Chapter 233: Divine Authority

Ashes rained down from the sky like snowflakes.

Qin Chu and Anthea watched the battle from the entrance, their auras concealed. The twelve powerful Demon Beasts, focused entirely on the Flame Witch, hadn’t noticed them.

Qin Chu wasn’t foolish enough to directly confront the enraged Flame Witch.

He would wait until both sides were exhausted, then emerge to claim the spoils.

The Witch was his target, but the others were also valuable experience packs. Having tasted the power of a War God level experience pack, he now found these smaller ones less appealing.

He still regretted Eldritch’s death. If he had known that the Evil God’s threads were deadly poison to Demon Beasts, he wouldn’t have wasted such a valuable source of experience.

Diabolique was indeed far stronger than Eldritch.

He seamlessly blended the powers of storms and darkness, creating a devastating combination. Razor-sharp whirlwinds carved deep fissures into the mountain walls, and the darkness corroded the stone, turning it into black grit.

A single touch of this power could be fatal to a human, the corruption spreading rapidly unless treated with Holy Light or the affected flesh excised.

Diabolique’s power was insidious and deadly, far more dangerous than Eldritch’s brute force.

And the other Demon Beasts around him were also powerful elites.

Among Demon Beasts, there were three races renowned for their beauty:

Succubi, Snow Women, and Blood Elves.

Diabolique had two of them by his side.

Winged Demons and Dire Wolves were also formidable.

And the other grotesque creatures also possessed terrifying power.

The Flame Witch’s only response was fire, fire, and more fire…

An endless inferno, melting stone into lava.

Despite being besieged by twelve powerful Demon Beasts, she held her own.

But she was mad, her power uncontrolled and wasteful. She couldn’t maintain this for long.

As Qin Chu had predicted, after the twelve lava serpents struck down two of the Demon Beasts, the Snow Woman, Heloise, froze the entire cavern in ice.

The scorching heat was instantly replaced by a bone-chilling cold.

The Flame Witch’s flames flickered and diminished, her Mana depleted.

Even now, Qin Chu didn’t intervene. He knew that even weakened, a Witch was still dangerous. She still had power left.

Diabolique, incredibly fast, his movements a blur, appeared before the suppressed flames.

His hands, wreathed in darkness, transformed into claws, tearing through the inferno.

With a strange, ripping sound, he parted the flames, revealing a small, crimson object at their core.

It looked like a ruby, or a flickering flame.

Or perhaps just an illusion, not a tangible object at all.

Diabolique’s eyes lit up.

This was the Flame Witch’s core, her spirit. If he could seal it within himself, he would gain control over her power.

But seeing this object made Qin Chu’s heart tremble.

Shaye emerged from his body, perching on his shoulder.

“That thing… I sense a similar aura to Violet, Gaia, and Ireta,” she said, her voice grim, “That’s not something from this world.”

It was…

Divine Authority!

The source of the Flame Witch’s power.

And the cause of her madness.

Whoever possessed it would wield the power of a god.

Diabolique’s body trembled with excitement, sensing the immense energy within this small object.

His breath came in ragged gasps.

The next second, he opened his mouth.

And then, a terrifying, grotesque transformation began.

His mouth widened, his lips splitting, almost tearing his face in two.

His already plain features became monstrous.

Black, thread-like tentacles, like miniature versions of the Evil God’s threads, extended from his mouth, writhing and reaching for the Divine Authority.

Hiss…

The moment the black tentacles touched it, a strange sound echoed, like ice meeting lava, black mist billowing.

Countless tentacles disintegrated into dust.

This seemed to cause Diabolique great pain, his body convulsing, his forehead covered in sweat.

But more tentacles continued to extend from his mouth, wrapping around the Divine Authority, tightening their grip, pulling it towards him.

The scene was eerie and unsettling.

The Flame Witch’s form, dispersed by the ice, began to coalesce again. Her physical body had long since been destroyed, and now, the flames themselves were her form.

She didn’t understand what the Divine Authority was anymore, but she instinctively knew that it was something incredibly important to her, something she couldn’t let this Demon Beast take.

She let out a shrill scream, seemingly unleashing all her power. A pair of giant, fiery wings emerged from the flames behind her.

Like a phoenix reborn from the ashes, she spread her wings and soared to the highest point of the cavern, then, with a world-shattering force, she plummeted towards Diabolique.

The nine remaining Demon Beasts, seeing their master about to succeed, were filled with excitement.

Especially Heloise, the Snow Woman, and Iyeta, the Blood Elf.

These two beautiful Demon Beasts’ cheeks flushed with a strange excitement.

How could they allow the Flame Witch to interfere at such a crucial moment?

“Ice…”

Heloise, her slender arms like sculpted ice, spread her wide sleeves and looked up at the sky. Layers of solid ice appeared above Diabolique.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Thirteen layers of ice shields formed in an instant.

Rumble…

Almost at the same time, the giant firebird descended, the impact, in Qin Chu’s eyes, even greater than a ballistic missile.

A deafening roar echoed through the cavern, almost shattering their eardrums.

The earth trembled violently, cracks spreading across the ground, the entire mountain seemingly on the verge of collapse.

The ice shields shattered one after another, ice shards flying everywhere.

Even Heloise, the Snow Woman, couldn’t withstand the impact at such close range. Ash stained her white dress, her face turning pale, and she spat out a mouthful of blood, staining her pristine garments.

She was severely injured, but she didn’t regret it.

She glanced at the ring on her finger.

She had made a pact with Diabolique. He was her master, her destined husband.

She was waiting for the day he ascended the throne, when he would marry her and Iyeta. They would become his brides, offering him everything, their bodies, even their souls.

Unfortunately, this poor Snow Woman didn’t notice the figure standing up in the shadows near the entrance.

His hands opened, and a silver-white longbow appeared.

A spear, the sharpest and hardest, materialized in Anthea’s hand.

She nocked the spear, its tip aimed at Diabolique’s back, her Battle Qi and Mana surging.

The energy on the spear almost liquefied, flowing and swirling.

This was their chance!

“Pseudo-Spiral Sword!”
