Chapter 84: The Sky Clears
With a flick of his fan, Wan Yunhai gracefully landed beside Chen Yin and said with a smile:
“If you’re looking for concrete evidence about the Changli Palace incident…”
“It just so happens that I have a copy right here.”
Upon seeing him, Changwen let out a long sigh, and the expressions of the other elders turned grim.
Wu Xun stared at them, his face dark and silent.
Chen Yin looked at Wan Yunhai curiously and turned to his Master.
“…You called him for backup too?”
“Yeah, what’s wrong with that?” Master said nonchalantly.
“How did you even manage to call the Pavilion Master of the Ten Thousand Fragrance Pavilion?”
“Do you know how long I’ve lived? It’s not strange for me to have some connections, is it?”
Chen Yin didn’t bother listening to her bragging and turned to Wan Yunhai. “But why would the Ten Thousand Fragrance Pavilion know about the Changli Palace incident?”
“It’s an open secret among high-level cultivators.”
Wan Yunhai chuckled, fanning himself. “The Ten Thousand Fragrance Pavilion isn’t just a business.”
“We also have another service—information gathering.”
Chen Yin instantly understood.
…The Ten Thousand Fragrance Pavilion had branches all over the continent, their reach seemingly limitless. If they were a cultivation sect, they would be the largest in the world.
However, their ancestral motto was to stay out of the affairs of the cultivation world and focus solely on wealth.
So, they had always been known as the largest merchant organization, their true power hidden from most people.
But it was clear now that the Ten Thousand Fragrance Pavilion was not as simple as it seemed.
“If they used their resources to build an intelligence network…”
Chen Yin thought for a moment, then smiled silently. “…It would probably cover the entire continent.”
“Of course. This service is only available to our valued guests. Not everyone can access our information.”
Wan Yunhai laughed. “But it just so happens that our guest elders caught wind of the Changli Palace incident early on and secretly kept a record of it.”
“If Sect Master Wu Xun has nothing to hide, I’m going to play this recording in front of your disciples.”
His words sowed doubt among the Mist Spirit Sect disciples.
“This… why is even the Ten Thousand Fragrance Pavilion accusing us?”
“First the Heavenly Net Sect, now the Ten Thousand Fragrance Pavilion, and there’s also Immortal Yu Ling behind them…”
“Could it be…”
“The truth will be revealed soon enough.”
Wan Yunhai waved his hand, and a metal box flew into the air. An image slowly materialized on a blank scroll.
Wu Xun stared at the metal box, his voice a low growl:
“…A Sound Condensing Jade Box.”
Chen Yin, however, looked at the box with a strange expression.
…Isn’t that a video camera?
How did that end up in this world?
Did the Ten Thousand Fragrance Pavilion also have someone with a System?
Seeing Chen Yin’s puzzled expression, Wan Yunhai explained, “This is a treasure passed down from our ancestors. It can record and preserve images, allowing us to replay them at any time. It was one of our ancestors’ favorite treasures.”
“Pretty cool, huh?” He grinned proudly.
Chen Yin could only force a smile. “Cool, very cool…”
The image on the scroll showed Changli Palace, peaceful and serene, before a group of masked cultivators suddenly stormed in.
The leaders were elders from the Mist Spirit Sect.
The scenes that followed were horrifying, even for the Mist Spirit Sect disciples.
Massacre, torture, interrogation, rivers of blood…
Chen Yin gently covered Yu Xiang’s eyes and whispered in her ear:
“Don’t look.”
Yu Xiang’s shoulders trembled, and she nodded, biting her lip.
The Mist Spirit Sect disciples, watching the scene unfold before them, turned pale, their gazes towards their elders filled with fear and distrust.
“Do you have anything else to say?” Wan Yunhai closed his fan with a snap, a mocking smile on his lips.
Wu Xun closed his eyes for a long time. Beside him, Changwen sighed softly and said, “We’ve lost.”
“…There’s no other way out.”
His words were like a signal.
All the elders present stiffened upon hearing them.
Wu Xun nodded, then stepped forward and said in a clear voice:
“Everyone, I don’t understand why you’re all determined to destroy the Mist Spirit Sect today.”
“But if you think we’re that easy to bully, then you’re underestimating our legacy, built over countless years in the cultivation world.”
Hearing his words, the expressions of Wan Yunhai and Mu Susu changed drastically, as if they had realized something.
Master narrowed her eyes.
“Since you’re all determined to fight us to the death—”
“—then we’ll show no mercy.” Wu Xun’s eyes turned cold and venomous.
As soon as he finished speaking, several masked figures appeared around them, surrounding them completely.
The next moment, a blinding golden light erupted from beneath their feet.
Chen Yin looked down and saw countless complex patterns swirling and interweaving on the ground, a powerful and ancient aura enveloping the entire mountain peak.
