
The note clearly read, ‘It makes me so happy to be with Xiaoxi. Liking each other is the most wonderful thing. I’m confessing to you, Ruo Xiaoxi, I like you~’.
It was definitely Xiaonuo’s style, a confession note tucked inside a chocolate box.
Seeing the note, Ruo Xiaoxi’s heart turned cold. She realized she had just escaped one trap only to fall into another. This note from Xiaonuo fully revealed their ambiguous relationship.
“Explain to me, what does ‘be with’ mean?”
“J-just hanging out, like with friends, it’s normal…”
“Then how do you explain ‘liking each other’?”
“It’s just… ordinary liking, like friends would say to each other.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
Ruo Xiaoxi immediately put on a sincere, pitiful expression, her sparkling big eyes seeming to shimmer with tears. She clasped her hands together, pleading for Senior Xia to believe her.
Xia Zhibai narrowed her eyes, silently staring back at her.
“R-right, Senior Xia, I’m wearing over-the-knee socks today. Do my legs look nice?”
“Don’t try to change the subject. I’m not looking at your legs right now.” Xia Zhibai stopped Ruo Xiaoxi’s attempt at diversion. “Actually, I shouldn’t believe you, but you’re making such a cute face…”
“So, you believe me then?” Ruo Xiaoxi felt a little happy, thinking she’d gotten away with it again.
“But you’ve probably been going behind my back, dating other girls, haven’t you? Is your… back itching for a spanking again?” Xia Zhibai furrowed her brows, questioning her sharply.
“No, no, Senior Xia, you can’t accuse me wrongly!”
“Then why is the gift you gave me someone else’s gift to you? And you regifted a confession present meant for you, to me, as a birthday gift. You’re really good at saving effort, aren’t you? Truly despicable.”
“W-well… that was a mistake. I grabbed the wrong one.” Ruo Xiaoxi said guiltily, her hands clasped behind her back.
“How about this, Senior Xia, I’ll kiss you as an apology… Is that okay? It’s my fault for not giving you the right gift, making you unhappy and ruining your birthday. I’m sorry…”
“I… I didn’t mean that.”
Seeing Ruo Xiaoxi’s remorseful, obedient, and sincere apology, Xia Zhibai’s anger seemed to be extinguished. Ruo Xiaoxi certainly didn’t do this on purpose…
But she still had to investigate the girl who gave her this confession gift.
“Alright, alright, I wasn’t really going to be angry with you. Don’t look so wronged; I’m not bullying you.”
“I’ll like any gift you give me, as long as it’s sincere. Even if I can’t like this gift, I still appreciate your intention.”
Xia Zhibai lovingly patted Ruo Xiaoxi’s head, pulling her into a comforting hug. Forget it, forget it. I won’t scold her. Everyone makes mistakes. I’ll keep spoiling her.
Ruo Xiaoxi nestled into Senior Xia’s embrace, sniffling mournfully.

“What? Who did you say? Xiaonuo?” Just as her expression softened, Xia Zhibai’s eyes widened.
“Ah?! Holy crap! No good!” Ruo Xiaoxi let out a small expletive. What had she said?! Why had she called Senior Xia ‘Xiaonuo’? Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap, no way!!!
From last night to this morning, she’d been apologizing to Xiaonuo, so it had just slipped out!
Oh no, oh no! Both Xiaonuo and Senior Xia were called ‘ABB’ (like ‘Xiaonuo’ and ‘Zhibai’), so it came out so naturally she didn’t even notice!
She was almost in the clear! Senior Xia had already forgiven her! Why did she mess up now?!
Ruo Xiaoxi’s face twisted in a bitter expression. She could feel Senior Xia’s arms around her tightening, her expression darkening. She was about to die…
“I’m sorry, I said the wrong name. Heh heh.” Ruo Xiaoxi stuck out her tongue, trying to be cute, in her final moments.
“Ruo… Xiao… Xi!!!” Murderous intent flared in Xia Zhibai’s eyes. Ruo Xiaoxi did have other women, didn’t she? So many that she was mixing up names?!
Alright, you almost got away with it again, you little green tea. Calling another woman’s name while in my arms!
“S-s-sorry… I know apologizing won’t help now!” Ruo Xiaoxi gave an awkward, wide grin, her hands held defensively, trying to retreat slowly, ready to flee.
What to do? Run! If she couldn’t run, she’d be beaten senseless by the enraged older sister!
“Xiaoxi…” However, another soft voice suddenly appeared, having witnessed everything. “Why are you… in Senior Xia’s arms? And you even kissed her…”
Lan Yinuo stood at the dorm entrance like a statue, clutching her bag, staring blankly at them.
The moment she heard that voice, Ruo Xiaoxi froze, instantly breaking out in a cold sweat. She slowly turned her head, looking at Xiaonuo, who had appeared behind them.
Wasn’t Xiaonuo still packing in the dorm? Why… why is she here now?! No, no, no! It’s all ruined! It’s all ruined!!!
“Eh? Xiaonuo… you… when did you…” Ruo Xiaoxi stammered, her face slowly twisting into an unconvincing, desperate smile.
For a moment, the air seemed to solidify.
Xia Zhibai and Lan Yinuo stared at each other, then their gazes fell simultaneously on Ruo Xiaoxi. Perhaps in that moment, they both understood exactly what was going on.
Ruo Xiaoxi, having broken free from Senior Xia’s embrace, stood between them, blushing, her head bowed in silence.
Feeling the deathly quiet…
“Um… can I take off my skirt and stockings myself? They’re a bit expensive…”
“RUO XIAO XI—!!!” The girls’ simultaneous roar pierced the sky.
Just then, Senior Yin Huixue emerged from her dorm, ready to go home. She happened to witness this tense scene, immediately understood, and with a knowing, mischievous smile, clapped her hands softly, fanning the flames:
“Oh my, looks like there’s some trouble? Fight, fight~”
“SENIOR!!!” Ruo Xiaoxi’s pitiful shriek echoed through the dormitory.
