You’re Not Allowed to Kiss Me Anymore! [Quick Transmigration] 27p2

Chapter 27 p2: Transmigrated as the Abusive Story’s Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character

Xin Yao turned to look at Pei Yu, standing in the dim light.

Pei Yu’s expression was calm, yet Xin Yao couldn’t bring herself to say she was leaving.

It was Pei Yu’s birthday, after all. There were still several hours left.

She couldn’t just leave the birthday girl alone.

As she thought this, an idea sparked in her mind. She looked at Pei Yu, her eyes shining with mischief.

“I’m not leaving.”

She grinned, walking towards Pei Yu.

“It’s your birthday! Don’t you want to go out and celebrate?”

Well, it was actually Xin Yao who wanted to go out.

She had always dreamt of spontaneous adventures, of exploring the world and seeing new sights.

She had never had the time before.

But this time was different. Her father was going to the office tomorrow, so she didn’t have to work.

And it would be a shame to leave this world without seeing more of it.

Pei Yu saw through her pretense, but it didn’t matter. If Xin Yao wanted to go out, then so did she.

“Yes, I do,” she replied.

“Really?!” Xin Yao’s eyes lit up. “It’s snowing outside. You really want to go out?”

Pei Yu, always decisive, stood up. “Yes, let’s go.”

She cast a spell on Xin Yao. “Now you won’t feel cold.”

“Great!” Xin Yao was delighted by Pei Yu’s thoughtfulness and efficiency. She almost hugged her. “Being with you is so wonderful.”

Without waiting for a reply, she grabbed her coat and wrapped Pei Yu’s scarf around her neck.

Ready to go, she took Pei Yu’s hand.

“Let’s go!”

Pei Yu didn’t ask where they were going. She didn’t care.

She let Xin Yao lead her through the snow, her hand clasped tightly in Xin Yao’s.

The streetlights cast a warm glow behind them, the snowflakes swirling around them, as Pei Yu, bathed in the soft light, followed Xin Yao on a spontaneous adventure.

They arrived at the pier just in time for the last ferry.

It was late, and the weather was bad, so they were the only passengers.

Xin Yao sat down, leaning back against her seat, breathing a sigh of relief.

“Just in time! I thought we were going to miss it.”

Pei Yu still didn’t ask where they were going, simply enjoying Xin Yao’s presence.

The sky was darkening, the snow falling harder. They sat in the empty ferry, a large window offering a panoramic view of the sea.

Snowflakes, like white feathers, drifted down from the sky, settling on the calm, dark water.

It was a romantic scene.

Pei Yu’s life had always been predictable, even mundane.

She was naturally aloof and reserved, her demonic nature further isolating her from human society.

She had never taken a ferry, never had a spontaneous adventure.

She looked out the window at the falling snow, a sight she had never seen before.

Just then, Xin Yao placed her headphones over Pei Yu’s ears.

Pei Yu felt a warmth spread through her as Xin Yao’s gentle voice echoed in her ears.

“Listen to this song.”

A cheerful female voice filled her ears.

On the gently swaying ferry, as the sky darkened and the snow fell, Pei Yu, holding Xin Yao’s hand, listened to the music.

[Thank you for taking me on this spontaneous journey]
[To witness the snow falling on the sea]
[To touch the setting sun and the stars]
[To chase an elusive dream]

Xin Yao’s soft, cheerful voice echoed in her ears.

“Isn’t it beautiful?”

“When I heard this song, I knew I had to see the sunset over the ocean.”

“Too bad the weather isn’t good today.”

“But it’s perfect. We get to see the snow falling on the sea.”

“It’s so beautiful.”

Xin Yao’s eyes, bright and sparkling, reflected the falling snow.

Miracles were rare, but life always had its own unique beauty.

The ferry ride wasn’t long, and they soon reached their destination.

The snow was falling even harder now, the sky weeping into the sea, a spectacular sight.