“This is!” Even Shen Shuanglian’s eyes widened in fear.
“The Mist Spirit Sect’s protective formation, the Primordial Mist Concealment Formation!”
Chen Yin asked curiously, “What is it? Is it powerful?”
“It’s one of the Mist Spirit Sect’s trump cards. It’s only been activated once in the past few thousand years, during the demonic path’s peak.”
Shen Shuanglian seemed to have heard of the formation’s power. She frowned. “I’ve read about it in the sect’s ancient texts. This formation requires a huge sacrifice, consuming enough spiritual energy to drain several Supreme Clarity Realm Immortals.”
“And its power—”
“No one below the True Immortal realm can survive it.” Master glanced at Chen Yin nonchalantly. “You tell me, is it powerful?”
Chen Yin simply said, “Oh.”
The golden light quickly enveloped them, and in an instant, the entire mountain peak seemed to be transported back to the primordial era.
The air was thick with a suffocating density of spiritual energy, making it difficult to breathe. Chen Yin felt his own spiritual energy stagnating.
The scenery before him blurred and distorted, as if he were falling into an endless abyss of fog.
It was like the beginning of chaos.
Mu Susu gripped Luo Qiaoqiao’s hand tightly and said, “Be careful. Stay behind Mother.”
Luo Qiaoqiao glanced at Chen Yin with a worried expression.
Chen Yin looked at the dense fog that had completely enveloped them and turned to his Master. “Can you handle this powerful formation?”
“Of course not.”
Master put her hands on her hips. “I’m still injured, remember? I can barely protect myself, how could I possibly deal with this ridiculous formation?”
Chen Yin turned to Wan Yunhai, who just shrugged helplessly.
“I’m just a businessman. I’m not good at fighting.”
Mu Susu also said with a serious expression, “It’s almost impossible to break this formation alone. I thought we were just here to watch a show, but it seems we’ve pushed those old dogs into a corner.”
“Looks like we’re doomed.”
Chen Yin poked Master’s head playfully. “You came here before you were even fully healed, just to show off? Now look what happened. We’re trapped.”
“What are you afraid of?” Master waved her hand dismissively.
“It’s not our turn to fight anyway. What are you here for?”
“Are you telling me that a bunch of senior cultivators like you are going to let a little Cloud Ascending Realm disciple like me take the bullet?”
“Hah. You raise a disciple for a thousand days, and you use them for one. I raised you, you brat, to be my shield.”
Chen Yin glared at her. “You old hag. You always leave the dirty work to me.”
“You’re one to talk. You’re always using my name to run around and cause trouble.” Master retorted nonchalantly.
“Old hag.”
“Brat.”
They looked at each other and laughed.
Luo Qiaoqiao and her mother listened to their banter with confused expressions. Chen Yin turned to Xiang’er and said softly, “Step back and stay safe.” Then he took a step forward.
The Eternal Light sword in his hand, like a slowly brightening lamp, began to gather light.
“I was wondering why there was such a grand display, but I didn’t see anyone from your secret division.”
Chen Yin chuckled softly. “So you’re using yourselves as the foundation for the formation.”
“…That saves me the trouble of finding you one by one.” His voice turned cold.
The light grew brighter and more intense, the Eternal Light sword trembling slightly, its clear ringing echoing through the air.
His figure seemed to become ethereal in the mist.
“Senior Brother…” Yu Xiang couldn’t help but call out.
Chen Yin turned and gave her a gentle smile.
“Xiang’er, watch closely.”
“From now on, no darkness will ever overshadow your life again.”
“Because I, your Senior Brother, will tear down the heavens for you.” He said calmly.
His aura suddenly became cold and distant, not like an immortal, but like an ordinary mortal, standing before the vast and boundless sky, sword in hand.
His figure was small and insignificant, but the sword in his hand grew brighter and hotter.
Like a blazing sun.
Under its light, the masked cultivators of the secret division, who had become part of the formation, began to tremble uncontrollably, blood seeping from their bodies.
Countless tiny sword lights, like a thousand arrows piercing their hearts, tore them apart.
They didn’t even have time to scream before they were obliterated by the overwhelming sword light.
The dark fog that had enveloped the sky was also torn apart like a fragile cloth.
At the same time, Wu Xun and the others, who had been channeling their spiritual energy into the formation, coughed up blood, their bodies thrown back, weakened and defeated.
Elder Mo Jie, already injured, let out a scream as half of his body exploded into a bloody mist.
Elder Changwen chuckled wryly, his eyes dimming with despair.
One sword, two outcomes. The sky slowly revealed its original clarity and brilliance.
Yu Xiang stared at the cloudless blue sky, the gentle sunlight, and her Senior Brother, standing tall with his sword, her eyes wide with wonder.
Chen Yin turned to her and smiled.
“Xiang’er, look.”
“…The sky has cleared.”
