Chapter 27: Blind Spots From Excessive… Assets
Yun Xiu nodded, her voice soft.
“Thank you.”
He smiled.
“The fire’s ready, and the water’s boiling in the cauldron. I’ve kept it warm with charcoal. If you’re thirsty, go have some. The bamboo cups are there… I’ll go gather firewood and find some food. You two rest in the tent. And no fighting.”
Although their relationship wasn’t as hostile as described in the script, he was still worried they might be pretending, attacking each other as soon as he left.
Seeing them obediently agree, he felt reassured, leaving the cave to search for food.
…
It was still raining. He was drenched, quickly circulating his Mystic Power to ward off the cold.
About an hour later, he returned, his clothes soaked, carrying a bundle of firewood, some mushrooms, and a cleaned rabbit.
The Mystic Beasts in the Demon Dragon Mountain Range all carried a trace of demonic energy. Consuming their meat could affect one’s mind, especially those with weak souls.
However, ordinary animals didn’t absorb Mystic Energy, so their meat was safe to eat.
But with Mystic Beasts dominating the mountain range, ordinary animals were rare.
He had been lucky. A Mystic Beast, carrying a dead rabbit, had walked right past him. He had swiftly beheaded it with Raikiri, extracted its beast core, and claimed its snack.
“I’m back! We’re having roasted rabbit and mushroom soup tonight!”
They emerged from the tent, their expressions different as they saw him drenched, his clothes clinging to his body.
Yun Xiu felt a pang of sympathy, imagining him running through the rain, battling Mystic Beasts, while Jiu Youyue’s eyes gleamed, her mind conjuring images of him sweating, his masculinity radiating outwards.
“Wild animals are rare in the Demon Dragon Mountain Range. You managed to catch a rabbit? Impressive.”
“Yes, Little Zhenzhen, how did you do it?”
They had only eaten fish in her previous life.
Of course, he had put effort into his cooking, alternating between fish soup, grilled fish, and sashimi… He had been trying to impress them with his culinary skills.
He smiled, recounting the encounter as he dried the firewood.
“So that’s what happened. You’re so lucky, Little Zhenzhen.”
“Are you injured? Dealing with a Tier 3 Mystic Beast isn’t easy at your cultivation level.”
“I’m fine. I have my Mystic Tool.”
He showed them Raikiri, the cursed blade from the Dream God Palace, now reduced to a mere tool-knife.
“This tachi can easily cut through a Mystic Scholar’s Mystic Power armor. Tier 3 Mystic Beasts don’t use Mystic Skills. They only rely on brute force. And they’re not as fast as me. A few slashes, and it’s over.”
Of course, using his Extreme Flame Sword would be even faster, but it consumed too much Mystic Power.
He then demonstrated a set of sword techniques with Raikiri, his movements swift and powerful.
Jiu Youyue’s eyes sparkled with admiration, while Yun Xiu nodded, her gaze softening.
…
He began preparing the ingredients, using Raikiri to chop the vegetables. “Yun Xiu, have you changed your bandages?”
“Yes.”
She said, but her expression became unnatural.
“‘Changed’ is an overstatement.” Jiu Youyue chuckled. “Her breasts are too big. She couldn’t see her wounds, so she just… wrapped the bandages randomly.”
He was startled. Her wounds were on her ribs, directly in her blind spot, considering her… assets.
“Sorry, I didn’t think of that.”
Yun Xiu, both embarrassed and annoyed, wanted to sew her junior sister’s mouth shut. Not only had she refused to help her change the bandages, but now she was exposing her to him!
“They’re almost healed anyway. It doesn’t matter if I don’t change them.”
“That’s not good. Your wounds aren’t that quick to heal… Why didn’t you ask Jiu Youyue to help you?”
Jiu Youyue said innocently, “I’m clumsy. I was afraid of hurting Sister. Little Zhenzhen, why don’t you help her change her bandages?”
He turned to Yun Xiu, seeking her consent.
She blushed, lowering her head, her silence a confirmation.
“Then… let’s go to the tent.”
“Okay.”
Jiu Youyue, watching their awkwardness, chuckled to herself, staying behind. She glanced at the mushrooms on the stone platform, then crouched down, mimicking his earlier actions, using her fingernails to clean and slice them, before adding them to the cauldron.
The alluring beauty, wrapped in her blanket, looked surprisingly domestic as she prepared the meal.
…
Inside the tent, Yun Xiu lay down, the blanket covering her legs, her upper body bare, one arm covering her breasts, her eyes closed, her demeanor submissive.
The bandages around her ribs were haphazardly wrapped, the technique clumsy.
He untied the bandages, finding the ointment unevenly applied. He frowned.
The three claw marks had healed significantly, but soaking in the water had reopened the scabs. Combined with her careless bandaging, the wounds were bleeding again.
“You said it was fine, but they’re bleeding again.”
She remained silent, embarrassed.
He retrieved a healing pill, melting it into a paste with the Gold and Silver Fire, then carefully applied it to her wounds, rebandaging them, finishing with a small bow.
“There. One more change tomorrow, and they should be fully healed.”
They were just external injuries, after all. With her Mystic Lord level regenerative abilities and his Tier 2 healing pills, they should have healed within a day.
However, the claw marks carried a trace of the Tier 5 Mystic Beast’s berserker aura, slowing down the healing process.
Fortunately, she hadn’t been injured by the beast’s innate Mystic Skill. Otherwise, the residual Mystic Power would have continued to worsen the wounds, something he couldn’t currently dispel.
In the script, it had taken three days for them to regain some mobility, five days for their injuries to improve, seven days for them to circulate their Mystic Power, and ten days for them to fully recover.
“I’ll be going out now.”
“Wait!”
“What is it?”
“My… my dress is ruined. And I can’t open my storage ring right now. Can you… give me something to wear? Wearing only a blanket is a bit… strange.”
“I have some clothes, but they might not fit you.”
He retrieved two sets of clothes from his storage ring. Both the tops and the bottoms were too small. After all, he was only sixteen, and not particularly tall or broad, while both Yun Xiu and Jiu Youyue were tall and curvy.
“That outer robe might fit.”
“Oh, then try it on. If it fits, you can keep it. I have another one.”
He left the robe, exiting the tent, finding Jiu Youyue preparing dinner.
As she had said, she was quite clumsy, struggling to skewer the rabbit meat onto the branches, despite her swordsmanship skills.
He chuckled.
“Let me do it.”