Pei Yu hadn’t expected this, hadn’t expected their destination to be… a hotel.

As Xin Yao went to check in, Pei Yu stood beside her, her eyes gleaming with a predatory light.

Xin Yao, seeing her expression, felt a shiver run down her spine, a strange warmth spreading through her body.

She walked over and pinched Pei Yu’s waist playfully.

“What are you thinking about?”

“I’m taking you on a proper date.”

The pinch was surprisingly hard, even the thick-skinned snake demon feeling a twinge of pain.

Pei Yu touched her nose.

“We can have fun at home too.”

Lecherous snake!

Xin Yao rolled her eyes, ignoring her, and walked towards the elevator, her room key in hand.

President Xin, now flush with cash, or perhaps driven by a long-held dream, had booked the top-floor suite.

Even Xin Yao, who had seen her fair share of luxury, was impressed by the size and opulence of the suite.

The rich truly lived a different life.

President Pei, however, remained unfazed.

But Xin Yao’s excitement was contagious.

She tossed her bag onto the sofa and walked over to Pei Yu, covering her eyes with her hands.

The warmth of her hands against Pei Yu’s skin made her raise an eyebrow.

“Hmm?”

Xin Yao giggled, her voice a soft whisper in Pei Yu’s ear.

“I have a surprise for you. Don’t open your eyes.”

Pei Yu always indulged her. “Okay.”

Xin Yao led her towards the bed.

“Don’t open your eyes! Take off your shoes and lie down.”

Pei Yu, now Xin Yao’s willing puppet, obeyed.

As she lay down, she heard a rustling sound beside her.

The bed dipped slightly as Xin Yao lay down beside her.

Then, a click, and a whirring sound, like curtains being drawn open.

And light, making Pei Yu’s sensitive eyes flinch.

Xin Yao’s voice echoed in her ear.

“You can open your eyes now.”

“One, two, three.”

Pei Yu opened her eyes.

A breathtaking view greeted her.

Even Pei Yu, usually so composed, was momentarily stunned.

Xin Yao had brought her to a hotel with a unique feature: the ceiling of the top-floor suite was a retractable glass roof.

With the roof open, it felt as if they were lying beneath the open sky, the stars within reach.

And it was snowing.

Snowflakes, like tiny white feathers, drifted down from the sky, mingling with the starlight.

The dark night sky, a vast, inky canvas, made the snowflakes shimmer and glow.

It was a magical night.

Pei Yu had never taken the time to simply look at the sky like this.

Xin Yao’s soft voice echoed in her ear.

“Drunk, I know not the sky is in the water, a boatload of dreams weighs down the Milky Way.” (1)

There were no stars tonight, but the falling snow was just as beautiful.

In that moment, Pei Yu understood the meaning of birthdays.

The meaning of life, even.

Perhaps her first 25 years, lived in solitude and indifference, had been leading up to this moment.

It was worth it.

All the waiting had been worth it.

That night, Pei Yu slept more soundly than she ever had before, nestled in Xin Yao’s arms.

When she woke up the next morning, the sun was already high in the sky.

She felt strangely disoriented, then instinctively reached out for the person beside her.

But the bed was empty, the sheets cold. Xin Yao was gone.

Pei Yu’s eyes snapped open, and she sat up abruptly, her brow furrowed.

She was about to get out of bed to look for Xin Yao when she saw the note on the nightstand.

[Something came up. You were sleeping so soundly, I didn’t want to wake you. I’ll be in touch when I get home.]

Pei Yu stared at the note for a long time before putting it down.

She sat there, looking out the window at the falling snow, the sky still dark and gloomy.

The person who had brought her here had left before dawn.

Pei Yu, gazing at the snow-covered landscape, remembered the lyrics of the song they had listened to on the ferry.

[To chase an elusive dream]

Last night, and Xin Yao…

It had all felt like a beautiful, fleeting dream.

A dream meant only for her.
