Chapter 16
The airport bustled with people. Yu Zhao glanced out the window, opening the car door as she instructed, “It’s crowded. Stay in the car. I’ll go get Mom and Dad.”
Bo Chi nodded obediently. “Okay, I’ll wait for you here.”
Shortly after, Bo Chi’s parents returned with Yu Zhao, smiles on their faces. Bo Chi’s mother held Yu Zhao’s hand warmly, releasing it only after they entered the car. She then pulled Bo Chi into a hug, saying affectionately, “You child, have you been eating unhealthy food again? Look at your little face, your chin is so… so…”
Bo Chi’s mother trailed off, unable to finish her sentence. Bo Chi, well-fed by Yu Zhao both in and out of bed, was starting to show signs of a rounder face.
It wasn’t unattractive; she looked even more charming and cute.
But this clearly indicated that this little rascal hadn’t been taking her words to heart!
Bo Chi’s mother poked her forehead with a chuckle, then put on a stern expression. “Have your father and I ever deprived you of food or clothing? Are you so happy we went on vacation that you could eat three extra bowls of rice?”
Bo Chi blinked innocently, feigning guilt. “It’s Yu Zhao’s fault! She’s an amazing cook.”
And a scheming one at that, constantly tempting Bo Chi with delicious food. With her weak self-control, Bo Chi was easily swayed.
Thinking of this, Bo Chi looked at her parents, then at Yu Zhao, who had consciously taken the passenger seat. She stealthily whispered to her mother, “Mom, did you know Yu Zhao and I are getting married soon?”
—Since she couldn’t get rid of Yu Zhao through normal means, she would have to resort to… parental intervention!
Normal parents wouldn’t approve of their child marrying someone of the same sex, right?
Right?
Bo Chi stared at her mother expectantly, waiting for her to explode in anger.
However, not only was her mother not angry, but she smiled. “You’re not shy at all, are you? So eager to get married? Your father and I think you should spend more time with Zhao Zhao and wait until after graduation.”
“…That’s not the point!” Bo Chi almost bit her tongue. “Is that the point? The point is I and Yu Zhao, two women, are getting married!”
Bo Chi’s mother nodded calmly. “Isn’t that good? I was so worried when you were chasing that poor boy, afraid he’d trick you into running away with him.”
Bo Chi was stunned. “Yu Zhao is also poor…”
Bo Chi’s mother looked at Yu Zhao in the front seat, then pinched Bo Chi’s cheek, chuckling softly. “Silly girl, she’s a woman. No matter how poor she is, she can’t get you pregnant and convince you to leave home with a child. Besides, your father and I may not have much, but we’re good judges of character. Whether she’s frivolous or dependable, whether she’s using you or sincere towards you—we can tell with a glance. Compared to that male classmate who ignored you while secretly gloating, I’d rather you be with Zhao Zhao. At least she has genuine feelings for you.”
Bo Chi: “…”
It was over.
Even her parents had been won over. Who could save her now?
Was she really going to end up with her nemesis?!
Bo Chi felt a wave of dizziness. She couldn’t help but glance at Yu Zhao, their eyes meeting through the rearview mirror.
They both froze. Then Yu Zhao’s eyes curved into a smile.
Bo Chi’s face immediately flushed, her heart racing. Her previous anxieties were forgotten, replaced by a single thought—Oh no, why does she look so beautiful when she smiles?!
She, a sucker for pretty faces, truly couldn’t resist!
**
The return of Bo Chi’s parents didn’t cause any ripples in the wedding plans. They even went to the hospital to visit Yu Zhao’s mother. Yu Zhao’s mother seemed to have already learned about their relationship from Yu Zhao. She smiled. “I’m a burden to her as it is. Now that she’s found someone she loves, I’m only happy for her.”
She then looked at the despondent Bo Chi, her voice gentle. “And I have to thank Chi Chi. With her personality and background, she has no shortage of admirers. Her willingness to be with our Zhao Zhao is Zhao Zhao’s blessing.”
These words pleased Bo Chi’s parents, who immediately returned the compliment, praising Yu Zhao.
While they engaged in mutual flattery, Yu Zhao discreetly took Bo Chi’s hand and led her away.
