Chapter 46: The Omega Abandoned After a One-Night Stand (3)
“Ring, ring, ring—”
Willowleaf University, a public classroom.
The monotonous bell rang rhythmically. The professor, holding his teaching materials and a thermos, walked into the classroom. Without looking at the students, he opened his lesson plan, pushed up his glasses, and announced calmly: “We’ll be taking attendance today. Those who are absent will lose ten points from their participation grade.”
The students below immediately started sending messages to their roommates and friends.
“Professor is taking attendance! Come quickly!”
Students, hunched over, entered the classroom through the back door one after another.
Chu Ruan was one of them. She found the seat her friend had saved for her in the second to last row, flipped down the chair, and sat down. Her friend quickly turned the textbook to the correct page and whispered: “Where were you yesterday? I thought you were going to skip class today.”
“It’s a long story.” Chu Ruan hadn’t even combed her hair properly. While the professor was taking attendance, she carefully examined the content of the textbook, which she should have previewed yesterday—but ultimately didn’t.
But her friend kept nudging her with her elbow. “Tell me, tell me, before the class starts.”
Chu Ruan’s eyes were glued to the textbook, scanning the theories at lightning speed. She unconsciously blurted out the truth: “My family dragged me to meet my marriage partner.”
“Whoa!”
Her friend exclaimed in surprise, her voice loud enough to be heard by the surrounding students. She quickly covered her mouth and, after a while, leaned closer and whispered: “I know, you went for genetic matching before, and you were matched with an Alpha from the Su family in our city. So, so, so… how did it go?”
Chu Ruan held out her hand, asking to borrow a pencil, instinctively forgetting that this wasn’t her own textbook.
But her friend suddenly fell silent.
Chu Ruan followed her gaze and saw her own palm, still red and swollen. She quickly withdrew her hand as if electrocuted, clenching it tightly, not wanting her friend to notice anything unusual.
Unfortunately, it was too late.
Her friend’s eyes widened, and she leaned in with a serious expression, whispering: “Does he have a violent tendency? You’re not even married yet, and that Alpha dared to lay his hands on you? You can’t tolerate this! We’ll go report him later!”
Chu Ruan couldn’t focus on previewing the textbook anymore, her face burning red.
Thinking about what had happened last night, her gaze started to wander.
***
The cold blade was still pressed against Su Mingxiu’s carotid artery.
At that moment, Chu Ruan looked determined, ready to die. Even though the atmosphere in the room had become dangerous due to Su Mingxiu’s tone, she hesitated for a long time, then insisted:
“You… as long as you don’t touch me, I promise I won’t hurt you—”
After a pause, she raised her voice slightly, as if to boost her own courage. “It’s not that I don’t want to apologize sincerely, it’s just that you Alphas generally have unreliable character. I’m just protecting myself…”
“Hold the knife steady, don’t shake your hand.”
Su Mingxiu interrupted her explanation, even kindly offering a reminder.
Hearing her reminder, Chu Ruan felt even more apprehensive. She felt like she shouldn’t have taken out this self-defense weapon in this situation.
Her palm, gripping the knife handle, started to sweat.
It was just a paper cutter, very small, something she had grabbed from her desk when the Chu family barged in. Its horizontal attack power wasn’t as effective as using the sharp tip to stab.
Her thoughts wandered randomly, and she felt her courage gradually returning. Suddenly, she heard the person being held at knifepoint speak again: “May I ask, is this knife new or used? Is it rusty?”
Chu Ruan: “?”
Her eyes, accustomed to the darkness, could clearly see the glimmer in Su Mingxiu’s eyes. She was suddenly struck by the realization that the other party was actually smiling in this situation.
Seeing that she didn’t answer, Su Mingxiu continued: “The probability of tetanus bacteria on dirty or rusty metal surfaces is very high. And the chance of an open wound getting infected with tetanus is 80%—”
As she spoke, she slowly moved her neck towards Chu Ruan’s knife.
This action startled Chu Ruan, and she quickly pulled the knife back.
She didn’t know if it was because of the high infection rate Su Mingxiu had mentioned.
Su Mingxiu didn’t mention the extremely low incidence rate of this disease. She chuckled softly. “Ruanruan, you love quoting the law so much, so let’s do a quiz. If I have no intention of harming you, and haven’t taken any actions to harm you, but you accidentally injure me fatally due to excessive self-defense, what will be the consequence?”
