45. Yay, Let’s Go to the Amusement Park!
“Sister, where did you go? I couldn’t find you.”
“I just took a phone call and went to the bathroom. Xiao Nuonuo, did you find your class assignment?” Ruo Xiaoxi returned, still holding a tissue.
“Yes, I did. It’s right below yours. I’m in Class 4, Grade 1, too.”
Xiao Nuonuo looked pleased. She hadn’t expected to be in the same class as Ruo Xiaoxi; it felt like a stroke of luck, a blessing from the heavens.
“Me too, me too, Class 4, Grade 1.”
“Copycat,” Ruo Xiaoxi gently nudged her sister’s nose.
Ruo Tianxin humphed, crossing her arms. “I’ll get into this school eventually, just you wait. Then I’ll be your junior, and you’ll have to take care of me.”
“We’ll talk about that when you actually get in.”
“Where are we going next? We’ve seen most of the school. Let’s go somewhere else,” Ruo Tianxin suggested. Staying on campus wasn’t very exciting.
This is a date, a date! We should go to a scenic park, sit on a bench, and whisper sweet nothings.
Ruo Tianxin was the most eager of the three, desperate to set up her sister and Nuonuo. The two involved, however, were quite calm; this wasn’t their first time meeting outside the game.
“How about the amusement park? It’s the perfect place for a holiday outing,” Ruo Xiaoxi suggested. She had been in this city for a while and had researched the best places to visit.
They could take a direct bus from the school to the Carnival Amusement Park, a famous amusement park, large and with a wide variety of rides, Tian Tan City’s equivalent of Disneyland.
“Yay, let’s go to the amusement park!” Ruo Tianxin cheered, raising her hands in agreement.
Lan Yinuo was generally indecisive and happy to follow Ruo Xiaoxi’s lead; anywhere was fine.
If it were up to her, she would have suggested going home and playing online games together. But that wouldn’t do. They were finally out and about; they should enjoy the day.
“Then let’s—”
“Wait, don’t go through the main gate. Let’s go through the back again,” Ruo Xiaoxi said, pulling her sister back.
Ruo Tianxin blinked, confused. “Why?”
“There’s a BOSS at the front gate! Yes, a big BOSS! It’s like those areas in games with the red warning signs. We have to retreat safely through the back.”
“Are you obsessed with games?” Ruo Tianxin glanced at Lan Yinuo, thinking she might understand, but she just smiled and shook her head.
The three girls retraced their steps and exited through the back gate.
Ruo Tianxin winked at Lan Yinuo, who shyly lowered her gaze, still thinking about Ruo Tianxin’s whispered secret: that Ruo Xiaoxi liked her too.
So, she just had to be brave and take the initiative; Ruo Xiaoxi would definitely reciprocate.
It was the first time Lan Yinuo had heard this, and she trusted Xiao Tianxin.
Ruo Xiaoxi, walking between them, saw their exchange and felt a flicker of suspicion. What are they up to? She coughed, a small fist held to her mouth.
I’m going to be jealous if this continues.
No, my little sister is going to steal Xiao Nuonuo away from me. I need a plan.
They waited for the bus at the bus stop outside the school. The bus was crowded; there were no seats, so they had to hold onto the overhead straps. The amusement park was about a twenty-minute ride.
Taking advantage of the bus slowing down, Ruo Tianxin mischievously nudged Ruo Xiaoxi’s waist with her hip. Ruo Xiaoxi, losing her grip on the strap, stumbled into Lan Yinuo’s arms.
“Whoa…!” Ruo Xiaoxi yelped, her hands landing on Xiao Nuonuo’s soft stomach.
Xiao Nuonuo was also startled, quickly reaching out to steady her. “Are you okay, Xiaoxi? Hold on tight.”
Ruo Xiaoxi blinked, then looked up at Xiao Nuonuo with wide, innocent eyes, shifting her hands from her stomach to her waist.
“I should have worn platform shoes today. My arms are too short, it’s hard to reach the straps. Xiao Nuonuo, can I hold onto you for a bit?”
“Ah, sure…” Hmm? Lan Yinuo thought she and Ruo Xiaoxi were about the same height; all three of them were around 1.5 meters tall. She had no trouble reaching the straps.