Once they reached the less crowded stairwell, Yu Zhao bent down, her forehead touching Bo Chi’s, smiling without speaking.
Bo Chi glared at her, glaring until her eyes almost crossed. Finally, she conceded defeat. “What did you bring me here f—”
Yu Zhao suddenly interrupted her. “Wife.”
Bo Chi froze, her ears turning crimson. She opened her mouth but couldn’t speak.
Yu Zhao chuckled softly, patiently calling out again, “Wife.”
The stairwell was quiet, devoid of any movement.
Bo Chi could clearly hear her heart beating faster and faster.
Her fingers unconsciously twisted her skirt, her mind racing with countless images of her and Yu Zhao together.
After a long moment, her cheeks flushed, she softly replied, as if echoing the sentiment, “Mm.”
**
“Welcome back, Worker No. 666,” the familiar mechanical voice suddenly echoed in the endless void. “You have completed the mission ‘Prevent Yu Zhao from becoming Lin Ye’s official girlfriend,’ earning 100 points.”
“The system has detected that you and Worker No. 665, ‘Yu Zhao,’ were in a marital relationship in the small world. Do you wish to activate duo mode and share points with Worker No. 665?”
Bo Chi was momentarily confused, her memory still lingering on her and Yu Zhao basking in the sun in their old age.
As her consciousness cleared, the lingering intimacy gradually faded. As Bo Chi hummed in response, she still remembered every detail of her time with Yu Zhao, but the deep emotions were gone.
“Your soul isn’t strong enough to sustain such intense emotions,” the system explained, sensing her confusion. “So we selectively alleviate the pressure for you.”
Bo Chi reluctantly accepted this explanation, looking around, puzzled. “Where’s Ah Zhao? Why hasn’t she returned?”
The system: “Her soul is too weak to return to the space, so she has already proceeded to the next world.”
Bo Chi’s eyes lit up instantly. Without hesitation, she declared, “I’m going to the next world too!”
She’d been tricked by her nemesis, even ending up in bed with her.
The more Bo Chi thought about it, the more indignant she became, strengthening her resolve to get even.
Seeing her determination, the system didn’t say anything further, directly sending her to the next small world.
After a wave of dizziness, Bo Chi opened her eyes to find herself dressed in a spring dress, standing beneath a blossoming peach tree, secretly watching a young man in the distance.
The young man was exceptionally handsome, his gaze cold, his lips naturally red. He wore black brocade robes, his long hair tied up with a jade crown. Due to his young age, he appeared almost androgynous.
“Princess, the one in white is the new Number One Scholar. He is very talented, even His Majesty praised him as a Wenqu star(Star of Literature) descending to earth.” A chattering voice sounded beside her. Bo Chi looked back at her, and quickly understood her current situation and identity based on the memories in her mind.
Undoubtedly, she was now the current dynasty’s princess.
Because she was deeply favored by the Emperor, after learning that she might marry the new Number One Scholar, the original owner happily ran to the Peach Blossom Banquet, under the guise of admiring the flowers, to peek at what her future husband looked like.
In the plot, the original owner fell in love with the Number One Scholar at first sight, and the two became closer with contact. And just after they tasted the forbidden fruit, the Number One Scholar’s wife suddenly brought several children to the capital, beating the drums of injustice and begging the Number One Scholar not to abandon his wife and children.
The Emperor was furious when he learned of this, and intended to punish the Number One Scholar, but was stopped by the princess.
The princess was already pregnant with the Number One Scholar’s child at this time, and was deeply in love with him, so she immediately expressed her willingness to be on equal footing with the original wife.
After much deliberation, the Emperor, for the sake of his little princess’s reputation, finally married the princess off with a darkened face, allowing the Number One Scholar to enjoy the blessings of having two wives.
——That’s right, the Number One Scholar was the male lead of this world.
And the princess was not the female lead, she was still a vicious female supporting character. After marriage, she persevered in trying to harm the original wife and her children, and ultimately met a tragic end.
Thinking about it this way, Bo Chi quickly changed her target.
What scheming and selfish Number One Scholar? Isn’t the valiant and beautiful young general more fragrant?