“Uh…” Chu Ruan wasn’t a law student, she couldn’t answer.
Seeing that the little knife was now held half a meter away from her, Su Mingxiu calmly pulled her hand out from under the quilt, folded it behind her head, and looked at the little girl who had sat up in her arms at some point.
After a long silence, Chu Ruan mumbled, slowly squeezing out a sentence: “Don’t touch me, and I won’t touch you.”
“Heh.” Her soft laughter echoed in the room.
She didn’t say anything, but it made Chu Ruan feel incredibly childish.
“So, you took out your little knife just to scare me?” Su Mingxiu asked slowly.
As the Omega remained silent, unable to utter a single word, she acted like a good teacher who suddenly wanted to impart knowledge, throwing out another question: “Do you know the consequences of an Omega, clearly at a disadvantage in terms of strength, threatening an Alpha with a weapon?”
She drew out the last few words, her melodious voice, full of emotion, making the only listener in the master bedroom hold her breath.
The next moment!
The person who had been lying relaxedly on the bed suddenly moved like a cheetah. Before Chu Ruan could even react, Su Mingxiu snatched the knife from her hand, tossed it aside, grabbed her wrists, and twisted—
Only when her face was pressed into the soft quilt did she feel the pain in her wrists, which were now pinned behind her back. Chu Ruan belatedly tried to struggle, but the weight of the other person pressing down on her back made her immobile.
The more she struggled, the more her wrists hurt.
At this moment, a chuckling voice came from behind her: “I’ll demonstrate the answer to that question for you.”
The Omega’s hoodie, which she hadn’t changed out of, rode up her back due to her struggles, revealing a section of her slender, soft waist, as white as jade, even emitting a faint glow unique to her skin.
Su Mingxiu whistled inwardly and gently caressed this piece of jade with her free hand.
“Ah!!” Chu Ruan was about to struggle with all her might when she heard the person behind her say: “Faced with such a reckless provocation, Alphas wouldn’t hesitate to pin down this daring little kitten and do whatever they want, teaching her the consequences of angering them.”
The hand on Chu Ruan’s waist started to move upwards, slipping under her loose hoodie, tracing her spine like a slithering snake, finally stopping near her nape.
Perhaps because the hand was now near her vulnerable spot, her body, unable to break free or escape, started to tremble.
Su Mingxiu’s fingertips landed on her suppression collar. “A prey that offers themselves up, who initiates the provocation, can’t blame anyone else if they end up being bitten on the neck and marked, right?”
Chu Ruan, understanding the implication, abruptly turned her head from the quilt. “No…” she pleaded.
Her hands, pinned behind her back, struggled with all their might, but they couldn’t break free. The little girl seemed to have only now realized the fear of being completely powerless. Her voice was choked with tears: “Don’t… don’t mark me… I was wrong…”
“You know you were wrong?” Su Mingxiu’s reply came swiftly.
This gave Chu Ruan a glimmer of hope. Her desperate plea, originally blurted out in a moment of panic, was now her only lifeline. She desperately nodded, hoping Su Mingxiu could see how sincere she was.
Her frantic nodding amused the Alpha, but the hand holding her down like a rope didn’t loosen. “If you know you were wrong, it means you’re willing to accept punishment, right?”
“Uh…” Chu Ruan froze again.
After waiting for a few seconds without an answer, Su Mingxiu sighed. “It seems you prefer the first option—”
“I will! I’m willing! Punish me however you want!” The goosebumps on her neck forced Chu Ruan to accept the unknown punishment.
So, when she finally regained her freedom and was rubbing her sore wrists, she saw the hateful Alpha turn on the bedside lamp. Her gaze swept over the bedside table, then, seemingly dissatisfied, she picked up a comb that had been left there.
“Hold out your hand.”
“Don’t dodge, don’t block, okay?”
Chu Ruan: “?!”
***
“Chu Ruan.”
In the public classroom, the professor patiently raised his voice, his gaze lifting from behind his glasses to scan the students. “Is Chu Ruan absent? Then please inform her that her participation grade…”
“Present!”
Chu Ruan, snapping out of her memories, quickly responded with her friend’s reminder.
After convincing the professor that she was indeed present and not someone answering for her, she sat down, her heart still pounding. She unconsciously pinched her palm, then quickly released it, realizing that the pain hadn’t completely subsided.
