Chapter 35 p2
Shen Yiqiu, her enthusiasm undimmed, saw that Qin Qianrou had been holding the shoes for a while, assuming she liked them, and started offering her opinion.
“This pair is really nice, I have a pair too, they’re so comfortable!”
Qin Qianrou looked at her in surprise. “You have a pair too?”
“Yes, but they’re in my suitcase, I haven’t taken them out.”
Qin Qianrou’s gaze returned to the shoes. Since Shen Yiqiu said they were comfortable, should she buy a pair to try?
“And their after-sales service is great, you can just bring them in for cleaning and maintenance.”
Qin Qianrou chuckled, interrupting her, “Alright, alright, you’re practically a salesperson now, how much commission are they giving you?”
Shen Yiqiu paused, realizing she was being teased, and shrugged nonchalantly. “This is called word-of-mouth marketing.”
Qin Qianrou didn’t say anything more, asked for her size, tried them on, and, finding them indeed comfortable, bought them.
Shen Yiqiu readily took the shopping bag, but before she could say anything, Qin Qianrou led her to the third floor.
“Where are we going now?”
“To buy clothes.”
“Buy clothes? We just bought shoes, why are we buying clothes now?”
“Have you ever seen anyone wear a business suit with trendy sneakers?”
Qin Qianrou asked seriously, and Shen Yiqiu answered equally seriously.
“It would be a bit strange, but you also…” don’t need to buy clothes specifically to match the shoes, then we might have to buy a bag, and then a belt…
The thought made Shen Yiqiu’s head spin, but she obediently followed Qin Qianrou.
This time, Qin Qianrou wanted to buy clothes for her, and Shen Yiqiu couldn’t seem to refuse.
“We came in a hurry yesterday, and we didn’t bring any clothes. You’re not planning on wearing the same outfit for several days, are you?” Reaching the third floor, Qin Qianrou went straight to the casual wear section, seemingly intending to find something to match the new shoes.
“Oh, doesn’t the hotel have laundry service?”
Qin Qianrou pursed her lips and turned around, her look silencing Shen Yiqiu, who finally understood that Qin Qianrou genuinely wanted to buy her something.
However, she couldn’t accept such generosity without reason. She had already received so much kindness from Qin Qianrou and was now living in her home. She only had some pocket money left in her account. Although her parents had left her a considerable amount, she couldn’t afford to be extravagant, knowing she had a long road ahead.
“Thanks to you, things worked out with Gu Chao, otherwise we would all have regrets.”
Hmm? Why suddenly bring this up?
The confusion in Shen Yiqiu’s eyes deepened, while Qin Qianrou’s smile widened.
“So, I’ll buy you some clothes as a reward, okay?”
A reward?
“I was just doing what I should, there’s no need for a reward.”
“You can’t refuse a reward I’m giving you.” With that, Qin Qianrou led her forward without further discussion.
Shen Yiqiu was also familiar with this store; many of her clothes were from this brand, and it was indeed one of her favorites.
But did Qin Qianrou like it too?
She couldn’t imagine what Qin Qianrou would look like in these clothes, but she couldn’t help but feel a surge of anticipation. If she tied her hair up in a ponytail… she would look just like a university student, and definitely the campus belle, absolutely!
Qin Qianrou picked out several items and asked Shen Yiqiu, “Which one looks good?”
Shen Yiqiu looked at her, then at the clothes in her hand, and pointed to the outfit on the far left.
Qin Qianrou’s eyes lit up; that was the one she had picked out first. As expected, they had similar taste.
“Do you want to try it on?” Shen Yiqiu was eager to see Qin Qianrou in the outfit.
Qin Qianrou studied her, as if seeing through her thoughts, making Shen Yiqiu blush slightly.
“You should try something on too.” With that, Qin Qianrou handed another outfit to Shen Yiqiu.
A few moments later, they emerged from the fitting rooms, their eyes shining as they saw each other.
Shen Yiqiu’s usual style was similar to this, so the new clothes didn’t change her appearance much. However, Qin Qianrou looked like a different person. She had even changed her hairstyle to match the outfit.
A simple, casual ponytail, unexpectedly captivating.
Shen Yiqiu marveled inwardly. She hadn’t seen any girl on campus who looked as beautiful in a ponytail as Qin Qianrou.
“How is it?” Seeing Shen Yiqiu staring blankly, Qin Qianrou couldn’t help but ask softly.
Shen Yiqiu snapped back to reality, nodding vigorously, as if her head was a bobblehead toy.
“Beautiful, beautiful, so beautiful!”
The sales assistant, standing nearby, chuckled at Shen Yiqiu’s exaggerated reaction, but wholeheartedly agreed.
“It does look very good.”
Unlike the usual flattery used to make a sale, the sales assistant’s compliment was genuine. Qin Qianrou often received compliments, but she usually disliked people focusing on her appearance.
But today, it felt different.
Hearing Shen Yiqiu compliment her, she felt quite pleased.
“Then I’ll just wear this.”
Qin Qianrou paid for the clothes, and Shen Yiqiu readily took the bag containing their discarded outfits from the sales assistant, her hands now full.
“Are you hungry? Should we have lunch before going back to the hotel?” Qin Qianrou glanced at the time; it was lunchtime.
Shen Yiqiu was about to nod when she heard someone nearby call out, “Qianrou.”
The voice wasn’t loud, and she wasn’t sure if she had heard correctly.
However, the next moment, someone walked straight towards them and called out again, “Qianrou.”
Qin Qianrou froze, clearly surprised by this unexpected encounter.
Then, her smile faded, and she softly said, “Mom.”
Wen Yirong hadn’t intended to follow her daughter. She had met some friends for tea that morning, and after they parted ways, she had decided to do some shopping here. She hadn’t expected to run into her daughter.
She had said she was here for work, so why was she shopping? And she was shopping for brands and styles she almost never bought. This made Wen Yirong even more curious, and she couldn’t help but follow them for a bit.
The result was surprising, and even more puzzling. She had seen her daughter buy trendy sneakers, and then she saw Qin Qianrou emerge wearing clothes reminiscent of her university days a decade ago, looking like she had stepped back in time.
Her business suit was gone, her high heels were gone, even her usual hairstyle had changed. Wen Yirong was amazed, almost unable to recognize her own daughter.
What surprised her even more was the girl beside Qin Qianrou. She looked much younger than Qianrou, clearly a student. She knew her daughter had been taking care of a child in Meng City, but she hadn’t expected her to bring the girl here.
Wen Yirong had planned to call Qin Qianrou later to ask about the details, but then she saw the gentle smile on her daughter’s usually indifferent face as she discussed lunch plans with the girl.
Intense curiosity prompted Wen Yirong to approach them. She couldn’t wait until evening to find out what kind of child could bring about such a significant change in Qin Qianrou.
Hearing Qin Qianrou call her “Mom,” Shen Yiqiu’s mouth formed an “O” shape. She had only recently learned that Qin Qianrou was from Hai City, and she hadn’t expected to run into someone she knew so soon. She felt a sense of awkwardness, like being caught skipping class to go shopping. She rarely did such things, but that didn’t mean she had never done them.
Although Wen Yirong’s gaze wasn’t hostile, it still made Shen Yiqiu nervous.
“Aren’t you going to introduce me to your… friend?”
Qin Qianrou frowned slightly. She was all too familiar with Wen Yirong’s tone; it was the same tone she had used last night on the phone, probing about who she had brought back.
“Shen Yiqiu, I met her while working in Meng City.”
