Chapter 73: You Will Surely Become the Brightest Star

“Xiaoxi, have you heard that first-year military training starts tomorrow?”

“What? Tomorrow? Wait, I completely forgot new students have military training.”

“So you’re totally unprepared? There’s no helping you, Xiaoxi, you’re such a scatterbrain. I happen to have extra towels, water bottles, and other things for military training. I’ll share some with you.”

As Ruo Xiaoxi thanked Lan Yinuo, she pondered the upcoming military training.

Looking at her delicate hands, she wondered if her frail body could withstand the rigors of training.

Decision made. Starting tomorrow, it’s my time of the month!

Besides the physical demands, Ruo Xiaoxi knew that as a vampire, while she wouldn’t disintegrate in sunlight, prolonged exposure would be tough.

Even ordinary people got sunburned and peeled. As a vampire, she would be even weaker than usual under the scorching sun. She’d learned that the hard way during the summer.

She might even start smoking and catch fire.

She was out of sunscreen. Time to restock.

That afternoon, the opening ceremony proceeded as scheduled.

Ruo Xiaoxi and Lan Yinuo carried small stools to the audience area, listening to the speeches. When it was the second-year representative’s turn, they saw Xia Zhibai walk onto the stage.

Xia Zhibai was well-known at school, partly because her election as student council president had generated buzz, and partly because her father had donated a large sum to improve the school’s facilities.

The rich heiress from novels had appeared in real life.

No matter how low-key Xia Zhibai tried to be, she was destined to be looked up to, like a snow lotus on a mountain peak, too distant and cold to approach.

In reality, she was quite approachable, but only those close to her knew that.

Applause thundered. Ruo Xiaoxi, seemingly producing them out of thin air, waved two glow sticks (useless in daylight) enthusiastically, fully embracing her role as the atmosphere maker.

Xia Zhibai, noticing Ruo Xiaoxi cheering her on, allowed herself a small, almost imperceptible smile.

Then, in a formal tone, Xia Zhibai delivered her welcoming speech flawlessly. Her poise, pleasant voice, and gentle demeanor, combined with the authority of the student council president, captivated the audience.

“Wow… that senior is so beautiful and capable,” Xiaonuo murmured in admiration.

“Right? I know Senior Xia. She’s usually quite girly and gentle, but on a formal stage, she’s incredibly commanding, like a domineering CEO.”

“A very onee-san vibe…” Xiaonuo whispered, thinking, Is this what a beautiful, kind, and dignified onee-san is like? I wish I could be as impressive as her…

“Eh? Xiaoxi, you know the student council president?” Xiaonuo suddenly realized.

“Yes, we’re quite close. Senior Xia even helps me with club matters,” Ruo Xiaoxi said proudly. It was indeed something to boast about among the first-years.

When Senior Xia was gentle, Ruo Xiaoxi wanted to be playful. But when she was being her domineering self, Ruo Xiaoxi’s legs turned to jelly.

“Eh—quite close? How close? Are you relatives? Or…?”

“No, no, just friends who met occasionally and sometimes hang out.” Ruo Xiaoxi waved her hand dismissively. Well… we’ve also been to her house several times.

“I see.” Xiaonuo, trusting Ruo Xiaoxi completely, simply nodded.

But for some reason, she felt a pang of competitive pressure. Now that they were at school, knowing Ruo Xiaoxi was popular, she worried about being left out.

That won’t happen, right? After all, Xiaoxi and I… shared a forbidden fruit…

She wouldn’t just… lift her skirt and forget about me, right? A heartless girl who forgets the old love for the new? But even knowing Xiaoxi is a flirt, I still really like her.

Just by standing in front of her, Ruo Xiaoxi could charm the panties off Xiaonuo.

Waaaah, she’s so cute, and so nice…

Secretly watching Ruo Xiaoxi enthusiastically waving her glow sticks, Lan Yinuo felt a surge of envy. I want to be more impressive too.

One day, I want Xiaoxi to cheer for me like that…

The first day of school passed quickly. After the welcoming celebrations, the rigorous military training and classes would begin. It wouldn’t be as relaxed as today.

Perhaps because of Ruo Xiaoxi’s speech in class, many students approached Lan Yinuo to chat. The girls, having closer proximity, took the lead, while the boys, more hesitant, offered help whenever needed.

Xiaonuo quickly settled into the class. Her classmates were all bright and friendly.

However, they were also quite gossipy, trying to pry information about her and Ruo Xiaoxi, mainly because Ruo Xiaoxi’s “infidelity declaration” had been so bold.

Watching Xiaonuo surrounded by friends, Ruo Xiaoxi hummed contentedly, heading home with her off-campus pass.

She felt like Xiaonuo was her childhood friend. Just because Xiaonuo’s mom had asked her to look after Xiaonuo, Ruo Xiaoxi was doing her best to help, wanting to show she was responsible.

Xiaonuo had many worries, but she was sensitive and didn’t know how to express them.

Ruo Xiaoxi understood the fear of social interaction; she had experienced it herself.

She used to prefer being alone, enduring loneliness, afraid of others disrupting her routine. Words she wanted to say would get stuck in her throat, swallowed down in frustration.

Sometimes, even if she bought the wrong food in the cafeteria, she wouldn’t dare complain, just thinking, Oh well. When enthusiastic people approached her, she wouldn’t know how to respond, her expression awkward and stiff.

Yet, her inner world was rich and vibrant, yearning for the sunlight outside, needing someone to reach out and pull her out of her dark room, into the bright, open fields.

No longer a shut-in, but the brightest, most radiant star in school!

So, starting with this high school life, Ruo Xiaoxi would guide her. Maybe rewards like kisses would motivate Xiaonuo and give her courage?

After all, Xiaonuo’s feelings for her were far from timid; she was full of courage when pursuing love.