Her friend sitting beside her continued to ask persistently: “Ruanruan?”
Chu Ruan, distracted and her thoughts in turmoil, shook her head. “Don’t ask, I don’t want to talk about that person right now.”
“Okay… then after this class, let’s go shopping and unwind.”
Chu Ruan replied absentmindedly.
At this moment, the person on her mind was sitting behind her desk at the hospital, checking the files on her hard drive.
The psychiatrist’s office was decorated for relaxation, with a tea table, aromatherapy diffusers, and even a lounge area with beanbag chairs. It felt more like a home than an office. The fresh color scheme made people feel relaxed as soon as they entered.
But the owner of this office wasn’t affected by this relaxing atmosphere at all.
She frowned, looking at the projects listed on her encrypted hard drive, each one more outrageous than the last—
“Exploring the possibility of re-marking an Omega after gland removal,” “On the possibility of an Omega developing love for an Alpha with negative emotions after being marked”…
And so on.
No matter the content, any normal person would want to call the tip line after a single glance.
Su Mingxiu skimmed through them briefly, then let her mind wander, thinking about how to destroy this hard drive without leaving any traces.
“Knock, knock.”
Someone knocked softly on the door.
Still troubled by the system’s inhumane ultimate mission, she said absentmindedly, “Come in.” A young nurse in a pink uniform peeked her head in, blinking at her. Her voice was exceptionally gentle as she reminded Su Mingxiu: “Dr. Su, there’s a special case in neurosurgery. Director Qi asked us to invite you to a joint meeting.”
Su Mingxiu instinctively stood up from her seat. Under her white coat, her dark red tie and formal attire accentuated her alluring figure. As she approached, the Beta nurse blushed furiously.
wuwuwu.. Dr. Su is so beautiful and charismatic, even a Beta like me can’t help but say yes!
Black gloves appeared before her: “Do you have the case file? I’ll take a look first.”
The nurse was too busy blushing to react to her words. After a while, she finally came back to her senses and quickly handed over the scans sent by the imaging department.
***
Three and a half hours later.
After leaving neurosurgery and being dragged to several other departments to discuss cases, Su Mingxiu was so busy that she had no time to think about the ultimate mission.
When she was called to cover a shift at the exceptionally busy emergency room, a conspiracy theory even crossed her mind: Did the system arrange this identity for her just to keep her so busy that she had no time to exploit loopholes in the mission, forcing her to become a scumbag out of convenience?
But that didn’t make sense.
If she was this busy every day, when would the original owner have time to be a flirt?
Was she a master of time management?
“Dr. Su!”
The young nurse at the emergency room reception desk looked at her with surprise, seemingly not expecting to see her helping out in the emergency room today. Her eyes lit up, and she seemed eager to approach Su Mingxiu. But in the next second, a voice came from the front: “Excuse me, which department should I go to for a fall injury?”
The nurse reluctantly looked away and turned to the patient. “What kind of fall injury?”
Su Mingxiu also looked over and saw a figure trying to hide behind a girl.
Although she didn’t recognize the person in front, she recognized the hoodie on the person trying to hide.
A deeper smile appeared on her lips. After the nurse finished asking, she suddenly added: “Who’s the injured one?”
Seeing the person in the white coat, Zhao Chun’er, the friend who had saved a seat for Chu Ruan in class, her eyes lit up. Driven by her love for beautiful people, she enthusiastically pulled the person behind her into the beautiful doctor’s view: “Her.”
Chu Ruan had already seen Su Mingxiu.
The person in the white coat and formal attire was the most striking sight in this chaotic emergency room. While others were eager to see a doctor, she was the only one trying to escape. She had been desperately dragging her friend towards the hospital exit.
Now, seeing Su Mingxiu’s gaze sweep over, she quickly turned around. “I’m not injured, I don’t need to see a doctor.”
Chu Ruan wished she could disappear from Su Mingxiu’s sight at the speed of light.
Now, whenever she saw this person, she felt a phantom pain in her hand, and Su Mingxiu’s warning from last night started replaying in her mind. She instinctively felt pain all over her body.
Chu Ruan limped towards the exit, desperate to leave her friend behind.
But that chuckling voice easily caught up to her, like a devil’s delighted whisper: “Stop.”
Instantly, Chu Ruan was frozen in place by those two words.
Her heart pounded against her back, almost leaping into her throat.
